Security Gateway Extension Mechanism for Session Recovery in Virtual Private Network (가상 사설망에서의 세션 복구 서비스를 위한 Security Gateway 확장 메커니즘)

  • The surge in use of networks has recently increased demands for cryptography. Cryptography, however, can cause various problems because of difficulty of key management. A lot of researchers have been concentrating on the key recovery technique to eliminate the reverse effect of using these kinds of security and to promote positive aspects of using it. They have suggested many key recovery techniques up to the present. we propose a mechanism as a solution, which are employed to reduce the time needed to reconnect SG and the host in Host-to-Gateway in VPNs supporting IPsec, in case they are disconnected. This new mechanism using KRFSH stores information at each session in advance so that users can recall the session information when needed to rebuild the tunnel between SG and the host in a VPN. As a result, the mechanism built into SG will solve the problems above in host-to-gateway VPNs using IPsec.

  • With a remarkable growth and expansion of Internet, the security issues emerged from intrusions and attacks such as computer viruses, denial of services and hackings to destroy information have been considered as serious threats for Internet and the private networks. To protect networks from those attacks, many vendors have developed various security systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control systems. However, managing those systems individually requires too much work and high cost. Thus, in order to manage integrated security management and establish consistent security management for various security products, the policy model of PN-ISMS (Policy Based Integrated Security Management System) has become very important. In this paper, present the hierarchical policy model which explore the refinement of high-level/conceptual policies into a number of more specific policies to form a policy hierarchy. A formal method of policy description was used as the basis of the mode in order to achieve precision and generality. Z-Notation was chosen for this propose. The Z-Notation is mathematical notation for expressing and communicating the specifications of computer programs. Z uses conventional notations of logic and set theory organized into expressions called schemas.

  • Computer Forensics functions by defending the effects and extracting the evidence of the side effects for production at the court. Has the faultlessness of the digital evidence been compromised during the investigation, a critical evidence may be denied or not even be presented at the trial. The presented monograph will deliberate the faultlessness-establishing chain procedures in disk forensics, system forensics, network forensics, mobile forensics and database forensics. Once the faultlessness is established by the methods proposed, the products of investigation will be adopted as a leading evidence. Moreover, the issues and alternatives in the reality of digital investigation are presented along with the actual computer forensics cases, hopefully contributing to the advances in computer digital forensics and the field research of information security.

To protect networks from those attacks, many nendors have developed various security systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access control systems. However managing those systems individually requres too much work and high cost. Thus, integrated security managemanet and eatabliashment of consistent security policy for various security products has become more important. In this paper, we propose integrated security manabement system called WISMSF(Web based Integrated Security Management System for Fireswalls) to monitor and contro various kinds of firewalls WISMSF consists of three components-clients, integrated engine, and agents. It supports the transparent management functions of security products, easy ways of defining security policies, and simple expansion of managed ranges.

  • Enterprise security management system proposed to properly manage heterogeneous security products is the security management infrastructure designed to avoid needless duplications of management tasks and inter-operate those security products effectively. In this paper, we defined the security policies using Z-Notation and the detection algorithm of policy conflict for managing heterogeneous firewall systems. It is designed to help security management build invulnerable security policies that can unify various existing management infrastructures of security policies. Its goal is not only to improve security strength and increase the management efficiency and convenience but also to make it possible to include different security management infrastructures while building security policies. With the process of the detection and resolution for policy conflict, it is possible to integrate heterogeneous security policies and guarantee the integrity of them by avoiding conflicts or duplications among security policies. And further, it provides convenience to manage many security products existing in large networks.

  • With the development of computer&network technology and the growth of its dependance, computer failures not only lose human and material resources but also make organization's competition weak as a side-effect of information society. Therefore, people consider computer security as important factor. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) detect intrusions and take an appropriate action against them in order to protect a computer from system failure due to illegal intrusion. A variety of methods and models for IDS have been developed until now, but the existing methods or models aren't enough to detect intrusions because of the complexity of computer network the vulnerability of the object system, insufficient understanding for information security and the appearance of new illegal intrusion method. We propose a new IDS model to be suitable at the information system organized by homogeneous hosts and design for the IDS model and implement the prototype of it for feasibility study. The IDS model consist of many distributed unit sensor IDSs at homogeneous hosts and if any of distributed unit sensor IDSs detect anomaly system call among system call sequences generated by a process, the anomaly system call can be dynamically shared with other unit sensor IDSs. This makes the IDS model can effectively detect new intruders about whole information system.

A Study of Computer Toxicosis and Deviant Behavior in Vocational High School Students (실업계 고교생의 컴퓨터 중독과 일탈행동 실태 연구)

  • Social problems are coming to light due to the dysfunction which is caused by the improvement of ICT and the increasing information with computers and one of these problems is teenagers' computer toxicosis. In order to measure such an toxicosis, test paper that is developed by Kimberly S. Young is typically used. In this study, along with the test paper, localized Korean Internet addiction test (K-index) was used and the study was also made on the basis of such result. With results of sorting the data on the basis of K-index diagnosis criteria, it showed general users were 534 (64.8%), with potential risk users were 229 (27.8%) and high risk users were 61 (7.4%). This study was for the purpose of finding out sufficient and essential conditions ( outer behaviors ) of computer toxicosis for high risk users and searching for preventive measures for them.

  • Internet ethics education in school is very necessary for young people to use the Internet properly and to be able to utilize information and communication technology well. However Internet ethics education for the would-be teachers is very insufficient. Therefore, it is very important that teacher training institutions to train teachers operates Internet ethics curriculum and teaches it to would-be teachers. In this paper, we analyzed the operating status about Internet ethics curriculum in teacher training institutions in which open a major in computer related education. As a result, only less than 30% of the entire teacher training institutions are operating to have the curriculum. So, in order to solve the problem, Internet ethics curriculum in teacher training institutions should be strengthened and we should have applied it to other curriculum in other major. In addition, training and retraining to the teachers for Internet ethics should be strengthened.

  • The evolution of the IT facilitated the social actions of the consumers by supporting social communication of the online users. At the same time it help for the consumer to post malicious comments on the Internet or to spread the unproven news for distorting the public opinion in the SNSs. Although the number of the consumer unethical behaviors and the estimated damage of the innocent companies have been increased, a few studies had investigate on this issue. Based on the Literature on the consumer unethical behaviors and the institution based trust, we had developed the defense strategies against the consumer unethical behaviors. This study would introduce the new perspective that the consumer could always not be innocent. Also, the defense strategy developed in this study could contribute to make the guideline for consumer service manual.

  • Past corporaion's network security system is single security solution, or mixed several ways, but there was inefficient system because doing not get into organic link But, constructed more strong security system by ESM enterance on. ESM uses way to integrate of each agent to manage easily various kinds security solution. That is, it is system that connect system of existent VPN, FireWall, IDS and so on configurationally depending on security policy and manage. ESM is security system that is developed more than existent security system. But, practical use of network and the development speed of technology being increasing with the mon faster speed, is heightening the level more as well as dysfunction of information crime and so on. Many improvements are required at ESM system, this research wished to make up for the weak-point in the ESM system about interior security. Studied on structure of security solution that is basis of security policy. VPN, Firewall, IDS's link that is main composition of existing security system analysis, reconstructed. And supplemented security of ESM system itself. Establish imaginary intrusion and comparative analysis access data that apply each Telnet Log analysys IDS existent ESM system and proposed ESM system comparative analysis. Confirm the importance of interior security and inspected security of proposed system.
