A Comparative Study of Web Information Resources on Science & Technology (과학기술분야 웹 정보원 평가 및 비교 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the criteria for evaluating web information resources. This study also attempts to get a sense of the overall quality of web information resources and to identify the relationship among the criteria, Particularly those on the science and technology. Three evaluation categories are Proposed; information content functionality or workability, and design. Core features of information content includes authority, relevancy, currency; functionality includes navigation, user support technical requirements; layout and design includes visual appearance. Based on the proposed criteria, the 50 sample web resources selected from 5 different field were evaluated. The results showed that the web information resources on the Electrical and Electronic Engineering field was excellent. The Pearson's correlation coefficient between evaluation criteria showed that information content and functionality had a negative relationship, on the other hand functionality and design had a moderate correlation.

An Algorithm for Collection Selection Using Relevance Distribution (관련성 분포 정보를 이용한 정보원 선택 알고리즘)

  • 본 논문은 통합 검색에서 이질의 정보원으로부터 정보를 검색할 때 주어진 질의에 대해 가장 적합한 정보원 선택에 대한 새로운 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 질의어와 검색에 참여한 정보원간의 관련성 분포 정보를 사용하였다. 이때 관련성 분포 정보는 질의어와 정보원 사이의 관련성 정도를 말하며, 이에 대한 평가는 질의에 대해 정보원으로부터 임의의 크기 N 만큼 검색 문서를 수집한 후에 이들을 평가하여 추정하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 관련성 분포 정보는 검색 문서의 재평가 값, 관련 문서의 순서 정보, 정확도 등으로 평가한다. 또한 제안된 알고리즘은 정보원 평가에서 검색 인덱스 정보가 필요 없으며, tf, df, N등의 메타 데이터로만 평가할 수 있는 장점이 있어, 동적인 환경에 적용하기가 매우 쉽다.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the current trends and characteristics of Korean internet searchable Web-based biographical resources by analyzing and evaluating in practices. Four among Korean Web-based biographical resources which have the comprehensive scope are chosen and evaluated by the 9 criteria and their detailed features. This study will allow users and reference librarians to more easily choose pertinent biographical references from the many internet resources. It will be also helpful by allowing publishers to produce more effective biographical information in quality.

  • 지금까지의 소비자 정보에 관한 연구는 정보획득의 원천이 되는 소비자정보원의 중 요성을 간과함으로써소비자의 정보사용 효율성을 증진시킬수 있는 방안제시에 한계가 있었 다. 그러나 본 연구는 유용한 소비자정보원으로서 갖춰야 하는 속성과 가지고 있어야 하는 정보내용이 무엇인지 밝히고 이를 바탕으로 소비자정보원의 질을 평가할 수 있는 척도를 개 발하며 그 척도를 이용하여 우리나라의 소비자정보원을 평가해봄으로써 소비자정보환경의 개선이 정보의 양적 증가 뿐만 아니라 정보원의 질 향상의 측면에서도 이루어져야 함을 보 여주고 있다.

Design and Implementation of HoleInOne Metasearch System (HoleInOne 메타검색 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • The Meta Search system proposed in this paper is operated based on relevance distribution Infer mation(RDI). It first evaluates the sources applicable to the search, and then selects the most appropriate source. According to the evaluation of the sources, it discreetly collects the documents from the concerned sources and classifies them into a useful order based on the RDI, which is an evaluation score of the sources. The documents are classified into order and presented to the user as a single search result. For this Purpose, this study presents evaluation factor models to present the RDI between the query, and source, and proposes a method for drawing out the RDI based on the evaluation factors. The system for selecting the most appropriate sources according to the query has been developed based on an algorithm that selects the best source. Finally, after searching the documents suitable for query from extracted sources, we present a Meta Search system, HoleInOne, that ranks and merges them.

  • We design the evaluation factors to represent the relevance distribution information between a query and sources and proposes the scheme to get relevance distribution information based on evaluation factors. Then it is developed that the organization is able to classify the best source toward query, and shown the algorithms that is able to select the best source toward users query, it is developed algorithms that is decided ranking and mering these, after choose the best source to evaluate a query, Finally, it merges the result from the source, and present them to the user to the issued query. This paper also develops the scheme to classify the best sources for query and presents the selection algorithm of the best information sources. Finally the ranking and merging Federated Retrieval System is presented.

A Study on Information Resource Evaluation for Text Categorization (문서범주화 효율성 제고를 위한 정보원 평가에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine whether the information resources referenced by human indexers during indexing process are effective on Text Categorization. More specifically, information resources from bibliographic information as well as full text information were explored in the context of a typical scientific journal article data set. The experiment results pointed out that information resources such as citation, source title, and title were not significantly different with full text. Whereas keyword was found to be significantly different with full text. The findings of this study identify that information resources referenced by human indexers can be considered good candidates for text categorization for automatic subject term assignment.

  • This study investigated how college students seek and use information sources in their everyday lives. A total of 360 students from twelve colleges located in Seoul were randomly selected and participated in this study. The survey asked them what kind of information sources they use in their everyday life and what differences it has when they seek the information sources for their decision making time. Various criteria for evaluating information sources were reviewed to adopt in this study and collected data were analyzed using SPSS 17.0.

Confidence Indicators and Evaluation Factors of Credibility According to the Types of Online Information (온라인 정보원의 유형별 신뢰지수 및 신뢰성 평가요인)

  • This study tried to develop the confidence indicators and evaluation factors of credibility according to the types of online information by nationwide large scale online survey. The main results are summarized as follows: i) confidence indicators by types of online information: information on news sites(72.553), financial companies(68.894), government sites(67.938), cafe(66.464), portal sites(65.001), collective intelligence sites(63.489), nonprofit organization (63.392), company/corporation sites(59.789), blog(59.066), online community sites(55.609), e-commerce sites(55.118), mini-homepage(50.695). ii) 'Widely known site' or 'famous site' is the most important factor for all types of online information. User opinions like as posting or comment are major factors for sites of cafe, blog, mini-homepage, online community, collective intelligence etc. and 'name recognition' and 'reputation' are main factors for site of financial company, corporation, government, nonprofit organization.
