Machine learning-based Fine Dust Prediction Model using Meteorological data and Fine Dust data (기상 데이터와 미세먼지 데이터를 활용한 머신러닝 기반 미세먼지 예측 모형)

  • As fine dust negatively affects disease, industry and economy, the people are sensitive to fine dust. Therefore, if the occurrence of fine dust can be predicted, countermeasures can be prepared in advance, which can be helpful for life and economy. Fine dust is affected by the weather and the degree of concentration of fine dust emission sources. The industrial sector has the largest amount of fine dust emissions, and in industrial complexes, factories emit a lot of fine dust as fine dust emission sources. This study targets regions with old industrial complexes in local cities. The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that cause fine dust and develop a predictive model that can predict the occurrence of fine dust. weather data and fine dust data were used, and variables that influence the generation of fine dust were extracted through multiple regression analysis. Based on the results of multiple regression analysis, a model with high predictive power was extracted by learning with a machine learning regression learner model. The performance of the model was confirmed using test data. As a result, the models with high predictive power were linear regression model, Gaussian process regression model, and support vector machine. The proportion of training data and predictive power were not proportional. In addition, the average value of the difference between the predicted value and the measured value was not large, but when the measured value was high, the predictive power was decreased. The results of this study can be developed as a more systematic and precise fine dust prediction service by combining meteorological data and urban big data through local government data hubs. Lastly, it will be an opportunity to promote the development of smart industrial complexes.

Vehicle-Bridge Interaction Analysis of Railway Bridges by Using Conventional Trains (기존선 철도차량을 이용한 철도교의 상호작용해석)

  • In this study, the numerical method is presented, which can consider the various train types and can solve the equations of motion for a vehicle-bridge interaction analysis by non-iteration procedure through formulating the coupled equations of motion. The coupled equations of motion for the vehicle-bridge interaction are solved by the Newmark ${\beta}$ of a direct integration method, and by composing the effective stiffness matrix and the effective force vector according to a analysis step, those can be solved with the same manner of the solving procedure of equilibrium equations in static analysis. Also, the effective stiffness matrix is reconstructed by the Skyline method for increasing the analysis effectiveness. The Cholesky's matrix decomposition scheme is applied to the analysis procedure for minimizing the numerical errors that can be generated in directly calculating the inverse matrix. The equations of motion for the conventional trains are derived, and the numerical models of the conventional trains are idealized by a set of linear springs and dashpots with 16 degrees of freedom. The bridge models are simplified by the 3 dimensional space frame element which is based on the Euler-Bernoulli theory. The rail irregularities of vertical and lateral directions are generated by the PSD functions of the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The results of the vehicle-bridge interaction analysis are verified by the experimental results for the railway plate girder bridges of a span length with 12 m, 18 m, and the experimental and analytical data are applied to the low pass filtering scheme, and the basis frequency of the filtering is a 2 times of the 1st fundamental frequency of a bridge bending.

The Examination of Load Carrying Capacity Based on Existing Data for Improved Safety Assessment Method of Expressway Bridges (고속도로 교량의 개선된 안전성 평가방안을 위한 실측자료에 기초한 공용 내하력 검토)

  • The safety of expressway bridges was estimated by checking the external condition rank based on the nondestructive inspection and material test and by measuring load carrying capacity based on the result of load test. Although the load carrying capacity of the bridges was clearly low compared to the design standard, it was examined that many of the bridges have good external condition rank relatively. Also, it can be assured that load carrying capacity shows a considerable difference according to various condition even though the bridges have similar construction year and a structural type. Therefore, this study showed various problems of the current safety measurement of expressway bridges by considering the status of the expressway bridges, external condition rank, and method of safety diagnosis and repair, rehabilitation for maintenance. Based on the existing data of over 400 expressway bridges, the load carrying capacity was analyzed quantitatively considering bridge type, serviced life, design live load, external condition rank and traffic count as variables. The result of this study will be expected to provide the basic information for a reasonable safety assessment of expressway bridge.

Investigation of Intertidal Zone using TerraSAR-X (TerraSAR-X를 이용한 조간대 관측)

  • The main objective of the research is a feasibility study on the intertidal zone using a X-band radar satellite, TerraSAR-X. The TerraSAR-X data have been acquired in the west coast of Korea where large tidal flats, Ganghwa and Yeongjong tidal flats, are developed. Investigations include: 1) waterline and backscattering characteristics of the high resolution X-band images in tidal flats; 2) polarimetric signature of halophytes (or salt marsh plants), specifically Suaeda japonica; and 3) phase and coherence of interferometric pairs. Waterlines from TerraSAR-X data satisfy the requirement of horizontal accuracy of 60 m that corresponds to 20 cm in average height difference while current other spaceborne SAR systems could not meet the requirement. HH-polarization was the best for extraction of waterline, and its geometric position is reliable due to the short wavelength and accurate orbit control of the TerraSAR-X. A halophyte or salt marsh plant, Suaeda japonica, is an indicator of local sea level change. From X-band ground radar measurements, a dual polarization of VV/VH-pol. is anticipated to be the best for detection of the plant with about 9 dB difference at 35 degree incidence angle. However, TerraSAR-X HH/TV dual polarization was turned to be more effective for salt marsh monitoring. The HH-HV value was the maximum of about 7.9 dB at 31.6 degree incidence angle, which is fairly consistent with the results of X-band ground radar measurement. The boundary of salt marsh is effectively traceable specifically by TerraSAR-X cross-polarization data. While interferometric phase is not coherent within normal tidal flat, areas of salt marsh where the landization is preceded show coherent interferometric phases regardless of seasons or tide conditions. Although TerraSAR-X interferometry may not be effective to directly measure height or changes in tidal flat surface, TanDEM-X or other future X-band SAR tandem missions within one-day interval would be useful for mapping tidal flat topography.

Load Carrying Capacity Assessment of Bridges with Elastic Supports Application (탄성지점의 적용에 따른 교량의 내하력평가)

  • This study applied elastic supports in order to evaluate load carrying capacity using measurement data obtained from load tests actively and utilizing various evaluation methods. In order to confirm the adequacy of structural analysis based on elastic supports and to improve the reliability of experiment results, we conducted a deflection test with flexural beams prepared as overhanging beams and, based on the results, performed precision safety diagnosis for real bridges under public service for improving the load carrying capacity evaluation method for bridges under public service. In the results of the bending test, compared to deflection calculated by the existing method, deflection obtained by applying elastic supports was closer to the actually measured deflection. In the results of evaluating load carrying capacity for a 3 span continuous steel box girder bridge just after its completion, load carrying capacity by elastic supports was smaller by up to 39% than that by the existing method. When the load carrying capacity of bridges is evaluated by the existing method the results vary among engineers due to lack of guidelines for evaluation such as the application of stress modification factor. This study was conducted as an effort to solve this problem through active research.

Interoperability Analysis of GPS and Galileo on Time (GPS와 Galileo 시각의 상호운용성 분석)

  • The users who use a combined GPS/Galileo receiver will benefit from an improved availability of the combined system and a reduced dependence on one particular positioning system. However, these users must solve the problem of an offset between the time scales of GPS and Galileo (GGTO). GGTO must be analyzed for not only a navigation system but also a timing system requesting precise time service. This paper analyzes the interoperability problem in a combined GPS/Galileo timing receiver and estimates the timing performance under various assumptions. The GPS real measurements were collected by using the commercial timing receiver from Ashtech Ltd. and the Galileo measurements were generated by a simulation software. A suitable test scenario set-up and the performance in a point of timing stability was evaluated.

  • 현지관측을 통한 지속적이고 광범위한 지역에 대해 정확하고 정밀하게 조사하여 종합적인 분석과 예측, 결정과정에 있어서, 복잡한 해양의 특성, 여러가지 조사 작업상의 난점, 경제적, 시간적으로 많은 어려움이 따르게 된다. 하지만, 위성원격탐사와 GIS를 이용한 해양환경파악기법은 현지관측에서 얻을 수 있는 제한적인 자료이외의 다량의 자료를 정성 및 정량적으로 데이터베이스화하여 분석함과 동시에 가시화함으로써 해양개발로 인해 불가피하게 초래될 수밖에 없는 환경을 보다 정확하게, 객관적으로 분석하여 장기적으로 예측할 수 있는 고도화된 환경조사 및 평가 기술이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 고해상도 위성자료인 Landsat TM 영상과 NOAA AVHRR 자료를 이용하여 수온 및 클로로필을 추출하였으며, GIS를 이용하여 현지관측자료 및 수치해도를 기초로 공간분포도를 작성함으로서 그 외의 수질환경요소를 산출하였다. 위성영상분석은 현장조사와 같은 시점의 Landsat TM 위성영상을 획득하여, 위성 영상은 지구의 곡률과 자전, 위성체의 자세와 고도 및 속도, 그리고 센서의 기하 특성으로 인하여 실제의 지형에 대하여 기하학적 왜곡을 가지고 있으므로 지형도에서 지상기준점(Ground Control Point, GCP)를 추출하여 ERDAS Imagine으로 UTM좌표체계에 따른 기하보정(Geometric Correction)을 실시하였으며, 동일한 시기의 NOAA AVHRR영상을 데이터로 처리하여 수온자료를 추출하였다. 표층수온과 현장관측에 의한 클로로필을 수치 지도화하기 위하여 열적외선영역인 TM band 6의 분광특성값(Digital Number)과 동일한 위치의 수온자료를 기초로 회귀분석을 실시함으로써 수온추출 알고리즘을 도출하여, 분석데이터의 신뢰도를 검증하였으며, 수온, 클로로필, 투명도 등을 위성원격탐사 자료와 GIS를 이용하여 공간분석을 실시하고, 공간분포도를 작성함으로써 대상해역의 해양환경을 파악하였다. 본 연구결과, 분석된 위성자료가 현장조사에 의한 검증이 이루어지지 않을 경우, 영상자료분석을 통한 표층수온 추출은 대기 중의 수증기와 에어로졸에 의한 계산치의 오차가 반영되기 때문에 실측치 보다 낮게 평가 될 수 있으므로, 반드시 이에 대한 검증이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 현지관측에 비해 막대한 비용과 시간을 절약할 수 있는 위성영상해석방법을 이용한 방법은 해양수질파악이 가능할 것으로 판단되며, GIS를 이용하여 다양하고 복잡한 자료를 데이터베이스화함으로써 가시화하고, 이를 기초로 공간분석을 실시함으로써 환경요소별 공간분포에 대한 파악을 통해 수치모형실험을 이용한 각종 환경영향의 평가 및 예측을 위한 기초자료로 이용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

  • 물순환계를 종합적으로 관리하기 위해서는 물순환계의 모니터링과 해석모형의 구축이 필요하다. 실측자료만으로는 복잡 다양한 물순환계 구조 및 인과관계를 규명할 수 없기 때문에 시간적 공간적으로 변화하는 다양한 수문현상을 일관된 하나의 시스템으로 이해하기 위해 물순환 해석모델을 구축하여 검토할 필요가 있다. CAT(Catchment hydrologic cycle Analysis Tool)은 수문학적으로 균일하게 판단되는 범위를 소유역으로 분할하여 지형학적 요인에 의한 유출 특성을 객관적으로 반영할 수 있게 하며, 토양층에 따라 침투, 증발, 지하수 흐름 등의 모의가 가능하도록 하는 Link-Node 모형으로, 증발산은 기준 증발산을 외부에서 직접 입력하거나, Penman-Monteith 방법을 선택할 수 있으며, 침투는 토양의 수리전도도에 따른 연직방향 침투 및 사면방향 복귀류를 고려할 수 있다. 노드의 지하수 유거를 고려하여 기존 노드-링크 방식 모형의 장기 유출 해석시 제한점을 보완하였으며, Muskingum, Muskingum-Cunge, Kinematic wave 방법을 이용하여 하도추적을 모의할 수 있다. 또한 GUI를 통해 사용자가 손쉽게 모형을 적용하고 관리 할 수 있도록 하고, 여러 시나리오를 적용함에 있어서 편리하도록 개발 중인 모형이다. 본 연구에서는 개발중인 CAT 모형을 평가 하기위해 시험 유역으로 운영 중인 설마천 유역에 적용하여 소유역 분할(노드수), 계산 시간 간격(일/시단위) 등에 따른 적용성을 평가하였다. 관측 자료를 통해 구축 가능한 물리적 매개변수를 통해 해당 유역을 단일 노드 및 다중 노드로 간단히 모형화할 수 있었으며, 모의 결과, 관측 유량과 적절히 일치하는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 1시간 단위에 대한 모의에서도 유출을 적절히 모의할 수 있었으며, 소규모 유역에 대한 정밀한 물순환 해석이 가능할 것으로 평가되었다.

Tolerance Analysis on 3-D Object Modeling Errors in Model-Based Camera Tracking (모델 기반 카메라 추적에서 3차원 객체 모델링의 허용 오차 범위 분석)

  • Accuracy of the 3-D model is essential in model-based camera tracking. However, 3-D object modeling requires dedicated and complicated procedures for precise modeling without any errors. Even if a 3-D model contains a certain level of errors, on the other hand, the tracking errors cause by the modeling errors can be different from its perceptual errors; thus, it is an important aspect that the camera tracking can be successful without precise 3-D modeling if the modeling errors are within the user's permissible range. In this paper, we analyze the tolerance of 3-D object modeling errors by comparing computational matching errors with perceptual matching errors through user evaluations, and also discuss permissible ranges of 3-D object modeling errors.

Prediction Method of the BOG for the Membrane Type LNGC in Middle East Route (중동항로 취항 멤브레인형 LNGC의 BOG 예측에 관한 연구)

  • LNGC suffers a great heat inflow during navigation and this heat inflow inevitably boils off the LNG. The boiled off gas(BOG) is normally consumed as a fuel for ship's engine. The boiled off LNG means a loss of cargo during transportation from the viewpoint of shipper. Therefore, a contract between shipper and ship operator is made on the limit of boiled off rate(BOR) under 0.15 %/day based on laden voyage. This contract on BOR limit requires that ship's officer has a correct knowledge on BOR for his ship. But, in most cases ship is operated based on only officer's experiences. In this study, author presented a simple model to predict the boiled off gas(BOG) during navigation based on the existing precision heat exchange design technology about the heat distribution on the hull and heat inflow from outside through the hull. The BOG is calculated for ballast and laden voyage based on the actual weather conditions and verified by comparing with the measured BOG for the study ship. The study ship is a membrane type LNGC which is now servicing in Middle east route. Thus, the BOG prediction method which is presented in this study is expected to be used for an useful tool to manage the BOG in now servicing LNGC.
