The Braking Performance of Touch Free Linear Eddy Current Brake According to The number of Poles (극수변화에 따른 비접촉 와전류 제동기의 제동 특성)

  • This paper describes the braking performance of the eddy current brake for high speed trains according to the number of poles. The eddy current brake systems have to be equipped with the maximum braking force and deceleration in the given volume or mass, high braking force rate, as small normal forces as possible and stable construction. The parameters, such as the number of poles, electric ampere turns, slot width have influence on the braking force characteristics. In this paper, the effect of braking performance from the variation of the number poles is calculated by using FEM, the number of the pole which makes the maximum braking force is proposed.

  • Hardness test is performed for determination of the other properties, such as strength, wear resistance and deformation resistance, as well as hardness itself. And it is performed for prediction of residual lifetime by analysis of hardness reduction or hardness ratio. However, hardness test has limitation that observation of residual indent is needed for determination of hardness value, and that is the reason for not to be widely used in industrial field. Therefore, in this study, we performed researches to obtain Brinell hardness value from quantitative numerical formula by analysing relationship between indentation depths from indentation load-depth curve and mechanical properties such as work hardening exponent, yield strength and elastic modulus.

  • 점성질의 바이오폴리머를 토양과 혼합하면 흙 입자 사이에 유기막이 형성되고 이로 인해 흙의 결합력이 상승하여 흐르는 물속에서도 결합을 유지시킬 수 있게 된다. 이러한 바이오폴리머의 성질을 이용한다면 물과 접촉이 많은 제방의 강도를 보다 높일 수 있을 것이다. 국내 제방 중에는 지역에 따라 모래 성분이 많은 제방이 존재하며, 이러한 제방들은 홍수 시 파손이나 붕괴의 위험을 항상 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 국내 현황을 참고하여 제체로 사용하기에 적합하지 않은 조립질의 모래에서도 바이오폴리머를 활용할 수 있는지를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 모래와 바이오폴리머를 혼합, 도포한 시험체를 만들고 이를 실규모 실험수로에 설치하여 소하천 규모의 흐르는 물에 노출시킨 후 시험체가 어느 정도까지 침식에 저항할 수 있는지를 분석하였다. 시험체는 식생이 활착되지 않은 상태와 식생이 활착된 상태의 두 가지 조건으로 제작하였다. 두 조건 모두 바이오폴리머로 인해 모래의 결합력이 높아지는 것을 실험을 통해 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 식생이 활착된 경우에는 흐르는 물에서의 침식 저항 능력이 식생이 없는 경우보다 월등히 상승하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Experimental Evaluation on Bond Strengths of Reinforcing Bar in Coils with Improved Machinability during Straightening Process (직선화 가공성을 고려한 코일철근의 실험적 부착강도 평가)

  • A new deformation of reinforcing bar in coils was proposed to improve a machinability of straightening process, which has crescent-shaped transverse ribs with an inclination angle of 50 degrees, a crest width of $0.15d_b$, and a flank inclination of 55 degrees. The proposed deformation can increase contact area between a surface of re-bar and a groove of a roller during a straightening process and, therefore, it might reduce a damage of ribs, improve a final straightness, and enhance an efficiency of the straightening process. Splice tests were conducted to evaluate bond strengths of three types of re-bar in coils including the proposed re-bar, of which the inclination angles of transverse ribs were 50, 60, and 90 degrees, respectively. Test results show that the re-bars in coils have higher bond strengths than predicted strengths by equations of Orangun et al., ACI 408, and KCI by at least 10%. Correlation coefficients of bond strengths between a straight bar and re-bars in coils are 0.94 and more. Consequently, equations of the KCI code for determining development and splice lengths can be applied to the tested re-bars in coils.

Adhesion Characteristics of Polymers and Ceramic Surface Coated on Metal by Plasma Spray (플라즈마 용사법에 의한 금속면에 세라믹 코팅된 표면과 범용고분자와의 접착특성)

  • The adhesion characteristics of the thermoplastic resins such as PE, PP PVC, PET and PS were investigated on the surfaces of conventional steel (SS41), steel (SS41P) treated with ultrasonic waves and the SS41P coated with several ceramic powders (SS41PC) by the plasma spray. Alumina (Al$_2$O$_3$), alumina titania (Al$_2$O$_3$95%, TiO$_2$ 5%) and zirconia yttria (ZrO$_2$ 95%, $Y_2$O$_3$5% ) were used for the materials plasma spray The morphologies, surface hardness, surface roughness, and contact angles on SS41, SS41P, and SS41PC were examined. The tensile shear strength and peel strength of the polymers which were attached to the surfaces of ceramics coated on SS41P also were measured. The tensile shear strength and peel strength of polymers adhered to ceramic surface coated on steel were found to be stronger than those of conventional steel. The tensile shear strength and peel strength of the polymers adhered on the surfaces of ceramics coated steel increased in the following order PE > PET > PP > PS > PVC. The high adhesion strength of PE may be attributed to the surface roughness and its anchor effect on the ceramic surface.

A Study for the Adaptation of Simulation of Uniaxial Compressive Strength Test for Concrete in 3-Dimensional Particle Bonded Model (3차원 입자 결합 모델에서 콘크리트의 일축압축실험 모사 적용성 연구)

  • In an uniaxial compressive test of a concrete standard specimen (150$\times$300 mm) the crack initiation and extension with the stress increase are the major reason of the failure, which is similar to the breakage of the particle bonding in the simulation by using particle bonded model, especially particle flow code in 3 dimensions (PFC3D) developed by Itasca Consulting Group Inc. That is the main motive to study the possibility of an uniaxial compressive strength test simulation. It is important to investigate the relationship between the micro-parameters and the macro-properties because the 3-dimensional particle bonded model uses the spherical particles to analyze the physical phenomena. Contact bonded model used herein has eight micro-parameters and there are five macro-properties; Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, uniaxial compressive strength and the crack initiation stress and the ratio concerning the crack propagation with the stress. To simulate the compressive test we made quantitative relationships between the micro-parameters and the macro-properties by using the fractional factorial design and various sensitivity analyses including regression analysis, which result in the good agreement with the previous studies. Also, the stress-stain curve and the crack distribution over the specimen given by PFC3D showed the mechanical behavior of the concrete standard specimen under the uniaxial compression. It is concluded that the particle bonded model can be a good tool for the analyzing the mechanical behavior of concrete under the uniaxial compressive load.

Optophysical Properties of Hydrogel Ophthalmic Lenses Containing Gallate Group (Gallate group이 포함된 친수성 안의료용 렌즈의 광물리적 특성)

  • HEMA (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate), EGDMA (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate; cross-linker), MMA (methyl methacrylate) and AA (acrylic acid) were copolymerized with ethyl gallate and propyl gallate as additives in the presence of AIBN (2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile; initiator). The measurement of physical properties of the produced copolymers exhibited that refractive index, water content, visible transmittance, tensile strength, and contact angle were in the range of 1.433-1.435, 38.71-38.99%, 85.4-88.8%, 0.2468-0.2740 kgf and $49.77-36.29^{\circ}$, respectively. The transmittances of the copolymers were measured to be in the range of 49.0-7.4% and 71.0-43.4% for UV-B and UV-A, respectively, indicating that the copolymers have UV-blocking effect. The produced copolymers containing ethyl gallate and propyl gallate satisfied the basic physical properties required for the fabrication of hydrogel contact lenses. The copolymers showed an increase of wettability and UV-blocking effects while having no significant change in water content compared to the gallate-free copolymers.

  • This study was conducted to clarify the characteristics of Holstein dairy cow's vocalization in postpartum related with calf isolation. Vocalizations of 16 individuals of cows were recorded 6 hours per day (1:00am~4:00am and 1:00pm~4:00pm) using digital recorder and microphone during October 2008 and May 2009. Vocalizations were divided into 4 types. Characteristics of frequency, intensity and duration were analyzed by GLM (general linear model) and Duncan's multi-test. There were significant differences in frequency and intensity based on analyses of spectrogram and spectrum among 4 types of vocalizations. Frequencies of vocalizations were dramatically decreased on 2nd and 3rd day. Vocalization would be important factor affecting the motheryoung bond in Holstein dairy cattle.

  • Nowadays, most car manufactures have tried to improve fuel efficiency and corrosion resistance of car body. Therefore, use of high strength steels and coated steel becomes more and more increased. In this study, spot weld characteristics according to lap sequence of sheets were analyzed using simulation method for three different steel sheet of car body which were EDDQ class coated steel with 0.7t, high strength steel 440R with 1.2t and advanced high strength steel DP 590 with 1.0t. Using simulation, weldability was evaluated by nugget size of welded zone according to nugget growth curve and welding current with respect to lap sequence of sheets. Contact resistance of each sheets contact point was used to analyze formation of nugget and optimal lap sequence was suggested.

The Technically optimal Solution would be the storage of Intelligence information in the most common form of electronic data-carrying device in use in everyday life is the smart card based upon a contact field (telephone smart card, bank cards). The method of an indoor positioning experiment system is compared using measured Location data and a charge of service. The result of research showed the following: first, to check out the mechanism between benefit of system installation and operation of Active RFID. Second, it contributed on indoor wireless location intelligence system efficiency.
