Ultrasound Measurement of Coracohumeral Distance in Patients with or without Subcoracoid Impingement (오구돌기하 충돌 증후군 유무에 따른 초음파를 이용한 상완오구돌기 계측)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate coracohumeral distance (CHD) in patients with or without subcoracoid impingement with hypothesis that patients with subcoracoid impingement would have narrower CHD. Materials and Methods: One hundred twenty-four patients with subacromial impingement were evaluated. The subjects with subcoracoid impingement which was affirmed clinically and confirmed by ultrasound guided subcoracoid injection (n=28) was compared with patients with subacromial impingement only (n=96). Patients with stiffness and rotator cuff tear were excluded. Absolute CHD was measured on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) axial images and on ultrasound with the humerus in neutral position and internal rotation. Also relative ratio of distance difference (RRDD) defined as the difference of CHD in neutral position and internal rotation compared with absolute CHD in neutral on ultrasound was also measured. Results: The distance measured in neutral position was similar between US imaging and MRI (p>0.05) and both measurements did not have significant difference between the two groups (p>0.05). On ultrasound, the difference in CHD in internal rotation between the two groups nearly met the level of significance (p=0.07). No significant difference of CHD difference in two humeral positions was seen between the two groups. However, RRDD value was significantly greater in subcoracoid impingement group (p<0.05). Conclusion: No significant difference of CHD was seen between the subcoracoid impingement group and the control group. RRDD value was greater in subcoracoid impingement group suggesting that individualized coracohumeral distance in internal rotation should be taken into account when assessing patients with subcoracoid impingement.

DETERMINATIONS OF ITS ABSOLUTE DIMENSIONS AND DISTANCE BY THE ANALYSES OF LIGHT AND RADIAL-VELOCITY CURVES OF THE CONTACT BINARY - II. CK Bootis (접촉쌍성의 광도와 시선속도곡선의 분석에 의한 절대 물리량과 거리의 결정-II. CK Bootis)

  • We completed the light curves of the contact binary CK Boo for 13 nights from June to July in 2004 using the 1-m reflector and BVR filters at Mt. Lemmon Optical Astronomy Observatory, and determined four new times of minimum light (three timings for primary eclipse, one for secondary). With contact mode of the 1998-version Wilson-Devinney binary model, we analyzed our BVR light curves and Rucinski & Lu (1999)'s radial-velocity ones. As a result, we found CK boo to be A-type over-contact binary ($f=84\%$) with the low mass ratio (q=0.11) and orbital inclination ($i=65^{\circ}$). Absolute dimensions of the system are determined from our new solution; $M_1=1.42Me{\odot},\;M_2=0.15M{\odot},\;R_1=1.47R{\odot},\;R_2=0.59M{\odot}$ and the distance to it is derived as about 129pc. Our distance is well consistent with that ($157{\pm}33pc$) from the Hipparcos trigonometric parallax within the limit of the error yielded by the latter.

Dimensional Quality Assessment for Assembly Part of Prefabricated Steel Structures Using a Stereo Vision Sensor (스테레오 비전 센서 기반 프리팹 강구조물 조립부 형상 품질 평가)

  • This study presents a technique for assessing the dimensional quality of assembly parts in Prefabricated Steel Structures (PSS) using a stereo vision sensor. The stereo vision system captures images and point cloud data of the assembly area, followed by applying image processing algorithms such as fuzzy-based edge detection and Hough transform-based circular bolt hole detection to identify bolt hole locations. The 3D center positions of each bolt hole are determined by correlating 3D real-world position information from depth images with the extracted bolt hole positions. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is then employed to calculate coordinate axes for precise measurement of distances between bolt holes, even when the sensor and structure orientations differ. Bolt holes are sorted based on their 2D positions, and the distances between sorted bolt holes are calculated to assess the assembly part's dimensional quality. Comparison with actual drawing data confirms measurement accuracy with an absolute error of 1mm and a relative error within 4% based on median criteria.

  • Since 1960s, a container shipping volume has increased dramatically and continuous on a trend of rapid growth, and so the number of containers handled at the port increases. The position measurement of the yard crane is very important for improving the operating efficiency of the port. This paper describes the method to measure the absolute position of yard crane accurately and rapidly, using both the output pulse of an encoder and infrared sensors. The crane position is calculated by counting the output pulse of an incremental encoder, which is mounted on the wheel in the crane. By the way, the wheel slippage on rail may cause some errors in the crane position information obtained from encoder pulse, and the infrared sensor is used to compensate for errors in the crane position information. The performance of proposed method is verified on experimental results with the simulator of yard crane, the size of which is about 1/10 with the real crane.

Home Appliance Position Recognition through Hand Pointing Command for Arbitrary Camera Location (손 지시 명령을 통한 임의의 카메라 배치에서의 가전기기 위치 인식)

  • 지능형 주거공간에서 손 지시 명령을 통하여 가전기기를 선택하거나 로봇에게 이동하여야 하는 장소를 알려 주기 위해, 기존의 시스템은 선택되는 대상 기기의 3 차원 절대 위치를 미리 알고 있어야 한다. 또한 카메라 위치가 변동되었을 경우, 카메라의 위치를 절대좌표계 기준으로 새롭게 측정해야 하는 불편함이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 팬/틸트 모듈을 가진 두 대의 USB 카메라를 임의의 위치에 배치하더라도, 두 번의 손 지시만으로 선택 대상이 되는 기기의 3 차원 위치를 파악하고 이를 동작시키는 방법을 다룬다. 제안하는 방법에서는 두 대의 카메라 간의 상대 좌표계를 형성하기 위해 각 카메라에 표식을 부착한다. 각 카메라에서 다른 카메라의 표식을 관찰하면 카메라 간의 거리 및 각도를 구할 수 있기 때문에, 하나의 카메라를 기준으로 3 차원 절대 좌표계를 자동으로 설정할 수 있다. 또한, 두 대의 카메라로 사용자의 얼굴과 손을 검출하면 얻어진 기준 좌표계에 대해 얼굴과 손의 3 차원 위치를 계산하고, 두 지점을 연결하는 방향 벡터를 구함으로써 사용자가 손으로 지시하는 방향을 찾는다. 따라서, 카메라를 임의의 위치에 두더라도 사용자의 손 지시 동작만으로 대상체의 차원 위치를 파악할 수 있게 된다. 개발된 시스템의 유용성을 검증하기 위해 각 가전기기의 위치를 제안한 방법으로 구하고 실제 위치와의 오차를 분석하였다. 제안한 방법은 두 대의 USB 카메라와 일반 PC 또는 마이크로 프로세서만으로 구현할 수 있기 때문에 비용이 적게 들고 실시간 처리가 가능하며 사용자의 환경에서 편리성을 높이는 등 많은 장점을 가진다.

Experimental Assessment on Accuracy of Kinematic Coordinate Estimation for CORS by GPS Medium-range Baseline Processing Technique (GPS 상시관측소 동적 좌표추정을 위한 중기선해석 정확도의 실험적 분석)

  • The study has purposed in evaluating experiences for achievable accuracy and precision of time series at 3-D coordinates. It has been estimated from the kinematic medium-range baseline processing of Continuously Operating Reference Stations (CORS) for the potential application of crustal displacement analysis during an earthquake event. To derive the absolute coordinates of local CORS, it is highly recommended to include some of oversea country references, since it should be compromised of an observation network of the medium-range baselines within the length range from tens of kilometers to about 1,000 kilometers. A data processing procedure has reflected the dynamics of target stations as the parameter estimation stages, which have been applied to a series of experimental analysis in this research at the end. From the analysis of results, we could be concluded in that the subcentimeters-level of positioning accuracy and precision can be achievable. Furthermore, the paper summarizes impacts of satellite ephemeris, data lengths and levels of initial coordinate constraint into the positioning performance.

Updating Digital Map using Images from Airborne Digital Camera (항공디지털카메라 영상을 이용한 수치지도 갱신)

  • As the availability of images from Airborne Digital Camera with high resolution is expanded, a lot of concern are in the production and update of digital map. This study presents the method of updating the digital map at the scale of 1/1,000 using images from Aerial Digital Camera. Geometric correction was completed using GPS surveying data. For digital mapping, digital photogrammetric system was utilized to digitize buildings and roads. The absolute positional accuracy was evaluated using GPS surveying data and the relative positional accuracy was evaluated using the digital map produced by analytical mapping. The absolute positional accuracy was as follows: RMSE in X and Y were ${\pm}0.172m\;and\;{\pm}0.127m$, and average distance error was 0.208m. The relative positional accuracy was as follows: RMSE in X and Y were ${\pm}0.238m\;and\;{\pm}0.281m$, and average distance error was 0.337m. Accuracies of updating digital map using images from airborne Digital Camera were within allowable error established by NGII. Consequently, images from airborne Digital Camera can be used in various fields including the production of the national basic map and the GIS of local government.

Monitoring of Volcanic Activity of Augustine Volcano, Alaska Using TCPInSAR and SBAS Time-series Techniques for Measuring Surface Deformation (시계열 지표변위 관측기법(TCPInSAR와 SBAS)을 이용한 미국 알라스카 어거스틴 화산활동 감시)

  • Permanent Scatterer InSAR (PSInSAR) technique extracts permanent scatterers exhibiting high phase stability over the entire observation period and calculates precise time-series deformation at Permanent Scatterer (PS) points by using single master interferograms. This technique is not a good method to apply on nature environment such as forest area where permanent scatterers cannot be identified. Another muti-temporal Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), Small BAseline Subset (SBAS) technique using multi master interferograms with short baselines, can be effective to detect deformation in forest area. However, because of the error induced from phase unwrapping, the technique sometimes fails to estimate correct deformation from a stack of interferograms. To overcome those problems, we introduced new multi-temporal InSAR technique, called Temporarily Coherence Point InSAR (TCPInSAR), in this paper. This technique utilizes multi master interferograms with short baseline and without phase unwrapping. To compare with traditional multi-temporal InSAR techniques, we retrieved spatially changing deformation because PSs have been found enough in forest area with TCPInSAR technique and time-series deformation without phase unwrapping error. For this study, we acquired ERS-1 and ERS-2 SAR dataset on Augustine volcano, Alaska and detected deformation in study area for the period 1992-2005 with SBAS and TCPInSAR techniques.

Mapping Time-distance Cartogram and the Accessibility Analysis in Korea (시간거리 접근성 카토그램 제작 및 접근성 공간구조 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to produce time-distance cartograms based on the various Korean transportation networks, and to analyze the spatial structure of time-distance accessibilities. For the purpose this study attempts to develop continuous area cartogram by utilizing Wolf's algorithm for creating contiguous cartogram in ArcGIS 9. The absolute physical space was transformed to the functional space indexed by time-distances along various transportation networks in Korea. We examined the differences in the time-distance accessibilities among transportation networks. This study makes a comparison between the spatial structure of time-distance accessibility of KTX network with them of existing railroad network, as well as with them of road network. In order to clarify the spatial structures of time-distance accessibilities, we restructured them on the time-distance circular diagrams and performing Multi-Dimensional Scaling analysis. Overall structure of time-distance accessibilities shows similar patterns: The time distances are shrinked a lot along the Seoul-Busan axis, while coastal parts, in particular the eastern part of the county, are shrinked relatively little via all transportation networks. The Road network affects significantly on the accessibilities of cities in Gangwon-do and Gyeonggi-do, while railway network affects on the accessibilities of cities in Jeolla-do and Gyeongsang-do in general. When we compared the time-distance accessibilities based on the 5 largest cities, Seoul appears as the most accessible city from/to all other cities in Korea. We can also find significant changes in the time-distance accessibility between KTX network and existing railroad network. Cities along the KTX network, in particular cities which has KTX stops, improved significantly in time-distance accessibilities.

Current Status of Geo-referenced Contents and a New Street Level Contents (공간정보 콘텐츠의 현황 및 새로운 거리 수준 콘텐츠)

  • The high popularity of geo-referenced mash-up improves the quality and availability of geo-referenced contents. Such contents which accurately represent the real world in street level as well as in aerial level have appeared. Despite the advent of geo-referenced contents of street level, it is still hardly used for mash-up. In this study, we thus find out its obstacles to spatial mash-up and solutions to overcome them to activate the mash-up based on street level contents. By analyzing the current geo-referenced content with respect to its spatial scope and the way of representation, we draw the limitations of current street level contents. Furthermore, we propose the 'new media geo-referenced content' as a solution to overcome those limitations. With 'new media geo-referenced content', it is able to determine the 3D coordinates of given object in real world. Using those coordinates, database linkage can be more closer, flexible and organic. Such 'new media geo-referenced content' can contribute to activation of geo-referenced contents in street level and its mash-up.
