Effects of a Health Promotion Program on College Students Who are on the Brink of Dyslipidemia, Based on Cox's Interaction Model (Cox의 상호작용 모델에 근거한 이상지질혈증 경계범위 대학생의 건강증진 프로그램 효과)

  • This experimental research is aimed to apply a health promotion program based on Cox's interaction model to such college students as are on the brink of dyslipidemia, so as to investigate the effects of the program on the subjects' blood lipid indexes including total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and low-density lipoproteins (LDL). The subjects are 39 in all including the experimental group comprising 20 and the control group comprising 19. The analyses applied include descriptive statistics using SPSS WIN 18.0, $X^2$-test, independent t-test, and paired t-test. By means of nursing interventions which are an element of client-professional interaction, the following were offered including health information (exercise management, dietary management, health education), emotional support (sharing of experiences, encouragement, self expression), decision-making controlling (counselling by phone), and professional/ technical abilities; and blood lipid indexes were measured before and after the interventions. The results of this research found that TC, TG and LDL decreased significantly and HDL increased significantly in the experimental group, which indicates that the health promotion program was effective.

  • The purpose of this study was to apply a teaching method that fits the characteristics of learners through the improvement and application of subjects for reinforcing SWP, and to seek ways to strengthen field practice. As a result of the study, first, as a method of applying learner motivation, it is necessary to conduct discussions by inviting practitioners in the field, and to watch the progress of projects by type of social welfare site. Second, as a way to participate in learners, it is necessary to analyze excellent proposals, participate in events held at welfare sites, present various dilemma cases in the field, and try to overcome ethical dilemmas by sharing cases overcoming dilemma, and to make efforts to list practical skills required in social welfare field practice. Third, it is necessary to apply such methods as phone calls, e-campus, Kakao Talk, Zoom, and counseling techniques that are conducted in the case management process as a way to apply interaction, and discuss issues that are important in the welfare field.

Analysis of Telephone Counseling Service on Child Health (전화 아기건강상담을 통해 나타난 우리나라 어머니들의 육아문제 분석)

  • This study analyzed the services as operated by the Child Health Telephone Service Center. The Center is a toll free service operated as part of the community services of the Korean Academic Society of Child Health Nursing. The aim of the study was to describe the concerns of child caregivers regarding child health care as discussed during telephone counseling. Specific objectives were as follows: 1. To analyze the activities of the Center. 2. To describe the characteristics of caregivers who made phone calls for counseling services and also the characteristics of their children. 3. To analyze the content of the counseling sessions. 4. To analyze counseling content according to the characteristics of the caregivers and their children. Data used for the study were obtained from the counseling records for the period from Sept. to Dec. 1999, as kept by the three counselors at the Center. The total number of calls was 8,261 and that consisted of 15,150 questions. The total questions were merged into 13,236 by eliminating those questions which overlapped or were of similar content. The final 13,236 questions were used for the final analyses. Almost of the callers (98.4%) were mothers. Among them 89.6% were between 25 and 35 years of age. Geographical distribution of the callers covered the whole nation. The largest numbers who made the calls were from the Seoul metropolitan area (36%), followed by 28% from Kyung Gi Province, and 20% were from the Kyung Sang area. Among 8,261 callers, 72.8% were first users. Sex of the babies and children in question for counseling was about even for males and females and ages ranged from one month to six years. The largest group (62.5%) was the less than six month age group. The finalized 13,236 questions/problems were categorized into 11 problem areas. They were in order of frequency, physical problems, feedings and nutrient concerns, information on child rearing, growth and development, guidance on utilization of child care facilities, elimination problems, sleeping concerns, immunization related concerns, behavior problems, injury and accidents, and safety measures. The most frequent problems for counseling were physical signs and symptoms (27.3%), followed by feeding and nutrients, information on child rearing, and growth and development. Of physical problems, abnormal gastrointestinal signs and symptoms were the most frequent concern and skin problems were next at 25% and 23.3% respectively. Loose bowels, vomiting and constipation were the most frequent gastrointestinal problems. Atopic dermatitis had the highest frequency at 53.3% with diaper rash being the second highest among the skin problems. About 80% of the growth and developmental category were physical development concerns related to physiological, body growth, and motor and sensory development. This study constitutes the activity report for the first year of the Center. The findings correspond with literature reports on child health problems and parents educational needs. One recommendation from this study is that since the services of the Center are carried out only by telephone, the psychology of the counselees and the counselor relationship must be considered for better services.

Clinical Feature and Dietary Pattern of Infantile Constipation Under Two Years of Age (2세 이하 영유아 변비의 임상 양상과 식이 방식)

  • Purpose: Infantile constipation is one of the most common problems in pediatric gastrointestinal outpatient clinic. We planed to show the clinical feature of infantile constipation and explore the possible relationship between diets and symptoms of constipation. Methods: We analyzed the medical records and telephone questionnaire about infants under 2 years of age with constipation, who visited outpatient clinic of Department of Pediatrics, Ilsan Paik Hospital during the time from March 2002 to February 2005. Data including the symptoms and signs of constipation, diet history, and past-medical history were analyzed. Results: Total 96 infants, 40 male and 56 female, were enrolled in this study. The mean age was 9 months. Twenty-three infants were exclusively breast milk fed (BMF), 20 infants were cow's milk fed (CMF) and 53 infants had a history of mixed feeding with cow's milk and breast milk (MMF). Patients showed painful defecation (95.8%), abdominal distension (53.1%), palpable rectal stool (35.1%), hard stool (30.2%), blood-tinged stool (29.2%) and anal fissure (16.7%). Patients with exclusive cow milk feeding had prominent clinical features, such as anal fissure (p=0.03), hematochezia (p=0.04) and palpable rectal stool (p=0.025). Patients who had a history of larger intake of liquid food had a tendency to get anal skin tag (p<0.05). Conclusion: Exclusive breast milk feeding seemed important to avoid constipation with clinical significance. To educate caregivers in appropriate way of the weaning food may help the infants with constipation.

Service Quality of Dental Institutes Measured by SERVQUAL Model and Intention to Re-visit (SERVQUAL 모형으로 측정한 일부 치과의원의 서비스 질과 재이용의도)

  • The main purpose of this study was to identify the service quality of some dental clinics located in Gwangju and find an association between service quality and patient's intention to re-visit the same dental clinic. The search objects were 197 patients from five dental clinics, and data collected by self-administered questionnaire which was composed general characteristics, characteristics relating to visit of clinics, quality of service, patients satisfaction and intentions to re-visit. The used statistical analysis to find the association between quality of service and intention to re-visit was multiple regression analysis. This study looked at relations between quality of dental service, service satisfaction and intentions to visit again, and found that quality of service including six service areas had a statistically significant positive correlations with satisfaction and intentions of re-visit. When this study conducted a multiple regression analysis to identify variables that influence intentions of re-visit, it found that patients revisited the dental clinic only when quality of service was included. In conclusion, quality of service evaluated by patients influenced on their intention of re-visit and especially. Therefore, this study concludes that improvement in satisfaction and intentions of re-visit relies on Accessibility, that is, providing of medical information, consultant telephone, how delivery the dental medical system is.   • The present study examined factors for current conditions of dental office manager in Korean dental clinic. 108 randomly selected members of Korean dental office manager responded to a questionnaire. A survey was conducted for a month from 1, June 2008, and the chi-square test and ANOVA were used in the statistical analysis. The findings of the study were as follows: The number of members depending on the type of occupation dental hospital was the highest number of members, members of the dental hygienist at the dental hospital number significantly higher. The career of dental office manager followed by 1-5 year in dental hospital, 5-10 year in dental network, 1-5 year in dental clinic accounting for 48%, 52.9%, 69.4%. The difficulty during duty performance are high expectation of owner in dental hospital, learning of dental office manager duty in dental clinic. The duty of dental office manager followed by customer service, appointment scheduling, telephone etiquette, treatment plan. Henceforth, it needs to standardize the Korean name of dental office manager and duty. Also, it have to an official certification system.

A Compartive Study on the Overseas Business Activity of Insurance Companies in Korea and Germany - a Case of German Legal Expenses Insurance Company - (한국 및 독일 보험회사의 해외 진출 모델 비교 연구 -독일 법률비용보험회사의 사례를 중심으로-)

  • This paper attempts to find out implications based on the comparative analysis of overseas expansion model between the Korean insurance companies and the German one. There are three types of the strategies of the overseas-expansion-model of insurer, i.e. customer-oriented localized strategy, niche market-oriented strategy, and growing market-oriented strategy. From the review of related literatures and through an interview conducted by the insurance specialist, the findings are some differences between Korean and German insurance companies, when they go into foreign insurance markets. Th significant differences between Korean and German insurers are a customer oriented localized strategy and niche market oriented strategy. The Korean insurer shows a strength on the overseas-expansion-strategy, but the most clients of the Korean insurer on overseas markets are also Korean companies and Korean immigrants. The Korean legal expenses insurance market is yet in its embryonic stage, while the German legal expenses insurance company is pushing ahead with a strategy focused on localization and niche market on the legal expenses insurance product. In conclusion, like a case of the German legal expenses insurance company, the Korean insurer needs a customer oriented localized strategy as well as a niche market oriented strategy on the overseas insurance market.

A Study on Factors Affecting Reemployment of the Disabled Workers owing to Industrial Injury in Korea (산재장애인의 재취업실태와 영향요인 분석)

  • The ultimate goal of rehabilitation is social integration. Reemployment is, for the disabled workers, the primary source of not only income, but also identity and interaction. Unfortunately, for most disabled workers employment represents only a yet-to-be-fulfilled hope, a close but inaccessible goal, a daily reminder that they are not among the majority. The purpose of this study is to estimate reemployment rate in the industrial injured and to find factors affecting reemployment of disabled workers owing to industrial injury, and to make policy implication for the better industrial injury compensation rehabilitation system. The data were obtained through telephone interview with disabled worker who completed work injury compensation process in 1996-1997. The final sample was consisted of 1,060 respondents. The major findings were that almost lout of 3 disabled worker returned to work, and that the factor affecting reemployment of the disabled workers were severity injury, ADL(activity of Daily Living), the perception of disability severity, controlling for the demographic factors such as sex, age, education, marital status. The results indicated that psychosocial factors as well as physical function had influces on returning to work. The current findings suggests that rehabilitation services and policy aimed at enhancing vocational rehabilitation program and rehabilitation engineering services, and improving psychosocial resources should be considered by rehabilitation professionals and policy makers.

The Perception of Mental Health Status, Mental Health Literacy, Mental Health Welfare Center and Mental Health Business of among Local Students (일 지역사회 학생의 정신건강상태, 정신건강지식, 정신건강복지센터와 정신건강사업에 대한 인식조사)

  • This study investigated perceptions of mental health literacy, mental health status, mental health welfare center, and mental health business of local students. Totally, 388 students visiting the mental health welfare center located in G city were enrolled for the study. Data were collected from October 1 to October 26, 2018 using structured questionnaires, and analyzed by applying the IBM SPSS 24.0 statistics program. The mental health status of subjects was found to be most severely stressed (31.4%). The mental health literacy score of the subjects was 40.99 points, and 45.9% of the respondents had never heard of mental health welfare center. Considering mental health business, 68.3% had never heard of mental health counseling, and the most common way to access information about mental health or mental illness was the internet (58.0%). In addition, 75.3% respondents answered that an increase in the government budget for management of mental health and illness was required. Taken together, our results indicate the necessity to strengthen continuous education, promotion for mental health improvement, and the development of a customized mental health promotion program suitable for the student's level, through involvement of the community mental health welfare center.

Home-Based Hospice Care Provided by a Free-Standing Hospice Center: Patients' Characteristics and Service Conditions (일개 독립형 호스피스 기관의 가정호스피스 이용자 특성 및 서비스 제공 실태)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate patients' characteristics and actual conditions of home-based services offered by a free-standing hospice center. Methods: A retrospective review was performed with the medical records of 75 patients who received home-based hospice care from a free-standing hospice center from January 2014 through December 2014. Results: Most patients (54.7%) were enrolled via self-directed referral. The reason for the service termination was death at home 25.3%, admission to a hospice ward 50.7%, hospitalization 22.6% and patients' refusal 2.7%. Seventy three patients had cancer, and two patients had ALS. Among all, 58.7% were in a dying phase, and 34.7% were almost completely bedfast at the time of their enrollment in this study. When they enrolled, the patients' physical symptoms were characterized as pain (89.4%), sleep disturbance (71.2%), urinary difficulties (35.8%) and defecation difficulties (47.8%). Among all, 77.4% terminated the home visit service within one month. The mean frequency of the home visits was 3.25 (${\pm}3.98$), and less than five in 82.7% of patients. The mean frequency of the phone service was 3.40 (${\pm}3.12$). The frequency of doctor's home visits was $1.21{\pm}0.79$ on average, and the figure increased when patients' conditions turned unstable. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a home-based hospice care model with consideration of patients' characteristics and the actual service conditions delivered by free-standing hospice facilities.
