A Study on Design of Broadband Electromagnetic Wave Absorber for Single Polarization (단일편파용 광대역 전파흡수체의 설계에 관한 연구)

  • A design method of an electromagnetic wave absorber with ferrite fins in the second layer, which has very wide band frequency characteristics, is proposed and discussed. A theoretical model using the equivalent material constants method is adopted, assessed for its accuracy by comparision with the Hashin-Shtrikman formulas and compared with the conventional absorbers. Based on the model, a wide band electromagnetic wave absorber with excellent reflectivity frequency characteristics in frequency range of 30MHZ to 3530MHZ has been designed.

  • Carbon-ferrite microwave absorbers were designed experimentally and fabricated trialy, as a result of which the relative frequency bandwith of 7.3 to 8.2% were obtained under the tolerance limits of the reflection coefficients lower than -20 dB, and the matching thickness becomes 1.4 to 1.6mm, which is significantly thinner than that of the conventional ones. Furthermore, attenuation has been founded by measuring the material constants of the microwave absorbers for microwave oven and the results are compared and discussed.

  • The behavior of Ni-Zn ferrite/Mn-Zn ferrite composite electromagnetic absorber was investigated. The imaginary part of complex permeability of the composite was higher than that of either ferrite alone at all frequency range (50∼1400MHz) studied. The difference, which was pronounced in low frequency range, was reached the maximum value when the composite consisted of constituent ferrites with equal amount. Since the thickness in inversely proportional to the imaginary part of complex permeability for the ferrite absorber, it was possible to reduce the thickness of electromagnetic absorber by employing a composite of two different ferrites.

  • A wide band design method of an electromagnetic wave absorber with using exponentially tapered ferritic is proposed and discussed. A theoretical model using the equivalent material constants method is also proposed to analyze the regions varying sptially in the shape of ferrite. Based on the developed model, wide band electromagnetic wave absorbers with excellent reflectivity frequency charaateristics in the freqency rang eof 30MHz to 2,150MHz or 2,430MHz were designed.

  • A wide band design method of an electromagnetic wave absorber using exponentially tapered ferrite, which has very wide band frequency characteristics, is proposed and discussed. The wide band electroma-gnetic wave absorber can be designed by the proposed equivalent material constants method for the re-gions varying spatially in the shape of ferrite. Futhermore, the wide band ferrite electromagnetic wave absorber with taper, which have not only exce-llent reflectivity frequency characteristics but also the band width of 30MHz to 2150 or 2450MHz under the tolerance limits of -20dB reflectivity, were designed.

  • Microwave absorbers for X-Band RADAR have been designed and fabricated trialy both in sheet and paint types, as a result of which the relative bandwidth of nearly 8% in both cases has been obtained under the tolerance limits of the reflection coefficients lower than -20dB. The matching thickness becomes 1.36 to 1.56mm which is significantly thinner than that of the conventional ones. Furthermore, it was shown that the microwave absorbing characteristics vary in accordance with the density and the mixing ratios of the materials constituting absorbs.

  • 연소 배가스에서 NOx 제거시 분자 분해를 위하여 Microwave Energy를 이용했다. 이는 전자파를 흡수하는 고체물질에 전자파를 조사할 때 내부로 부터 가열이 이루어지는 특성과 전파의 진동에 의한 분자내 쌍극자가 진동하는 현상을 이용하여 분자결합이 깨지는 현상을 응용한 것이다. 전자파흡수체로서 Calcined Char를 사용했으며, 표준가스로는 NO 574 ppm을 2$\ell$/min으로 통과시키면서 2450 MHz의 전자파를 조사했을 경우 95 % 이상 분해 제거가 가능했다. 보다 낮은 농도의 연소배가스에 대해서는 거의 완전한 제거가 가능하므로 대기환경오염방지에 일조할 것으로 기대된다.

Analysis of Radar Cross Section for Advanced Naval Vessels (첨단 함형의 레이더 반사면적 해석)

  • In this paper, Radar cross section (RCS) calculations of advanced naval vessels model with RCS reduction methods are simulated and RCS results are discussed. Especially, this paper are mainly focusing on the facts influencing on RCS, the ways minimizing RCS and material characteristics of RCS changing-rate. RCS analysis results are given for a DDG-1000 type advanced naval vessels, which show that as the elevation angle increased 10 degree, the mean RCS value increased 23.91 dBsm. Also, as the superstructure angle increased 6 degree, the mean RCS value reduced 1.27 dBsm. Finally, the radar absorbing material attachment at the front and back superstructure have been reduced 2.27 dBsm in terms of mean RCS value.
