Development of Underwater Warfare Models on the Naval Weapon Systems (해군무기체계 수중교전 모델 라이브러리 개발)

  • ADD (Agency for Defense Development) has developed the naval warfare simulation environment (QUEST), this paper describes the model library of naval weapon systems for the application of underwater warfare simulation included in the QUEST. Models are basically developed in order to measure the effectiveness and tactical development of underwater engagement between ships and weapons. Analyzing the mission space of underwater engagement and the functionality of the legacy models, we define standards of the model structure and developed the model components. Each components are the well-defined environment, system, subsystem, algorithm models, and the interfaces are defined between them. Users can construct a model in an efficient way to various warfare scenarios using the re-usable model components and co-work with the common model library.

  • Network-Centric Warfare is a forthcoming military revolution paradigm for maximizing combat effectiveness in terms of information superiority. However, quantitative assessment of information effect is a challenging issue. Among the many approaches, war-game is a well known method to evaluate combat effectiveness. However, previous researches and current models have a limited function or logic to simulate information process, which is core concept of NCW. So this research suggests a concept of simulation modeling method to describe the information process as defining of combat information process based on probability decision model. In addition, we suggest a simple scenario to represent proposed concept modelling method. This results can be used in designing war-game analysis model for enhanced information effectiveness.

  • Electronic warfare recently has became the core of modern warfare and the importance of communication survivability is being considerable day by day. In this paper, we propose an effective jamming avoidance algorithm aginst widely used jamming environment such as GPS jamming. In order to simulate to show our system performance, we consider IEEE 802.16 WiMAX protocol and partial band jamming envoriment. Proposed algorithm can improve channel capacity through subchannelization and we show channel capacity corresponding to subchannel parameter.

Interrelation Analysis of UGV Operational Capability and Combat Effectiveness using AnyLogic Simulation (애니로직 시뮬레이션을 이용한 무인지상차량 운용성능과 전투효과의 연관성 분석)

  • In modern warfare, the number of unmanned systems grow faster than any other weapon systems. Therefore, it is very important to predict and measure the combat effectiveness (CE) of unmanned weapon systems in battlefield for deciding defense budget to acquire those systems. In general, quantitative calculation of weapon effectiveness under complicated battlefield is difficult based on the future network centric warfare. Hence, many papers studied how to measure the combat effectiveness and tried to study a lot of related issues about it. However, there are few papers dealing with the relationship between the UGV (Unmanned Ground Vehicle)'s performance and CE in a ground battlefield. In this paper, we do the sensitivity analysis based on a given scenario in a small unit battle. In order to do that, we developed simulation model using AnyLogic and changed the input parameters such as detection and hitting probabilities. We also assess the simulation outputs according to the variation of input parameters. The MOE used in this simulation model output is survival ratio for Blue force. We hope that this paper will be useful to find which input variable is more effective to increase combat effectiveness in a small unit ground battlefield.

Study for Improving military cardiopulmonary resuscitation quality and resuscitation training by combining feedback device and debriefing (피드백 장치와 디브리핑을 통한 군 심폐소생술의 질과 교육훈련 향상 연구)

  • 군의 교육훈련간 디브리핑과 피드백 장치 활용을 통한 심폐소생술 교육방법을 적용하여 보다 효과적인 교육 방법을 확인하고 심폐소생술 수행 전 후 피로도를 검사하여 심폐소생술 술기가 숙달된 인원과 숙달되지 않은 인원의 피로도 차이를 분석함으로써 심폐소생술 교육프로그램의 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 현재 야전에서 응급처치교육을 받은 적이 없는 비 의무병인자로 전투병 생존법 교육 소집 대상자 중 참여 희망자 50명을 대상으로 하였다. 연구방법은 3가지 교육방법(디브리핑, 피드백장치, 디브리핑과 피드백장치 조합) 을 적용한 3개의 그룹에서 1,2,3차의 평가와 전체 디브리핑을 통해 심폐소생술 수행능력의 질적 향상에 미치는 영향과 동일 대상 중 희망자 20명에 한하여 심폐소생술 수행(5분) 전 후 혈중 젖산 농도 측정 및 주관적인 문답(1~10점)을 통해 심폐소생술 수행에 따른 피로도 실험을 진행하였다. 3가지 교육방법에 따른 심폐소생술수행능력 향상은 모든 그룹에서 유의하였으며(p<.001), 그룹별 심폐소생술 수행능력 향상효과의 차이는 디브리핑과 피드백장치를 조합하여 적용한 그룹에서 유의하게 높았다(p<.01). 심폐소생술 수행능력이 숙달되기 전 후의 피로도에 대해서는 본인이 느끼는 피로도는 유의한 차이는 없었으나 혈중 젖산농도에 따른 피로도는 유의한 차이로 전보다 후가 낮아졌다(p<.01).

  • Counter Fire Operations can be characterized as having a system of systems that key features include situational awareness, command and control systems and highly responsive strike achieved by precision weapons. Current modeling methodology cannot provide an appropriate methodology for a system of systems and utilizes modeling and simulation tools to implement analytic options which can be time consuming and expensive. We explain developing methodology and tools for the effectiveness analysis of the counter fire operations under Network Centric Warfare Environment and suggest how to support a efficient decision making with the methodology and tools. Theater Counter Fire Operations tools consist of Enemy block, ISR block, C2 block and Shooter block. For the convenience of using by domain expert or non simulation expert, it is composed of the environments that each parameter and algorithm easily can be altered by user.

  • The development of weapon systems that look only be introduced as a huge budget directly related to combat rea diness. If we develop the expensive equipment it will not be the same state or have to wait a lot of time in mainten ance facilities for maintenance, which will have a profound impact on the exercise Efficiency. In order to solve this problem, the operation and use state of the weapon system requires effort to successfully p erform the duties held by the defined and assigned, Further analysis should be conducted RAM in order to reduce m aintenance manpower and logistic support costs. The role of business is to increase the RAM system reliability by L ee to Fig system failure rate from the development and maintenance, and reduced life cycle costs. Therefore, the present study was to determine the RAM to perform analysis procedures and methods and limita tions of each element, such as to maximize the effectiveness of comprehensive logistics support and help to study to become an effective logistics support.

  • Over the society the trial for several systems to be connected with Network has been continued to share information and to make it various. In accordance with such a change, the concept of military warfare conduction has been changing form platform centric warfare in separate combat system based on network centric warfare in network based. We have continuously made an effort that we try to get the goal with efficient system which is linked up with network, but such a study on that one in military system analysis is still slower than the study out of military until now. So this study is searching network influence factor by using military network with application of social network analysis method which is used broadly in the society and the science as well. At this time we search co-relationships between social network and the thing that we can analyse C2 time by effectiveness measurement means. By this study it has value of network influence factor identification for the growing network composition.

Moderating Effects of Subordinates' Active Engagement between Commanders' Transformational·Transactional Leadership and Job Satisfaction (부하들의 능동적 참여가 지휘관의 변혁적·거래적 리더십과 직무만족 간에 미치는 조절효과)

  • This study is aimed for emprical analyzing (1) the effects of leadership of army commanders on subordinates' job satisfaction and (2) the moderating effects of subordinates' active engagement within the relationship between commanders' transformational transactional leadership and job satisfaction of soldiers, while over 500 combat soldiers throughout the nation are questioned for this analysis. The followings are the summary of findings of this study. The first finding shows that both transformational and transactional leadership have positive impacts on the job satisfaction of the soldiers. In this context, it is recommended that army commanders should apply effectively these behaviors of leadership in order to achieve their goals in military organizations. The second sector of the analysis includes the moderating effect of subordinates' active engagement within the relationship between the commanders' leadership and job satisfaction of the soldiers. The finding of the second analysis shows that subordinates' active engagement has positive moderating effect on the relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction. However, it has no moderating effect on the relationship between transactional leadership and job satisfaction. This implies that army commanders should apply the behavioral factors of both leadership styles and encourage active engagement of soldiers in order to enhance the satisfaction of soldiers, focusing more on applying the behavioral factors of transformational leadership.

Design and Implementation of Interface System for Swarm USVs Simulation Based on Hybrid Mission Planning (하이브리드형 임무계획을 고려한 군집 무인수상정 시뮬레이션 시스템의 연동 인터페이스 설계 및 구현)

  • Defense fields widely operate unmanned systems to lower vulnerability and enhance combat effectiveness. In the navy, swarm unmanned surface vehicles(USVs) form a cluster within communication range, share situational awareness information among the USVs, and cooperate with them to conduct military missions. This paper proposes an interface system, i.e., Interface Adapter System(IAS), to achieve inter-USV and intra-USV interoperability. We focus on the mission planning subsystem(MPS) for interoperability, which is the core subsystem of the USV to decide courses of action such as automatic path generation and weapon assignments. The central role of the proposed system is to exchange interface data between MPSs and other subsystems in real-time. To this end, we analyzed the operational requirements of the MPS and identified interface messages. Then we developed the IAS using the distributed real-time middleware. As experiments, we conducted several integration tests at swarm USVs simulation environment and measured delay time and loss ratio of interface messages. We expect that the proposed IAS successfully provides bridge roles between the mission planning system and other subsystems.
