This study was conducted to measure fat contents of potatochips by near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). Both potatochip powder and potatochips were used to find correlations between the absorbance at certain wavelengths find the fat contents. Based on the correlation analysis, linear regression models predicting the fat contents were developed to predict the fat contents. Artificial neural network (ANN) models were also developed. Predicted values were compared to the measured ones. The regression and the ANN model predicting the fat contents of potatochip powder had determination coefficients of 0.93 and 0.92, and standard errors of prediction (SEP) of 1.29% and 1.17%, respectively. The correlation analysis of potatochips showed that the determination coefficients were low. Therefore, the fat contents of not potatochips but potatochip powder could be measured by NIRS.
This paper intends to decide the optimum OC curves and to find the minimized ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$-risk based upon the Linear Cost Model (L.C.M.) for the destructive or nondestructive acceptance sampling inspection plan. For the solution from the L.C.M., we assume the uniform distribution as a Prior-distribution and use numerical analysis by computer.
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of pulsed-ultrasound intervention and continued-ultrasound on the PPT (pressure pain threshold), CK (creatine kinase) and LDH (lactate dehydrogenase) recovery of before EIMD (exercise-induced muscle damage). Design: Randomized Controlled Trial. Methods: Thirty subjects who are student in their 20s at a university participated in this study, these subjects were assigned into three groups, a control group (n=10), experiment group I (n=10), and experiment group II (n=10). The subjects in experimental group were intervened by pulsed-ultrasound and continued-ultrasound, while ones on control group weren't by any intervention after induced EIMD. Results: First, In the comparison of the PPT, there were significant variations with the lapse the time in three groups (p<.001) and there was a significant interaction of time and group (p<.001). In the among group comparison, the PPT of experimental group II was significantly larger than those of other groups (p<.01). Second, In the comparison of the CK, there were significant variations with the lapse the time in three groups (p<.001) and there was a significant interaction of time and group (p<.001). In the among group comparison, the CK of experimental group II was significantly smaller than those of other groups (p<.001). Third, In the comparison of the LDH, there were significant variations with the lapse the time in three groups (p<.001) and there was a significant interaction of time and group (p<.001). In the among group comparison, the LDH of experimental group II was significantly smaller than those of other groups (p<.001). Conclusion: The above results revealed that the continued-ultrasound intervention before an exercise had a positive effect of muscle function after EIMD. Therefore we can consider the continued ultrasound as a considerable intervention method to prevent or reduce an exercise injury.
The contents of free amino acids in deembryod brown rice of two varieties were investigated by amino acid autoanalizer in relation to specific gravity grade. The analytical methods of free amino acid were also discussed. 1) The lower the specific gravity of the unhulled rice the higher the content of total free amino acids in the deembryod brown rice, and the similar trend appears to hold on each amino acids. 2) Main free amino acids were serine+asparagine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, alanine and valine, and maximum values of them were 7.3, 5.1, 4.0, 3.4, 0.9mg/100g rice, respectively. They consist about 85% of total free amino acids in most cases. 3) The contents of soluble nitrogen and free amino acids appear to be lower in high protein variety (IR 667) than in low protein variety (Jinhung). The percentage of free amino acid nitrogen to soluble nitrogen, however, appears to be higher in high protein variety (IR 667). 4) Alanine was much lower than aspartic acid in IR 667 having Indica blood while alanine appears to be higher than aspartic acid in Jinhung (Japonica rice) suggesting varietal difference in amino acid metabolism. 5) Threonine peak was overlaped with glutamine, and serine was with asparagine in this study.
UV-ray air cleaner consisted of 6 watt UV lamp and fan was developed to sanitize air of refrigerator. Light intensity of the lamp showed 5 times of D value of Bacillus subtilis and air velocity around the lamp in holding section was 0.7 m/s, giving 0.33s of the resident time. The performance of air cleaner was tested with bacterial contaminator sprayed with suspension of Bacillus subtilis and hey powder. The device effectively decreased 80% of the population of airborn spore after 100 min operation at room temperature.

This paper describes the analysis of the UHF signal characteristics due to the partial discharge sources which can exist in a GIS. For the experiment, a model GIS was made and 5 types of discharge source were created as follows; corona discharge, surface discharge, void discharge, discharge due to free particle, discharge from floating electrode. The frequency spectra and the phase characteristics of UHF signals were induced by UHF signal analysis. The results were quantified to systematically adapt to analyze the PD sources in the GIS and utilized as algorithm data based on the neural network for Back-Propagation Algorithm with a multi-layer structure. The perception rate of the constructed algorithm showed approximately 94[%] and 82[%] in learning and testing data, respectively.
The purpose of this survey was to investigate the exercise injuries and its care methods of members in amateur tennis clubs. 176 questionnaires were surveyed from tennis players who were exercising at 6 tennis club ranges in J city, Korea. The interesting variables were parts, time slots, causes, treatments of injuries, which were analyzed based on the general and exercise characteristics of surveyees, a gender, an age, an exercise career, an exercise time, an occupation, an average earning. The results of this study were as follows: 1) In the results of analyses for the injury parts, the upper bodies injuries were more than lower body ones, the injury of back and lumbus had the highest rate among upper body injuries. In twenties, the number of injury had highest rate. 2) The main cause of injury was the carelessness of one's own. The most injury by the carelessness of one's own was a reason for a lack of warm-up. 3) The first emergency manager for the injury was mostly oneself.
The activities of peroxidase and polyphenoloxidase were investigated in the rice leaves(the upper halves) diseased with Akagare or Helminthosporium oryzae. The activity of polyphenoloxidase was slightly lower than that of peroxidase in the healthy leaves but it increased 56% in the diseased leaves while peroxidase decreased 35%. It was expected that polyphenoloxidase is dominant in the oxidation of polyphenols, and hydrogen peroxide may accumulate to harmful level due to the decrease of peroxidase activity resulting in non-enzymatic oxidation of polyphenols in the diseased leaves.
A bubble counter was designed and fabricated for the measurement of gas production rate on the basis of number of bubbles produced from yeast fermentor. The sensor was consisted of bubble forming device and electronic signal processing circuitry. The bubble forming device was built with bubble collector and liquid cell to form uniform size of bubble. Bubbles were counted by pulses formed by photo-interrupter circuitry having 8-bit binary latch counter. The gas production rate curves on the basis of bubble counted showed a good agreement to that of growth curves obtained by the optical measurement method. The sensor was succesfully applied to monitoring of the nutrient utilization test with glucose and galactose media.
