Design and Fabrication of a Surge Impedance Meter (서지임피던스 측정기의 설계 및 제작)

  • Ground systems flow fault currents into the ground, and suppress Ground Potential Rise (GPR) by the current. In this paper, we designed and fabricated a surge impedance meter to analyze the ground impedance in wide frequency ranges. The meter consists of a surge generator, a high speed sample/hold (S/H) circuit and an associated electronics. The surge generator produces surge voltage up to 5kV in ranges of $50\sim500ns$. Field tests were carried out to evaluate the surge impedance meter at a driven-rod ground system. The results showed that surge impedance of ground systems should be measured by various fast surge waveforms, since the impedance increases as the rise time of applied voltage increases.

Sintering and Electrical Properties of Mn-doped ZnO-CaO Varistor (Mn 첨가에 따른 ZnO-CaO 바리스터의 소결 및 전기적 특성)

  • ZnO 바리스터는 정전기 (ESD) 및 순간적인 써지(surge)로부터 전자기기 및 전자회로 등을 보호하기 위해 개발된 전자 세라믹스 소재이다. 최근 전자기기 등의 고속통신 추세에 따라 ZnO 바리스터는 높은 비선형 특성과 함께 보다 낮은 유전율 및 유전손실 특성이 특별히 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 양산되고 있는 Bi-계와 Pr-계 ZnO 바리스터가 아닌 새로운 조성계에 $Mn_3O_4$를 0.0~3.0 at% 첨가하여 소결 및 전기적 특성들 살펴보았다. 시편은 일반적인 세라믹 공정에 따라 제조하여 $1200^{\circ}C$에서 1 시간 공기 중에서 소결하였으며, 소결 및 전기적 특성과 유전 특성(밀도, 미세구조, I-V 특성, 유전율, 유전손실, ZnO 비저항)은 FE-SEM, Keithley237, Agilent 4294a 및 Agilent 4991a 장비를 사용하여 첨가제에 따른 ZnO 바리스터의 특성 변화를 관찰하였다. 그 결과 Mn이 0.2 at% 첨가한 계의 바리스터의 상대밀도는 95%, 비선형계수는 14, 유전율은 140 (at 1MHz), 손실값은 0.147 (at 1 MHz)를 나타내었다. 이를 통하여 새로운 바리스터 조성계에서 Mn의 첨가에 따른 효과에 대하여 논하였다.

  • The high flowability performance evaluation device for the concrete is the device which was designed to compensate from the incorrect data detection of the viscosimetry examination of the existing concrete. As for the existing concrete viscosimetry method, the measuring data for a viscosity are very irregular by the point of view of an experimenter and a supervisor, Therefore there were some problems to have many different opinions by a small numerical value difference according to the job characteristic. In this paper, we suggested some mechanism to compensate the problem and some driving electronics including the related algorithm, and the communication structure with wireless sensor network between the devices and users are also presented. The effectiveness of the suggested method was verified with a real experiment.

The Susceptibility of LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) Due To Front-Door Coupling Under Narrow-Band High Power Electromagnetic Wave (안테나에 커플링되는 협대역 고출력 전자기파에 대한 저잡음 증폭기의 민감성 분석)

  • This study has examined susceptibility of LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) due to Front-Door Coupling under Narrow-Band high power electromagnetic wave. M/DFR(Malfunction/Destruction Failure Rate) was measured to investigate the diagnostic of IC test. In addition, decapsulation analysis was used to understand the inside of the chip state in LNA devices. The experiments is employed as an open-ended waveguide to study the destruction effects of LNA using a 2.45 GHz Magnetron as a high power electromagnetic wave. The susceptibility level of LNA was assessed by electric field strength, and its failure modes were observed. The malfunction of LNA device has showed as the type of self-reset and power-reset. The electric field strength of malfunction threshold is 524 V/m and 1150 V/m respectively. Also, he electric field of destruction threshold is 1530 V/m. Three types of damaged LNA were observed by decapsulation analysis: component, onchipwire, and bondwire destruction. Based on these results, the susceptibility of the LNA can be applied to a database to help elucidate the effects of microwaves on electronic equipment.

Development of New ECT Probe Separating the Permebility Variation Signal in the SG Tube (증기발생기 전열관의 투자율 변화신호 분리를 위한 신형 탐촉자 개발)

  • A new ECT probe to separate the ECT signal distortion due to PVC (permeability variation clusters) and ordinary defects created in SG tubes has been developed. The hystersis loops of PVC which are extracted from retired SG (steam generator) tubes of Kori-1 NNP were measured. The tensile tests were performed to identify the mechanism of PVC creation. The conditions detecting the PVC created in 56 tubes were investigated using computer simulation, and the signal processing circuits were inserted in the probe for the digital signal transmission. The new Probe can measure and separate the PVC signal which is created in the SG tubes, and also measures the defects in Ni-sleeving part of SG tubes. furthermore the new ECT probe can measure the defects as fast as bobbin probe, and enhance the testing speed as well as reliability of the defect detection of SG tubes.

  • When zenor diode load current is necessary to be controlled by input voltage as a circuit load, existing voltage controlling method cannot be applied to it because the output current of zenor diode is changed due to breakdown voltage variations. We propose input voltage controlled output current source regardless of zenor breakdown voltage variation due to degradation resulted from severe current applied electronic component life test as a circuit load in this paper. We show breakdown voltage characteristics of this zenor diode circuit through simulation, applying adequate values for each component in order to verify the circuit composed of that method, and then show the result in which output current is controlled by input voltage. We confirmed the output current varies proportional to input voltage, and developed circuit shows a constant value independent of zenor diode breakdown voltage variations due to component degradations.

  • 본 연구는 비전도성 폴리머 표면을 개질하여 감광성 금속을 유전체 표면에 흡착시키고, 감광성 금속의 광화학 반응을 이용하여 귀금속 촉매를 비전도성 폴리머 표면에 선택적으로 흡착시켜 무전해 Cu 도금을 수행하여 금속패턴을 형성하였다. 기능성 유연 필름은 일반적으로 투명한 플라스틱 고분자 기판을 기반으로 전기 전자, 에너지, 자동차, 포장, 의료 등 다양한 분야에서 폭넓게 활용 되고 있으며, 본 연구에서는 습식 도금 공정을 이용하여 폴리이미드 필름상에 $10{\mu}m$ 이하의 미세패턴을 형성하기 위한 공정을 개발하고자 하였다. 비전도성 폴리머 표면에 무전해 도금을 위해서 우선 폴리머 필름의 표면을 개질하는 공정이 필요하다. 이에 KOH 또는 NaOH 알카리 용액을 이용하여 표면을 개질하였으며 개질된 표면에 감광성 금속이온의 흡착시키기 위한 감광성 금속이온은 주석을 사용하였으며, 주석 용액의 안정성 및 퍼짐성 향상을 위해 감광성 금속 용액의 제조 및 특성을 관찰하였으며, 감광성 금속화합물이 흡착된 비전도성 유전체 표면을 포토마스크를 이용하여 특정 부위, 즉 표면에 금속패턴 층을 형성하고자 하는 곳은 포토마스크를 이용하여 광원을 차단하고 그 외 부분은 주 파장이 365nm와 405nm 광원을 조사하여 선택적으로 감광성 금속화합물의 산화반응을 유도하는 광조사 공정을 수행하였다. 광원이 조사되지 않은 부분에 귀금속 등의 촉매 입자를 치환 흡착시켜 금속 패턴이 형성될 수 있는 표면을 형성하였다. 위의 활성화 공정이후에 활성화 처리된 표면을 세척하는 수세 공정을 거친 후 무전해 도금공정에 바로 적용할 경우 미세한 귀금속 입자가 패턴이 아닌 부분 즉 자외선(UV) 조사된 부분에도 남아있어 도금시 번짐 현상이 발생한다. 이에 본 연구에서는 활성화 처리 후 약 알칼리 용액에 카르복실산을 혼합하여 잔존하는 귀금속 입자를 제거한 후 무전해 Cu 도금액을 이용하여 $10{\mu}m$ 이하의 Cu 금속 패턴을 형성하였다.

Development of Small-sized SQUID and Direct-coupled Electronics for High-$T_c$ Scanning SQUID Microscope (소형 SQUID, 직접 되먹임 방식 전자회로, 고온초전도 SQUID 주사현미경의 개량)

  • The spatial resolution of $high-T_{c}$ scanning SQUID microscope is limited by the washer size of SQUID and the gap distance between SQUID sensor and the sample. In this work, we tried to improve the spatial resolution of scanning SQUID microscope by reducing the size of SQUID sensor fabricated with $YBa_2$$Cu_3$$O_{7}$ thin film. Outer dimensions of the SQUiDs we tested are 24 $\mu\textrm{m}$ $\times$ $ 28\mu\textrm{m}$, $12 \mu\textrm{m}$ $\times$ $16\mu\textrm{m}$, $12\mu\textrm{m}$ x $12\mu\textrm{m}$, $10 \mu\textrm{m}$ $\times$ $10 \mu\textrm{m}$ each. To operate them in the flux-locked loop scheme, we used a direct-coupled electronics instead of using conventional electronics involving a modulation scheme. Since the direct-coupled feedback scheme does not require modulation current adjustment that poses as a practical difficulty in the SQUID operation in modulation-scheme, the direct feedback operation is rather simpler than the conventional modulation method. The resulting noise features were dominated by the noise of preamp in FLL electronics except that of the largest SQUID. The noise levels of SQUIDs are expected below 1$\times$$10^{-5}$ $\Phi_{0}$H $z^{1}$2/ (at 300 Hz), that is a typical noise level for SQUID made of $YBa_2$C $u_3$$O_{7}$ thin film. The data acquisition and motion-controlling parts were also improved, resulting in faster data acquisition rate and less vibration of the system.m.

  • An all-optical 4-bit Gray code to binary coded decimal (BCD) converter by means of commercially available numerical analysis tool (VPI) was demonstrated, for the first time to our knowledge. Circuit design approach was modified appropriately in order to fit the electrical method on an all-optical logic circuit based on a cross gain modulation (XGM) process so that signal degradation due to the non-ideal optical logic gates can be minimized. Without regenerations, Q-factor of around 4 was obtained for the most severely degraded output bit (least significant bit-LSB) with 2.5 Gbps clean input signals having 20 dB extinction ratio. While modifying the two-level simplification method and Karnaugh map method to design a Gray code to BCD converter, a general design concept was also founded (one-level simplification) in this research, not only for the Gray code to BCD converter but also for any general applications.

Photonic Crystal Based Bandpass Filter Design for WDM Communication Systems (WDM 시스템에 적합한 광결정 대역 통과 필터 설계)

  • We have designed photonic crystal based bandpass filters whose characteristics are suitable for WDM communication system. The filters consist of coupled point defect resonators in two-dimensional photonic crystal. The frequency response of coupled resonators has been analyzed by the coupling of modes in time, from which the design parameters for the coupled resonator filters have been extracted. For the appropriate choice of the design parameters, each resonator is treated as a lumped L-C resonance circuit, and from the analogy between the equivalent circuit and the standard L-C filter circuits, the design parameters are simply determined from the table for general filter circuit design. Based on the determined design parameters, a photonic crystal based filter has been designed and its performance has been calculated using the finite-difference time-domain method. The designed filter shows a pass band of 50GHz and 0.5 dB in-band ripple, which is suitable for typical WDM communication systems with 100GHz channel spacing.
