A Study on Resonance Frequencies of a Whispering Gallery Mode Dielectric Resonator Considering Electromagnetic Coupling Phenomena with an Excitation Part (여기부와의 전자파 결합 현상을 고려한 위스퍼링 갤러리 모드 유전체 공진기의 공진주파수에 관한 연구)

  • Resonant characteristic of Whispering modes(W. G. mode) on a dielectric disk resonator is influenced by an external circuit that is placed near the disk to excite this type of modes. In order to evaluate this phenomenon, we divide the disk resonator as two parts; a coupling part in which the mode coupling occurs and on uncoupled region. In the coupled part, we regard the part of the disk as a curved waveguide which is loaded with matched circuit, and derive a coupled mode equation for nonparallel dielectric waveguides. From the coupled mode equation, we calculate coupling coefficients and a coupled electromagnetic field. By using the complex coupling coefficients, we can calculate power transfer. We also calculate a resonant frequency in consideration of the mode coupling phenomenon. The calculated resonance frequence is confirmed by experiment for the resonance characteristics. As the results, it is found that the discrepancy between the theoretical and the experimental resonance frequencies is about 1.28% and the discrepancy between theory and experiment of FSR is about 0.6%.

Compact Tri-Band Bandpass Filter Using Dual-Mode Stepped-Impedance Resonators and Parallel Coupled-Lines (이중 모드 SIR과 평행 결합선로를 이용한 소형 3중-대역 대역통과 필터 설계)

  • This paper proposes a tri-band bandpass filter using dual-mode stepped-impedance resonators (SIRs) with parallel coupled structures. The proposed filter adopts U-shaped SIRs with open stubs and parallel coupled lines (PCLs) that have inter-digital and comb-line shorted ends. Two U-shaped SIRs with open stubs build the first and third passband, and the central PCL resonators build the second passband. Five resonators and coupling structures are theoretically analyzed to derive the scattering parameters of the proposed filter. A novel tri-band bandpass filter is designed and fabricated using the induced scattering parameters. The measured result of the fabricated tri-band bandpass filter shows a good agreement with the simulated one.

  • When a squirrel cage induction motor is loaded, the electromagnetic noise can increase depending on the load current. It is due to the air gap harmonic fluxes from the rotor current induced during loading. This unfavorable noise can be anticipated by calculating the radial force waves in the air gap, vibration mode shapes of them, and stator core natural frequencies of each mode. With the experimental tests with the different rotor slot numbers, the variation of electromagnetic noise is studied between on-loaded and loaded running.

  • The aim of this study was to improve the performance of hybrid energy harvesting block merge the vibrations and the pressure developed in the previous study. The power generation performance of the energy block improved in this manner was measured and compared with the energy performance of the products previously developed. In previous models, the center has placed a piezoelectric, the two sides had arranged a vibration applying electromagnetic inducing type. Improved model was disposed three in a row of three unit modules for one block. We change the design in the following way. That is, a unit module has been placed the upper piezoelectric body, the lower portion were arranged three electron donation. In laboratory conditions, the power generation performance evaluation results of the improved energy block is as follows. Once when the vibration, power generation was determined to 1.066W. When compared with previous studies, and power generation performance is improved up to 235%. When the vibration in a row 5, power generation was determined to 1.830W. When compared with previous studies, the performance is improved to 177%. The purpose of developing a hybrid energy block is intended to produce electricity by the pressure and vibration when a vehicle passes through the energy block installed in the car park the mouth portion. Electricity produced will try to take advantage of for the purpose of operating a guiding beacon and LED signage in the parking lot entrance. Therefore, it is determined that there is a need in the experiment to compare the performance of the power generation in the field.

  • In this paper, design of UWB Antenna which propagate impulse by pulse fidelity and distortion equation was induced and applied. UWB Antenna which has directional characteristic in UWB band should have low radiation loss and impulse radiation distortion. As a result, the paper designed wide band impedance transformer and microstrip slotline transit region structured antenna feeder line. By using the fabricated UWB antenna, the radiation pattern was measured in the radio anechoic chamber. Pulse fidelity of impulse radiation show good results more than 93% within ${\pm}30^{\circ}$ beam width.

  • 전자빔의 운동에너지를 변화시켜 전자기장을 발생시키는 진공튜브 장치는 기본적으로 전자빔 발생부인 전자총을 핵심 구성부로 사용한다. 이러한 전자총을 이용하는 진공튜브로는 핵융합을 위해 플라즈마 가열용의 RF를 발생시키는 자이로트론 튜브와 방사광 가속기에서 전자를 가속시키는데 이용되는 클라이스트론 튜브 등이 있으며, 군사적으로는 레이더를 비롯하여 유도미상일에 들어가는 탐색기, 전투기에서 사용되는 송수신용 마이크로파 발생장치 등의 핵심부품인 진행파관 진공튜브 등이 있다. 이러한 응용분야에서는 기본적으로 고출력의 전자파를 필요로 하기 때문에 반도체를 이용한 장치로는 그 성능을 구현할 수 없다. 따라서 열음극을 사용하는 전자총을 기반으로 한 다양한 형태의 진공튜브 장치가 주로 이용되고 있다. 현재 고출력 마이크로파 진공튜브용 열음극 전자총은 대부분 외국에서 수입하고 있는데 그 이유는 전자총의 핵심 부품인 열음극 캐소드를 국내에서 개발하지 못하였기 때문이다. 하지만 본 연구에서는 텅스텐 기반의 함침형 열음극 캐소드를 국내에서 자체 개발하는데 성공하였다. 전통적으로 미국에서 개발해온 함침형 열음극 캐소드는 텅스텐 소결체에 기공을 학보하고 여기에 Ba을 중심으로 한 알칼리성 물질들을 일정비율로 혼합하여 함침한 것으로 일함수 2.1~2.3 eV 수준의 물성을 갖는다. 이에 따라 방출할 수 있는 전류의 양은 운용 온도 $1000^{\circ}C$ 정도에서 전류밀도로 대략 수 $A/cm^2$ 수준이다. 본 연구에서 개발한 캐소드는 S-type으로 알려진 것으로 BaO : CaO : $Al_2O_3$ = 4 : 1 : 1 비율로 함침되었다. 고진공장치에서 전류측정 결과 $1040^{\circ}C$에서 $10.6A/cm^2$의 전류밀도를 기록하였으며 이에 대하여 Richardson-Dushman equation으로 계산하였을 때, 약 1.9 eV의 일함수를 갖는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이는 현재 많은 응용분야에서 사용하고 있으며 함침형 캐소드에 Os이나 Ir 등의 물질을 코팅하여 일함수를 낮추고 전류밀도를 향상시킨 M-type 캐소드의 결과와 유사한 수준이다.

  • In this paper, we present a frequency weighted model reduction using LMIs for minimizing the H$\infty$ weighted model error compared with the methods of frequency weighted balanced truncation and frequency weighted Hankel norm approximation. The proposed algorithm, its form is equal to the sufficient condition of performance preserving controller approximation, is based on an iterative two-step LMI scheme induced from bound real lemma. So, it can be applied to the problem of the performance preserving controller approximation. The controller reduction is useful in a practical control design and ensures its easy implementation and high reliability The validity of the proposed algorithm is shown through numerical examples. Additionaly, we extend the proposed algorithm to performance preserving controller approximation by applying to the HIMAT(highly maneuverable aircraft technology) system.

  • This paper concerned about a study on the direct pole placement PID self-tuning controller design for DC servo motor control system. The method of a direct pole placement self-tuning PID control for a DC servo motor of Robot manipulator tracks a reference velocity in spite of the parameters uncertainties in nonminimum phase system. In this scheme, the parameters of classical controller are estimated by the recursive least square (RLS)identification algorithm, the pole placement method and diophantine equation. A series of simulation in which minimum phase system and nonminimum phase system are subjected to a pattern of system parameter changes is presented to show some of the features of the proposed control algorithm. The proposed control algorithm which shown are effective for the practical application, and experiments of DC servo motor speed control for Robot manipulator by a microcomputer IBM-PC/AT are performed and the results are well suited.

  • The implanted telemetry system provides the monitoring of species while they move within their cages. Species monitored include mice, rats, rabbits, dogs, pigs, primates, sheep, horses, cattle, and others. A miniature transmitter implanted in each animal measures one or more parameters. Parameters measured include arterial pressure, intra-pleural pressure, left ventricular pressure, intra-ocular pressure, bladder pressure, ECG, EMG, EEG, EOG, temperature, activity, and other parameters and transmits the data via radio frequency signals to a nearby receiver. Every conventional dedicated transmitter contains one or more sensors, cpu and battery. Due to the expected life of battery, the measuring time is limited. To overcome these problems, electromagnetic inductive coupling based wireless power transmission technology using multiple transmit coils were proposed. Each coil having different active area are driven by the coil driver. In this research, parallel resonance based coil driver was proposed. In addition, the device to detect where the receiver is positioned was proposed. From the experiments we show how to determine the driving condition of coil driver.

  • Welding preheating means that the surface of the base material to which the metal is welded before the main welding is heated to a constant temperature. It prevents the cracks of the adjacent influences such as reduction of material hardening degree by controlling the cooling rate, suppression of segregation of impurities, prevention of thermal deformation, and moisture removal. For this reason, it is a necessary operation for high quality welding. Induction heating is an efficient heating method that converts electric energy into heat energy by applying electromagnetic induction phenomenon. Compared with combustion heat generated by gas and liquid, it is clean, stable, and economical as well as rapid heating. It can be heated regardless of the shape, depth and material of the heating body by modifying the shape of the frequency and the coil with a simple structure. In this paper, we implemented a low frequency welding preheating system using induction heating technique and observed the temperature changes of coil resistance, inductance and automotive transmission parts according to the height of each transmission in winding coil for three kinds of automotive transmission parts. We confirmed that the change of current is a very important factor in the low frequency heating.
