Comparison of Multi-Static Sonar Target Positioning Performance (다중상태 소나망 위치 추정 성능 비교)

  • In this paper, we address the target positioning performance of Multi-Static sonar with respect to target positioning method and measurement error. Based on the analysis on two candidate solution approaches, namely, Least Square (LS) using range and angular information simultaneously and Maximum Likelihood (ML) using only range information as the existing information fusion methods for possible application to Multi-Static sonar, we propose to employ ML using range and angular information. Assuming that each sensor can receive range and angular information, we conduct representative comparison experiments over the existing and proposed methods under various measurement noise scenarios. We also investigate the target positioning performance according to number of sensors, distance between transmitter and receiver. According to the experimental results, RMSE of the proposed ML with distance and direction information is found to be more superior to ML using distance alone and to LS in case distance between transmitter and receiver is longer and number of receiver is smaller.

  • This work presents a 14b 200KS/s $0.87mm^2$ 1.2mW 0.18um CMOS algorithmic A/D converter (ADC) for intelligent sensors control systems, battery-powered system applications simultaneously requiring high resolution, low power, and small area. The proposed algorithmic ADC not using a conventional sample-and-hold amplifier employs efficient switched-bias power-reduction techniques in analog circuits, a clock selective sampling-capacitor switching in the multiplying D/A converter, and ultra low-power on-chip current and voltage references to optimize sampling rate, resolution, power consumption, and chip area. The prototype ADC implemented in a 0.18um 1P6M CMOS process shows a measured DNL and INL of maximum 0.98LSB and 15.72LSB, respectively. The ADC demonstrates a maximum SNDR and SFDR of 54dB and 69dB, respectively, and a power consumption of 1.2mW at 200KS/s and 1.8V. The occupied active die area is $0.87mm^2$.

  • There has been so many research activities about robot soccer system in the many research fields, for example, intelligent control, communication, computer technology, sensor technology, image processing, mechatronics. Especially researchers research strategy for attacking in the field of strategy, and develop intelligent strategy. Then, soccer robots cannot defense completely and efficiently by using simple defense strategy. Therefore, intention extraction of attacker is needed for efficient defense. In this thesis, intention extractor of soccer robots is designed and developed based on FMMNN(Fuzzy Min-Max Neural networks ). First, intention for soccer robot system is defined, and intention extraction for soccer robot system is explained.. Next, FMMNN based intention extractor for soccer robot system is determined. FMMNN is one of the pattern classification method and have several advantages: on-line adaptation, short training time, soft decision. Therefore, FMMNN is suitable for soccer robot system having dynamic environment. Observer extracts attack intention of opponents by using this intention exactor, and this intention extractor is also used for analyzing strategy of opponent team. The capability of developed intention extractor is verified by simulation of 3 vs. 3 robot succor simulator. It was confirmed that the rates of intention extraction each experiment increase.

Design and Fabrication of HgI2 Sensor for Phosphor Screen based flat panel X-ray Detector (형광체 스크린 기반 평판형 X선 검출기 적용을 위한 요오드화수은 필름 광도전체 센서 설계 및 제작)

  • In this study, from a new x-ray detector that combines a columnar CsI:Na scintillation layer with a photosensitive mercuric iodide layer was investigated. In this structure, X-rays are converted into visible light on a thick CsI:Na layer, which is then converted to electric charges in a thin $HgI_2$ bottom layer. The thin coplanar mercuric iodide films as a photosensitive converter requiring only a few tens of volts of bias, associated with a thick columnar coating of phosphor layer, were simulated and designed. The results of this research suggest that the new coplanar x-ray detector with a hybrid-type structure can resolve the following problems: high voltage from the a-Se, and low conversion efficiency from the indirect conversion method. The results of this research suggest that the new CsI:Na/$HgI_2$ x-ray detector with a double-layer type structure can resolve the following problems: high voltage from the direct conversion method, and low conversion efficiency from the indirect conversion method.

Analysis of power requirement of the underground crop harvester attached on agricultural tractor during traction operation (트랙터 부착형 땅속작물 수확기의 견인 작업시 소요동력 분석)

  • In Korea, the mechanization ratio of field farming is about 58.3%. Especially, mechanization ratio of harvest operation is 10% or less. So, it is required to improve the mechanization ratio of harvest operation to analyze the power requirement analysis of agricultural tractor. The purpose of this study is to analyze power requirement of the underground crop harvester attached on agricultural tractor for traction operation. First, a power measurement system was developed and installed in 45 kW agricultural tractor. Second, field experiments were conducted at two driving speed levels (1.41, 2.17 km/h), and axle torque and rotation speed were analyzed. At 1.41km/h driving speed, the average power requirement of driving axle is 3.13 kW, respectively, at 2.17km/h driving speed, the average power requirement of driving axle is each 4.20 kW. In addition, the field tests show that as the driving speed increases by 53%, the power requirement of the underground crop harvester attached on agricultural tractor increases by 34%. Therefore, it indicated that the power requirement of agricultural tractor was affected by the driving speed.

  • 표면 및 계면층의 결정구조, 결함구조, 불순물 편석, 표면의 전자 구조, 원자 진동 등과 같은 산화물의 표면물성은 촉매, 센서, 소결, 마찰, 부식 등과 같은 분야에서 그 특성을 좌우한다. 고체 표면의 결정구조 해석 수단으로 저에너지 이온산란 분광법이 유용한 도구로 알려져 있는데, 이 방법의 뛰어난 표면민감성은 표면에서의 효과적인 이온 중성화 과정에 기인한다. $He^+$, $Ne^+$, $Ar^+$ 등과 같은 이온은 Auger 중성화 과정에 의하여 쉽게 중성원자화 되고, 중성화 확율의 타겟에 대한 의존성이 낮기 때문에 이온빔으로서 종종 사용된다. 산란각도를 180$^{\circ}$로 고정하여 산란이온 검출기를 설치한 직충돌 이온산란 분광법의 경우는 산란된 이온의 궤적이 입사궤도와 거의 동일하기 때문에 산란궤적의 계산이 간단해지고, 수 층 깊이의 원자구조의 해석이 가능해진다. 본 고에서는 고체 표면의 원자구조를 실공간에서 해석할 수 있는 직충돌 이온산란 분광법에 대하여 측정의 기본원리, 측정장치, 간단한 분석 예 등에 관하여 기술하고자 하며, 다음 편에서는 복잡한 표면구조를 가지는 반도체 표면에서 직충돌 이온산란분광법의 이용하여 해석한 예를 중심으로 기술하고자 한다.

A Study of a Dual-Electromagnetic Sensor for Automatic Weld Seam Tracking (용접선 자동추적을 위한 이중 전자기센서의 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The weld seam tracking system for arc welding process uses various kinds of sensors such as arc sensor, vision sensor, laser displacement and so on. Among the variety of sensors available, electro-magnetic sensor is one of the most useful methods especially in sheet metal butt-joint arc welding, primarily because it is hardly affected by the intense arc light and fume generated during the welding process, and also by the surface condition of weldments. In this study, a dual-electromagnetic sensor, which utilizes the induced current variation in the sensing coil due to the eddy current variation of the metal near the sensor, was developed for arc welding of sheet metal butt-joints. The dual-electromagnetic sensor thus detects the offset displacement of weld line from the center of sensor head even though there's no clearance in the joint. A set of design variables of the sensor were determined for the maximum sensing capability through the repeated experiments. Seam tracking is performed by correcting the position of sensor to the amount of offset displacement every sampling period. From the experimental results, the developed sensor showed the excellent capability of weld seam detection when the sensor to workpiece distance is near less than 5 mm, and it was revealed that the system has excellent seam tracking ability for the butt-joint of sheet metal.

Study on Elimination of EMI in ELF-Band for EPS-Based Smart TV Control (전위계차센서 기반 스마트TV 제어를 위한 극저주파 전자기간섭 제거 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose the method to eliminate EMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) in ELF (Extremely Low Frequency) band below 2 KHz for extending the gesture-recognition distance of smart TVs to more than 3m using electric potential sensor. First, we measure the electric field generated from the back panel of a TV and propose the effective arrangement of two sets of differential sensors as well as the shielding method using metal fiber. Also, we eliminate the PLN (Power Line Noise) and other noise generated from the TV and sensors as well as surrounding environments using filters. Using the proposed EMI eliminating methods, we evaluate displacement ratio on measured signals according to distance between sensors and a moving hand. Experiment results show that our proposed method can extend the hand-gesture sensing distance using EPS (Electric Potential Sensor) up to more than 3m, which is enough to satisfy applicability of EPS based remote control to Smart TVs.

  • SAR 시스템은 능동적 센서로 마이크로파라 불리우는 전자기파를 직접 지상에 보내고 돌아오는 신호의 위상과 진폭을 이용하여 영상으로 나타내는 간섭성 시스템이다. 이러한 영상의 특성으로 인해 날씨나 태양의 유 무에 상관없이 영상을 취득할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 또한, 최근에는 기존의 다중분광 위성영상과의 SAR 영상의 Data Fusion을 통해 지상의 새로운 정성적 정보를 취득하려는 시도 등 나날이 그 활용성이 증대되고 있는 상황이다. 그러나 SAR 영상의 광범위한 활용을 위해서는 먼저 영상의 지형보정이 선행되어야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 SAR 영상의 활용을 위해서 선행되어야 할 지형보정의 알고리즘을 컴포넌트 기반의 프로그램으로 구현하고 대상연구지역에 대한 적용을 통해 그 활용성과 가능성을 보여주고자 한다. 연구대상지역은 ERS-1, ERS-2 SAR로 촬영된 대전광역시와 그 주변지역으로 해당 SAR 영상에 대하여 엄밀지형보정 알고리즘과 경사거리 영상을 지상거리 영상으로 변환하는 알고리즘을 개발하여 적용하였다. 실험결과 공칭해상도 30m의 ERS 영상에 대하여 39.7m(X방향으로 24.5m, Y방향으로 31.3m)의 수평오차를 나타내었으며 경사거리 영상의 지상거리 영상으로의 변환도 원활하게 수행됨을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 본 연구를 통해 연구된 모든 알고리즘은 컴포넌트 기반으로 설계하고 구현되어 향후 국내 SAR 처리기술 개발에 있어서 공유할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • Dual electromagnetic sensor is used for sensing the weld line. The sensor consists of excitation and two sensing coil wound over the ferro-magnetic core. By using the dual sensor, the effect of noise is minimized. It is based on the generation of eddy currents in the welding plate by passing current through the excitation coil. The sensor can be used to track the butt joints having no gap between them, where a vision based sensor fails to track. Sensor sensitivity depends on the number of coil turns, frequency of excitation, distance of a sensor from the work piece, diameter of core, etc. The whole system consists of a sensor, a signal processing board, a motion controller and a personnel computer (PC). The raw sensor signal is processed using the signal processing board. It consists of amplification, rectification, filtering, averaging, offset adjustment, etc. Based on sensor data, the motion controller adjusts the position of a welding torch.
