This study describes the optimum structure and deployment of an abalone reef for marine ranching creation in Jeonnam archipelago of Korea. The structure of an abalone reef was analyzed based upon the functions of both feeding and shelter. Deployments of abalone reefs were considered based upon the stability against waves in water depth shallower than 5 m. Also, the calculation of their stabilities was made to only rocks of abalone modules, and exposure coefficient of rocks used was 1.0 and 0.5. The results show that rocks of both 0.2 and 0.5 ton are unstable under the condition that exposure coefficient is 1.0 at a depth of 5 m, but that they are stable under the condition that exposure coefficient is 0.5. It means that, if the structures(e.g. breakwater blocks) for dissipating the energy of waves and currents are provided, small rocks of 0.2 ton can be used as an abalone reef.

Three commercial exfoliating reagents, product A (main components: citric acid and vitamin C), B (herb) and C (nicotinamide), were used to study their exfoliation effect on abalone, Haliotis discus hannai from the substrate. The exfoliating reagents A, B, C and oxytetracycline (OTC, control) of 6-31.25 g/L and 12-37.5 g/L exfoliated 81.2-84.8% and 90.3-95% of abalone, respectively. Post-treatment recovery time for the abalone was similar for all the reagents except product C. Recovery period for the abalone immersed in OTC for 5-20 second was slightly shorter than the reagents A, B and C; however, no mortality was observed in any group except with the reagents B (concentration: 20 g/L, immersion time: 5 sec) and C (12 g/L, 10 and 20 sec) that showed negligible mortality of 3.3%. Higher concentration and longer treatment with the reagents resulted in longer recovery time of the detached abalone. Although abalone exposed to the reagents needs slightly longer time to recover than that to OTC, the exfoliation effect is much similar. These results indicate that the commercial exfoliating reagents can replace OTC to detach abalone, though they need to be cautiously handled.

Twenty nine edible plants were selected in order to study their exfoliation effect on abalone Haliotis discus hannai from its substrate. Exfoliation was observed in spearmint Mentha spicata, lemon balm Melissa officinalis, rose flower, onion Allium cepa, wasabi powder, mustard powder, omija Schizandra Chinensis, and hibiscus Hibiscus sabdariffa solutions. In particular, both the omija and hibiscus solutions exfoliated over 90% of the abalone. In field tests, 3% and 4% omija solutions exfoliated 93.6% (850/908) and 97.1% (810/834) of abalone, respectively, whereas 3% and 4% hibiscus solutions exfoliated 96.1% (780/812) and 97.4% (700/719), respectively. The detached abalone were recovered within 1 min 39 seconds. These results indicate that the omija and hibiscus solutions (3% and 4%) may be useful in the exfoliation of abalone.

It is reported that abalone, Haliotis discus hannai, was detached from shelters by commercial oxytetracycline (OTC) dissolved in hydrochloric acid (HCl). In the present study, we investigated the exfoliation effect of fouling abalone by organic acids instead of OTC or HCl. Organic acids (malic acid, citric acid, lactic acid and formic acid) of pH 2.6 and pH 2.1-2.3 exfoliated over 67.6% and 91.7% of abalone, respectively; while OTC of pH 2.6 and pH 2.1-2.3 exfoliated 25.9% and over 74.1% of abalone, respectively. These results indicate that the exfoliation effect of organic acid is better than that of OTC dissolved in HCl at the same pH. However, a lower pH and longer treatment of organic acids resulted in delayed recovery of the detached abalone; abalone immersed in pH 2.3 for 10 second was recovered within 5 min, but took 12 min to recover after 30 second immersion. Moreover, recovery period for abalone exposed to pH 2.1 for 30 second was at least 15 min 45 second. In conclusion, though acids need to be cautiously handled, organic acids may be a better candidate to detach abalone instead of OTC or HCl.

In this study, the changes of displacement and stress are investigated by structural analysis according to the thickness of car body in case of overturn. In case of 5 mm thickness, the maximum displacement of 7.5024 mm at its right ceiling and the maximum equivalent stress of 113.69 MPa at the left lower part are occurred on the elapsed time of 2 second. In case of 10 mm thickness, the maximum displacement of 1.2557 mm at its right ceiling and the maximum equivalent stress of 15.134 MPa at the left lower part are occurred on the elapsed time of 2 second. In case of 15 mm thickness, the maximum displacement of 0.426067 mm at its right ceiling and the maximum equivalent stress of 4.4842 MPa at the left lower part are occurred on the elapsed time of 2 second. As stress and displacement are uniformly distributed according to time in this case, the design of car body can be stabilized.

The aim of this study is to examine how heroic characters with supernatural powers are portrayed, and what shortcomings and desires are present in the societies they are born into, with reference to television series with superheroes such as , , and out of many motifs of Korean television fantasy series. The common feature of the superheroes represented in these three dramas is that they are viewed as monsters symbolizing vigilance and alienation instead of being regarded as typical heroes that are the object of praise and admiration. All three dramas criticize the corruption and limitations of bureaucratic powers such as the judiciary, prosecution, and police. The protagonists showcase their heroics by correcting such problems and helping the weak and the victimized by using their supernatural powers. At the same time, they broach uncomfortable topics, highlight truths that some may wish to hide, and also argue the concept of 'normality' and the 'world of naturalness'. For this reason, they are treated as monsters and alienated. Despite being called upon to solve the problems in reality, the deficiencies and contradictions of our society are also revealed by them. The idea of expressing the repressed desires in reality, is similar to the attributes of fantasy in that it criticizes and overthrows reality in order to meet the desires. This study verified not only the subversive characters of fantasy, but also the limitations when such attributes were combined with the characteristics of the medium of television shows. The significance of this study is to give attention to a genre that had previously been neglected by Korean productions but is now gaining traction, and also to suggest many tasks for researching more subdivided and diversified fantasy dramas in the future.
