A Study on the Power Amplifier Development using Traveling wave combiner in X-band (Traveling wave 전력 결합기를 이용한 X-대역 전력증폭기 개발에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we have implemented a PAM(Power Amplifier Module) with 25W output power using by cooperate divider/Combiner circuit in X-band to minimize combine loss on a Al2O3 substrate. The PAM(Power Amplifier Module) is consisted of MMIC and 10way traveling wave divider/Combiner with proposed structure what have showed that 45.2dBm output power, 16dB gain, PAE 26 % and 17dBc@44dBm IMD3 characteristics. This combine/divider structure can be used when multistage passive divider and combiner needs. especially, power amplifier with very compact size.

  • 본 논문에서는 무선 전력 송신용 2400MHz 전력증폭기 설계에 대하여 기술한다. 비선형 설계 방법을 이용하여 먼저 1단 전력증폭기 모듈을 설계하였고, 이에 대한 측정을 통하여 전기적 특성을 확보한 후에 선형성에 대한 고려의 결과로써 3개의 모듈을 직렬 연결하여 3단 전력증폭기를 구성하였다. 제작된 전력증폭기는 선형적 동작 구간에서 25dB 이상의 높은 이득과 1Watt 근처의 출력특성을 보였는데, 30dBm의 출력전력에서 23%의 효율 특성을 나타내었다.

  • 본 논문은 질화갈륨 전력 소자를 이용한 이동통신 중계기 및 기지국용 전력증폭기 모듈의 설계에 대하여 기술하고 있다. 전력 버짓 분석을 통하여 전치증폭기와 구동증폭기, 그리고 최종단 고출력증폭기의 전력 용량을 계산하였고, 여기에 적합한 질화갈륨 소자를 선택하였다. 최종 개발에 앞선 초기버젼의 전력증폭기를 구성하여 1-tone과 2-tone에 대하여 전력특성을 측정해 보았다.

The implementation of Gate Control Hybrid Doherty Amplifier (효율개선을 위한 Gate 제어 Hybrid Doherty 증폭기 구현)

  • In this paper, design and implement 60W Doherty power amplifiers for 3GPP repeater and base station transceiver system. Efficiency improvement and high power property of Doherty power amplifier is distinguishable; however implementation of assistance amplifer is difficult, though. To solve the problem, therefore, GCHD (Gate Control Hybrid Doherty) power amplifier is embodied to gate bias adjusament circuit of assistance amplifier to General Doherty power amplifier. Experiment result shows that $2.11\~2.17GHz$, 3GPP operating frequency band, with 62.55 dB gain, PEP output is 50,76 dBm, W-CDMA average power is 47.81 dBm, and -40.05 dBc ACLR characteristic in 5MHz offset frequency band. Each of the parameter satisfied amplifier specification which we want to design. Especially, GCHD power amplifier shows proper efficiency performance improvement in uniformity ACLR than general power amplifier.

  • To be used in a transmitter of a satellite transponder of this paper, X band 25W power amplifier module, a part constituting of high-power amplifier is transmitted to the equipment for transmitting to geostationary communications satellites(36,000Km distance). PAM consisted a total of four power amplifier module has a high output characteristic of the high-output amplifier is used in the ground station. Used in conjunction with the structured type power amplifier module is composed of Serial Combining Structure. This PAM(Power Amplifier Module) configured by combining the circuit with the power amplifier, 10 MMIC chips and the Al2O3 thin film substrate using a Hybrid Technique of power amplifier module, was implemented at X band PAM(Power Amplifier Module) of 25W grade.

High Power Amplifier using Radial Power Combiner (레디알 전력 결합기를 이용한 고출력 증폭기)

  • This paper describes a high power amplifier combining eight low power amplifiers using a radial power combiner with low insertion loss. The radial power combiner is a non-resonant type combiner with 8 input ports and is implemented by microstrip transmission line. The combiner characteristics designed at operating frequency of 1.045 GHz have an insertion loss of 0.7 dB and a return loss of more than 12 dB. Also, the low power amplifier used was designed with AFT27S010NT1 transistor and designed to satisfy the same gain, phase and constant output characteristic at operating frequency. The high power amplifier, which combiners the radial power combiner and the drive amplifier of 8 W output by driving low power amplifiers obtained the output characteristic of 33 W at operating frequency of 1.045 GHz. Also, the change of the output characteristic of the amplifier using the radial combiner was graceful degradation when the low power amplifier failed one by one.

  • A power amplifier is one of important factors for basestation's efficiency and the researches for efficency enhancement focus Doherty amplifier structure with GaN power devices in these days. A memory effect of Doherty amplifier affect operation characteristics for linearity and efficiency. This paper reports on electrothermal nonlinearity modeling and compensation for GaN Doherty amplifier's distortion. Also this paper reports on the dynamic expression of the instantaneous junction temperature as a function of the instantaneous dissipated power. We design distortion model for GaN Doherty amplifier and predistortion compensator for electrothermal memory effect from the proposed behavior model parameters. The simulations was evaluated by ADS Tools and GaN Doherty amplifier with 37dBm. The GaN Doherty amplifier with compensator enhanced about 16dB than without electrothemal memory effect compensator in 2-tone output spectrum.

  • In this paper, we propose an inverted type asymmetric Doherty amplifier with optimized efficiency characteristic in wanted output power back-off (OPBO) range according to peak to average power ratio of input signal In order to obtain optimized efficiency of the asymmetric Doherty amplifier in wanted OPBO, peak power ratio between main amplifier and peaking amplifier was determined and then impedance of 90 degrees impedance transformer was obtained by peak power ratio. The offset line length and peak dividing ratio of the asymmetric Doherty amplifier were also calculated. From the measurement results, the proposed amplifier has achieved 40 % drain efficiency and -35 dBc adjacent channel leakage ratio at the average output power of 48.7 dBm for CDMA 2000 1x 3-FA test signal.

  • 본 논문에서는 IMT-2000 대역에서 전방급전 전력증폭기의 선형성을 개선하여 효율과 대역폭을 극대화 하기 위해 Photonic Bandgap(PBG), 전치왜곡, 2차고조파 튜닝 방식으 f동시에 주 증폭기에 적용하였다. 2차 하모닉 성분이 2차고조파 튜닝 방식에 의해 우수하게 제거되고, 3차 하모닉 성분이 전치왜곡 방식에 의해 제거되며 출력단위 PBG느 s고아대역 특성으로 4차 하모닉 이상까지 제거하는 우수한 특성을 보여주었다. 총체적으로 기존의 전방급전 전력증폭기보다 IMD가 최고 15dBc, 효율은 4%, 대역폭은 2배이상 확대됨으로 전력효율과 대역폭을 극대화시킬 수 있었다.

  • 전력 증폭기 모듈 패키지 산업은 전방산업의 경기에 매우 큰 영향을 받고 종속성이 높은 산업이므로 수요처인 중계기, 기지국, 무선네트워크 구축 장비 업체의 수급 동향, 기술변화, 경영환경변화, 판매실적 등에 민감하게 반응하는 수요구조로 되어 있다. SWOT 분석결과 전력 증폭기 모듈설계 노하우와 하이브리드 전력 증폭기를 개발할 수 있는 강점과 군수용으로 응용 분야 확대 및 5G 상용화의 기회를 활용하여 사업 기회를 선점하는 사업전략 수립이 필요하다. 산업구조 분석결과 구매자의 교섭력이 높으므로 전방산업에 배치된 수요기업과의 전략적이고 긴밀한 협력관계를 유지하기 위한 전략을 추진해야 한다.
