  • The composite structures of steel and reinforced concrete, which have been widely used in large-scale concrete structures, werestudied to investigate the cause of unexpected cracks and to verify the composite actions between the two materials. Vertical stiffeners between flanges, studs and dowel bars, stirrups, and concrete strength were chosen as experimental variables in afour-point loading test. The results showed that the vertical stiffener prevented not only the local web buckling, but also bond failures between steel and concrete. It increased the flexural resistance (fracture loads) due to the composite action of two materials, compared withthose of any experimental variable. However, the composite behavior of steel reinforced concrete beam was not affected seriously by additional studs, dowel bars, stirrups, and concrete strength.

  • Concrete shear wall with opening is modeled as a rectangular thin plate. The stability analysis results are presented by the buckling coefficient, k, for two different boundary conditions. The other parameters whose variation have been considered are the ratio of the bending induced force to gravity force, a, the ratio of the horizontal shear force to the gravity force ratio, A and the change of location and the size of perforated part. To obtain the results by finite element method, an example plate has been divided into 27*9 square elements. Four node rectangular c.deg. continuous finite elements having three degrees of freedom per each node is adopted. It is generally concluded that the buckling coefficients decrease as the size of hole increases, and the location of hole moves to free edge of the wall.

  • A simple steel-concrete composite deck is developed for preventing the lateral torsional buckling of girders that are under construction and for reducing the term of works using H-shaped rolled beams as bridge girders. A new type of shear connectors is also developed for the composite behavior between a simple steel-concrete composite deck and the rolled beams by the connecting conditions between the deck and the girders. One is a connector bolt that is lengthened and split or tightened with two nuts and the other is an I-shaped rolled beam welded on a steel plate with a number of holes punched through the web. In this study, to estimate the shear strength of those shear connectors the push-out tests are performed and the test results are compared with that of the previous studies and the codes. The result of the push-out tests of the connector bolts showed that the shear performance is similar to that of the stud connector and revealed that the equation for the shear strength in the Korean Specification of Highway Bridge overestimates the shear capacity of the connector bolt whose diameter is larger than 19mm. From the push-out tests of punched I-shaped rolled beams with varying welding amounts, with the small amount of welding, shear capacity is governed by the shear capacity of welding. On the other hand, shear capacity is governed by the size of the punched I-shaped rolled beams, regardless of the amount of welding.

  • This study conducted nonlinear finite element analysis to figure out the influence of shear performance on the ${\beta}$ of girders with trapezoidal corrugated web. Through the experiment specimen, analysis model which is highly accurate was verified. Based on this, a parameter analysis was conducted on key variables affecting ${\beta}$. Proposed formulas of previous studies were analyzed using parameter analysis result. Eurocode was designed to be safer than other proposals. Only models that are included in the inelastic area, depending on the Moon's proposal, were satisfied the proposed formulas by Kim to enhance economic design.

  • This study manufactured the radiating element of multi-band antenna skin structure which satisfy electrical and mechanical performance and is made by double injection molding process. Structural test including impact and buckling test is carried out and stress analysis is simulated to evaluate safety of radiating element for the axial and shear loads, when changing of the skin structure is occurred by the external force. To predict allowable load of structure and evaluate safety on impact and buckling, experimental and analytic method is used in strength analysis of structure.

  • Affine transformation was used to analyze the bending, buckling and vibration behaviors of a thick antisymmetric angle-ply rectangular simply supported laminate. Introducing the generalized parameters, the comprehensive solutions are found. The generalized parameters are a generalized rigidity ratio ( $D^*1), a generalized Poisson's ratio (.epsilon.) and a principal rigidity ratio (.alpha.). Hence, the transverse deflection decreases, the uniaxial buckling load and the fundamental frequency increase with increasing $D^*1 and decreasing .alpha., but the effect of .epsilon. is negligible. With decreasing the thickness ratio, the results by the classical plate theory are more erroneous. The transverse deflection is minimum, the uniaxial buckling load and the fundamental frequency are maximum if the fiber angle is 45.deg., and number of plies is more than 4. The time and efforts can be saved to understand the behaviors of composite laminates because these results can be applied to another composite material easily.sily.

  • In this paper, we investigate the static response. natural frequencies and buckling loads of functionally graded material (FGM) plates, using a Navier method. The eigenvalues of the FGM plates and shells are calculated by varying the volume fraction of the ceramic and metallic constituents using a sigmoid function, but their Poisson's ratios of the FGM plates and shells are assumed to be constant. The expressions of the membrane. bending and shear stiffness of FGM plates art more complicated combination of material properties than a homogeneous element. In order to validate the present solutions, the reference solutions of rectangular plates based on the classical theory are used. The various examples of composite and FGM structures are presented. The present results are in good agreement with the reference solutions.

  • Generally the stiffened plate in the ship structure is subjected to not only axial load but shear load. With respect to those combined loads buckling analysis in necessary. In this paper, buckling strength is analyzed by using Finite Element Method when the stiffened plate with hole is under loading conditions mentioned above. To obtain the higher buckling strength, we need some reinforcement. The methods of reinforcement are attaching doubler around hole and stiffeners in the arbitrary directions For the sake of convenience those arbitrary directions were selected paralleled($0^{\circ}C$), vertical($90^{\circ}C$)and oblique($45^{\circ}C$) to the edge. Two kinds of method mentioned above are investigated, it is clarified that which of the two is more effective reinforcement. From the viewpoint of buckling strength, following conclusions were obtained. When external load direction is unknown, doubler reinforcement is more effective than those of parallel and vertical stiffener. And oblique stiffener reinforcement is more effective than that of doubler when external load direction is know.

  • This research is about design of slit type FLD which secure the buckling stability of compressive brace. 4 slit type and 8 slit type specimens were experimented by pure compressive loading. Comparing the experiment results with FEA results, the good correspondence is appeared each other. Also for deriving strength-displacement formular, an unit section of slit type FLD is transferred to idealized sandwich section. This formular explains satisfactorily experiment results, in given condition. The result of this research will be used as basic data in FLD design.

  • The sigmoid functionally graded mateiral(S-FGM) theory is reformulated using the nonlocal elatictiry of Erigen. The equation of equilibrium of the nonlocal elasticity are derived. This theory has ability to capture the both small scale effects and sigmoid function in terms of the volume fraction of the constituents for material properties through the plate thickness. Navier's method has been used to solve the governing equations for all edges simply supported boundary conditions. Numerical solutions of biaxial buckling of nano-scale plates are presented using this theory to illustrate the effects of nonlocal theory and power law index of sigmoid function on buckling load. The relations between nonlocal and local theories are discussed by numerical results. Further, effects of (i) power law index, (ii) length, (iii) nonlocal parameter, (iv) aspect ratio and (v) mode number on nondimensional biaxial buckling load are studied. To validate the present solutions, the reference solutions are discussed.
