International cooperation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is expected to provide a big crisis and a great opportunity at the same time for our industry that heavily consumes energy. To cope actively with the international environmental regulation, such as the Framework Convention on Climate Change, quantitative measurement of the volume of greenhouse gases emitted by various industries and quantitative prediction of the greenhouse gas emissions of the future are becoming more important than anything else at the national level. This study aims to propose the calculation process of carbon dioxide($CO_2$) emission for building in life cycle. This paper describes and compares 9 different tool for environmental load estimation with LCA. This study proposed the calculation process for quantitatively predicting and assessing $CO_2$ emissions during the life cycle of buildings based on the life cycle assessment(LCA). The life cycle steps of buildings were divided into the design/supervision, new construction, repair, renovation, use of operating energy in buildings, maintenance, and reconstruction stage in the life cycle inventory analysis and the method of assessing the environmental load in each stage was proposed.
In this study, we conducted a comparative life cycle assessment (LCA) of two different products, considering reusable and single-use packaging for fresh food distribution. For reusable packaging, we utilized expanded polyethylene (EPE), while for comparison, a disposable box made of widely used expanded polystyrene (EPS) was selected. We comprehensively analyzed the environmental impacts of production, transportation, reprocessing (for reused boxes), and disposal across 18 impact categories. Upon analyzing the actual reuse of 300 rounds of fresh food, the cumulative global warming potential (GWP) values for the EPE box were found to be 280.21 kg carbon dioxide (CO2) eq, demonstrating a significant 75% reduction compared to those of the EPS box. Furthermore, it was observed that the GWP values for the EPE boxes became equivalent to those of the EPS boxes after 12 rounds of reuse. In conclusion, reusable packaging shows substantial potential to contribute to the reduction of environmental burdens, aligning well with global environmental requirements for sustainable food distribution and related industries.
The quality changes during the removal of astringecy by CO$_2$gas at 2$^{\circ}C$ and 20$^{\circ}C$ of three varieties of persimmons named 'Tonewase', 'Chungdobanshi' and 'Sagokshi' were examined. Astringency index and tannin content showed rapid decrease at 20$^{\circ}C$ and gradual decrease at 2$^{\circ}C$. All was edible 2days from the removal of astringency at 20$^{\circ}C$, while 'Tonewase' and 'Sagokshi' were edible on 6days and 'Chungdobanshi' on 10days after treatment at 2$^{\circ}C$. Soluble solid contents was decreased a little(1∼3%) during the removal of astringency. Hardness was decreased slowly but, kept over 1.0kg/$\phi$5mm till edible period in all varieties at 2$^{\circ}C$ and 20$^{\circ}C$. The hardness of 'Chungdobanshi' was kept well after the removal of astringency at 2$^{\circ}C$. No noticeable color changes in all varieties during treatment. Injury fruits were noticeable in only 'Tonewase' after the removal of astringency treatment at 2$^{\circ}C$.
The first Japanese pilot-scale $CO_2$ sequestration project has been undertaken in an onshore saline aquifer, near Nagaoka in Niigata prefecture, and time-lapse well logs were carried out in observation wells to detect the arrival of injected $CO_2$ and to evaluate $CO_2$ saturation in the reservoir. $CO_2$ was injected into a thin permeable zone at the depth of 1110m at a rate of 20-40 tonnes per day. The total amount of injected $CO_2$ was 10400 tonnes, during the injection period from July 2003 to January 2005. The pilot-scale demonstration allowed an improved understanding of the $CO_2$ movement in a porous sandstone reservoir, by conducting time-lapse geophysical well logs at three observation wells. Comparison between neutron well logging before and after the insertion of fibreglass casing in observation well OB-2 showed good agreement within the target formation, and the higher concentration of shale volume in the reservoir results in a bigger difference between the two well logging results. $CO_2$ breakthrough was identified by induction, sonic, and neutron logs. By sonic logging, we confirmed P-wave velocity reduction that agreed fairly well with a laboratory measurement on drilled core samples from the Nagaoka site. We successfully matched the history changes of sonic P-wave velocity and estimated $CO_2$ saturation a(ter breakthrough in two observation wells out of three. The sonic-velocity history matching result suggested that the sweep efficiency was about 40%. Small effects of $CO_2$ saturation on resistivity resulted in small changes in induction logs when the reservoir was partially saturated. We also found that $CO_2$ saturation in the $CO_2$-bearing zone responded to suspension of $CO_2$ injection.

In this study, life cycle assessment(LCA) technique was employed to evaluate the environmental impact of material recycling of polyethylene terephthalate(PET) bottle. Life cycle inventory was established based on the data collected from recycling companies in Korea. Simapro 5.0 LCA software and Eco-indicator 95 index were used for the analysis. The biggest impact by the material recycling of PET bottle on the environmental category was the global warming. It is because melting and production of the recycled PET product consume a significant amount of electricity and energy. In the environmental pollution discharge, $CO_2$ emission was the highest, followed by NOx. This is probably due to the use of diesel and gasoline in the consumption of electricity and transportation. All the environmental impact showed (-) value except the ozone layer depletion, which means that the material recycling of PET bottle is environmentally fair. The use of recycled PET product greatly reduced the environmental impact.

In this study, eco efficiency analysis is performed to analyze Neodymium (Nd) containing permanent magnet recycling process. Life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle costing (LCC) are used to apply eco efficiency analysis. In the environmental aspects, global warming potential (GWP) of 1kg permanent magnet is 1.25E + 00 kg $CO_2$ eq. and abiotic resource depletion potential (ADP) is 1.10E - 02 Sb eq. This recycling process costs about 2130 KWR. Environmental efficiency of GWP is at 6.43 and ADP is at 5.32 when compared with vigin metal. Economic efficiency is at 6.74. This study confirms that Nd containing permanent magnet recycling process is sustainable system because of environmental and economical improvement.
In this study, carbon emissions and energy consumption were evaluated to establish a design strategy which has low energy consumption and carbon emission production, by using life cycle energy (LCE) and life cycle $CO_2(LCCO_2)$ calculation methods in life cycle management(LCM) tools. After improvement design projects, the energy consumption and $CO_2$ emission were calculated and compared in three sewage treatment plants (STPs), which are A STP, B STP, and C STP. The reduction of carbon emissions was 28,020.1 ton $CO_{2-}e/yr$, 37,399.6 ton $CO_{2-}e/yr$ and 8,788.3 ton $CO_{2-}e/yr$, respectively. Production of energy was 792 TOE/yr, 1,235 TOE/yr and 1,023 TOE/yr, respectively. As a result, the estimation of energy and energy self-sufficiency was 5.1 %, 14.5 % and 23.5 %, respectively. The result of this study shows the LCM can be contributed to establish strategy for energy and carbon emission reduction in sewage treatment plants.
This study was carried out to estimate carbon footprint and to establish of LCA of garlic production system. We have case study in cultivate garlic 1 kg calculate in carbon footprint. LCA carried out to estimate carbon footprint and to establish of LCI (life cycle inventory) database of garlic production system. The data is from Research of Farmer's income in 2010 (RDA, 2011), and used Pass (5.0.0) program. The value of fertilizer, amount of pesticide input were shown the environmental effect and direct emission. Carbon footprint in agriculture guarantees the choice right the consumer to choose the lower carbon goods. Its can make to strengthen of agriculture and food industry's reduction effort of $CO_2$. Nowadays consumer requests food's safety and environment friendly process. Carbon footprint also needs consumer's relief and incentives.

In order to determine how much a new green building reduce the environmental impacts, it is necessary to establish the reference target for comparison. Therefore, this study aims to establish the reference target by evaluating the environmental impacts of existing buildings. To ensure this end, this study evaluated the environmental impacts(Global warming potential, ozone layer depletion potential, acidification potential, eutrophication potential, photochemical ozone creation potential, and abiotic depletion potential) of 17 existing elementary school buildings, which are located in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and Gwangju, by using the hybrid LCA model. As a result, the environmental impacts of the case buildings were clearly distinguished in different regions. Therefore, this study presented the reference targets which are appropriate to each region. For example, the reference targets for global warming potential, which can be used in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and Gwangju, are 3.76E+03, 1.90E+03, 2.63E+03, $2.81E+03kg-CO_2\;eq./m^2$, respectively. The presented reference targets are expected to be useful for understanding how much environmental impacts can be reduced when a new green school building is constructed.
