Tan-Cheng 파손기준을 이용한 직물 CFRP 적층판의 원거리 하중에 대한 파괴강도 평가 (Evaluation of Failure Strength of Woven CFRP Composite Plate Subject to Axial Load by Tan-Cheng Failure Criterion)

  • In the manufacture of CFRP(Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composite) composite structures, various independent components join by bolts and pins. Holes for bolts and pins have an effect on the failure strength of such structures, because those act as notches in structures. The failure characteristic of such structures are different from those of plain plate subject to remote load. In this paper, tensile properties of woven CFRP composite plates with laminates of $0^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ were obtained according to ASTM D 3039. By using obtained tensile failure strength and Tan-Cheng failure criterion, tensile failure strength of CFRP laminate with arbitrary fiber angle were evaluated. Also, the degradation of tensile properties by center hole(${\phi}10mm$) with a remote load was evaluated and the failure strengths were applied to Tan's failure criterion, similarly.

  • When propagating the thickness direction of composite laminates ultrasound waves interacts strongly with the orientation and sequence of the plies in a layup. Also the layup orientation greatly influences its properties in a composite laminate. If one ply of the layup orientation is misaligned, it could result in the part being rejected and discarded. Now, most researchers cut a small coupon from the waste edge and use a microscope to optically verify the ply sequences on important parts. Those may add a substantial cost to the product since the test is both labor hard and performed after the part is cured. A nondestructive technique would be very beneficial, which could be used to test the part after curing and require less time than the optical test. Therefore we have developed, reduced, and implemented a novel ply-by-ply vector decomposition model for composite lam mates fabricated from unidirectional plies. This model decomposes the transmission of a linearly polarized ultrasound wave into orthogonal components through each ply of a laminate. It is found that a high probability shows between the model and tests developed in characterizing cured layups of the laminates.

  • Most of studies, using ESPI method, have handled tension, thermal and vibration analysis, and is limited to isotropic materials. However, tension and vibration simultaneously are loaded in real structure. Also, almost study using ESPI method is locally limited to the analysis on the isotropic materials and a few studies on the anisotropic materials have reported. Existing methods, such as the accelerometer method and FEA method, to analyze vibration have some disadvantages. Using the accelerometer method that is generally used to analyze vibration phenomena, it is impossible to analyze vibration on the oscillating body and one can observe no vibration mode shape during experiment. In case of the FEA method, it is difficult to define boundary conditions correctly if the shape of a body tested is complex, and one can just obtain vibration mode shapes on the peak amplitude in each modes. In this study, plane plate of stainless steel(STS304), isotropic material, that is used as structural steel is analyzed about vibration characteristics under tension. Also, in the study of stainless steel, the characteristics of composite material(AS4/PEEK) used as high strength structural material in aircraft is evaluated about vibration under tension, and studies the effect of tension on vibration.

  • Recently, carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP) composite materials have been widely used in various fields of engineering because of its advanced properties. Also, CFRP composite materials offer new design flexibilities, corrosion and wear resistance, low thermal conductivity and increased fatigue life. However CFRP composite materials are susceptible to impact damage due to their lack of through-thickness reinforcement and it causes large drops in the load-carrying capacity of a structure. Therefore, the impact damage behavior and subsequently load-carrying capacity of impacted composite materials deserve careful investigation. In this study, the residual strength and impact characteristics of plain-woven CFRP composites with impact damage are investigated under axial tensile test. By using obtained residual strength and Tan-Cheng failure criterion, residual strength of CFRP laminate with arbitrary fiber angle were evaluated.

  • Many researchers have tried to develop the piezoelectric shell element and verified them with the benchmarking problem of the piezoelectric bimorph beam since there is no experimental result for the control of shell structure with piezoelectric sensor/actuator. In this paper, the experiments are designed and performed to verify the control Performance of piezoelectric sensor/actuator on the shell structure. PVDF is easy to be attached on the surface of a shell structure but makes weak control forces. On the contrary, PZT makes control forces large enough to control the structure, but it is not easy to make a PZT element with curvature. To use PVDF as an actuator, the structure should be designed as flexible as possible and the voltage amplifier could make high control voltage. PVDF actuator powered by a voltage amplifier that generates output voltage from -200 to +200 volts, shows little control performance to control the vibration of an arch type shell structure. The performance of sensor looks good and the negative velocity feedback control works perfectly. The actuator voltage seems to be too small to verify the control effect Quantitatively. An experiment with high voltage amplifier is scheduled to verify the control effect Quantitatively.

군용차량 방탄재 최적화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Armor Optimization of Military Vehicle)

  • During the land operations, the enemy's gunnery is the primary threat. For the military vehicle, the bulletproof effect is the one of the important issues regarding the safety of soldiers on duty. Recently, the advanced military vehicles have planned to install armor plates. However, due to the budget problem, it is difficult to equip the protection systems. Hence, the optimum approach to increase bulletproof capability is essential. In this paper, the optimum thickness and component of the armor of military vehicles were evaluated by using finite element analysis for bullet impact effects. To achieve this aim, 7.62mm NATO bullet, 1.6mm steel and Kevlar-29 composite have been modeled and the simulations were conducted with various thickness cases by using MSC Nastran sol 700. Consequently, it was revealed that Kevlar-29 45 Layer is appropriate thickness for 7.62 bulletproof. Furthermore, Kevlar-29 in front of steel was effective by comparison with the back of steel for bulletproof.

충격시 CFRP 복합재 판의 거동과 충격후 압축강도에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Investigation on the Behaviour of CFRP Laminated Composites under Impact and Compression After Impact (CAI))

  • 충격 시나 충격 후 압축 할 때 구조용 복합재의 거동에 대한 중요성은 충격 손상과 충격후압축강도 예측에 대한 해석적 모델을 개발하기 위해 간과될 수 없을 것이다. 본 연구는 3mm두께의 $[45/-45/0/90_{3s}$ - IM7/8552린복합재판들을 이용하여 준정적횡하중시험, 저속충격시험, 충격후압축강도시험 및 구멍이 있는 시편의 압축강도시험 등을 수행한 후 이로 부터 발견된 결과들을 제시하였다 준정적횡하중과 충격하중시험에서 발생한 손상면적들이 서로 유사하며. 또한 5.4 J 부터 18.7 J 까지의 다양한 에너지준위들을 가진 낙하충격 시험 곡선들과 정적시험 곡선들도 서로 유사하다는 결론을 얻었으며. 이때 주어진 에너지 준위에서 정적과 충격시의 최대하중 값들이 잘 일치한다는 사실을 확인 하였다. 충격 후 압축시험에 의한 시편들의 파괴거동이 압축하중하의 구멍이 있는 적층판에서 관찰된 파괴거동과 매우 유사하과는 사실도 확인 되었다. 충격손상 후 잔류강도는 충격손상 등가구멍이 있는 경우의 시편에서 측정된 압축 강도와 잘 일치 하였다. 이와 같은 실험적 연구 결과들은 충격손상면적과 충격후압축강도의 예측에 대한 단순만 해석모델들이 이들 시험결과들로부터 관찰된 파괴기구를 기초로 하여 개발될 수 있음을 제시하고 있다.

전자파 흡수체를 위한 전도성 소재로서의 탄소나노소재의 특성에 대한 연구 (A Study on Carbon Nano Materials as Conductive Oilers for Microwave Absorbers)

  • 본 논문에서는 카본 블랙, 탄소나노섬유, 탄소나노튜브를 혼합한 유리섬유/에폭시 복합재료 적층판의 복소 유전율과 그 특성이 전자파 흡수체 설계에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 실험은 벡터회로망분석기와 7 mm 동축관을 이용하여 0.5 GHz$\sim$18 GHz의 주파수 영역에서 수행하였다. 실험결과는 복합재료의 복소 유전율이 첨가된 탄소나노소재의 함유율과 그 특성에 강하게 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 복소 유전율의 실수부와 허수부는 탄소나노소재의 함유량에 따라 증가하지만, 탄소나노소재의 형태에 따라서 그 증가율이 모두 다르게 나타났다. 이러한 상이한 증가율은 단층형 흡수체의 설계에 있어서 두께에 영향을 준다. 이러한 영향은 단층형 흡수체를 설계하기 위한 복소 유전율의 해와 실험으로부터 얻은 세가지 종류의 복합재료의 복소 유전율을 함께 배치한 Cole-Cole 선도를 이용하여 평가되었다. 설계결과를 바탕으로 각각의 탄소나노소재를 이용하여 -10 dB의 흡수대역이 모두 3 GHz이면서 두께가 서로 다른 흡수체를 개발하였다.

탄소/탄소 브레이크 디스크의 열탄성 해석과 3차원 응력해석 및 설계 (Thermo-Elastic Analysis, 3-Dimensional Stress Analysis and Design of Carbon/Carbon Brake Disk)

  • 이 논문에서는 탄소/탄소 브레이크 제동중 시스템의 거동을 열탄성 해석을 수행하여 살펴보았고. 파손에 안정적인 디스크의 형상을 찾기 위하여 다양한 형상에 대한 3차원 응력해석을 수행하였다. 탄소/탄소 복합재료의 기계적 물성치가 적층면방향과 두께방향으로 측정되었다. 측정긴 기계적 물성치는 열탄성 해석과 3차원 응력해석을 위한 입력으로 사용 되었다. 로터 클립과 클립 리테이너 사이의 간격은 회전판의 하중전달 미케니즘에 있어서 중요만 인자이다. 간격변화는 기계적 변형과 열 변형으로 분리하여 고려하였다. 클립과 리테이터는 서로 접촉이 발생하지 않았으므로 해석 모델에서 리테이너와 리벳은 제외되었다. 로터 디스크는 반복대칭조건을 사용하여 모델링되었고, 로터 디스크와 로터 클립, 로터 클립과 키 드럼사이의 2중 접촉문제가 고려되었다. 3차인 응력해석의 결과로부터 브레이크 디스크의 키 홀 부분에 응력집중현상이 발생하는 것을 확인하였다. 응력분포는 키 홀 부분에서 접촉면의 회전각과 곡률반경의 변화에 따라 연구 되었다.

곡면형 비대칭 압전복합재료 작동기 LIPCA의 설계해석/제작/성능평가 (Design Analysis/Manufacturing /Performance Evaluation of Curved Unsymmetrical Piezoelectric Composite Actuator LIPCA)

  • This paper is concerned with design, manufacturing and performance test of LIPCA ( Lightweight Piezo- composite Curved Actuator) using a top carbon fiber composite layer with near -zero CTE(coefficient of thermal expansion), a middle PZT ceramic wafer and a bottom glass/epoxy layer with high CTE. The main point of this design is to replace the heavy metal layers of THUNDER by thigh tweight fiber reinforced plastic layers without losing capabilities to generate high force and large displacement. It is possible to save weight up to about 30% if we replace the metallic backing material by the light fiber composite layer. We can also have design flexibility by selecting the fiber direction and the size of prepreg layers. In addition to the lightweight advantage and design flexibility, the proposed device can be manufactured without adhesive layers when we use epoxy resin prepreg system. Glass/epoxy prepregs, a ceramic wafer with electrode surfaces, and a graphite/epoxy prepreg were simply stacked and cured at an elevated temperature (177 $^{circ}C$ after following an autoclave bagging process. It was found that the manufactured composite laminate device had a sufficient curvature after detached from a flat mold. The analysis method of the cure curvature of LIPCA using the classical lamination theory is presented. The predicted curvatures are fairly in agreement with the experimental ones. In order to investigate the merits of LIPCA, a performance test of both LIPCA and THUNDE$^{TM}$ were conducted under the same boundary conditions. From the experimental actuation tests, it was observed that the developed actuator could generate larger actuation displacement than THUNDERT$^{TM}$.
