The area of red tides occurences, which brings enormous damages every year, have been expanded to the coastal waters across the nation. Regarding to this trend, the development of red tide detection technology by using the GOCI (Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) of COMS lauched in 2010 has been drawn attentions of researchers. This study purposed on analyzing the frequency and density of red tides occurence by using the GOCI for detecting the southern sea, whereas targeted area. The observation has brought over the last three years (2012, 2013, and 2014) before the analysis was conducted. Followingly, the study could be resulted in extracting and revealing the hot spots of the red tides from two of analysis in the overlay and density. The distribution patterns of red tide occurrences according to those observed years has been shown in irregular characteristics and various changes. However, the analysis of hot spots, based on the frequency of the red tide occurrence, has revealed that the frequency of red tide occurences is continuously increased in the specific sea area. Therefore, it is concluded in that the continuous monitoring can contribute to predict accurate movements of red tides, so as establish systematic plans for preventing disasters.

There have been many studies on red tide because of increasing of damage to sea farming by a red tide blooms of harmful algae. The studies of red tide have mostly focused chemical properties and investigation of biological cause. If we can predict the occurrence of red tide, we will be able to minimize the damage of red tide. However, internal study of prediction of red tide blooms is only classification method that is still insufficient for red tide blooms forecast. In this paper, we proposed the red tide blooms prediction method using neural network and SVM.

Based on the results of harmful algal blooms (HABs) monitoring by the National Institute of Fisheries Science and local governments, the effects of changes in the marine environment on HABs are described. Since the beginning of HABs monitoring in 1972, they continued to increase from the 1980s to the 1990s. After the largest number of HAB incidents (109) in 1998; the trend declined until the 2010s. Most HABs in the 1970s were caused by diatoms. In the 1980s, coastal dinoflagellates caused HABs; Cochlodinium polykrikoides blooms have been occurring continuously since 1993. There are three HAB species that cause damage to fisheries in Korea. The high-density bloom of Karenia mikimotoi caused mass mortality in shellfish in Jinhae Bay in 1981. Karenia sp. blooms occurring around Tongyeong in 1992 killed aquaculture fish. Since the occurrence of the largest fisheries damage of KRW 76.6 billion in 1995 caused by C. polykrikoides blooms, they have been occurring continuously. The concentration of nutrients in coastal waters was the highest in the 1980s and has declined since the mid-1990s. This reduction in nutrient concentration is a good explanation for the decreasing number of HABs. Since 2016, a summer high water temperature of 30℃ or more has appeared, and the range and scale of C. polykrikoides blooms have been greatly reduced. In 2016, K. mikimotoi blooms occurred around Wando, Jangheung and Goheung and small scale blooms of C. polykrikoides occurred around Yeosu. There were no C. polykrikoides blooms in 2017; however, Alexandrium affine blooms occurred from Yeosu to Tongyeong. There was a small-scale blooms of C. polykrikoides in 2018 compared to those in the previous years. Our results show that reduction in nutrients and the high water temperature owing to climate change are a good explanation for variation in HABs in Korean coastal waters.

Few researches related to the spatial determination of areas where red tide occurs have been performed, so accurately determining the area where red tide occurs and disappears poses difficulties. Therefore, a more objective and scientific method is necessary to analyze the occurrence and movement of red tide based on a geo-spatial information system. In this study, the coastline was extracted using a digital topographic map in order to examine areas where red tide occurs each year. An analysis of red tide occurrence areas, which were determined based on red tide data for the last several years, showed that only Yeoja bay had almost a zero case of red tide of the areas studied, whereas Dolsando in the South Sea and NamHaedo Aenggang bay areas exhibited the highest frequency of red tide occurrences. Based on these results, by using a system that determines the geo-spatial distribution status of areas repeatedly hit by red tide every year, it would be possible to predict the course of red tide and prevent consequent damages.

It is studied on the relationship between the occurrence of red tide and the meteorological factors(precipitation, air temperature, sunshine and winds) in the middle coastal area in the South Sea of Korea. In summer and early-fall which frequently occurred the red tide, the precipitation had directly influence on the occurrence of red tide because it carried the nutritive substances which originated from the land into the coastal areas. Then air temperature kept up generally high values, and sunshine and winds showed not directly the relationship on the occurrence of red tide.

Red tide is a natural phenomenon temporary blooming harmful algal with changing sea color from normal to red, which fish and shellfish die en masse. It also give a bad influence to coastal environment and sea ecosystem. The damage of sea farming by a red tide has been occurred each year which it cost much to prevent disasters of red tide blooms. Red tide damage and prevention cost of red tide disasters can be minimized by means of prediction of red tide blooms. In this paper, we proposed the red tide blooms prediction method using ensemble train. The proposed method use the bagging and boosting ensemble train methods for enhancing red tide prediction and forecast. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a better red tide prediction performance than other single classifiers.
