Modification of the Reference Signal for Fast Convergence in LMS-based Adaptive Equalizers (LMS 기반 적응 등화기에서 빠른 수렴을 위한 기준신호 변형)

  • In adaptive equalizers based on least mean squares (LMS) algorithms, the convergence rate is determined by the convariance matrix of an input signal. When the eigenvalue spread of the convariance matrix is close to unity, the convergence rate is quite fast. In this paper, for fast convergence of LMS-based adaptive equalizers we propose a modified reference signal pertinent to the statistical channel. From the theoretical analysis and computer simulation, it is shown that the proposed modification method is quite effective for fast convergence of LMS-based adaptive equalizers.

  • 아동기에 읽은 동화는 일생에 걸쳐 가치관과 태도 형성에 중대한 영향을 주게 된다. 그런데 아동이 즐겨 보는 전래동화에서 대부분의 계부모-자녀관계가 부정적으로 다루어지고 있다. 이것은 현재와 같은 이혼의 증가로 인한 재혼가족의 증가 추세에서 사악한 계모의 상을 제시한 전래동화가 계부모-계자녀의 적응에 부정적인 영향을 더할 가능성을 시사한다. 이 연구에서는 서울 시내 남녀 대학생 271명을 대상으로 그들이 아동기에 읽은 계모-계자녀 관계를 다룬 3편의 전래동화가 그들에게 어떤 편견을 형성하였다고 판단하는 지를 조사하였다. 이를 위하여 질문지를 사용하였고, 분석을 위하여 빈도, 백분율, $\chi2$ 분석을 사용하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생은 아동기에 백설공주라는 외국의 전래동화를 콩쥐팥쥐나 장화홍련전과 같은 한국 전래동화보다 더 많이 읽었고, 그 내용에 대해서도 더 잘 인지하고 있었다. 이런 경향은 여학생이 남학생보다 더욱 그러하였다. 둘째, 대학생은 백설공주, 콩쥐팥쥐, 장화홍련전에서 계모-계자녀간의 적응을 방해하는 부정적인 계모상을 연상하였다. 넷째, 여학생이 남학생보다 여성 주인 彭?계모에 대한 편견과 인지에 더욱 민감하였다. 다섯째, 이들 동화가 편견을 형성한다는 것을 인지하면서도, 절반 정도의 대학생은 이들 동화를 친지 아동에게 권하거나 선물하려고 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Local Multipoint Distribution Service(LMDS) 시스템을 위한 결정궤솬 적응 등화기를 웨이블릿 변환영역 적응 알고리즘을 이용하여 설계하였다. 아울러, 제시된 결정 궤환 등화기를 16-QAM/QPSK 변조 방식을 이용한 Rummler 채널 모델을 사용하여 성능을 검증하였다. LMDS 채널 및 시스템 특성에 적합한 수치적 복잡성과 수렴 속도를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • 현재 DSP는 음성 및 오디오 신호처리 시스템, 디지털 통신 시스템, 제어 시스템, 영상처리 시스템 등 많은 영역에 걸쳐 성공적으로 사용되고 있다. 몇가지 대표적인 활용분야를 살펴보면, 음성신호 압축 분야 [1-4], MPEG (moving picture expert group)과 같은 오디오신호 압축분야[5,6], 그리고 디지털 통신 시스템에서의 적응 반향제거기, 적응 동화기, 채널간섭 제거, 변복조기, 채널 코딩, 암호화기[7-14] 등에서도 DSP가 사용되고 있다. 그리고 수중 음향 신호처리[15], 디지털 필터 디자인, 전력 스펙트럼 추정, 수중 음향 신호처리 같은 디지털 신호처리 분야[16-23]와 적응 신호처리[24-26], 이외에도 능동 소음 제어기 및 적응 제어기와 같은 제어 시스템 [27]에도 유용하게 이용되고 있다. 또한 영상 압축, 디지털 방송, 의료기기 등과 같은 영상처리 분야[28-32] 및 그 밖의 많은 분야에서 DSP의 활용은 점점 커져가고 있는 추세이다.

A Design of Adaptive Equalizer using the Walsh-Block Pulse Functions and the Optimal LMS Algorithms (윌쉬-블록펄스 함수와 최적 LMS알고리즌을 이용한 적응 등화기의 설계)

  • In this paper, we introduce a Walsh network and an LMS algorithm, and show how these can be realized as an adaptive equalizer. The Walsh network is built from a set of Walsh and Block pulse functions. In the LMS algorithm, the convergence factor is an important design parameter because it governs stability and convergence speed, which depend on the proper choice of the convergence facotr. The conventional adaptation techniques use a fixed time constant convergence factor by the method of trial and error. In this paper, we propose an optimal method in the choice of the convergence factor. The proposed algorithm depends on the received signal and the output of the Walsh network in real time.

Acculturation Strategies of Immigrated Women and Adolescents' Career Development (이주 여성의 문화적응 유형과 청소년기 자녀 진로 지원)

  • This study examined the acculturation strategies of immigrant women and the relationship in adolescents' career development. The data were from 2016 Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study, 1,248 cases. The highest rate was the assimilation followed by integration, separation and marginalization among immigrant women' acculturation strategies. The parenting efficacy, behaviors for career development and parents' support were related with acculturation strategies. The adolescents' career attitudes and perceived career barriers were also related with the acculturation strategies of immigrant mothers. As compared other strategies, assimilation strategy had positive relationships with parenting efficacy, behaviors for career development, parents' support, adolescents' career attitudes and perceived career barriers. This study provided some implications for immigrant families with adolescents.

  • Current support policies for multicultural families translate the focus on educating multicultural children from the initial adjustment of foreign-born brides. By contrast with Korean-born biracial/biethnic children of international couples, foreign-born immigrant children suffer linguistic and cultural differences. This study explores the acculturational difficulties and needs of school-aged immigrant adolescents in Busan Metropolitan city and suggests policies to meet their needs. Seventeen participants, including immigrant adolescents, immigrant parents, in-school service providers and out-school service providers, were recruited, and focus-group interviews were conducted. The major themes show that school-aged immigrant adolescents suffer from cultural/racial differences, different naming practices, linguistic differences, and age gaps. In addition, the study participants strongly call for KSL education, academic mentoring programs, career education, and education for multicultural understanding. This study suggests that future policies should be designed to support immigrant adolescents based on a diversity model beyond assimilationist approaches of adeficitmodel.

  • Today, residential facilities is planned and built based on modular architecture. In the modular housing, sizes and locations of spaces like rooms, kinchin, and bathrooms can be changed from-time-to-time. Therefore, current home automation systems based on predesigned and fixed system with wired sensors can not be suitable for the modular housing. As a result, a new concept-based homw automation system is required which is able to adopt varying home environment. Since the change of spaces will change the number of and types of necessary sensors, the home automation system enables to detect automatically and naturally the added or removed different types of wireless sensors and provides home automation services. In this paper, a home automation system is studied and implemented which can adopt varying space environment by detecting automatically added or removed sensors and provide new user interfaces for displaying sensing information.

The modified adaptive blind stop-and-go algorithm for application to multichannel environment (다중 채널 환경에 적용을 위한 변형된 적응 블라인드 stop-and-go 알고리듬)

  • An adaptive blind equalizer is used to combat the distortions caused by a nonideal channel without resorting to a training sequence, given the received signal and statistical information of the transmitted signal. Incidentally, a multipath channel may result in a fade which produces intersymbol interference in the received signal. Therefore, a new type of algorithm which can compenste the effects of this fade is required in the multipath channel environment. In this paper, a modified form of adaptive blind equalization algorithm using stop-and-go algorithm for multichannel system is proposed. It is demonstrated via computer simulations that the performance of the proposed multichannel stop-and-go algorithm is much better than that of the conventional multichannel algorithms.

On the NTSC Cochannel Interference Rejection System Using Adaptive Notch Filter (적응 노치필터를 이용한 NTSC 동일 채널 간섭 제거 시스템)

  • Recently, there has been much interest in the terrestrial broadcasting of the HDTV signal. However, in the Simulcast where the NTSC and HDTV signal are transmitted using the same channel, the cochannel interference occurs which degrade the transmission performance. Recently, the GA(Grand Alliance) proposed the cochannel interference rejection system which use comb filter. However, this method shows poor performance for the NTSC carrier variation [7]. In this paper we propose a novel NTSC cochannel interference rejection system which shows improved performance for the NTSC carrier variation. In the proposed scheme, the adaptive notch filter is employed along with adaptive channel equalizer. In this paper, we also present some analytical results on the NTSC rejection performance of the GA and proposed scheme. Computer simulation results reveal that the proposed scheme outperforms order outperforms order of 10 in the BER(bit error rate) sense for the normal condition.
