  • In this study, we examined classroom interaction to explore the relationships among teacher questions, turn-taking patterns, and student talks in mathematics classrooms. We analyzed lessons given by three elementary teachers (two first-grade teachers and one second-grade teacher) who worked in the same school using a conversation-analytic approach. We observed individual classrooms three times in a year. The results revealed that when teachers provided open-ended questions, such as "why and how" questions and "agree and disagree" questions, and used a non-IRE pattern (teacher initiation-student response-teacher feedback; Mehan, 1979), students more actively engaged in classroom discourse by justifying their ideas and refuting others' thinking. Conversely, when teachers provided closed-ended questions, such as "what" questions, and used an IRE pattern, students tended to give short answers focusing on only one point. The findings suggested teachers should use open-ended questions and non-IRE turn-taking patterns to create an effective math-talk learning community. In addition, school administrators and mathematics educators should support teachers to acquire practical knowledge regarding this approach.

  • Today, in the field of contemporary fashion design, AI is being actively utilized as a new design tool, leading to a new paradigm of collaboration between designers and AI. This study is about a method for developing integrated fashion design through collaboration between human designers and AI. The purpose of this study is to analyze the visual and formative characteristics and changes of fashion design images generated using the AI generation program Midjourney, thereby expanding the understanding and utilization methods of AI image generation programs in fashion design development. The results of this study are as follows. First, Midjourney has the characteristic of relying more on the characteristics of the existing image used rather than the command when creating the image. It also creates new images by distributing and applying the design through an eclectic interaction between the costume and the image background. By excluding the names of fashion items from the commands, you can generate images that can give you more diverse ideas. Second, Midjourney initially expressed clothing colors using colors used in fashion schematics in color creation, and gradually expanded to various color series. Third, there is a kind of compromise between color and design when Midjourney creates an image, and accordingly, by specifying and limiting the image background and clothing colors, more diverse and advanced fashion design images can be created.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and examine the effects of flipped learning in ancient Mesopotamian costume history. The flipped learning class was designed to three steps(pre-class, in-class, after-class). Pre-class: Students learned the socio-cultural background of Mesopotamia by watching videos online and Mesopotamian costume with PPT. In-class: Students were evaluated for their prior learning through the quiz. After the quiz, the instructor had a supplementary mini-lecture. Then the advanced learning was progressed with the team project(Mesopotamian costume analysis) by online Louvre Museum. Students made a team presentation and the instructor provided feedback. After-class: The effectiveness of flipped learning was measured based on the students' self-reflective journals and class awareness surveys. As the results, students actively participated in flipped learning and the class was rated appropriate. Students were satisfied with the overall quality of the flipped learning class. The Effect of Flip Learning Classes in reflective journals were shown as 'related flipped learning style,' 'related online Louvre museum project,' 'understanding of cooperative learning,' and 'contents of the class'. In conclusion, the flipped learning applied to Mesopotamian costume history was positive as a learner-centered education.

  • Flipped classroom has used widely in university in that its unique structure can facilitate learners' higher-thinking skills and promote competencies. Learners are expected to extend knowledge through performing online and offline, but they have difficulty in understanding their roles and specific behaviors to achieve the learning goals in the flipped learning. Therefore, a guidance for students has been required to support learners' mastery learning. The purpose of this study is to identify successful learners' characteristics in terms of "competency". For this, three-phased competency modeling was employed. In Phase I, Behavioral Event Interviews were conducted with eight learners of the flipped classroom. In Phase II for identifying competencies and developing a competency model, the data was coded, followed by testing reliability of the coding. Based on the meaning codes, competencies and behavioral indexes were developed. The final competencies consist of learning orientation, learning management, feedback seeking, peer interaction, and knowledge extension. In Phase III, validation of the competency model was conducted by explanatory factor analysis. As last, competencies were aligned by the two-phase of the flipped classroom. The finding will be used as the guidance for the learners and instructors in the flipped classroom.

  • This study is to design and apply the Havruta class in the geography class and to investigate the effects of the students' attitude on the geography class and the change of the academic achievement through the Havruta class. As a result, it was found to be effective. The students who experienced the lessons in the class were more interested in the geography class, so they were more active in the class activity and they were useful as the class strategy to turn into the self - leading learner participation class. Through the help of Havruta class, students have been helped to understand the concept of geography, and it can be seen that their interaction with their mates has changed into an active attitude to improve their problem-solving ability and creative thinking ability. But, the students who experienced Havruta class did not get a meaningful difference in the evaluation of academic achievement after the class application. We can expect a positive effect on the application of short-term teaching, but it is necessary to give appropriate grace period to the evaluation of the cognitive domain and to develop a proper evaluation method rather than the existing selective evaluation I knew.
