Supression Functions of Retrogradation in Korean Rice Cake(Garaeduk) by Various Surfactants (다양한 Surfactants의 가래떡 노화 억제 기능)

  • This study was conducted to investigate supression functions of retrogradation in Korean rice cake by various surfactants. Samples were manufactured by multifunctional extruder and wrapped with polyethylene wrap at 2$0^{\circ}C$ for four days of storage. In the thermal characteristics studies on supression of retrogradation, the Korean rice cake with various surfactants had lower onset temperature compared to the control. The Korean rice cake with GLF (glycerin fatty acid ester) had the lowest onset temperature. In case of peak temperatures, they showed a similar tendency to the onset temperature. All the Korean rice cakes added with various surfactants had low melting enthalpy values compared to the control. In addition the Korean rice cake with GLF added had the lowest melting enthalpy. Melting spreadabilities of the Korean rice cake added with GLF, SUF, SOF and PST were higher values than that of the control. The n value of Avrami exponent was 0.90 in case of the Korean rice cake added with GLF and its retrogradation was slowly progressed compared to the other samples. The Korean rice cake with GLF had the lowest rate constants of retrogradation. The recrystallinity of the Korean rice cake with GLF was relatively lower than that of the control. The rate constant of retrogradation showed the lowest value in case of GLF. All the Korean rice cakes added with surfactants were in good compared to the control in sensory characteristics. GLF exhibited the best effect in sensory characteristics during storage. In conclusion surfactant showed suppression effect of retrogradation in Korean rice cake, and GLF was best effective.

  • AMBIDEXTER-NEC의 천이노심은 $^{Nat}Th$$^{Nat}U$의 주입만으로 전 출력의 Break-even 노심에 도달하기위한 중간 단계이다. 선행연구에서 수행한 전 출력노심인 평형노심의 핵종수밀도에 도달하기 위해서 평형노심에서의 기저물질, 잠재핵분열성물질, 핵분열물질의 수밀도를 각 SEU-기반, Pu-기반, ADS-기반에서 그대로 유지하여 초기노심을 구성하였다. 또 각 시나리오에 대해 최대첨두출력과 원자로의 안전성을 고려해 Excess Reactivity를 5mk 내에서 초기노심을 결정하였다. 각 노심은 주 핵분열성물질 $^{235}U$, $^{239}Pu$$^{233}U$의 핵반응단면적 특성에 따라 평균 전환율이 각각 0.95, 0.83 및 1 .21 로서 핵연료물질의 적절한 선택만으로도 전환로, 연소로 및 증식로로 설계할 수 있음을 보여준다. 이러한 $Th/^{233}U$, U/Pu 핵연료주기를 사용하는 AMBIDEXTER-NEC 용융염핵연료 원자로의 초기노심에서 시작한 천이노심은 평형노심에장전할 충분한 $^{233}U$ 양을 확보해야 하므로 천이노심의 목표는 평형노심 $^{233}U$의 요구량에 최소한의 기간에 가장 적은 외부주입을 통해 도달하는 것이다. 천이노심에서 임계가 유지되는 AMBIDEXTER-NEC 원자로시스템의 3군 핵종변환 코드인 HELIOS-SQUID-AMBIBURN 체제를 개발하였고 그림 1.에 나타내었다. 이 알고리즘은 각 초기노심 중원소의 미시단면적, 중원소를 제외한 원소들의 거시단면적, 임계도를 만족하는 중성자속 및 외부주입율을 계산하여 SQUID 및 AMBIBURN 입력자료를 제공한다. 또한 일정시간 중원소의 핵종농도, 외부주입율과 중성자속이 일정하다는 가정 하 에 반복수행 하고 SEU-기반과 Pu-기반의 경우에는 각각 핵변환을 거쳐 재순환되는 $^{233}U$$^{239}Pu$의 양을 바로 주입하는 최대재순환 경우와 평형노심 요구 장전량에 이를 때까지 시설 내 저장하는 최소재순환 경우로 상황을 모사하였다. 그림 2 는 각 시나리오별 초기노심에서부터 200FPD까지 단위 용융염 체적당 $^{233}U$의 수밀도 시간변화를 나타낸 것이다. 그림을 보면 50일 이후부터는 수밀도의 변화가 일정한 기울기를 보이고 있고 재처리공정에서 $^{233}Pa$를 분리하는 최소재순환의 경우에는 최대재순환보다 2-3%정도에 지나지않아 그림에서 나타내지않았다. SEU-기반 및 Pu-기반에서 $^{233}U$의 증가율이 각각 2.54E+13, 2.81E+13 #/cc/d 로 Pu 기반이 조금 더 큰 증가율을 나타내고 있지만 평형노심 농도 1.04E+20 #/cc/d 에 도달하기 위해서는 두 경우 모두 매우 긴 시간이 걸릴 것을 예상할 수 있다. 요컨대 250MWth AMBIDEXTER-NEC가 평형노심을 이루기 위해 필요로 하는 $^{233}U$을 생산하는데 제안한 SEU-기반, Pu-기반 시나리오는 천이노심주기기간이 전형적인 원자로 수명 3-40년 보다 매우 큰 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 장전될 $^{233}U$의 확보를 위한 최적옵션은 초기노심부터 ADS와 같은 외부생산시설로부터 전량을 공급 받아 운전하는 것이라 판단된다.

Design and Implementation of a 128-bit Block Cypher Algorithm SEED Using Low-Cost FPGA for Embedded Systems (내장형 시스템을 위한 128-비트 블록 암호화 알고리즘 SEED의 저비용 FPGA를 이용한 설계 및 구현)

  • This paper presents an Implementation of Korean standard 128-bit block cipher SEED for the small (8 or 16-bits) embedded system using a low-cost FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) chip. Due to their limited computing and storage capacities most of the 8-bits/16-bits small embedded systems require a separate and dedicated cryptography processor for data encryption and decryption process which require relatively heavy computation job. So, in order to integrate the SEED with other logic circuit block in a single chip we need to invent a design which minimizes the area demand while maintaining the proper performance. But, the straight-forward mapping of the SEED specification into hardware design results in exceedingly large circuit area for a low-cost FPGA capacity. Therefore, in this paper we present a design which maximize the resource sharing and utilizing the modern FPGA features to reduce the area demand resulting in the successful implementation of the SEED plus interface logic with single low-cost FPGA. We achieved 66% area accupation by our SEED design for the XC2S100 (a Spartan-II series FPGA from Xilinx) and data throughput more than 66Mbps. This Performance is sufficient for the small scale embedded system while achieving tight area requirement.

  • Framework is the set of interrelated classes, constructing reusable design in specific domain or set of abstracted classes, and defines common architecture among applications included in domain. Developers can reuse not only class code but also wide range of knowledge on domain by reusing framework. In this papers, we present COM(Component-Oriented Methodology) for the reuse of framework, and develop construction environment for framework and domain development. That is, domain is analyzed by input of domain knowledge on real world to create software based on component, and hotspot is identified through analyzed information, and redesigned(refactoring) by putting additional information on users and developers. After that, I will create domain framework and application framework depending on domain. In this Component-oriented methodology, information is searched, understood and extracted or composite through component-pattern library storage internally. Then this information is classified into the information on component and pattern respectively, and used as additional information in redesigning. With this, developer can obtain reusability, easiness and portability by constructing infrastructure environment that allow to register, update and delete component through Component Pattern Management System(CPMS) under the development environment which can be easily applied to his own application using multimedia component, in this thesis, CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) environment.

Serum Ferritin as a Risk Factor in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (2형 당뇨병 발생위험인자로서의 혈청 Ferritin의 의의)

  • Purpose : Iron accumulation interferes with hepatic insulin extraction and affects insulin synthesis and secretion. The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation between serum ferritin and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods : We compared the serum ferritin level among 18 patients in an impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) group, 36 in a type 1 diabetes group, eight in a type 2 diabetes group and 29 in a healthy control group. The correlation between serum ferritin levels and sex, body mass indices(BMI), blood pressure(BP), serum fasting sugar level and serum fasting insulin level were also analyzed. Results : The mean log ferritin were $1.33{\pm}0.32$(healthy control group), $1.63{\pm}0.19$(IGT group) and $1.90{\pm}0.30$(type 2 diabetes group). In the IGT group, log ferritin was higher than in the healthy control group(P=0.001). The log ferritin of the type 2 diabetes group was higher than that of the healthy control group(P=0.001). Comparing log ferritin to other factors, log ferritin had a significant positive correlation with body mass indices(P<0.001), systolic blood pressure(P=0.001), and fasting glucose(P=0.001), fasting insulin(P=0.002). Conclusion : Compared to the normal healthy group, serum ferritin concentrations were significantly higher in the IGT group and the type 2 diabetes group. The elevation of serum ferritin concentration may be a risk factor of type 2 diabetes mellitus.

  • This study was performed to review the domestic and international smart farm service model based on the convergence of agriculture and information & communication technology and derived various factors needed to improve the Korean smart greenhouse. Studies on modelling of crop growth environment in domestic smart farms were limited. And it took a lot of time to build research infrastructure. The cloud-based research platform as an alternative is needed. This platform can provide an infrastructure for comprehensive data storage and analysis as it manages the growth model of cloud-based integrated data, growth environment model, actuators control model, and farm management as well as knowledge-based expert systems and farm dashboard. Therefore, the cloud-based research platform can be applied as to quantify the relationships among various factors, such as the growth environment of crops, productivity, and actuators control. In addition, it will enable researchers to analyze quantitatively the growth environment model of crops, plants, and growth by utilizing big data, machine learning, and artificial intelligences.

Effect of parboiling on the physicochemical properties of immature barley kernels (Parboiling처리가 미숙보리곡립의 이화학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Parboiling, a popular technology used to protect rice from nutrient loss during milling and to increase the shelf-life of rice, was applied to barley kernels, and its effect on nutrient retention and chemical composition was evaluated. Before 36 days after ear emergence, barley kernels showed water content higher than 40%, and parboiling without presoaking resulted in at least 43% of gelatinization degree. This implies that soaking, an important step of parboiling, is dispensable for barley at milky stage. Parboiling did make little change in the appearance of the kernel after 31 days from ear emergence. Nonreducing sugars such as sucrose and raffinose remained unchanged while reducing sugars of barley was decreased by parboiling, with exception that maltose increased. Pearling led to decrease in crude protein, fat, fiber and minerals of barley sampled and parboiled on 36th day from ear emergence. Free sugars in the parboiled barley also was reduced with increasing pearling rate. Vitamin $B_1$ content of the parboiled barley was $260\;{\mu}g\;per\;100\;g$ as dry basis at 50% pearling rate, compared to $36\;{\mu}g$ for raw barley at same pearling rate. Thus parboiling appeared to be very effective in the retention of vitamin $B_1$ during pearling.

Applicability test of broad leaf samples stored at the NESB for biomonitoring of airborne pollutants (국가환경시료은행 활엽 시료를 활용한 지역별 대기침적 오염물질 모니터링 활용성 검토)

  • The National Environmental Specimen Bank (NESB) has been collecting broad leave samples to monitor environmental pollution from five different designated sampling areas. In order to ensure the reproducibility and comparability of the results, all the procedures from selecting trees and pooling leaves to make the representative sample are defined in the standard operation procedures(the SOP). The representative samples were subjected to the chemical analyses for some heavy minerals and Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons(PAHs). The uncertainty levels involved in each step of the SOP, that is, the sampling and the chemical analysis, were derived using the Robust ANOVA, which enables the relative comparison among the different levels of pollutants concentrations with confidence. Furthermore, the effect of the varying degrees of precipitation on the pollutants concentration of the leaves was also examined. Overall, the biological difference estimated from the duplicate samples was found to exceed the variation across the site, implying even aerial deposition over site. Samples from Gwanak Mt. showed highest heavy metal concentrations than the other sites. Washing off effect of the pollutants adhering in the form of particles on the leaf surface was found to be affected by the cumulative precipitation.

Snoring Detection using Polyvinylidene Fluoride Vibration Sensors (Polyvinylidene Fluoride 진동센서를 이용한 코골이 검출)

  • Sleep diseases such as snoring and sleep apnea are physically, mentally harmful and results serious health problems. Snoring, known as breathing noise, is caused by coupled oscillation of the airway when the air passes through the trachea, and sleep apnea is caused by upper airway blockage. In order to solve these problems, many attempts have been made to detect the snoring during sleep and alleviate it. In this study, a new sensing system and analysis algorithm were developed in order to detect snoring sounds correctly under various sleep environments. Two polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) vibration sensors were used inside the pillow. The first PVDF sensor detects vibration transmitted through skull caused by snoring. And the second PVDF sensor detects both snoring sounds and ambient noises. The signals of two sensors were acquired through the designed analog circuits, and analyzed for snoring detection. Ten volunteers were participated for the experiment under five different conditions. Data from two PVDF sensors were processed by the established analysis algorithm, and snoring sounds were compared to noises. The results indicated that the energy of snoring is 70% bigger than that of ambient noise, which proves effectiveness of sensing system and analysis algorithm. Further study would be continued for more wide clinical studies with various environment noises. Based on this study, development of anti-snore pillow and sleep monitoring system for comfort sleep could be developed.

Changes in Blood Glucose and Electrolyte During Open Heart Surgery (저체온 개심술시 혈당 및 전해질치의 변화에 관한 연구)

  • This study deals with the changes in the concentrations of blood glucose and electrolytes during open heart surgery. Blood glucose and electrolytes in connection with age, disease and anesthetic period were measured in 25 patients about to undergo heart surgery which were performed between June 1986 and August 1986 in Yeungnam University Hospital. Because glucose solution is commonly used as priming solution, and the priming solution is hyperglycemic and hyperosmolar, glucose level of priming solution in this study was adjusted to 100-200mg% level to minimize hyperglycemic and hyperosmolar effect. The following results were obtained. 1. Glucose level of priming solution before extracorporeal circulation was $151.6{\pm}3.13mg%$. 2. With body cooling, blood glucose level was elevated. As duration of extracorporeal circulation is prolonged, blood glucose level was elevated more, but no difference between age and diseases were observed. On warming, blood glucose level was progressively lowered. 3. Despite the low serum potassium level during by pass, the potassium level was progressively elevated following by-pass, cut the serum potassium level was low compared to control values. Elevated calcium level was maintained during by pass.
