Chemical Components Related with Seed Dormancy and Viviparous Germination in Rice (벼 종실의 휴면 관련 성분과 휴면성 및 수발아성과의 관계)

  • This excperiment was conducted to investigate relation on seed dormancy and vi-viparous germination with sucrose content, fatty acid composition and abscisic acid content of rice seeds. The following results were obtained by this experiment. Sucrose content of brown rice harvested at 20 and 40 days after heading was higher in Japonica and Sare type varieties than in Tongil and Indica type rices. Positive relationship was found be-tween sucrose content of brown rice and viviparous germination rate of rice varieties tested.J aponica and Sare type rice varieties showed low proportion of oleic acid and higher proportion of linoleic acid in brown rice harvested at 20 and 40 days after heading than Tongil and Indica rices tested. Viviparous germination was negatively correlated with the proportion oleic acid and positively with that of linoleic acid. Abscisic acid content in hull of rice seeds stored for 30 days at 25/15$^{\circ}C$ fluctuation temperature condition was decreased more rapidly than 4$^{\circ}C$, and Japonica varieties tested showed lower con-tent of abscisic acid in rice hull than Tongil and Indica varieties used.

Sprouting Characteristics and Herbicidal Responses of Purple Nutsedge (향부자 괴경의 출아특성과 제초제에 대한 반응)

  • To establish an efficient herbicide screening method for purple nutsedge(Cyperus rotundus) control, its sprouting characteristics, tuber production and responses on several herbicides were investigated under greenhouse condition. The tubers stored at $4^{\circ}C$ after sterilization with the diluted prochloraz(Spotac) solution showed higher sprouting than the non-sterilized did. The harvested tubers were not dormant, and the sterilized tubers which stored at low temperature had a sprouting capability of about 80% after 6 months. If the fresh weight of purple nutsedge tubers was decreased to below 48%, they could not sprout. However, the tubers soaked in water and then stored at low temperature could sprout by 88% even 6 months later. Sprouting and initial growth of tuber were much better at $35^{\circ}C$-day/$25^{\circ}C$-night than at 30/$20^{\circ}C$ or 25/$15^{\circ}C$. The half-sected tubers, which were prepared by setting the intact tuber of above 1.2g latitudinally, were shown similar initial growth to the intact but those sected crucifically were not. These results suggest that the half-sected tuber itself can be used as a material on herbicide screening. About 1000 tubers could be harvested when 10 tubers planted in a pot($56{\times}35{\times}16cm$) filled with the artificial soil were cultivated in greenhouse of $35^{\circ}C$-day/$25^{\circ}C$-night for 3 months(April-July, 1993). Chlorimuron, Bentazon and Norflurazon were selected as the standards for the screening because of providing relatively effective control on purple nutsedge in both soil-surface and foliar spray treatment.

Germination Induction of Some Weed Seeds Stored Under the Dry and Low Temperature Condition (건조저온저장(乾燥低溫貯藏)한 몇가지 잡초종자(雜草種子)의 발아유기(發芽誘起))

  • These experiments were conducted to recognize the germination change in relation to storage period, using 25 kinds of field-collected weed seeds stored under the dry and low temperature ($4{\pm}1^{\circ}C$), and to establish a simple germination induction methods in some kinds of them. No or weak dormancy was observed in Lepidium virginicum, Rumex japonicus, Cirsium japonicum var. ussuriense, Aeschnomene indica and Ludwigia prostrate. The germination of Digltaria sanguinalis, Portulaca oleracea, Amaranthus spp., Echinochloa crux-galli, Polygonum persicaria, Cyperus iria, and Aeschynnmene indica was enhanced by $H_2SO_4$ treatment for 20, 2, 2, 50, 40, 3 or 5 minutes, respectively. Favorable germination in Polygonum persicaria and Echinochloa crus-galli was obtained by soaking in water for 25 days and 50 days, respectively. Moisture treatment for 21 days and 14 days caused the enhancement of germination in Cyperus difformis and Aneilema keisak, respectively. Combination of various treatments in Cyperus iria was most effective when the seeds treated with $H_2SO_4$ for 3 minutes incubated in alternating temp. after soaking in 0.2% $KNO_3$, but their effect on Digitaria sanguinnlis was little.

Effect of a Low Temperature-Induced Quiescence on Short Term Storage of an Egg Parasitoid, Trichogramma sp. Nabis 101 (알기생봉(Trichogramma sp. Nabis101)의 저온 발육 휴지와 단기 저장 기술)

  • A commercial egg parasitoid, Trichogramma sp. Nabis101, was released into agricultural cultivating areas in Korea due to its wide host spectrum against insect pests. Moreover, an application technique has been recently developed to enhance its control efficacy by mixture treatment with a microbial control agent. Despite its expansion of commercial availability, any genetic identification on this commercial strain was not determined. Also, to meet inconsistent demands from consumers, the live parasitoids need to be stored without significant loss of their survival and parasitic activity. This study determined nucleotide sequence of internal transcribed spacer (ITS) of the wasp species. The identified ITS sequences indicate that this wasp species is most similar to T brasiliensis. Optimal storage condition of this wasp required young parasitized stage at $10^{\circ}C$. Under these conditions, survival, sex ratio, longevity, and parasitic behavior were not much impaired for 5 weeks.

Selection of Quality Indicator to Predict the Shelf-life of Milk (UHT, LTLT) during Distribution (시유(UHT, LTLT)의 유통 중 품질예측을 위한 품질지표 선정)

  • The changes in pH, titratable acidity, chromaticity, total count, coliform group and organoleptic properties of the whole market milks (UHT, LTLT) that sold currently on the domestic market were stored after their production at 0, 10, 20, 30 and $40^{\circ}C$ to predict their quality during distribution, and examined prior to the analysis on the correlation of their quality properties and organoleptic preference level and discovery of optimal quality indicator. The investigation of correlation between pH, acidity and preference level of milks depending on respective storage temperature showed significant correlation (p<0.01) for the milk stored at 10, 20, 30 and $40^{\circ}C$, and the higher temperature was directly proportional to the higher correlation coefficient. The correlation between total count and preference level for LTLT milk stored at 0, 10, 20, 30 and $40^{\circ}C$ showed high correlation coefficient at every high temperature condition respectively as R=0.81, R=0.91, R=0.96, R=0.90 & R=0.99, and the correlation coefficients were also significant level for the UHT milk irrespective of their storage temperature except $0^{\circ}C$. Accordingly, the changes in total colonies turned out to be suitable to be the quality indicator for the quality prediction of the milk on the distribution.

Study on the Storage of Chestnut (밤 저장(貯藏)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • A mass production of chestnut necessiates the development of economic long-term storage method. The main objective of this study was to confirm the technical aspect of the chestnut storage method which was developed by two year project and to review the method of commercial application. The chestnut used for the experiments were separated in brine $(5.5{\sim}6.0^{\circ}\:B{\acute{a}}ume)$ into matured and unmatured lots and fumigated with $CS_2$ at a 5 $lb/27\;m^3$ level for $25{\sim}30\;hrs.$ The chestnuts were packed in wooden boxes with sawdust (50% moisture) in the ratio of 1 : 1 by volume. The boxes were stored in the cold room $(1{\pm}1^{\circ}C,\;85{\sim}95%\;RH)$ and the cellar ($0{\sim}10^{\circ}C$, controlled only by circulating night cool air). The results obtained were as follows: 1. Fully matured chestnut could be successfully preserved $8{\sim}9\;months$ at a l0% decay level in the cold room and $4{\sim}5\;months$ months in cellar. 2. Immatured chestnuts wire inferior to the matured in storage stability. At the maximum storage period, its storage life was two months shorter. 3. The heat transfer equation of piled chestnuts with sawdust can be suggested as $T_{\infty}-T_0=(T_{\infty}-T_0){\cdot}10^{-t/320}$ and j and $f_h$ values were 1 and 320 min, respectively. 4. The chestnuts in the package of storage unit had longer shelf life than naked chestnut during the retail distribution at ambient temperature.

Package Atmosphere and Quality as Affected by Modified Atmosphere Conditions of Persimmon (Diospyros kaki. cv. Fuyu) Fruits ('부유' 단감의 MA포장 조건에 따른 포장기체조성 및 과실의 품질 변화)

  • Persimmon (Diospyros kaki. cv. Fuyu) fruits were packaged under different conditions, and then stored at $0^{\circ}C$ for 21 weeks. The tried packages were heat-sealed bag of one fruit, heat-sealed bag of five fruits, and tie-sealed bag of five fruits, which used films of three different thickness (0.03 ㎜, 0.05 ㎜ and 0.06 ㎜). Throughout the storage, package free volume, package atmosphere and quality were measured. Package free volume decreased with time with higher rate for heat-sealed bags, in which close contact between fruit and the film was eventually reached in longer storage. However, tie-sealed bags maintained the levels of stabilized free volume. The rate of free volume decrease was faster with thinner film and larger bag size for the packs sealed by the same method. Package atmosphere covered $O_2$ concentration of $1.1{\sim}17.1%$ and $CO_2$ concentration of $1.1{\sim}8.3%$, $O_2$ concentration decreased during storage, whereas $CO_2$ increased. Thinner film package created the internal atmosphere of higher $O_2$ and lower $CO_2$ concentrations. Tie-sealed bags of 5 fruits in the films of 0.05 mm and 0.06 mm thickness maintained the equilibrated package atmosphere of $1.1{\sim}3.0%\;O_2$ and $4.0{\sim}5.5%\;CO_2$, which preserved the fruits best in terms of firmness and less physiological changes of flesh browning and peel browning. At five fruit heat-sealed bag in the films of 0.06 mm thickness with $CO_2\;8.3%$, flesh browning occurred at a high rate, whereas all treatments in the film of 0.03 mm thickness with high $O_2$ and relatively low $CO_2$ contents, flesh and peel browning rates were high.

  • 물 수요예측을 실시함에 있어서 사회 경제의 장래동향과 도시의 특성 및 발전 동향을 반영하여 수행하여야 한다. 그러나 지금까지의 관행으로는 수도계획에서 사용할 수 있는 실사용량에 대한 조사와 통계가 이루어지지 않고 있다. 실제 현장에서 얻은 자료를 토대로 하여 수도계획 및 설계에 사용할 수 있는 신뢰성 있는 설계인자의 도출이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 급수지역의 각 조사 가정의 물 사용량을 실측 조사하여 얻어진 자료를 토대로 하여 물 수요 구조의 변화를 파악할 수 있는 수단의 하나로 가정의 수돗물 사용특성과 경제적 요인에 따른 가정용수의 사용특성 경향을 파악하고자 하였다. 가정에서 사용된 용수량의 조건별 경향성을 분석하기 위하여 한국수자원공사에서 2002년부터 2006년까지 3년여에 걸쳐 표본 집단이 되는 전국 140개 가구에 유량계를 설치하여 유량 자료를 획득하였고, 설문조사를 실시하여 각 가정의 물 사용 특성인자들을 조사하였다. 이 자료를 대상으로 비교적 자료의 신뢰성을 높이기 위한 자료의 선별과정을 거쳤다. 이렇게 선별된 자료들을 경향성 분석에 쓰이는 Mann-Kendall test와 Spearman's Rho test를 이용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과를 바탕으로 가정 용수 소비패턴의 증가 감소에 영향을 끼치는 인자들을 추출하였다. 실측자료를 분석을 통하여 나타난 결과들을 바탕으로 용수 수요처의 조건별 특성을 분석하고, 이를 활용한 생활용수 예측모형을 개발함으로써 합리적인 수요예측에 의한 용수수요의 과다예측 우려를 해소하고, 경제적 수도시설계획을 수립하는 등 과학적 물 수요관리 정책 수립을 위한 의사결정도구가 제공될 수 있다.c}$C의 저온에서 저장한 감자는 $20^{\circ}$C에서 저장한 감자보다 발아의 지연과 함께 낮은 PGA증가율을 보였다.다 높았으며, 전반적인 선호도의 경우 G3(1.5%)를 가장 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 백년초 분말 첨가 도토리묵의 경우 색상은 0.5% 첨가한 O1이 가장 높은 값을 나타냈으며, 외관은 1.5% 첨가한 O3가 가장 높은 값을 보였다. 향미와 신맛의 경우는 백년초 분말의 첨가량이 증가됨에 따라서 유의적으로 증가했다(p<0.001). 씹힘성, 탄력성, 견고성의 경우는 대조군이 가장 높았으며, 백년초 분말 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 유의적으로 낮아졌다(p<0.001), 떫은맛의 경우는 백년초 분말에 의한 신맛의 영향으로 1% 백년초 분말이 첨가된 O2 가장 높게 나타났다. 전반적인 선호도는 0.5% 백년초 분말이 첨가된 O1이 가장 높게 나타났다. 따라서 녹차와 백년초의 기능성을 살린 도토리묵을 실용화시키는 효과적인 배합비는 녹차 분말 1.5% 첨가와 백년초 분말 첨가 0.5%가 바람직한 것으로 보이며 백년초 분말은 1%까지도 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 그러므로 기능성 식품 소재로써 도토리묵에 녹차와 백년초 분말을 첨가하는 것은 충분히 활용할만한 가치가 있다고 사료된다.론적으로, 비육돈 사료 내 3.32%의 호맥 사일리지의 혼합급여는 혈액 내 코티졸 함량, 도체육의 명도와 황색도, 지방산 조성 및 영양소 소화율에 영향을 미치는 것으로 사료되나 이에 대한 보다 많은 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.니티와 공원과의 관계로 공원 설계와 관리에 있어서 영국에서는 커뮤니티가 직접 고객(client)으로서 역

Improvement of the Functional Properties of Surimi Gel Using Fish Bone (어류뼈를 이용한 수산연제품의 기능성 개선)

  • As a part of investigation for quality improvement of surimi gel from fish with a red muscle by addition of calcium-based powder from fish bone, we investigated the processing condition of calcium-fortified mackerel surumi gel and its quality stability during storage at $5^{\circ}C$. Judging from the results of the soluble calcium content and jelly strength, the reasonable addition concentration of calcium-based powder from Alaska pollack bone for improvement of functional properties in surimi gel was revealed 0.9% on the weight basis of the chopped mackerel meat. The soluble calcium content of the calcium-fortified surimi gel (105.0 mg/100 g) was more than that of the ordinary surumi gel (2.9 mg/100 g). During cold storage of calcium-fortified surumi gel, the moisture contents, amino acid compositions, soluble calcium and phosphorus contents were little changed, the pH, volatile basic nitrogen contents, histamine contents, peroxide values and brown pigment formation were slightly increased and viable cell counts and coliform groups were not detected. The calcium-fortified surimi gel was superior in the lysine and calcium contents, EPA and DHA compositions to the ordinary surumi gel. Judging from the results, it was suggested that calcium-fortified surumi gel was nutritive, functional and safety foods.

Regulation of Acid Contents in Kiwifruit Irradiated by Various Wavelength of Light Emitting Diode during Postharvest Storage (다양한 파장의 LED 조사를 통한 참다래 과실의 산 함량 조절)

  • The physiological roles of various wavelength of light emitting diode (LED) on ‘Hayward’ kiwifruit experiencing after-ripening were investigated. Various wavelengths from LED light source were irradiated on kiwifruits kept in plastic bags or under open air at $25^{\circ}C$. During two weeks of storage, firmness of Hayward kiwifruits was decreased by $25^{\circ}C$ treatment than by $4^{\circ}C$ treatment. In the $25^{\circ}C$ storage condition, the firmness of kiwifruits was decreased by the treatment of 380 nm UV and 470nm white LED light source. Sweetness of kiwifruits treated with 380 nm UV LED and dark condition at $25^{\circ}C$ increased higher than $15^{\circ}$Brix. The acidity of kiwifruits under open air was decreased 52% by incubating at $25^{\circ}C$ with 660 nm red LED treatment. The acidity of kiwifruits in plastic bags was decreased 52.6, 55.6, 52.8% by the treatment of 440 nm blue, 470 nm white and 660 nm red LED light source, respectively, compared to that of kiwifruits incubated in darkness at $25^{\circ}C$. Decreased acidity irradiated by 660 nm red LED light source can be applied for regulating periods of the kiwifruit after-ripening process. LED light sources emit very narrow wavelength with a power-saving mode, therefore, the usage of these LED light source for regulating the after-ripening process can be classified as a clean biotechnology producing safe and environment-friendly kiwifruits.
