Purpose: The purpose of this study is to develop a deep learning-based personal protective equipment detection model for disaster prevention at construction sites, and to apply it to actual construction sites and to analyze the results. Method: In the method of conducting this study, the dataset on the real environment was constructed and the developed personal protective equipment(PPE) detection model was applied. The PPE detection model mainly consists of worker detection and PPE classification model.The worker detection model uses a deep learning-based algorithm to build a dataset obtained from the actual field to learn and detect workers, and the PPE classification model applies the PPE detection algorithm learned from the worker detection area extracted from the work detection model. For verification of the proposed model, experimental results were derived from data obtained from three construction sites. Results: The application of the PPE recognition model to construction site brings up the problems related to mis-recognition and non-recognition. Conclusions: The analysis outcomes were produced to apply the object recognition technology to a construction site, and the need for follow-up research was suggested through representative cases of worker recognition and non-recognition, and mis-recognition of personal protective equipment.
In modern society, human and social damages caused by natural disasters and frequent disaster accidents have been increased year by year. Prompt access to dangerous disaster sites that are inaccessible or inaccessible using state-of-the-art Earth observation equipment such as satellites, drones, and survey robots, and timely collection and analysis of meaningful disaster information. It can play an important role in protecting people's property and life throughout the entire disaster management cycle, such as responding to disaster sites and establishing mid-to long-term recovery plans. This special issue introduces the National Disaster Management Research Institute (NDMI)'s disaster management technology that utilizes various Earth observation platforms, such as mobile survey vehicles equipped with close-range disaster site survey sensors, drones, and survey robots, as well as satellite technology, which is a tool of remote earth observation. Major research achievements include detection of damage from water disasters using Google Earth Engine, mid- and long-term time series observation, detection of reservoir water bodies using Sentinel-1 Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images and artificial intelligence, analysis of resident movement patterns in case of forest fire disasters, and data analysis of disaster safety research. Efficient integrated management and utilization plan research results are summarized. In addition, research results on scientific investigation activities on the causes of disasters using drones and survey robots during the investigation of inaccessible and dangerous disaster sites were described.
Effects of substrate bed interior environments on mushroom qualities were investigated in oyster mushroom cultivation facilities in which either Reversible Air-Circulation Fans (RACF) blowing air in two directions (upwards and downwards) or customary Convection Fans (CF) with air blowing only upwards were operated throughout the cultivation period. Two days before harvest, the deviation ranges of the bed interior temperature and relative humidity in the facility using RACF were in the ranges of 1.0-1.3℃ and 7.8-9.0% in the first growing cycle, and within 0.7-1.1℃ and 10.0-11.4% in the second cycle. In the facility using CF, the ranges of variation in the indoor environment parameters (5.8-6.4℃ and 21.3-23.1% in the first growing cycle, and 3.4-5.7℃ and 14.6-18.3% in the second growing cycle) were much enlarged compared to those associated with RACF. These results strongly indicate that RACF significantly enhances air uniformity. Some mushroom qualities differed between growing cycles. For instance RACF in the first cycle gave somewhat better qualities than CF, but some qualities, like pileus diameter and stipe length, were slightly lower than those described for CF in the second cycle when the cultivation substrate weakened. The observation that some qualities worsened under RACF conditions, despite better air uniformity during the growing cycle, revealed the possibility that downward wind may exert a non-negligible negative effect on mushroom growth. Therefore in the future, making wind measurements on the interior and exterior of substrate beds is necessary to obtain insights into their influences on mushroom qualities. The RACF operation manual needs to be edited to convey this necessity.
The dispatch law has a negative impact on safety management at construction sites as the command and command relationship to safety assistants of the original contractor are applied to the dispatch law. Purpose: The purpose is to study the importance and impact of safety management according to the dispatch law, and to propose a direction for safety management so that safety assistants can actively and proactively prevent accidents. In this study, we used AHP analysis techniques for experts to achieve the final goal and verified the suitability through logistic regression. Method: AHP analysis technique is used for experts and workers and logistic regression analysis is conducted. Result: The result of analyzing scenario data where the dispatch method can be applied showed the importance in the order of education (SkillUp education), management (work-time management) and direct instructions (feedback instruction). In logistic regression analysis, feedback is the factor that affects direct instruction, and in education management, the ratio of education management is 3.42 times lower than that of other groups when only the team leader of the company gives work instructions. Conclusion: The management of feedback and education is more important than anything else within the range in which the dispatch method is not applied, and the expansion of non-face-to-face online education is judged to avoid the violation of dispatch method because the expansion of non-face-to-face online education due to covid 19 recently has brought more various target for safety education.

Objectives: 'Confined space' was only defined in the Safety and Health Regulations as a place where oxygen deficiency and hydrogen sulfide must be dealt with at the time of the initial enactment (1982). The danger of fire and explosion were added in 2003. We will compare and review the regulations related to confined space work under the current safety and health rules alongside regulations in other countries and prepare a plan to improve the system through enhanced clarity and execution. Methods: In a comparison of systems for the prevention of suffocation in confined spaces in major countries (Germany, United States, Japan) different concepts of the definition of confined spaces in different countries apparently due to differences in each country's legal implementation system, accident analysis methods, the status of safety and health implementation in workplaces, the precautions against actual confined space work, and the definition of confined spaces were found to be not much different between Korea and the other foreign countries. Results: In the case of Germany and the United States, a confined space is defined as a contextual concept rather than a place, so more careful attention is needed from operators or enclosed space managers as it is often necessary to judge the actual workplace. In the case of Korea and Japan, the interior of the place is mainly defined as a place, especially in the case of Japan, which concentrates on oxygen deficiency and hydrogen sulfide poisoning. Conclusions: For measures to improve regulations on the prevention of suffocation accidents in Korea, I would like to propose three major measures to improve the system in the rules on domestic industrial safety and health standards. It is necessary to prepare and provide a guide to ensure that the 18 types of confined spaces currently defined as confined spaces are clearly understood by field management supervisors or workers.

With the recent growing importance over safety management the need for advanced and technical approaches for on-site safety inspection methods has increased. Railway construction is subject to its own particular set of temporal and spatial challenges due to its unique facilities and equipment. This study aimed to investigate the field characteristics of railway infrastructure and improve the conventional field safety management methods by identifying the most appropriate features of AR technology. Group interviews and surveys were conducted with field safety experts to derive the major problems and inspection needs. Subsequently, various features of AR, such as BIM model projection, and remote conferencing, were investigated to determine their applicability to address safety issues. As a result, four problems in the current safety management process, such as 'lack of time due to the conventional inspection method and inspection of areas that are difficult to access', and three major inspection types, such as 'observance of work procedures, status of installation, adequate dimensional spacing', were identified to be improved when adopting AR based techniques. Furthermore, AR technology utilizing plans to solve safety inspection problems and effectively manage major inspection types were proposed, and a follow up survey was conducted with the same field safety experts to derive the priority of technology development.

Since assembled temporary equipment is widely used for construction work that should be carried out before this construction begins, it is essential to secure quality during assembly and prevent safety accidents caused by assembled temporary equipment after installation. However, it was investigated that most construction site managers are not aware of its importance, such as recognizing the quality management of assembled temporary equipment as a task of managing temporary structures that are dismantled after installation for this construction. The quality management work of assembled temporary equipment at the construction site is carried out in different ways for each construction site because there is no formalized procedure and the subject of performing. In addition, it is analyzed that the manager of the general construction company inspects and reflects the parts that need to be inspected without evidence, so transparency is not guaranteed and the result leads to a serious disaster. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to establish a document preparation-oriented system that provides systematic quality evaluation and management procedures for securing the quality of assembled temporary equipment, develops a checklist for quality evaluation and management, and supports history management on the web.
The real-name safety management system is to indicate "safety" after inspection by construction personnel before workers use it for the purpose of preventing safety accidents caused by unsafe conditions in temporary facilities and temporary constructions installed at construction sites. Purpose: By implementing the real-name system for safety management at construction sites, the objective is to respond to the "Severe Accident Punishment Act" and to improve the level of safety management at the same time. Method: In this study, a hierarchical analysis model was produced through previous studies of actual conditions such as types of safety incidents and causality at construction sites. The AHP model was used to calculate integrated weights and rankings with a pairwise comparison questionnaire for experts. Conclusion: As a result of the analysis of the upper classes, construction machinery was evaluated the highest, and real-name management system was evaluated the lowest. As a result of the lower-level analysis, it was considered that opening doors for safety facility management, tower cranes for construction equipment, management under the "Occupational Safety and Health Act" under the real-name management system, and CEO duties for safety management organizations were the most important.
There are various items in the safety and health standards of the manufacturing industry, but they can be divided into work-related diseases and musculoskeletal diseases according to the standards for sickness and accident victims. Musculoskeletal diseases occur frequently in manufacturing and can lead to a decrease in labor productivity and a weakening of competitiveness in manufacturing. In this paper, to detect the musculoskeletal harmful factors of manufacturing workers, we defined the musculoskeletal load work factor analysis, harmful load working postures, and key points matching, and constructed data for Artificial Intelligence(AI) learning. To check the effectiveness of the suggested dataset, AI algorithms such as YOLO, Lite-HRNet, and EfficientNet were used to train and verify. Our experimental results the human detection accuracy is 99%, the key points matching accuracy of the detected person is @AP0.5 88%, and the accuracy of working postures evaluation by integrating the inferred matching positions is LEGS 72.2%, NECT 85.7%, TRUNK 81.9%, UPPERARM 79.8%, and LOWERARM 92.7%, and considered the necessity for research that can prevent deep learning-based musculoskeletal diseases.
Societal value of the benefits forests provide has grown significantly, given their pivotal role in mitigating climate change and fostering the shift toward a carbon-neutral society. Due to the economic and public value of forests, which extends far beyond landowners and foresters, the forestry sector mutually interacts with society as a whole. Thus, understanding public perceptions and preferences concerning forests and forest policies from the societal viewpoint is vital for shaping future forest policy decisions. This research delved into evolving perceptions over the past 32 years, using a time-series analysis of data gathered from the 'Public awareness survey on forests'. This survey, conducted seven times between 1991 and 2023 by opinion poll agents, provides insights into changing sentiments. The findings reveal a notable increase in public satisfaction with overall forest policies. Specifically, positive sentiments were observed regarding forest rehabilitation, forest trails, education initiatives, and the establishment and functioning of forest recreation facilities. Conversely, the study highlights areas where public satisfaction remained relatively low, notably in matters concerning the use and conversion of mountainous regions, forest disaster prevention, and international forest cooperation. Additionally, the respondents emphasized the need for heightened attention to forest management, the development of forest roads, and increased efforts in overseas afforestation compared to current initiatives.
