  • In this study, Numerical simulations were performed to analyze the characteristics of fire driven smoke flow for different location of fire source in the deeply underground subway station with using FDS code. The fire driven smoke-flow which was simulated by using Parallel Computational Method for fast calculation and LES for turbulence model. In this research, the fire location to obstruct a suitable egress from the fire disaster were discussed.

  • 스테레오 정합은 촬영된 스테레오 영상 속 화소들의 대응점을 탐색한 후 대응점 사이의 변위차를 계산하여 깊이정보를 예측한다. 스테레오 정합에서 변위값을 계산하기 위해서는 스테레오 영상간의 대응점 탐색이 우선적으로 수행되어야 한다. 스테레오 영상의 변위값 범위를 모르는 경우 동일한 탐색선상에 있는 모든 화소들의 유사도를 비교한 후 최적의 대응점을 선택한다. 반면에, 변위값 범위가 제공되는 실험 영상으로 스테레오 정합을 할 경우 정해진 후보 화소들에 대해서만 대응점 탐색을 수행한다. 많은 스테레오 정합 논문들이 실험의 효율성을 위해 변위값 범위 정보가 제공되는 실험 영상으로 스테레오 정합을 수행한다. 하지만 실제 스테레오 정합 환경에서는 이와 같은 정보를 얻기가 힘들다. 이러한 문제점을 극복하기 위해 본 논문에서는 움직임 예측 및 주변화소의 변위정보를 이용한 고속 스테레오 정합 방법을 제안한다.

Indoor Ventilation Efficiency Depending on Diffuser Inlet Angle (급기구 유입각도에 따른 실내 환기효율)

  • In this study, numerical simulation has been conducted to investigate dispersion of a pollutant released from a new furniture, a kind of Sick Building Syndrome (SBS). A sofa which generates formaldehyde is implemented by using an immersed boundary method. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) is employed to obtain time-dependent velocity and concentration fields. It is shown that the ventilation efficiency in this room can be improved by changing inlet angle of diffuser, even though other conditions still remain unchanged. Both active diffusion near a sofa and air flow pattern are important parameters to enhance the ventilation efficiency.

  • In this study, Fire Dynamic Simulator (FDS) has been improved with the implementation of marker particles. Convectional FDS is able to implement only two curved geometries, namely, circular cylinders and spheres. The introduction of marker particles made it possible to implement arbitrarily curved objects. Moreover, an algorithm that extracts the marker particle information from a model designed by AutoCAD was developed. With the present implementation, applicability of FDS is greatly enhanced, beneficial to both academia and industry.

  • HEVC의 화면내 예측 부호화는 예측 모드를 최대 35개까지 확장함으로써 기존H.264/AVC에 비해서 향상된 부호화 효율을 갖는다. 반면 화면내 부호화의 복잡도 또한 크게 증가하여 복잡도 감소를 위한 고속 부호화 기법이 요구된다. HEVC의 차조모델인 HM에서는 화면내 부호화 고속화를 위해 RMD(Rough Mode Decision) 과정을 통하여 후보 모드를 결정하고 선택된 후보 모드에서 초종 예측 모드를 결정한다. 본 논문에서는 화면내 부호화의 복잡도 감소를 위하여 고속 화면내 예측 모드 결정 기법을 제시한다. 본 기법은 후보 모드를 결정하기 위한 RMD 과정에서의 탐색 모드 수와후보 모드로부터 최종 모드를 결정하기 위한 탐색 모드 수를 제한하는 방법을 결합하여 모드 결정을 위한 복잡도를 감소한다. 본 제안 기법은 실험결과 HM 12.0대비 1.0%의 비트 증가로 13.19%의 복잡도를 감소시킬 수 있었다.

A Study on Analysis of Passenger Safety in Railroad Tunnel Fire - Using Simulation - (시뮬레이션을 이용한 철도터널 화재 사고의 승객 안전도 분석)

  • In this paper, the methodology to predict the number of deaths and possible fire propagation scenarios will be described in case of fire on a train in a tunnel. We use a probabilistic analysis method for the evaluation of possibility for each scenario and the deaths tolls are calculated with the help of the passenger evacuation simulation program. The resulting safety of passengers is displayed on a F/N graph, which could be used in part as a guideline to predict the safety level of the tunnel in fire.

  • The experiments for aerodynamic characteristics on railway acoustic screen are performed using 1/61 scale-down mock-up facility. The train model for the experiment is high speed train (KTX) and the tested speed is about 300km/h. The tested train length is about 61cm which is corresponding to two units of train. The strength of pressure wave is measured using piezo typed pressure sensor. The measured pressure is compared with field test data and UIC 779-1 values.

  • The Korea Railroad Research Institute developed a fire control system for coaches using water mist. The fire control technology using water mist is used in the fire control system embedded in coaches developed through research. Such environment-friendly, automatic fire-extinguishing device is also economical because the amount used is significantly less than that of the existing sprinkler system. The paper introduces the developed fire control system and fire control performance tests using such system.

  • The free flow of fine bubbles generated by electrolysis and smoke flow in a space enclosed by fire were recently found to show the same tendency thus leading to the introduction of a research technique. The research experimentally models smoke diffusion and flow in parallel and slanted tunnels using the fine hydrogen bubbles generated by electrolysis in a water tank. Visualization laser with wavelength of 532nm and output power of 1000mW is used to visualize effectively the cross section of fine hydrogen bubble flows generated in a model tunnel.

  • Recently, a lot of newsstands and mini station-store are operated as a store at the platform of subway. But the papers and magazines which are main articles for sale could be as the source of fire ignitable because those kind of easy flammable. Therefore the newsstands could be the target for fire. In this paper, numerical fire simulations for the News-stand were conducted to develop the news-stand fire simulation methodology for fire safety.
