A Study on the Prediction of Traffic Volume on Highway by the Reference Day of Archived Data (이력자료 참조일수에 따른 고속도로 교통량 예측에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: In Korea, traffic information is collected in real time as part of Intelligent Transportation System to enhance efficiency of road operation. However, traffic information based on real-time data is different from the traffic situation the driver will experience. Method: In this study, forecasts were made for future highway traffic by day and time period by adjusting the Archived data reference days to 3, 5 and 10 days based on existing traffic Archived data. Results: Fewer days of reference in the past showed smaller errors. The prediction of Monday based on five past histories showed greater errors than the 10 past histories, as the traffic flow on the sixth Monday of 2016 was somewhat different from the usual holiday. Conclution: This study shows that less of the reference days of the past history when estimating traffic volume, the more accurate the data of the traffic history of the event can be used on special days.

  • Short-term forecasting of fish catch is of practical importance in fisheries management. Ecosystem models and multi-species models as well as traditional single-species models fall short of predicting power needed for practical management of fisheries resources due to the lack of sufficient data or information for the required parameters. Univariate time series analysis, on the other hand, extracts the information on the stochastic variability from the time series itself and makes estimates of the future stochastic variability. Therefore, it can be used for short-term forecasting with minimum data requirements. ARIMA time series modeling has been applied to the monthly Korean catches of hairtail (Trichiurus lepturus) for $1971{\sim}1988$. Forecasts of hairtail catch were made and compared with the actual catch data from $1989{\sim}1990$ which were not included in the parameter estimation. The results showed a good agreement (r=0.938) between the forecasts and the actual catches with a mean rotative error of $59.5\%$

Development of Urban Flood Warning System Using Regression Analysis (회귀분석에 의한 도시홍수 예보시스템의 개발)

  • A simple web-based flood forecasting system using data from stage and rainfall monitoring stations was developed to solve the difficulty that real-time forecasting model could not get the reliabilities because of assumption of future rainfall duration and intensity. The regression model in this research could forecast future water level of maximum 2 hours after using data from stage and rainfall monitoring stations in Daejeon area. Real time stage and rainfall data were transformed from web-sites of Geum River Flood Control Office & Han River Flood Control Office based MS-Excel 2007. It showed stable forecasts by its maximum standard deviation of 5 cm, means of 1~4 cm and most of improved coefficient of determinations were over 0.95. It showed also more researches about the stationarity of watershed and time-series approach are necessary.

  • In Korea, as the mortality rate improves in a shorter period of time than in developed countries, it is important to consider the selection of the time series as well as the model selection in the mortality projection. Therefore, this study proposed a method using the multiple regression model in respect to the selection of the time series period. In addition, we investigate the problems that arise when various time series are used based on the Lee-Carter (LC) model, the kinds of LC model along with Lee-Miller (LM) and Booth-Maindonald-Smith (BMS), and the non-parametric model such as functional data model (FDM) and Coherent FDM, and examine differences in the age-specific mortality rate and life expectancy projection. Based on the analysis results, the age-specific mortality rate and predicted life expectancy of men and women are calculated for the year 2030 for each model. We also compare the mortality rate and life expectancy of the next generation provided by Korean Statistical Information Service (KOSIS).

  • 정부는 1999년 제정된 연안관리법에 따라 2000년부터 시행 중인 '연안정비계획' 등을 통하여 연안 침식 대응사업을 지원하고 있다. 그러나 연안의 개발은 지속적으로 일어나고 있으며 그 중 동해항 3단계 북방파제 축조공사가 내년 3월 중으로 착공할 것으로 예상된다. 동해항 3단계 개발사업은 동해항을 환동해권 물류 중심 거점 항만으로 육성하기 위해, 오는 2020년까지 대규모 항만개발과 방파제 등이 축조될 예정이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 동해항 3단계 개발사업의 추진에 따른 인근해변의 해안침식 저감대책 방안으로 해안선 및 수심 변화를 예측하고자 한다. 동해항 인근의 추암 해수욕장부터 삼척 해수욕장까지 대상지역 N-line 모델 적용 및 Case분석을 실시한다. 해안선 변화는 Polar coordinate에서 개발된 One-line 모델에 회절 효과를 반영하고 해빈 경사와 쇄파고에 따라 횡단 방향으로 발생하는 표사로 인한 추가적인 해안선 변화 효과를 반영하여 입사파고 변동에 따른 단기적인 해안선 변화의 변동 폭을 제공한다. 연평균 입사 파고에 따라 형성되는 연안방향 표사로부터 해안선이 변동하며 이 해안선을 기준으로 연평균 파고에 따른 전진 폭과 최고 파고에 따른 침식 폭을 제시한다. 동해항 개발 전 변화 예측 모델링과 동해항 개발 후 변화 예측 모델링을 통해 개발에 따른 장래 해안선의 변화 예측 모델링 결과 분석 및 검토를 실시, 동해항 인근 지역에 적합한 해안선 유지관리 방법 결정 및 제안을 하는데 도움을 줄 것이라 기대된다.

A comparative study of stochastic mortality models considering cohort effects (코호트 효과를 고려한 확률적 사망률 예측 모형의 비교 연구)

  • Over the past 50 years, explorative research on the nation's mortality decline patterns has showed a decrease in age-specific mortality rates in all age groups, but there were different improvement patterns in specific mortality rates depending on ages and periods. Greater distinct improvement was observed in mortality rates among women than men, and there was a noticeable improvement in mortality rates in certain groups especially in the more recent decades, revealing a structural change in the overall trends regarding death periods. In this paper, we compare various stochastic mortality models considering cohort effects for mortality projection using Korean female mortality data and further explore the uncertainty related to projection. It also created age-specific mortality rates and life expectancy for women until 2067 based on the results of the analysis, and compared them with future age-specific mortality rates and life expectancy provided by the national statistical office (KOISIS). The best optimal model could vary depending on data usage periods. however, considering the overall fit and predictability, the PLAT model would be regarded to have appropriate predictability in terms of the mortality rates of women in South Korea.

  • This study proposes the explanatory indices of urban traffic for the purpose of solving the ambiguity of selection of the explanatory variables, which always raises problems in case of the travel-demand forecasting in the urban transportation planning, and develops optimal urban traffic generation models. The multiple regression models for objective traffic generation are developed by using the proposed explanatory inidces. Objective variables that can be explained by one explanatory variable are modified into simple regression type (Y=bX) in order to ensure the nonnegativity of traffic generation. Similarities are noted in the generaton characteristics of generated traffic from homogeneous land-use activity. Objective variables that can not be explained by multiple variable, such as trip attraction of school and trip generation of social-recreation, are classified by the characteristics of each zone. And traffic generation forecasting models are built as homogeneous zone group, the validity of each model being tested by a statistical method. It is desired that the forecasting precision is in improved by easy and simple method. Accordingly, trip generation rates are calculated from each land-use activity, and trip generation rates for practical application are proposed by considering their stability.

Estimation of Shared Bicycle Demand Using the SARIMAX Model: Focusing on the COVID-19 Impact of Seoul (SARIMAX 모형을 이용한 공공자전거 수요추정과 평가: 서울시의 COVID-19 영향을 중심으로)

  • This study analyzed how external variables, such as the supply policy of shared bicycles and the spread of infectious diseases, affect the demand for shared bicycle use in the COVID-19 era. In addition, this paper presents a methodology for more accurate predictions. The Seasonal Auto-Regulatory Integrated Moving Average with Exogenous stressors methodology was applied to capture the effects of exogenous variables on existing time series models. The exogenous variables that affected the future demand for shared bicycles, such as COVID-19 and the supply of public bicycles, were statistically significant. As a result, from the supply volume and COVID-19 outbreak according to the scenario, it was estimated that approximately 46,000 shared bicycles would be supplied by 2022, and the COVID-19 cases would continue to be at the current level. In addition, approximately 32 million and 45 million units per year will be needed in 2021 and 2024, respectively.

  • 서해안 중부 아산만 안쪽에 위치하는 평택·당진항에서 장래 개발 예정인 면적 6.9km2의 내항2공구 수역은 내항2공구 외곽호안 - 내항가호안 - 내항2공구 중앙 분리호안으로 둘러싸여 있으며, 투수성 제체인 내항가호안 사석 공극을 통하여 해수가 유통되어 조석 현상이 나타나고 있다. 2020년 8~9월의 2개월간 내항2공구 외곽호안 내·외측에서 조석 관측 결과, 2공구 수역의 최대 조차는 1.97m로서 외측 해역 최대 조차 9.79m의 20.1%이고 내·외측의 순간 수위차는 최대 5.82m에 달한다. 내항가호안은 내항2공구 개발이 거의 완료되는 시기까지 유지될 예정이므로 2공구 개발에 따른 내측 조차와 내·외측 수위차의 변화를 정확하게 예측하는 것은 내항가호안 제체 안전에 매우 중요하다. 이 연구의 목적은 장래 개발단계별 변화 예측에 앞서, 관측이 이루어진 2개월간의 실시간 내측 조석과 내·외측 수위차 시계열을 Delft3D-Flow를 이용하여 기 구축된 아산만 수치모델에서 재현하는 것이다. 내항가호안 제체 통과 유량은 내·외측 수위차에 비례하는 것으로 가정하고, 수위차 - 유량 관계식을 도출하였다. 수위차는 평택 조위관측소와 내항2공구 수역의 1분 간격 관측 조위로부터 산출하였고, 제체 통과 유량은 내측 조위(z, 평택항 DL 기준, m) - 수용적(V, 106m3) 관계식으로 계산하였다. 내측 조위 - 수용적 관계식은 수심측량 성과로부터 V = 0.28z2 + 3.73z + 2.96 (r2=1.00)으로 얻어졌다. 다양한 함수식의 적합성을 검토한 결과, 다음과 같은 수위차(𝚫z, m) - 제체 통과 유량(Q, m3/s) 관계식을 도출하였다. [내항가호안 내측으로 유입시] $Q_{IN}=\{\begin{array}{lll}{\exp}\{0.54\;{\ln}({\Delta}z)+6.00\}&&\text{; }{\Delta}z{\leq}1.8\\219.82{\Delta}z+158.56&&\text{; }{\Delta}z>1.8\end{array}\;\;(r^2=0.86)$ [내항가호안 외측으로 유출시] QOUT = -exp{0.44 ln(-𝚫z) + 5.70} (r2=0.59) 매 𝚫t 마다 제체 통과 유량을 계산하는 알고리즘을 Delft3D 소스 코드에 추가하고, 8개 분조 합성조석(M2, S2, K1, O1, N2, K2, P1, Q1)을 외력조건으로 설정하여 2개월간 조석 수치모델링을 수행하였다. 내항2공구 수역의 매 시별 조위 관측치와 모델치를 비교한 결과, 오차는 -0.37~0.37m의 범위이고, 오차 평균은 0.02m, 절대오차 평균은 0.08m로 상당히 정확하게 실시간 조위 변동을 모의하였다. 보정·검정된 이 모델을 이용하여 향후 내항2공구 개발에 따른 내측 조석과 내·외측 수위차 변화에 대한 예측모의를 진행할 예정이다.

A Study on the Economic Analysis of Chestnut Prices and Production Forecasting (밤 가격(價格)의 경제분석(經濟分析) 및 생산예측(生産豫測)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • The cyclical trend and seasonal variations of chestnut prices have been analyzed to find out the chestnut price fluctuation in Korea during 1966-1985. The optimum prices, production, and plantation area for the next twenty five years (1986-2010) have been forcasted by the derived equation models. The results of study can be summarized as follows: 1. The chestnut prices were increased by 14.67 percent per annum during 1966-1972, an d decreased by 9.24 percent during 1973-1985, due to the excessive production of chestnut. 2. The chestnut prices showed the lowest price during the harvesting season, especially in October (89.1), and highest in July (109.1). Seasonal fluctuation of chestnut prices were 0.0837 (C.V value) during 1966-1975, and 0.0706 during 1976-1985. Such a seasonal fluctuation of chestnut prices tends to be even with the passage of time. 3. The equation model of predicted chestnut prices was derived as follows : PR=117788.088 - 7.60 TC/Pop + 6.585 GNP/Pop The chestnut prices will be the lowest in 1988, but increased rapidly thereafter. 4. The equation model of optimum chestnut production was derived as follows : $${\ell}n\;PD/Pop=-8.5147-0.8267{\ell}n\;PR+3.3063{\ell}n\;GNP/Pop$$ To maintain optimum chestnut prices according to this model, chestnut production should be 133,000 ton for 1988, and 1,899,000 ton for 2010. 5. Optimum chestnut plantation area will be 4,000 ha in 1988, and thereafter total plantation area will be up to 57,400 ha in 2010.
