  • Hydrated liquid crystalline vesicles containing a high content of ceramide were prepared by constituting an optimal composition in which ceramides can be mutually self-associated with phospholipid and cholesterol. From the result of manufacturing various vesicles with different component composition, when the edge activator sodium deoxycholate (SDOC) and the solubilizer PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil (HCO 60) were mixed to form vesicles, the smallest nano-sized particles were produced and the vesicle dispersion solution was weakly acidic and maintained the most stable state. In addition, it was confirmed through polarized light microscopy and thermal analysis that the addition of SDOC and HCO 60 had an effect on the inhibition of crystallinity of lipid components such as ceramide. The stability of the vesicle dispersion solution was maintained without change in appearance and viscosity even after long-term storage at high temperature for eight weeks.

  • An electrically conductive and transparent electrode was created by applying a dispersion of pristine single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and silver nanowires to a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film using a bar coating method. The SWCNTs were added to increase the electrical conductivity and transmittance of the silver nanowires while also preventing the haze from increasing due to the stacking of multiple layers containing SWCNTs and silver nanowires on the PET substrate. The silver nanowires in the electrode were also found to be stable against oxidation. The transparent electrode displayed excellent electrical and optical properties, with a sheet resistance of 47 Ω/□, transmittance of 96.72%, and haze of 1.93%. Additionally, the sheet resistance of the electrode remained stable over time, with a change of only 6.4% after a constant temperature and humidity test, making it suitable for long-term use. A hybrid transparent electrode that is economically feasible and environmentally sustainable has been developed through the utilization of pristine SWCNT and silver nanowire.

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of grooved abutments on abutment screw loosening. Materials and methods: This study was conducted to evaluate the abutment screw loosening after 6 months for 50 patients (51 implants) treated at the department of Prosthodontics in Yonsei University Dental Hospital from March, 2015 to July, 2015. A control group with non-grooved abutment consists of 30 implants, and an experimental group with grooved abutment consists of 21 implants. Astra, Straumann, Implantium, Osstem system were used in the study. The abutments with loose screws cases after a period of 6 months has been investigated, with two kinds of measurements: 1) measuring the additional rotational angle on abutment during placement with the same force, 2) measuring the PTV on bucco-cervical area of implant crown. All data collected has been analyzed by normality test followed by Mann-Whitney test using SPSS program. Results: No complications were reported after 6 months for the 51 implants. Abutment screw loose and crown fracture have not been seen in the study groups. The data collected from the two measurements showed no significant differences between the two groups with P-value 0.576 (average= control group: $7.35^{\circ}$, experimental group: $4.75^{\circ}$) for the additional rotational angle measurement and with P-value 0.767 for PTV. Conclusion: There are no significant differences between the grooved and non-grooved abutment in screw stability. However, further studies with long-term followups and larger group of patients is needed in order to investigate the effects of grooved abutment on screw stability.

  • One of the strenuous problems in orthodontic procedures is postretention stability and retention against relapse. Many investigative trial had been done to disclose the factors associated with relapse and effective prescription to stave off, however, the nature of these jeopardies remained obscure. The objective was to investigate the long-term stability and quantitative changes of dental arches subsequently after Class I nonextraction treatment. Study models, cephalometric headfilms of 26 samples which were taken before, after teatment and postretention were employed to measure the interdental width of corresponding buccal teeth, overbite, overjet and the inclination of incisors and molars. Statistical analysis was carried to compare each measurements across the time period, and followings were brought around. 1. The quantitative amount of relapse in overbite presented positive correlation with the amount of changes through the treatment. 2. Stability of intercanine width was so far secure in the case the expansion had been done through. 3. The amount of changes in intercanine width of the lower regardless of expansion or contraction manifested less than the upper, however, the relapse ratio got high. 4. The upper and lower incisors were likely to be labioversive, and remained stable after retention. 5. The first molars of the upper and lower were conceivably tipped back immediately after treatment and returned to the original angulation. The expansion of intermolar width stayed stable across the time scheme after treatment It was suggested that the maintenance of intercanine width of lower was pertinent to perform the postretention stabilityv and the expansion of dental arch shoed be confined within physiologic boundaries of the patients.

  • The failure of cut slopes frequently occurs particularly during the thawing season and the rain season in summer. This study interpreted data collected from site to which a real-monitoring system was applied in order to analyze the causes of ground behaviors and to forecast future slope failure. As for research methods, this study analyzed the size and mechanism of failure by integrating the results of field surveys and measurements. Furthermore, it analyzed data transmitted by the monitoring system installed in the a result, three times of ground displacement occurred as well as a number of partial tension cracks. The cut slope composed of sandstone and siltstone started its initial behavior as a result of torrential downpour and the loss of support of the substructure. For quantitative analysis of the characteristics of ground behavior, this study measured 5 lateral lines. According to the result of the measurement, displacement happened little in the section to which countermeasure had been applied, but displacement of maximum 400mm happened in the section to which countermeasure had not bee applied. The analysis of data on displacement and rainfall suggested a close relationship between ground behavior and rainfall. According to the result of stability interpretation along with the change of ground saturation, stability rate appeared to be less than 1.0 when ground saturation is over 55%. Although the current trend of ground behavior is at a stable stage falling within the range of tolerance, it is considered necessary to continue monitoring and data analysis because ground displacement is highly possible with the change of temperature during the winter.

  • Control of ground water is one of the most important factors for long-term operation of tunnel because most of tunnel is located in the ground. In case of leakage tunnel, there is no pore water pressure on the lining when the drainage system is properly working. After long-term operation, however, the pore water pressure can be developed on the lining due to the deterioration of the drainage system. The increased pore water pressure on the lining is termed here as 'residual pore water pressure'. Residual pore water pressure can be measured by piezometer, but it is generally not allowed because of damages of drainage system. Therefore, an indirect and nondestructive method is required for evaluating the residual pore water pressure. Moreover, understanding of pore water pressure is needed during healthy operation of the lining. In this study, a new method for evaluation of pore water pressure on the lining during operation is proposed using theoretical and numerical analysis. It is shown that the method is particularly useful for stability investigation of pore water pressure on the lining during operation using theoretical analysis with normalized pore water pressure curve.

  • Recently, offshore wind farms are increasingly expected, because there are huge resource and large site in offshore. Jeju island has optimum condition for constructing a wind energy farm. Unlike the mainland, Jeju island has stratified structure distribution between rock layers sediments due to volcanic activation. In these case, it can be occur engineering problems in whole structures as well as the safety of foundation as the thickness and distribution of sediment under top rock layer can not support sufficiently the structure. In this paper, the settlement and stress distribution is predicted by numerical analysis when the mono-pile base are constructed on various soft layer between stratified structure. To determine the settlement of the pile foundation supported on stratified rock layer, the geological investigation at the 3 regiions and the results of laboratory experiments of the stratified rock layer is required.

  • In this study, we fabricated the catalysts for enzymatic biofuel cell anode with carbon nanotube (CNT), glucose oxidase (GOx) and various molecular weights branched poly(ethyleneimine)(bPEI) and terephthalaldehyde (TPA) as cross-linker. In case of GOx/bPEI/CNT using only physical entrapments for immobilization, the molecular weights of bPEI didn't affect to electrochemical performances and long term stability. but that of the catalysts cross linked via TPA (TPA[GOx/bPEI/CNT]) improved and the mass transfer of glucose to FAD was interrupted as increasing of the bPEI's molecular weights. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the optimum molecular weight of PEI for TPA [GOx/bPEI/CNT]) structure is 750k that showed marvelous high performance (maximum power density of $0.995mW{\cdot}cm^{-2}$).

  • Flux-gate magnetometer was developed in 1930's, and it has been widely used for the low magnetic field measurements. In this work, we have employed amorphous ribbon 2714A produced by Allied Chem. Co. as sensor core material. To develop low noise, low power consumption, and high reliability flux-gate magnetometer, we have measured ac magnetic properties depending on the annealing conditions. As quenched state amorphous core shows high noise level and ac magnetic properties were changed under the condition of accelerated aging test, but amorphous ribbon, which was annealed under 350 $\^{C}$ during 1 hour, shows low noise level of 0.1 nT in the frequency range of dc∼10 Hz which was 10 times better than the as quenched amorphous ribbon. Under accelerated aging test, ac magnetic properties such as squareness and coercivity of the annealed samples show higher reliability and approached to a certain limiting value as exponential function. We can see that high reliability and low noise flux-gate magnetometer could be developed, if we consider this ac magnetic properties change in the sensor design.
