분할 경계 패치들을 이용한 자유형태 곡면의 구간변형방법 (An Local Deformation Method of Free-Form Surface using Subdivision Boundary Patches)

  • 변형방법은 물체의 일부분 혹은 전체를 사용자가 원하는 결과의 형태로 변형하는 것으로서, 복잡하고 다양한 자유 형태 곡면들을 모델링하는데 필수적인 방법이다. 이러한 객체들을 제어하기 위한 기존의 방법은 접선벡터와 경계 교차 곡선들로 구성되는 패치들을 정의하고, 물체상의 이동된 점들에 대한 변화량을 계산하기 위하여 많은 계산량이 필요한 문제점이 있었다. 본 논문에서는 분할 경계 패치들을 이용하여 이러한 문제점들을 해결한 새로운 구간 변형 방법을 제시한다. 이 방법은 물체상의 변화량을 분할 경계 곡선에 필요한 형태 제어점으로 간주하여 형태 제어점을 이용하여 불규칙한 패치들을 계산하고 이를 이용하여 접속과 제어 및 국부수정의 변형 제어 방법을 제안한다. 또한 NURBs 보간을 이용하여 변형범위를 효과적으로 제어할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다.

자유곡면의 정압연마에 관한 연구 (A Study on Hydro-Static Polishing for Sculptured Surface)

  • The finishing process of die requires the processing technique of a height efficiency and precision. Because the precision of die gives the quality of goods the influence directly. The hydro-static polishing device employs the hydro-static axis and is able to polish the structure of complex picture under the constant pressure and is got constant surface roughness at all polished plane. Therefore, In order to polish precision sculptured surface, it was used the hydro-static polishing device. Polishing device's polishing characteristic is estimated by polishing conditions which are size of abrasive, material of tools. And, because the surface quality of workpiece depends on polishing pattern which relates to motion of abrasive grain. The polishing characteristic according to polishing pattern was evaluated.

  • The objective of this research is to develop an effective inspection planning strategy for sculpture surfaces in OMM(On-Machine Measurement) process. As a first step, effective measuring point locations are determined to obtain optimum results for given sampling numbers. Two measuring point selection methods are suggested in this study based on newly proposed CAD/CAM/CAI integration concept: (1) by the prediction of cutting errors, (2) by considering cutter contact points to avoid the measurement errors caused by cusps. As a next step, the TSP(Traveling Salesman Problem)algorithm is applied to minimize the probe moving distance. Appropriate simulations and experiments are performed to verify the proposed inspection planning strategy in this study, and the results are analyzed.

  • In measuring step for reverse engineering of sculptured surfaces, computer vision system is used to simplify the complicated surface by boundary edge detection method that minimizes the measuring error. The measured data by Coordinate measuring machine is clouded data points of surfaces which is segmented surface using image process. In this research, the measured data is approximated as NURBS surfaces by new suggested algorithm. The position and number of control points, selection of parametric values and compensation of weight factors are proposed. Finally, surface model is simulated and improved resulting performance is obtained.

  • In this paper, an efficient reverse engineering method for free-formed surfaces is proposed based on the integration of a repetitive digitizing method and vision system. In recent reverse engineering process, the equi-interval digitization method is being used since the surface information is not known. If more accurate results are required, the number of measuring point should be increased appropriately. Thus, such measuring process tends to result in too dense data including useless information, and cause excessive measuring time. This problem can be improved by applying repetitive digitizing method and image process technique, which is proposed in this paper. The proposed methods are validated through appropriate simulation and experiments.

  • ECS(Error Compensation Software)는 알루미늄 자유곡면 반사경의 형상정밀도를 향상시키기 위해 개발된 보정가공 소프트웨어이다. DTM(Diamond Turning Machine)을 이용한 가공공정에서 가공오차의 변화를 쉽게 확인하며 형상을 보정할 수 있도록 설계되었다. 보정가공 공정은 (1) 10차 다항식을 이용하여 표면을 설계한 후 DTM에 입력할 가공경로 계산, (2) DTM에 가공경로를 입력하여 가공, (3) 3차원 초정밀 형상측정 장비로 반사경의 가공오차 분석, (4) 가공오차를 보정하여 새로운 10차 다항식 설계, (5) 보정가공경로 계산 후 재가공으로 이루어진다. 그동안의 공정은 다항식의 설계, 가공경로 계산, 반사경의 가공오차 분석을 위해 다수의 프로그램들을 실행해야만 했다. 본 연구에서는 ECS가 알루미늄 자유곡면 반사경 제작을 위한 통합 보정가공 소프트웨어를 제공하여, 사용자가 작업을 효율적으로 수행하기를 기대한다.

공구간섭과 절삭성을 고려한 자유 곡면의 4, 5축 NC 가공을 위한 공구 경로 산출 (Interference-Free Tool Path with High Machinability for 4- and 5-Axes NC Machining of Free-Formed Surfaces)

  • NC machines with 4 or 5 axes are capable of various tool approach motions, which makes interference-free and high machinablity machining possible. This paper deals with how to integrate these two advantages (interference-free and high machinability machining) in multi-axes NC machining with a ball-end mill. Feasible tool approach region at a point on a surface is first computed, then among which an approach direction is determined so as to minimize the cutting force required. Tool and spindle volumes are considered in computing the feasible tool approach region, and the computing time is improved by trans-forming surface patches into minimal enclosing spheres. A cutting force prediction model is used for estimating the cutting force. The algorithm is developed so as to be applied to 4- or 5-axes NC machining in common.

자유 곡면의 다축 NC 가공시 간섭 없는 공구 접근 자세 영역 (Interference-Free Tool Approach Directions in Multi-Axis NC Machining of Sculptured Surfaces)

  • In this paper, an algorithm of computing interference-free tool approach directions(visibility cone) with consideration of tool volume at an arbitrary point of a sculptured surface is developed. The surface is first approximated into a polyhedron with smaller subpatches and the tool approach directions are evenly sampled so as to test accessibility. Then the visibility cone is computed by testing if each approach direction is interfered by other surface subpatches. The results are represented as the binary spherical map which transform geometric information on sphere into aogebraic one. The developed algorithm is implemented and tested by several sculptured surfaces, convincing it can be easily used as a tool for not only interference- free tool approach directions but also determining process planning of multi-axis NC machining of sculp- tured surfaces

볼 엔드밀에 의한 자유곡면의 정밀가공특성 (Precision Machining Characteristics in Ball-end Milling of Sculptured Surfaces)

  • This paper deals with the study on the cutting characteristics in ball-end milling process. First of all, the effects of the geometric cutting conditions such as the cutting speed, feedrates and the path interval on the surface integrity were evaluat-ed by the analytical and the experimental approaches. Secondly, the cutting mechanism model was developed to predict the cutting force accurately. It is possible for the proposed model to predict the shape error, estimate system stability and build the reliable adaptive control system. A large amount of experimental set are performed to show the validities of the proposed theories and to investigate the effect of cutting geometry such as rubbing effects, burr effects and etc.

  • The objective of this research is to develop a measurement error model for sculptured surfaces in On-Machine Measurement (OMM) process based on a closed-loop configuration. The geometric error model of each axis of a vertical CNC Machining center is derived using a 4${\times}$4 homogeneous transformation matrix. The ideal locations of a touch-type probe for the scupltured surface measurement are calculated from the parametric surface representation and X-, Y- directional geometric errors of the machine. Also, the actual coordinates of the probe are calculated by considering the pre-travel variation of a probe and Z-directional geometric errors. Then, the step-by-step measurement error analysis method is suggested based on a closed-loop configuration of the machining center including workpiece and probe errors. The simulation study shows the simplicity and effectiveness of the proposed error modeling strategy.
