  • The purpose is to figure out the effects of education for environmental pollution prevention through forest experiences on children's nature-friendly attitudes and scientific problem solving ability. To achieve this, an experiment was conducted on total 44 kindergarten children in a class for 5-year-olds, who are classified into experimental group of 22 children(12 male children, 10 female children) and comparative group of 22 children(13 male children, 9 female children), in a C farming village. The results are as follows. First, the change of children's nature-friendly attitudes by group showed that education for environmental pollution prevention through forest experiences had an effect on the improvement of children's nature-friendly attitudes. Second, the change of children's scientific problem solving ability by group showed that education for environmental pollution prevention through forest experiences had an effect on the improvement of children's scientific problem solving ability. This implies that children's forest activities are useful in improving their nature-friendly attitudes and scientific problem solving ability.

  • This study was to research the effective use of green rooftop space, facilities and gardening, targeting members from community rehabilitation centers with disabilities. The three community rehabilitation centers studied were, Namyangju Center located in a rural area, Seoul Center located in a urban area and Siheung Center located in both a rural and urban area. We analyzed the difference in preference on the basis of each local community area. In fact, it indicated that 50% of each center knew about the green rooftop at their facilities and its use as a place for taking walks and conversation. It also showed that there was the high preference for priority objects such as a bench, pergola and trash can. Also the preference for natural visualizations like herbal or ornamental plants. The study showed a high preference to a small vegetable plot, hands on gardening and ecological wetland. It also indicated that there was a high preference for experience in nature programs on the rooftops (28.9 %) versus the rate of horticultural programs (27%). Therefore, it proves that the composition of a green rooftop at a community rehabilitation center should be differentiated so that the green rooftop can be a place not only for resting, but also great for a natural learning experience and gardening therapy for people with disabilities.

  • The research carried out to analyze the change of recognition of elementary school students after a forest experience to determine the effectiveness of the environmental education in elementary school curriculum. The data is collected through surveys before and after forest experience for 311 people on 2nd and 3rd grades of two elementary school in Jeonju city, then the conclusions analyzed the results of the surveys are as follows. Students who participated in the forest experience show a positive change in all areas after the forest experience, for example, awareness of the forest and behavior recognition in the forest, the need for commentary about the forest. Especially, the area of the behavior recognition has much significant result than the other areas. In the details of the behavior recognition, a behavior recognition and environmental awareness for the life of the forest have been greatly improved. • The purpose of this study is to explore the experience of participants in the adventurous leisure activities and to examine the structural relations of the cognitive experience, the emotional experience and adherence intention. Robust quantitative measures were developed from rich qualitative data. The five dimensions selected from two preliminary tests were being away, technical enhancement, fascination with nature, challenge, and interpersonal trust. The cognitive dimensions have a significant effect on the emotional arousal - pleasure dimension. Our study also shows a positive causal relationship between emotional experience and adherence intention. Implications of this study include 1) a developed questionnaire for measuring the cognitive experience dimension of adventure leisure and establishing a foundation for future research, and 2) an identified psychological model among cognitive, emotion, and intention. We offer opportunities to better understand the psychological factors that motivate participation in adventure leisure.

  • Both interests in nature-friendly education and demands for nature experience program are steadily increasing in children education field in korea. This study aims to find out that five-sense experience-activity with healing factors of forest can have an effect on both self-efficacy and respectful recognition of life of children. 5-year-old young children were chosen as the subjects for this study. Test group participated two times a week in the special forest class in a children education institute in Chungju oo-dong while control group did not. Both test group and control group were composed of 20 young children respectively and each group were 11 boys and 9 girls respectively. The five senses experience activity program was conducted two sessions a week from 8 August to 20 September in 2016 and each session was one hour (60 minutes) long. Five senses experience activity is an activity that young children awaken their five senses in the forest, recognize seasonal change with their five senses, build up their selves and become intimate with nature. Before and after the program self- efficacy test and respectful recognition of life test were conducted and the data was analyzed using SPSS 18.0 program. The results indicated that after participating five senses experience activity program both children's self-efficacy which means having positive-thinking and self-confidence and respectful recognition of life which means valuing nature coexisting with nature were improved significantly(p<0.05). Through five senses experience activity young children felt nature freely and to their heart's content with their bodies and five senses experience activity had better positive impacts on children's self- efficacy and respectful recognition of life than classroom activities.
