The purpose of this paper is to describe and understand the lived experiences of older learners in formal education offered in an online university. Applying qualitative research methods, this paper attempts to explore the interpretation and meanings of their college studying. Ten participants in this study were selected from older students aged over 60 who had studied or were studying in a cyber university and lived in Seoul and its metropolitan area for more readily accessible and available for in-depth interviews. After the final analysis of learning experiences of older adults in an online university, six main themes were identified: self in the past, breaking from the convention, struggling with the new challenges, attaining self-actualization, integrating a new identity, future-oriented self. Finally it appears that learning experiences of the learners enabled the participants to replace their past-oriented sense of self with a more positive, future-oriented version.
The premise underpinning this research is that cognitive evaluation is the starting point of children's emotional experience. It then went on to investigate how parents' person-oriented guidance affects children's emotional intelligence. Additionally, children's ego-resilience was analyzed as a variable that affects children's emotional intelligence and as a mediator between parents' person-oriented guidance and children's emotional intelligence. A purposive sampling was conducted in 4 elementary schools in metropolitan areas and made use of 466 students in 4th and 5th grade as research subjects. The results are summarized as follows:firstly, the more frequently parents used person-oriented guidance, the more children exhibited higher levels of ego-resilience and emotional intelligence. Secondly, vitality, peer relations, optimism, curiosity, emotional regulation, maternal person-oriented guidance were found to affect emotional intelligence in the order of relative significance of that influence. Thirdly, children's ego-resilience was found to intermediate parents' person-oriented guidance and children's emotional intelligence. In conclusion, individual children's evaluations of parental verbal stimuli was found to influence children's emotional intelligence, especially more significantly through the mediation of children's ego-resilience.
The purpose of this study is to examine adolescent future orientation in relation to education, work and career, and marriage and family. This study also explores the effects of adolescent future orientation in relation to their psychosocial characteristics: self-esteem, self-control, scholastic performance, and sexual permissiveness. Data were collected from 345 students in the second grade (male: 166, female: 179) of two middle schools in Seoul, Korea. Scale for adolescent future orientation was formulated based on literature review. The major findings of this study were as follows. Adolescents were found to be more future-oriented in the areas of work and career and in the area of marriage and family than in the area of education. Several hierarchical multiple regression analyses were also performed to examine the contribution of socio-demographic characteristics and future orientation to predictions of adolescent psychosocial characteristics. This study found that adolescent future orientation significantly predicted their self-esteem, self-control, and scholastic performance, while having no significant influence on sexual permissiveness.
The purpose of this study was to examine: (1) the relationships among two dimensions of children's perfectionism (both self-oriented and socially prescribed), and levels of depression, anxiety, and self-esteem; (2) whether or not self-esteem mediates the relationship between children's self-oriented perfectionism, and depression and anxiety; and (3) whether self-esteem mediates the relationship between socially prescribed perfectionism, and depression and anxiety. The participants were 406 fifth and sixth graders. Their data were collected with questionnaires. It was found that there are significant correlations between children's self-oriented perfectionism, and depression and self-esteem, and there are also significant correlations between children's socially prescribed perfectionism, and depression, anxiety, and self-esteem. It was also found that self-esteem mediates the relationship between the two dimensions of children's perfectionism, and depression and anxiety. These results seem to indicate that enhancing healthy self-esteem could lower the risks of experiencing depression and anxiety in children with perfectionistic personality.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effect which may operate within peer attachment as well as any links which may exist ego-resilience and life satisfaction and self-regulation learning ability in adolescence. The participants in this research consisted of 2,351 middle school students. the main result were as follows: first, each of three ego-resilience and peer attachment had an influence upon life satisfaction and self-regulation learning ability albeit in different ways. second, life satisfaction had a direct influence on self-regulation learning ability. third, the mediating effect of life satisfaction between ego-resilience and peer attachment upon and self-regulation learning ability were significant. finally, the limitation of this study were discussed along with suggestion for further research.
The objective of this study is to develop self-esteem program for elementary school students by accepting themselves. Elementary school students' self-esteem is closely related with accepting themselves as they are. For this reason, the contents of this study were consisted of stability, self-understanding, self-acceptance, self-respect, personal relationships. Three experts accomplished program structure and contents design performed by two tests on validity. The need-survey for this was based on the participants who were 93 elementary school students and 32 elementary school teachers. Also, this program was designed in 3 steps of observation, conversion and relation-orientation. The contents of these steps are related with this program's propriety. This program has a little weakness in behavioristic sides because it concentrated on cognitive and affective aspect for the self-esteem development of elementary school students.

The purpose of this study is to find out what self-reflection, relationship reflection, gratitude and happiness reflection, and social reflection among the sayings of Confucius in the Analects of Confucius are reinterpreted in various ways depending on the times and what meaning they contain today. Self-reflection is the process of considering one's identity, values, emotions, thoughts, and actions. Humans grow through reflection because they can identify their own problems, acknowledge their mistakes, find opportunities for improvement, and set a direction for the future. Confucius pursued the life of a gentleman as a person who constantly reflects on his life and grows. We classified it into the four categories presented above and examined them. In an era of coexistence with generative AI, Confucius' reflective life and teachings are recognized as important values in modern society in terms of human-centered value orientation, mature human relationships, and continuous social value realization, and reflection on happiness is the best attitude to life.
Purpose of study: The purpose of this study is to suggest the direction of Christian self-identity while paying attention to the metaverse era. It suggests the direction of education that forms a Christian self-identity based on the problems of identity crisis that may arise due to the problem of de-realization while accepting the situation of the metaverse that has emerged due to the digital revolution. Research content and method: Focusing on the discussion of metaverse and de-realization, this paper suggests the importance of Christian self-identity and the direction of education. For this purpose, four tasks of practical theology were carried out based on Richard Osmer's consensus model. As the desciptive-empirical task was carried out, the opportunities and risks of the metaverse were brought up. Through the interpretive task, the problem of metaverse and de-realization was presented. The normative task emphasized the importance of Christian self-identity, and the pragmatic task proposed an education oriented towards Christian self-identity. Conclusions and Suggestions: It is important for education in the metaverse era to form a sense of Christian self-identity. The purpose of education is the formation of Christian's self-identity, and the content is to build the Christian relationality self, equality self, and openness self. The teaching method is interactive teaching, and the teacher and learner can be presented as an encounter between interpreters. The environment is any area of interpreted life, and evaluation can manifest itself in Christian life as disciples and citizens. The suggestion is to suggest compedency education methods for acquiring Christian self-identity while considering various generations.
