As the interest on the air pollution is gradually rising up at home and abroad, automotive and fuel researchers have been working on the exhaust emission reduction from vehicles through a lot of approaches, which consist of new engine design, innovative after-treatment systems, using clean (eco-friendly alternative) fuels and fuel quality improvement. This research has brought forward various main issues : whether PM emissions should be regulated for diesel and gasoline vehicles and whether gasoline and LPG powered vehicles can be further neglected from PM emission inventories. Finally, the greenhouse gas regulation has been discussed including automotive emission regulation. The greenhouse gas and emissions of automotive had many problem that cause of ambient pollution, health effects. Based on various test modes and ambient conditions, this paper discusses the characteristics of LPG on exhaust emissions and greenhouse gases. Also, this paper assessed emission characteristics due to the test temperature. These test temperature were performed by dividing the temperature of the test mode and the lowest local temperature in winter. Through this study, the correlation of vehicle test mode and ambient condition, exhaust emission, greenhouse gas emission was analyzed.

The objective of this study is to numerically investigate the heat transfer rate for evaluating the thermal performances of the stack thermal system using the commercial software. In order to perform this, the cooling performances of the stack system for fuel cell electric vehicle were tested under both driving road conditions including the general driving road and uphill driving road and operating conditions with and without of the air conditioning system. The heat transfer rate of the stack radiator for the stack system was increased with the increase of the inlet air flow velocity. The heat transfer rate of the stack radiator increased by 105.3% at the coolant flow rate of 20 l/min and 221.3% at the coolant flow rate of 120 l/min with the increase of the air flow velocity from 2 m/s to 10 m/s. $9.45^{\circ}C$ of inlet coolant temperature of the stack radiator at the severe driving condition of the slope of 8% and velocity of 50 km/h showed higher 85.3% than $5.1^{\circ}C$ of inlet coolant temperature at the general driving condition of the slope of 0% and velocity of 120 km/h. In addition, as the fuel cell electric vehicle with the air conditioning system operation was driving under severe uphill driving condition, the radiator coolant temperature for a stable stack operation could be exceeded over $70^{\circ}C$.

Low-temperature combustion (LTC) strategies, such as HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition), PCCI (Premixed Charge Compression Ignition), and RCCI (Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition), have been developed to effectively reduce NOx and PM while increasing the thermal efficiency of diesel engines. Through numerical analysis, this study examined the effects of the injection timing and two-stage injection ratio of diesel fuel, a highly reactive fuel, on the performance and exhaust gas of RCCI engines using gasoline as the low reactive fuel and diesel as the highly reactive fuel. In the case of two-stage injection, combustion slows down if the first injection timing is too advanced. The combustion temperature decreases, resulting in lower combustion performance and an increase in HC and CO. The injection timing of approximately -60°ATDC is considered the optimal injection timing considering the combustion performance, exhaust gas, and maximum pressure rise rate. When the second injection timing was changed during the two-stage injection, considering the combustion performance, exhaust gas, and the maximum pressure increase rate, it was judged to be optimal around -30°ATDC. In the case of two-stage injection, the optimal result was obtained when the first injection amount was set to approximately 60%. Finally, a two-stage injection rather than a single injection was considered more effective on the combustion performance and exhaust gas.

Due to the development of the industrial revolution, regulations on exhaust emissions have been continuously strengthened to reduce the rapidly increasing greenhouse gas emissions. The use of environmentally friendly fuels is essential to meet these regulations. Hydrogen has been attracting attention as a future environmentally friendly fuel, but due to its material properties, it faces significant challenges in handling and storage. As an alternative, ammonia has been proposed. Ammonia can be easily liquefied at room temperature compared to hydrogen and has a high energy density. In order to examine the applicability of ammonia as an engine fuel, experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of changes in combustion control parameters in a direct injection ammonia combustion engine. The experiments were conducted by varying two variables: spark timing and excessive air ratio. Observations were made on combustion stability and the trends of exhaust emissions such as nitrogen oxides and unburned ammonia under the conditions of an engine speed of 1,500 rpm and medium to high loads (brake torque of 200 Nm). By optimizing the combustion control parameters, conditions for stable combustion even when using ammonia as the sole fuel were identified, and plans are underway to apply strategies for future expansion of the operating range.

NOx (nitrogen oxide) in the exhaust gas engines causes severe air pollution. NOx is produced under high-temperature combustion conditions. EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) is normally used to reduce the combustion temperature and NOx production. As the EGR ratio increases, the NOx level becomes low. On the other hand, an excessively high EGR ratio makes the combustion unstable resulting in other air pollution problems, such as unburned hydrocarbon and higher CO levels. In this study, the improvement of fuel droplets moving by the radiation of sonic waves was studied for the stable combustion using analytic and experimental methods. For the analytical study, the effects of the radiation of a sonic wave on the fuel droplet velocity were studied using Fluent software. The results showed that the small droplet velocity increased more under high-frequency sonic wave conditions, and the large droplet velocity increased more under low-frequency sonic wave conditions. For the experimental study, the combustion chamber was made to measure the combustion pressure under the sonic wave effect. The measured pressure was used to calculate the heat release rate in the combustion chamber. With the heat release rate data, the heat release rate increased during the initial combustion process under low-frequency sonic wave conditions.

The world has been replacing fast fossil fuels vehicles with electric vehicles(EVs) to cope with climate change. The government set a goal which EVs will be substitute at least 10% of the domestic small vehicles with EVs until 2020, and will try to build electric charging infrastructures in apartments with the revision the law of 'the housing construction standards'. In apartments the EVs charging infrastructure and parking space is, essential to accomplish the goal. But the studies on EVs demand are few. In this study, we predicted that the demand for EVs using time-series analysis of statistical data, survey results for apartments residents in the metropolitan area. As a result, the ratio of the EVs appeared to be 6~21% for the total vehicles in a rental apartments for the years 2020, 21~39% in apartments for sales. For the EVs, the maximum power required for 1,000 households in rental apartment is predicted to be about 4200 kwh on a daily basis, while the maximum power in the apartment for sales is predicted to be 7800kwh.

Recently, Autonomous Vehicle(AV) has been expected to solve various transportation problems. s the problem of environmental pollution become serious, research to reduce pollution is needed. However, empirical research on AV related pollution is insufficient. Based on this background, this study analyzed network performance changes and CO2 emissions introduc AVs and Electric Vehicles(EV) in eight intersections. The results show that when AVs with internal combustion engines were, the effect of carbon reduction over the network was insignificant. On the other hand, it was that the total amount of CO2 generated in the network decreased significantly when EVs and autonomous electric vehicles were emissions in the transportation sector.

Natural gas, a fossil fuel contained mostly of methane, is one of the cleanest alternative fuels. It can be used in the form of compressed gas(CNG) or liquefied natural gas(LNG) to cars and trucks. And, dedicated natural gas vehicles are designed to run on natural gas only, while Bi-fuel vehicles can also run on gasoline or CNG, especially, bi-fuel can be defined as the simultaneous combustion of two fuels. In this study, converted gasoline marine system to CNG Bi-fuel system which is made up of injector, regulator, tank and ECU is converted. And estimated the fuel system and engine power compared the result with gasoline engine is estimated. As a result, CNG engine shows low exhaust emissions but maxium power is 7% reduced compared to gasoline engine.
