Implementation of an Intelligent Automatic Parking Assist System (지능형 자동 주차 지원 시스템의 구현)

  • In the paper, we propose an intelligent automatic parking assist system. To realize an automatic parking, first, the prospective parking position and the location of a vehicle should be recognized. Second, the system should compute a path which introduces the parking position precisely with avoiding any obstacles. Third, the handle should be controlled so that the vehicle moves through the path. To calculate the location of the vehicle and its surroundings, the system applies the camera image method to transforming input images to the plane map. It also uses the inertial navigation method which recognizes the position and the direction of a moving vehicle by using a kinematic model of the vehicle. To generate a path of the vehicle, the simple path method and the Bezier spline method are tested. The divided arc method which generates multiple paths is also tested. We apply a method which makes the system choose the best path with multiple objective functions. We introduce the virtual road method, as a solution for the problem of mechanical time delay, to have the vehicle followed the designated path.

Design of Improved UI of Automatic Parking Management System using License Plate Recognition (번호판 인식을 통한 자동 주차관리 시스템의 개선된 UI 설계)

  • Recently, due to advances in both imaging technology and ICT, various types of image processing services became available and the application services of these two technologies are diversifying. Recognition of vehicle license plates is used in places where vehicle information is needed such as in parking management. However, existing systems have economic disadvantages like issuing parking tickets and attaching unnecessary equipment. In order to solve these problems, we designed and implemented automatic parking management system through recognition of vehicle license plates by using emguCV that is based on OpenCV. Additionally, we designed improved UI to handle the entire parking management situation which include information such as details of each parking vehicle, parking time and remaining parking spaces without screen movement. This improved UI is implemented with the use of WPF which is the latest technology in user program development. The emguCV used in this paper showed the most optimized performance in Intel based environment. With it, we obtained the result of within 0.5 seconds of recognition processing time and over 90% of recognition rate. Through improved UI, the manager could both simply and intuitively manage the entire system.

  • In this study, we designed the system that helps drivers check all information about parking space at the entrance and find out whether the places is available or not, because the system has 'Image recognition function' which can even recognize car number plates exactly. Besides, we place the webcam close to the car number plate, so that car number can be identified more quickly. Finally, since we set the webcam high, the system keeps us from parking wrong places by displaying on the screen.

  • In recent days, mart or department which have large parking lots provide service for finding parked cars using NFC and GPS technology. In case using NFC, users should directly tap NFC tag, and GPS does not work inside the parking garage. In this paper, garage parking indicator system using becoan served push notification is described. By using this system, users can automatically be aware where they parked car when they enter into the huge parking lot. This system overcomes the weakness of the existing parking indicator systems, such as using NFC tag system and using GPS system.

  • As a part of automatic car parking, this paper have devised the distance measurement algorism using stereo vision system which measure between object and parking lot. In this simulation, laser pointer is used for detecting edge of designated object and real distance is measured by searching the position of laser pointer and measuring the distance. Which are 1 / 1.5 / 2 / 2.5 / 3m and adjusted correction had applied in order for use in car parking system.

  • In this study an ANFIS-based trajectory tracking motion control algorithm is proposed for autonomous garage and parallel parking of a model car. The ANFIS controller is trained off-line using data set which obtained by Mandani fuzzy inference system and thereby the processing time decreases almost in half. The controller with a steering delay compensator is tuned through simulations performed under MATLAB/Simulink environment. Experiments are carried out with the model car for garage and parallel parking. The experimental results show that the trajectory tracking performance is satisfactory under various initial and road conditions

  • With the advent of autonomous cars, we explored the problems which will soon arise while parking in car parks. These include structure of parking lot suitable for autonomous cars, finding the closest parking slot available, and navigation to the location. We provide an initial solution, wherein we use a central server and the graph of the parking lot to guide cars to the closest parking slots available. Our experiments have shown that the proposed method is effective for the controlled parking for self-driving cars.

  • The final step of driving a car is parking, which is the most difficult part for people learning to drive. Parking in narrow parking spaces is difficult for both ordinary drivers and beginners. To solve this problem, the development of SPAS (Smart Parking Assist System), ACC (Automatic Control System) improves the convenience of drivers. In addition, parking assistance systems have been developed to recognize more accurately the surrounding environment to the driver using the ultrasound, camera, thermal camera, and radar. This paper proposes the reverse turning radius to process images as if the camera is located in the center of the vehicle regardless of the actual camera position. In addition, it generates the parking guidelines through verification using the vehicle.
