The self-efficacy promotion smoking cessation program was conducted for 2 hours per week, and lasted for 6 weeks on the experimental group. The control group had a general smoking program. Data was analyzed using SPSS/WIN 14.0 program. T-test was used to analyze outcome measures. Results: The amount of smoking, CO level, urine cotinine level, and self efficacy level of the experimental group was significantly improved more than that of the control group after intervention. Conclusion: Therefore, self-efficacy promotion smoking cessation program for adolescent smokers can be recommended for smoking cessation of adolescents.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of self-efficacy promotion programs on self-efficacy, self-care behavior, and quality of life in breast cancer patients receiving radiation therapy. Methods: This study was conducted from November 1, 2009 to December 10, 2010. A total of 39 breast cancer patients, who received radiotherapy in a University hospital located in city B, participated in the study and were divided into two groups (experimental group 17 and control group 22). The data were analyzed with the ${\chi}^2$-test and ANCOVA using the SPSS/Win 17.0 program. Results: Self-efficacy promotion programs aimed at self-management were effective in enhancing concrete self-efficacy but not effective in promoting general self-efficacy, self-care behavior, and quality of life among breast cancer patients who have received radiotherapy. Conclusion: Organizing a support group for the breast cancer patients seems to be highly necessary to help themselves obtain higher level of specific self-efficacy, self-care behavior, and quality of life in general. It will also be beneficial for the breast cancer patients to understand their unique situations and improve their health problems for themselves.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to develop a self-efficacy promotion program and to identify the effects of the program on degree of urinary incontinence, self-efficacy and quality of life in women with urinary incontinence. Method: The study used a pre-experimental design. Twenty participants were recruited from a nursing home located in Gwangju City and included residents, employees, and volunteer workers with urinary incontinence. Participants were surveyed from September 21 to November 2, 2005. The program treatment was provided to participants once a week for 6 weeks. Results: Frequency, amount, and situation scores for urinary incontinence, maximum and mean vaginal constriction pressure, vaginal constriction time, and nocturnal frequency were significantly improved after participating in the program (p<0.05). However, there was no significant pre- and posttest difference in frequency of daily urination (p=0.097). The degree of self-efficacy and quality of life for participants in the self-efficacy promotion program at posttest were significantly higher compared to the pretest scores (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of the study indicate that a self-efficacy promotion program can be implemented for women with urinary incontinence in community health centers or nursing homes in order to reduce their incontinence symptoms, and increase self-efficacy and quality of life.

The participants of this study were 191 nurses in 5 hospitals with less than 100-300 people and collected data by self-reported questionnaire.. Data were analyzed by the SPSS 20.0 program, As a results, significant postive correlations were founded among patient safety culture awareness, patient safety attitude, self-efficacy and patient safety management activities. And factors affecting patient safety management activities of small and medium hospital nurses were patient safety attitudes, self-efficacy, and patient safety culture awareness, and the explanatory power of these variables was 41.8%. Thus, it is proposed to develop education programs that can improve patient safety attitudes, self-efficacy, and patient safety culture awareness to promote patient safety management activities of small and medium hospital nurses.

  • This study examined the influence of problem solving ability, communication skill and self-efficacy on clinical competence of nursing students. The research subjects were 184 grade 4 nursing students in D and G city. Data were collected from September 1 to September 10, 2016 and analyzed by independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and stepwise multiple regression using the IBM SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. The results showed that the problem solving ability was 3.60, communication skill was 3.79, and self-efficacy was 3.45. The clinical competence was positively correlated with problem solving ability, communication skill and self-efficacy. Problem solving ability (${\beta}=0.283$, p<0.001), self-efficacy (${\beta}=0.249$, p<0.001), motivation for nursing (${\beta}=0.182$, p=0.002), communication skills (${\beta}=0.176$, p=0.016), and interpersonal relationships (${\beta}=0.101$, p=0.082) explained 42.8% of the total variance in clinical competence of nursing students. The most significant predictors of clinical competence were problem solving ability, followed by self-efficacy and communication skills. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an empowerment program to improve problem solving ability, self-efficacy and communication skills of nursing students.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate the Self Efficacy Promotion and Exercise Program to prevent of obesity and cardiovascular diseases for the kidney transplant recipients. The subjects were selected randomly among the patients who underwent kidney transplantations at one major transplantation hospital in Seoul, Korea. This study ws carried out between November 23, 1999 and February 15, 2000. The subjects in this study consisted of 16 patients who had kidney transplantations between 1 month and 12 months ago prior to this study. They were all on steroids therapy and did not take any physical exercise regularly. The subjects received the self efficacy promotion and exercise program for 12 weeks which contained self efficacy promotion education and exercise program. The weight, body fat rate, exercise time and cardiopulmonary function were evaluated before the experiment and after the experiment. The results were as follows: 1. After the experiment, the weight was significantly decreased than that of before the experiment(p=.0001). 2. After the experiment, the body fat rate was significantly decreased than that of before the experiment(p=.0010). 3. After the experiment, the exercise time was significantly increased than that of before the experiment(p=.0002). 4. After the experiment, the absolute VO2 was significantly increased than that of before the experiment(p=.0008). 5. After the experiment, the relative VO2 was significantly increased than that of before the experiment(p=.0002). This study showed that the self efficacy promotion and exercise program was effective. So it would be expected that this self efficacy promotion and exercise program could be applied as an effective independent nursing intervention widely in prevention of obesity and cardiovascular diseases for kidney transplant recipients.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and evaluate the Self Efficacy Promotion and Exercise Training Program to decrease anxiety and depression and to increase the quality of life for kidney transplant recipients. The subjects were selected randomly among the patients who underwent renal transplant at three major transplantation hospitals in Seoul, Korea. The observed subjects in this study consisted of 56 patients who had renal transplantations between one to twelve months prior to this study. The patients did not take any regular physical exercise. This study was carried out between November, 1999 and March, 2000. The study groups were divided into 3 groups; exercise training group (n=16), self efficacy group (n=18) and control group (n=22). The exercise training group received self efficacy promotion and exercise training program for 12 weeks. The self efficacy group received self efficacy promotion education, but no exercise training was given. The control group was not offered any education. The anxiety, depression and quality of life were evaluated 3 times, before the experiment, after 8 weeks and after 12 weeks. The data were analyzed with mean, standard deviation, Chi-square test, ANOVA and $Scheff\acute{e}$ test. The results were as follows: 1. After the experiment, anxiety and depression scores of the exercise training group and self efficacy group were more significantly decreased than those of the control group (p=.05). 2. After the experiment, the quality of life score of the exercise training group and self efficacy group were more significantly increased than those of the control group (p=.05). This study showed that the Self Efficacy and Exercise Training Programs were effective. Therefore, it is expected that the Self Efficacy Promotion and Exercise Training Program could be widely applied as an effective independent nursing intervention to decrease anxiety and depression and to increase quality of life for kidney transplant recipients.
