Development and Application of Questionnaire for Self-Understanding and Change Capacity Related to Science Education: Focus on the Recognition of Pre-Service Elementary Teachers (과학교육 관련 자기이해와 변화역량 조사 도구 개발 및 적용 -초등예비교사의 인식을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the questionnaire on pre-service elementary teachers' recognition of self-understanding and change capacity for science education and to investigate their recognitions with it. At the beginning of the study, we made a tool to investigate the self-understanding and change capacity of pre-service elementary teachers through literature review and discussions. The former half of the questionnaire was related to self-understanding with factors such as 'self-concept clarity,' 'career identity' and 'self-efficacy:' 'self-understanding as a pre-service elementary teacher' (12 items) and 'self-understanding as a pre-service elementary science teacher' (12 items). Its latter half was about the change capacity with factors such as 'change sensitivity,' 'goal consciousness,' 'collaboration,' 'reflection,' and 'mastery.' It consisted of three parts: 'general change capacity,' 'change capacity as a pre-service elementary teacher' and 'change capacity as a pre-service elementary science teacher' with 17 items, respectively. With this tool, we surveyed 153 pre-service elementary teachers. The results are as follows: First, pre-service elementary teachers have a positive recognition about self-understanding and change capacity, but the recognition of self-understanding and change capacity as pre-service elementary science teachers were relatively less positive. Second, factors of self-understanding and change capacity as pre-service elementary science teachers have a significant correlation with each other. Especially, there was a high correlation between 'self-efficacy' of self-understanding and 'goal consciousness' and 'mastery' of change capacity. Based on these results, some implications for self-understanding and change capacity related to science education were discussed.

A Study on the Influence of the Self-understanding on Self-directed learning of Middle students : A Mediating Effect of the Future-Oriented Thinking (중학생의 자기이해가 자기주도 학습에 미치는 관계에서 미래지향적 사고의 매개효과 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine whether self-understanding influences self-directed learning, and to analyze the mediating effect of future-oriented thinking in the relationship. For this purpose, 240 middle school students in G area were surveyed using self-understanding scale, future-oriented thinking scale, and self-directed learning scale. The structural equation model was used to verify the mediating effect. The main results are as follows. First, self-understanding of middle school students influenced self-directed learning. Second, future-oriented thinking has a complete mediation effect on self-directed learning. As a result of this research, comprehensive implications were suggested for interventions.

  • 대부분의 발달장애를 돌보는 어머니의 양육경험 속에는 스트레스로 인한 부정적 정서 및 우울증을 포함하지만, 어떤 어머니들은 장애자녀로 인해 가족 및 사회적 친화력을 높이고 긍정적인 정서경험을 통해 자신 및 가족의 삶의 질을 향상시켜 나간다. 본 연구는 발달장애를 돌보는 중년기 어머니들의 양육경험과 우울증의 상관관계에 있어 어머니의 자기자비와 중년기의 신체 및 심리적 특성에 대한 자기이해가 어떠한 영향을 미치는가에 대해 탐색하고자 한다. 연구수행에 필요한 자료 수집을 서울, 경기를 포함한 전국에 사는 발달장애 중년기 어머니 700명을 대상으로 하며, 자료는 SPSS PC+ Ver 28을 활용하여 빈도분석과 주요 변수에 대한 기술통계를 실시하고, 변인 간 상관관계, 회귀분석을 실행한다. 본 연구의 의의는 발달장애인 자녀를 돌보는 어머니의 양육 스트레스를 줄이고 건강한 가족회복을 위해 어머니의 자존감을 향상시킬 수 있는 자기자비의 역할과 중년기에 대한 자기이해를 강화하도록 도울 수 있는 장애인 가족지원 정책 및 사회 서비스 개발에 기여하고자 한다.

A Study on the Effects to the Communication Capability and the Accommodation of other person's Perspective for the Self Understanding, the Self Accommodation and the Self Communication -Centered on the University Students in Gungji-do and Seoul- (자기이해, 자기수용, 자기표현이 타인관점수용과 의사소통역량에 미치는 영향 연구 -서울, 경기도의 한국 대학생을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study intends that the contemporary university students would understand the importance and relationship of the Self-Expression as its appropriateness, the Self-Understanding and the Self-Accommodation as it is, and that it would conducive to enhance their Communication Capability and Accommodation to other's perspective on the base of these understandings. In accordance with the analyses of questioners and statistics as a methodology of this study, the tendency of the factors effective to the enhancement for the Communication Capability and the Accommodation to other's perspective will be found out and the meaning of the Self-Expression, the Self-Accommodation and the Self-Understanding will be analyzed by the standpoint of the enhancement of the Self-Competency. The result of this study reveals that a high distributed group for the Definitization of the Self-Conception is to have more the Self-Expression and the Self-Accommodation. As an enlightenment from this study, the Self-Expression and the Self-Accommodation shall have a mutual reliance and be influenced to the Accommodation of Other Person's Perspective. In case of the high distribution of the Self-Accommodation, where there is the both of the low distribution of the Self-Expression and the Self-Accommodation, the Accommodation of Other Person's Perspective is high. However, if there is the higher of the Self-Expression and the Self-Accommodation, there influences the better enhancement of the Communication-Capability, and there no effect to their mutual reliance. This study enlightens when it becomes at the stage of the Self-Accommodation, a respectable listening from others makes to accommodate other as it is and when it is wanted to raise the Communication Capability, it is required to improve the capability through the Self-Expression together with the Self-Accommodation.

Effects of Giving Prompts and Asking for Self-Explanation Depend on the Students' Need for Cognition (촉진질문 제공과 자기설명 지시가 기억과 이해에 미치는 영향: 인지욕구와의 상호작용)

  • A three factor experiment was conducted to explore the effects of giving prompts and asking for self explanation and the modulating effect of the need for cognition (NC) on the two interventions. The effects of giving prompts and asking for self explanation were different depending on the task and the level of need for cognition. Participants of low NC conditions showed the prompt effect and the self explanation effect in the memory tests. On the other hand, participants in the high NC conditions performed better in the comprehension test when they were given prompts and were asked to self explain. However, high NC participants performed worse when they were asked to self explain without providing the prompts. The results were interpreted to suggest the importance of detecting the right parts in getting the self explanation effect.

Self-understanding of Art in an age of the End of Self-evidence (자명성 종언의 시대에서 예술의 자기이해 - 가다머(H.-G. Gadamer)의 「예술의 종언?」을 중심으로 -)

  • This paper aims to describe the past character of art through Gadamer's interpretation of "End of the Art" thesis of Hegel. His interpretation also reveals that new art can demand a validity as a way of self-understanding that the art understands itself from its past. Hegel declared the end of art in his philosophical system. From Gadamer's perspective, it means that art has past character in the horizon of modern christianity-humanistic self-evidence (II). Then art understands itself as the past and demands its own validity. Gadamer sees that art cannot require common self-evidence which is clearly and universally understood by all in an age of "the end of self-evidence." And according to him, this requirement shows up in the phenomenon of anti-art in post-modernism(III). From his standpoint it is about time to demand new validity of art again and this requirement could be complied through hermeneutical self-understanding. Art exists as a self-understanding artwork in the cycle of understanding in which art understands itself as an understood past. As a play is played by players, artwork exists as participating spectators. This artwork does not demand a common understanding but exists through various understandings of spectators(IV).

The Effect of interpersonal competency based self-understanding and acceptance of others, self-leadership and stress-coping on military adjustment (자기이해와 타인수용에 기반한 대인관계능력과 셀프리더십, 스트레스대처수준이 군생활적응에 미치는 영향)

  • This study would like to know the relationship among interpersonal competency based self-understanding and acceptance of others, self leadership, stress-coping and military adjustment. For this, 1289 military trainee in the army training station were surveyed. In results, The first, the acceptance of others did not have a significant effect on the perform-will, but had a significant effect on the job satisfaction and self leadership. The self-understanding had a significant effect on perform-will, job satisfaction and self leadership. The second, self leadership mediated between interpersonal competency and military adjustment. The third, in case of the perform-will, the moderating effect was showed in self leadership when the stress coping level was high. But in case of the job satisfaction, it was showed in both high group and low. Implications of this study is that the interpersonal competency based self-understanding and acceptance of others, self leadership and stress coping can be the positive potential variables on the military adjustment.

  • Recently human resources who have core competencies are regarded as an important factor in the labor market. However, there are few limitation about instruments to measure university students' core competencies. Recognizing this limitation, this study aimed to develop and validate the tests that could measure core competencies of students in universities. Among NCS core competencies, this study primarily focused on the self-development skill, organizational skill and resources management skill. This study concluded the proper definition of core competencies for university students, sub factors of 3 domains and questionnaire and validated its measurement. Implications of this study were discussed.

The Characteristics of Literary therapy through a contrast with Literature education (문학교육과의 대비를 통해 본 문학치료의 특성)

  • This paper aims to identify the characteristics of literary therapy in relation to literature education. It also intends to clarify its distinctiveness. Literary therapy is not to teach literature. It does not deliver knowledge on agreed analyses, backgrounds and the nature of genres. Literary therapy encourages participants to fully appreciate one's thought and emotions and express them. The end goal is self-knowledge rather than the understanding of texts. Literary therapy focuses on self-knowledge through literatures as opposed to literature education which aims to encourage understandings of literature texts. In literary therapy, literature is media for personal growth facilitating self-expansion. Literature works enable participants to view oneself objectively by the means of one's responses to literature works. Literary therapy has more permissive viewpoints on recipients' response to literature texts than literature education. In addition, the subject of literary therapy is more unique and individualistic.

A Study of the Elderly Female Gamblers' Life History: On the Aspect of Existential Self-regulation ('실존적 자기조절(existential self-regulation)' 측면에서 본 여성노인도박자의 삶에 대한 연구)

  • This study is on mid-seventies female gamblers who went through Korean modern history. The purpose is to analyze interviews on their life of understanding what their true self is, and to redefine gambling. The concept of 'existential self-regulation' was proposed and the materials were acquired through narrative interviews. The materials were then investigated according to Mandelbaum's framework for analysis of which suggests dimension, turning, and adaptation. The self-narrative revealed that the process of being addicted to gambling is as in the following: compensating her emotional deficiency via money and child's education, getting rid of the emotional deficiency via gambling, becoming free from emotional deficiency. The meaning of gambling has shifted to a comfort to existential vacuum, a source of anxiety ruining life, pastime for boring everyday life. Life events that control the impulse to gamble through 'existential self-knowledge' occurred in the second and the third stage. Based on the results, the study suggests mid-seventies female gamblers to write her autobiography, and proposed the necessity of self-examining programs.
