Evaluation and Suggestions of the Army-College Joint Training System for Non-commissioned Officers (육군 부사관 협약제도의 효과성 평가와 개선 방안)

  • Ten years have passed since an arm-college joint education system with the goal of efficiently acquiring future non-commissioned officers (NCOs), and approximately 4,000 annual graduates of the programs have already actively been in position in Korean Army. We evaluated the effectiveness of the system based on an empirical survey for 100 respondents, all sergeants-first-class and above. The analysis shows that the graduates' general performance and attitude as NCOs appear to be superior to those who were recruited from the general public, while there were no statistically significant difference in some other areas. NCOs from the departments of the program showed higher capacity to conduct his duty of expertise, better accountability, and more positive attitude toward the routine tasks. Several policy messages are also drawn. We suggest that the Army and the relevant schools take appropriate measures like more active institutional support for upgrading the system. Additionally, their initial selection process for prospective NCOs, high school graduates, should also be improved.

  • 1995년 5원 31일에 단군이래 최대의 개혁이라고 언론 매체들이 보도할 정도로 혁신적인 교육정책이 발표되었다. 또, 1996년 2월 9일에는 2차 교육 개혁안이 제시되었다. 이런 정책들이 추진되면서 우리나라 대학교육체계가 크게 변화하고 있다. 그 중에서도 학부제의 도입이 대학의 학사제도 개혁에서 최대의 관심사가 되고 있다. 1995년 말에 우리 나라 전대학의 1/3이 넘는 64개 대학이 96학년도부터 학부제를 추진하겠다고 발표하였다. 그러나 대학의 다양화와 자율성이 강조되면서 학부제에는 통일된 모형이 없으며 다양한 모습으로 학부제가 구성되고 있다. 특히 산업공학은 학문의 특성상 인접 학문이 다양하므로 학부제를 구성할 때 소속될 학부의 선택을 어렵게 하고있다. 앞으로 수년 내에 대학 지원 예정자들의 자연 감소와 대학 교육에 대한 사회적인 인식의 변화로 대학 교육 산업에도 소비자 중심시대가 도래하게 된다. 따라서, 학부제의 도입시에 산업공학의 소속과 역할도 소비자 중심 시대에 적합하게 결정되어야 할 것이다. 교육 서비스의 직접 소비자인 대학 입학생들에게 자유로운 전공 선택권을 갖게 하고, 교육 서비스의 간접 소비자인 기업에는 복합 학문의 기술 인력을 제공할 수 있는 학부제의 모형을 제시한다.

  • College's existence is threatened through the decreasing of students, even though it made big growing. In these situations, College makes on-line contents for promotion and announce information of college. However, previous research has limit about statistic theory with influence of application and registration with an applicant for admission to a college. In this paper, we analyze difference of application and registration in period of application, and find the difference recognize rate with students by period of application.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the current student assessment plan of subject domain and to propose ways to improve it. This study analyzed the history of our student assessment plan of subject domain and overviewed the student assessment cases of several countries. And then researchers discussed the improvement plans of student assessment of subject domain. The results of this study are as follows. First, we need to enlarge the use of detailed subject-ability record space or to assess student's subject-related ability according to subordinate perspectives of subject. Second, we need to establish the desirable evaluation-perspective and to develop absolute evaluation criteria of each subject and unit. Third, we need to diffentiate the scores of differentiated test items or equate the scores of differentiated groups.

  • 외국어학습의 성공여부는 학습자의 강한 동기유발에 달렸는데, 현재 우리나라에서는 영어학습의 강세에 밀려 프랑스어를 포함한 제 2 외국어 학습 열의가 점차 사라져 가고 있는 실정이다. 각 대학에 프랑스어를 전공하는 학과가 존재하는 한, 프랑스어 교육은 계속되어질 것이나, 과거와는 달리 고등학교에서 프랑스어의 기초를 배우고 대학의 프랑스어 학과에 입학하는 학생의 수가 점차 줄어들고 있다. 또한 현재의 대학 입시 제도가 학생들의 학과에 대한 적성 여부와 상관없이 수능성적 결과 점수에 따라 학과를 정하게 되므로 처음부터 프랑스어를 배우고자 하는 동기가 결여된 상태에서 전공 언어 학습을 시작하게 된다. 프랑스어를 가르치면서 현장에서 가장 고심하게 되는 문제는 첫째 학생들에게 어떻게 하면 프랑스어에 대한 흥미를 유발시킬 수 있는가 하는 점이고, 둘째로는 대학 4년이라는 짧은 기간 동안 어떻게 하면 정확한 프랑스어를 학습시킬 수 있는가 하는 것이다.   • The College Scholastic Ability Test(CSAT) is the Korean national university examination based on the national curriculum. The CSAT is a high-stakes test because of powerful social forces which the college admission system has in Korea. This examination has changed many times through not only the national curriculum revision but also various external factors including the normalization of public education, mitigating the burden of students, etc. This study analysis the changes of assessment contents of the Mathematics of the CSAT due to the national curriculum revision. Additionally, this study analysis the mathematics content domains of the college entrance examinations in some foreign countries. Based on the result of this analysis, this study will derive implications for improvement directions of the Mathematics of the CSAT.

A Study on the Learning Efficiency of the Plastic Arts Expression in College of Design on the Students Preeducation (디자인계열 대학입학생의 실기능력 유무에 따른 조형학습 효과에 대한 연구)

  • This study attempts to suggest a new direction of the plastic arts education, first by examining a variety of cases in the admission policy depending on the existence of students' preeducation; and second, by analyzing the work process of students who were admitted. The flexible admission policy should be provided to select both groups of students: students with preeducation and students without preeducation. It is requested that the uniform selectional standard adopted by most universities should be changed into the diverse standards that can evaluate different educational back ground of students. This study will be helpful for the university professors to prepare for the new educational foundation and direction by enhancing the efficiency of teaching. This study also aims to suggest the curriculum and methods of the design education to provide the effective teaching of plastic arts and there by develop the better methods of education in this area.

  • Currently science and technology are changing so fast and college mathematics becomes more and more important. But the downturn of freshmen's scholastic performance has been intensified and this phenomenon leads to serious problems in managing college curriculums. During the recent years at a middle level engineering college, many freshmen had a lot of difficulties in their mathematics courses. In consequence, many of them had hard time to survive at their major curriculums. In this point of view, we analyse the situation of mathematical scholastic ability among engineering majored freshmen through the research on the actual state of mathematical background, mathematical scholastic ability test, college mathematics scores, and scholastic aptitude test scores. We study the relation between the mathematics score of scholastic aptitude test for the college entrance and mathematical scholastic ability of freshmen of a middle level engineering college. From this study we conclude that the essential reasons for the above situations are the curriculum of middle school mathematics and the system of scholastic aptitude test and the entrance examination of university. In order for improving mathematical accomplishment. we give suggestions such as a learning ability improvement program in mathematics.

Analysis on a Medical School Students' Academic Achievement by University Major Field (의학전문대학원생의 대학 전공 계열에 따른 학업성취도 분석)

  • The purpose of the study is to analyse students' academic achievement by their university major field and changes of grade. The subject was entering students of C medical graduate school in 2008. We divided entering students' major fields into two fields that are natural science and non-natural science filed. We analysed academic achievements of entering students by grades, curriculum from 2008 to 2011. And We analysed to find out whether there are differences in academic achievements by grades, curriculum of each major fields. There were no significant statistical differences in academic achievements by grade, curriculum of the two different university major fields. Futhermore, as a results of analysis on level(high, medium, low) distribution and differences of academic achievements by grade, curriculum of the two different university major fields, there were no statistically meaningful results. There is the need to keep entrance selection systems that open the possibility of selecting the students with other academic background. And there is the need to change general awareness assuming that there are differences in academic achievements by university major fields. We need to guide students with belief of their learning possibility.

A Study on the Development of a Contracted Education Program Model for the Korean Dual Education System (일학습병행을 위한 계약학과 운영모델 개발 연구)

  • As job mismatch intensifies in the employment market, the work based learning has emerged as a solution to this social problem. The so called Korean dual education system is expected to raise jobseekers equipped with knowledge and skills demanded by industry. This study intends to recommend an effective operational model for contracted education programs at higher institutions in order to support soft landing of Korean dual education system. Students of contracted education programs are adults graduated from vocational high schools and working for companies during weekdays. In consideration of the difficulties experienced by employee students, more flexible operation of academic affairs is required. To address these challenges, the recommended contracted education model includes such beneficial features as S-OJT courses, standard curriculum based on National Competency Standard, recognition of prior learning, flipped classroom, and tutoring system. In the last part, several directions for implementing the new contracted education model are discussed.
