Study on the Effect of the Bearing Capacity Support of tunnel by Steel Rib in the Colluvial Soils (붕적층 지반에 적용된 터널에서 강재의 지보효과에 대한 연구)

  • The entrance and the exit structures of tunnels are often constructed on unfavorably soft soils (colluvial soils) as a result of environment-friendly design highlighted in recent years. For construction of such a tunnel, it is essential to secure sufficient bearing capacity of the lining supports as well as that of the surrounding soils. In this regard, H-shape steel-ribs with high stiffness are commonly used for lining supports. However, it was the past convention to ignore the effect of the steel-ribs in numerical evaluation of the structural safety. This study is intended to show how the shotcrete stresses are relieved by the steelribs, on the basis of numerical data obtained from 3-dimensional finite element analysis. The effect of steel ribs to shotcrete stresses is examined at different levels of application rates, i.e., 0%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the total stiffness. The data obtained from numerical analysis was compared with in-situ measurement. The effect of st eel ribs to shotcrete stresses was verified and appropriate total stiffness was proposed in the range of 50%~75%.

  • The PSK (Pre-shared Secret Key) based method is appropriate for the IoT environment consisting of lightweight devices since this method requires less computing time and energy than the method to configure the session key based on the public key algorithm. A fundamental prerequisite for the PSK based method is that PSK should have been configured between the communication entities safely in advance. However, in case of a small sensor or actuator, no input and output interface such as keyboard and monitor required for configuration exists, so it is more difficult to configure PSK for such lightweight devices safely in the IoT environment than the previous Internet devices. Especially, normal users lack expertise in security so they face difficulty in configuration. Therefore, the default value configured at the time of manufacturing at factories is used or the device installer configures PSK in most cases. In such case, it is a matter for consideration whether all installers and manufacturers can be trusted or not. In order to solve such problem, this paper proposes a secure bootstrapping scheme, which utilizes the NFC (Near Field Communication) as an OOB (Out-Of-Band) channel, for lightweight devices with limited resources.

  • In recent, the interests of multi-user systems have been increased. Multi-user systems allow a number of users to access the system simultaneously. Security is one of the key issues to be addressed in a multi-user environment. We propose a solution based on the NTFS file system that provides the personal data security and considers the convenience of users. The system increases the convenience of users by simplifying the complexity of the security setting on NTFS. We also propose a variety of policies that prevent from the conflicts incurring when different users set up the personal folders simultaneously and do not set up the important folders such as the window system folders as personal folders. In addition, our system supports the function of setting up the prohibition folder lists so that no one can not set the folder to their personal folders.

  • In this paper, we propose differential-logging method to improve the performance of RMW(Read Modify Write) operations of DDR-SSD based software RAID. Small writes that are frequently occurred in enterprise applications are main factor to degrade the performance of RAID5. Once a block is updated in RAID5, the parity block of the block must be updated to maintain consistency of parity. Therefore, to process a small write request, we need to read its parity block stored in disk, read old data, perform XOR operation, and write updated data and parity block. Several methods for hard disk based software RAID are proposed to solve the small write problems in RAID 5. Ln this paper, we propose a differential-logging method which carefully considers the DDR-SSD to solve the small write problem in RAID 5. We show that our proposed method out performs the existing software RAID in LINUX through simulations.

  • In this paper, we proposed a vehicle recognition and electronic toll collection system with detection and classification of vehicle identification mark and emblem as well as recognition of vehicle license plate to unman toll fee collection system or incoming/outcoming vehicles to an institution. In the proposed algorithm, we first process pre-processing step such as noise reduction and thinning from the rear side input image of vehicle and detect vehicle mark, emblem and license plate region using intensity variation informations, template masking and labeling operation. And then, we classify the detected vehicle features regions into vehicle mark and emblem as well as recognize characters and numbers of vehicle license plate using hybrid and seven segment pattern vector. To show the efficiency of the proposed algorithm, we tested it on real vehicle images of implemented vehicle recognition system in highway toll gate and found that the proposed method shows good feature detection/classification performance regardless of irregular environment conditions as well as noise, size, and location of vehicles. And also, the proposed algorithm may be utilized for catching criminal vehicles, unmanned toll collection system, and unmanned checking incoming/outcoming vehicles to an institution.

Effect of Multiple Antennas at a Relay Node on the Performance of Physical-Layer Network Coding in Two-Way Relay Channel (양방향 중계채널에서 중계기 다중안테나가 물리계층네트워크 코딩의 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, we investigate the effect of multiple antennas at a relay node on the performance of physical-layer network coding (PNC) in the two-way relay channel (TWRC). We assume that two source nodes have a single antenna and the relay node has multiple antennas. We extend the conventional TWRC environment with a signle antenna at both relay and source nodes to the case of multiple antennas at the relay node. In particular, we consider two decoding strategies: separate decoding (SD) and direct decoding (DD). The SD decodes each packet from the two sources and performs the network coding with bit-wise exclusive OR (XOR) operation, while the DD decodes the network-coded packet from the two sources. Note that both decoding strategies are based on log-likelihood ratio (LLR) computation. It is shown that the bit error rate (BER) performance becomes significantly improved as the number of antennas at the relay node.

GA-based parameter identification of DC motors (DC 모터의 GA 기반 파라미터 추정)

  • In order to design the speed controller of the DC motor system, firstly, parameters estimation of the system must be preceded. In this paper, we proposed the application of genetic algorithm(GA) optimization in estimating the parameters of DC motor. Estimated models are considered both first and second order models, and each estimated model is optimized by minimizing three different types of the evaluation function of GA. Also, GA is imported in comparison with estimation result of numerical analysis method because of its power in searching entire solution space with more probability of finding the global optimum. Data for parameter estimation is acquired from input and output signals of the actual experiment device and the butterworth filter also designs for removing noise in the signals. Finally comparison between real data of the actual device and estimated models is presented to indicate effectiveness and resolution of proposed identification method.

  • Personal general purpose computer(PC) has been evolved from desktop to portable mobile device such as tablet PC and PDA. Technology innovation on semiconductor have made it possible to package a reasonably Powerful Processor and memory subsystem with advanced input/output devices. At last these subsystems are miniaturized into wearable system. Wearable computer has recently gained attention as the post PC in the ubiquitous environment. Wearable computing becomes more and more feasible and receives growing attention throughout industry and the consumer marketplaces. This paper proposed and developed WPS that has multimedia features and network features as a wearable embedded platform. We explain the form, overall architecture, functions and user applications of this WPS. This paper also discusses the form of next generation computer platform with intuitive user interfaces and well designed applications in the future.

  • Recently construction projects become more bigger. So construction companies have being performed cost and schedule management task by using PMIS. In engineering and construction phase, progress management which occur the most frequent information I/O(input and output) should be managed effectively by PMIS. Although most information by PMIS manage efficiently, cost-schedule information for progress management is difficult to be managed due to recurrent information input. thus when changed by price fluctuation and change order, progress management could not connnect cost information with schedule information. So it caused inaccuracy of progress measurement and data increase in PMIS. To solve this problem, This study suggests improved module for progress management through integration of cost-schedule using quantity take-offs as progress measurement method.

  • In this paper, we study on design of vehicle control system which is based on ${\mu}C/OS-II$, We component a electric motor drive system for simulator because the most of vehicle part use electric motor for actuator. We use the XC2287 microcontroller which is often used vehicle body controller because XC2287 guarantee high confidence and durability in vehicle industry. The electric motor control system derive PWM from general I/O port in XC2287 microcontroller. The signal is supplied at electric motor after amplifying that using driver circuit. The user control duty of PWM signal through controlling potentiometer which is connected to XC2287. through that, the user control speed of electric motor. we synchronize both input process via controlling potentiometer and PWM output process using semaphore. we verify porting of ${\mu}C/OS-II$ via experimentation.
