This research studiedthe correlation between dental implant patients' oral hygiene behaviors and satisfaction. By doing so, this study seeks to provide the basic data for the development of diagonal and educational programs to improve implant prosthesis maintenance and satisfaction. The data was collected from January 7 to June 30, 2014, analyzed by SAS (ver 9.2) and for this research, 6 dental hospitals and clinics in Daegu, Busan and Jinju, South Korea were examined for their implant patients receiving treatment. As a result, a total of 266 sets of data were investigated herein to reach the following findings: 1. The survey on status of dental implant prosthesis use and maintenance knowledge found 1.41 on average out of the total score of 3. 2. In the survey on implant prosthesis maintenance after putting in, the dental scaling cycle was found to be 'none' (63.2%). 3. In the survey on implant use status and satisfaction with their implant prosthesis, the masticatory function (p=0.001) were found to be significantly higher in the group using such oral-hygiene goods. 4. In the correlation analysis among one's knowledge on dental implant maintenance, discomfort and satisfaction, it was found that the more they used oral-hygiene supplementary goods (${\beta}=0.095$), the more they had knowledge on implant maintenance (${\beta}=0.069$) and the more they experienced oral health education (${\beta}=0.032$), the higher their satisfaction levels were. It is deemed that, for enhanced satisfaction of dental implant patients, their maintenance behaviors need to be further improved through oral health educational programs.
Treatment options for partially edentulous patients are fixed partial denture, removable partial denture and implant supported fixed partial denture. In case of a patient with a few remaining teeth, removable partial denture and implant supported fixed prosthesis are available. For implant fixed prothesis, enough implant fixtures are required and the patient's general condition, local factors and economic status must be considered. When the condition of the abutments and the residual ridge is favorable and the prosthesis is well designed, removable partial denture can be an option. In removable partial denture, the bilateral support is important. If the teeth remain unilateral, harmful stress is put on the abutments by the fulcrum line. In this situation, strategic implantation and implant-retained or assisted removable partial denture is beneficial to the retention and support of the denture. And this can be cost-effective, functional and esthetic choice of treatment. This article describes the prosthodontic rehabilitation of Maxillary Kennedy class I partially edentulous patients. In these two cases, the patients had a small number of teeth and they were restored by the combination of a removable partial denture and dental implants.

There are various treatment options such as conventional complete denture, hybrid prosthesis and implant-supported fixed prosthesis for fully edentulous patients. In case of implant-supported fixed prosthesis, compared to removable prosthesis, it is difficult to place the implant in the correct position considering the anatomical contours of the final prosthesis. In this case, a full mouth rehabilitation with implant-supported fixed prosthesis was performed for a patient who required extraction of all remaining teeth due to dental caries and chronic periodontitis. In the implant placement stage, the implant was placed in the desired position using a surgical guide fabricated considering the anatomical contours of the final prosthesis, and the function and esthetics were evaluated through correction and re-fabrication of the fixed provisional restoration. A final restoration of porcelain fused to gold prosthesis was delivered to the patient based on the provisional restoration. To cope with complications such as loosening of screws and fracture of porcelain, a screw-retained type prosthesis was fabricated for the posterior part and a screw-cement-retained type prosthesis for the anterior part. As a result, the patient showed an improved prognosis in terms of functional and esthetics after the final prosthesis was delivered.

Excessive crown height space increases can cause crestal bone loss and screw loosening after prosthesis is placed. Milled bar and implant overdenture can be used as a treatment method for partially edentulous patients who have severe alveolar bone loss and excessive crown height space. Milled bar can provide primary splinting effect and stability between implants. Also, milled bar with additional retention device such as Advanced Dental Device-Treatment Of Choice (ADD-TOC) and magnet can provide additional retention force for implant overdenture. In this case, the patient has a partially edentulous mandible that has severe alveolar bone loss and multiple number of teeth loss after excision due to leiomyosarcoma. Because of the long-term loss of mandibular molars, the opposing teeth were extruded. Maxillary left molars were corrected to the occlusal plane through molar intrusion, and mandibular left molar region were treated with implant overdenture, using milled bar with ADD-TOC and magnet after implant placement. The clinical result was satisfactory on the aspect of esthetic and masticatory function.
Purpose: The study analyzed the prevalence of peri-implantitis and factors which may have affected the disease. Materials and methods: This study based on medical records and radiographs of 422 patients (853 implant cases) who visited Ewha Womans University Mokdong Hospital Dental Center from January 1, 2012 to December 31, 2016. Generalized estimation equations (GEE) was utilized to determine the statistical relationship between peri-implantitis and each element, and the cumulative prevalence of peri-implantitis during the observation period was obtained by using the Kaplan Meier Method. Results: The prevalence rate of peri-implantitis at the patient level resulted in 7.3% (31 patients out of a total of 422 patients), and at the implant level 5.5% (47 implants out of a total of 853 implants). Sex, GBR, guided bone regeneration (GBR) and functional loading periods had statistical significance with the occurrence of peri-implantitis. Upon analysis of the cumulative prevalence of peri-implantitis in terms of implant follow-up period, the first case of peri-implantitis occurred at 9 months after the placement of an implant, and the prevalence of peri-implantitis showed a non-linear rise over time without a hint of a critical point. Conclusion: The prevalence of peri-implantitis at the patient level and the implant were 7.3% and 5.5%, respectively. Male, implant installed with GBR and longer Functional Loading Periods were related with the risk of peri-implantitis.
Nowadays, dental implant is one of the widely used treatment options for edentulous patients. Recently, a method of improving the accuracy of implant surgery using an implant surgical guide has been introduced and widely used in order to accurately place the implant in a proper position. Full-guided and half-guided implant surgery can be distinguished according to the level of surgical guide application during the implant surgery. It is true that full-guided implant surgery exhibits higher accuracy, but half- guided implant surgery is often performed in a clinical situation due to the factors such as the circumstances of the operation. A partially edentulous patient who lost teeth due to tooth fracture and periodontal disease was treated using implant and fixed prosthesis. Half-guided implant surgery was performed using an implant surgical guide during implant surgery, the accuracy of implant placement was analyzed.

Purpose: This study is to evaluate the clinical significance of the platform switching concept by comparing the marginal bone loss around platform-matched and platform-switched implants. Materials and Methods: Date of implant placement, diameter, length, implant-abutment connection type and absence of splinting prosthesis were investigated on patients who performed treatment with implant placement at Wonkwang University Dental Hospital Implant Center. To measure the marginal bone loss around implants, periapical radiographs of patient were used when implant was placed and when visited the center most recently by using the program, Emago advanced v5.6. Results: As a result of observing on 150 implants of 82 patients for 6 - 63 months, platform-matched implants showed $1.16{\pm}0.54mm$, platform-switched implants showed $0.68{\pm}0.27mm$ of marginal bone loss. Conclusion: It was considered that there is the positive effect to reduce marginal bone loss around platform-switched implants.

The purpose of this report is to suggest clinical managements of implant periapical lesions by presenting three clinical cases managed by either the infected form or the inactive form with the follow-up period of five to twelve years. One patient with no clinical symptom was regarded as inactive form. Two patients having pain were regarded as infected form and have been under the systemic antibiotic therapy. In one patient, the symptom subsided and the size of radiolucent lesion decreased. However, the other patient showed increased size of lesion causing the implant unstable, which leaded to remove the implant and to replace it. There was neither additional increase of the lesion nor functional problem for all three. It is important to detect implant periapical lesion in early stage before jeopardizing the stable implant and manage properly using systemic antibiotic therapy and surgical approach if needed, depending on infected form and inactive form.
Purpose: This study is to evaluate the clinical significance of implantation with simultaneous bone graft by comparing the marginal bone loss around maxillary anterior implants with or without bone graft. Materials and methods: Patients treated with implant-retained restorations on maxillary anterior region at Implant Center, Dental Hospital, Wonkwang University between June 2011 and May 2014 were included in this study. Date of implant placement, implant diameter, implant length, implant-abutment connection type and whether the bone graft was done were investigated. The patient's periapical radiographs taken immediately after implantation and at the most recent visit were compared. Marginal bone loss was measured using Emago advanced v5.6 program (Oral diagnostic systems, Amsterdam, Netherlands). Statistical analysis was done in independent t-test by using SPSS 22.0 program. Results: As a result of observing on 83 implants (without bone graft: 44, with bone graft: 39) of 52 patients for 6 - 45 months (average: 18.4 months), implants without bone graft showed $1.42{\pm}0.42mm$, implants with bone graft showed $1.28{\pm}0.45mm$ of marginal bone loss. Conclusion: In limitations of this study, implants with simultaneous bone graft had significantly less marginal bone loss than implants without bone graft.

Among many contributing factors of implant failure, excessive loading and inflammation contribute mainly to increasing implant failure rate. Especially, poor oral hygiene around implants is one of the most common reasons for implant failure. When implant prosthesis fails to function, the clinician should re-diagnose and plan treatment using the remaining implants. Additional implantation may be needed to make a new type of prosthesis or either implant-assisted RPD and implant overdenture treatment may be performed using the remaining implants. In this article, a patient whose fixed implant prosthesis in the maxilla had failed of poor oral hygiene maintenance was reported to be recovered with removable implant overdenture by using remaining implant abutments and a milled bar with additional retentive elements. Through this treatment, the clinical results were satisfactory in terms of esthetics, masticatory function recovery and oral hygiene management.
