Purpose: Evidence-based practice (EBP) has emerged as a marker for healthcare quality and a global issue in nursing care. This study was conducted to identify Korean registered nurses' knowledge, attitudes, and practice about EBP in Korea. Methods: With a cross-sectional design, the EBP questionnaire (EBPQ) was administered to a convenience sample of nurses (N=453) recruited from 44 general hospitals. To increase the response rate, the directors of nursing were individually contacted by the researchers. The final response rate was 95.7%. Results: The majority of participants were females (99.3%), staff nurses (57.8%), and with bachelors degree (40.6%). Most of them (314, 73.4%) had ever heard about EBP. The overall mean score for the EBPQ was $4.72{\pm}0.69$ out of maximum score of 7. The mean score for the knowledge of EBP, attitudes towards EBP, and practice/use of EBP were $4.61{\pm}0.75$, $4.85{\pm}0.94$, and $4.90{\pm}0.88$, respectively. Educational level, age, and exposure to EBP were statistically significant predictors of Korean nurses' EBP perception. Conclusion: The findings showed that nurses with higher education are more likely to use and value the best available evidence for practice. This study suggests needs not only for further exploration but also for developing educational plans provided by each institute to assist nurses with the process of EBP and the associated skills.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the actual utilization of clinical practice guidelines developed by Hospital Nurses Association. Methods: The subjects were 70 nurses who were in charge of guideline distributions in 70 advanced general hospital and general hospitals with 500 beds or more nationwide. Data were collected between June and August, 2020 by mail (return rate: 88.6%). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA with SPSS/WIN 24.0. Results: Among the clinical practice guidelines developed by Hospital Nurses Association, 72.9~90.1% were placed with book and electronic file in nursing department and 24.3~35.8% were placed with book and electronic file in each nursing unit at hospital. The average number of utilized clinical practice guidelines were 3.96±3.88, and average score of guideline utilization was score 2.85±0.79 which means 'use sometimes'. Conclusion: To improve the distribution and utilization of the clinical practice guidelines, it is necessary to enhance the recognition of values of evidence based nursing practice targeting head of nursing department and to stimulate the distribution and utilization of the clinical practice guidelines using diverse education programs for staff nurses.
Purpose: This descriptive survey study aimed to examine the effects of grit, social support, job crafting, and evidence-based practice competency on job satisfaction among nurses. Methods: The participants of this study were 211 clinical nurses with experience of more than six months. Data were collected using through an online survey from February 1 to February 17, 2023. The questionnaires was consisted of general characteristics, grit, social support, job crafting, evidence-based practice competency, and job satisfaction. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics(frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation), t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis with the SPSS/WIN 28.0 program. Results: The average scores of the main variables were 3.08±0.44 out of four for grits, 3.67±0.52 out of five for social support, 4.20±0.64 out of five for job crafting, 4.84±0.71 out of seven for evidence-based practice competency, and 3.72±0.55 out of five for job satisfaction. In the regression model, the factors affecting the nurses' job satisfaction were grit (β=0.66, p<.001) and social support (β=0.11, p=.046), which explained 78.7% of the variance in job satisfaction. Job crafting and evidence-based practice competency were correlated with job satisfaction; however, there was no statistically significant effects of these variables on job satisfaction. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, grit and social support showed the most significant effects on the job satisfaction of nurses. Therefore, active support is needed to develop a strategy to improve nurses' grit and to create a supportive work environment, which would be helpful to increase their job satisfaction.

The purpose of this study is to measure and evaluate the degree of the pain using tools such as faces, glasses, chips, and colors for 96 children in three general hospitals. The children preferred faces, glasses, chips and colors in order, and they preferred orange color for pain-free and black for intense pain. The pain score was significantly high with the children who did not have experience in hospital except colors tool in the difference by means of general characteristics(faces, glasses, chips; p<0.05). Faces, glasses, chips, colors tools are pain assessment tools which are easy simple to handle by children including family and medical personnel. We expect these tools will be used in many ways to assess pain according to a child's age in a clinical setting.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of web-based learning for ventilator practice on the knowledge and clinical competence of nursing students. Method: The research design was a non-equivalent control group pre-post non-synchronized design. Twenty five nursing students were collected for the experimental group from August 23 to November 26, 2004 and nineteen nursing students for the control group from August 22 to November 25, 2005. All subjects experienced clinical practices in an intensive care unit of a hospital in G city for 2 weeks. The web-based learning for ventilator practice was conducted in the experimental group only. The data were analyzed with t-test and ANCOVA using SPSS 10.1 program. Result: The 2 week web-based clinical practice learning significantly improved the knowledge scores for the experimental group, however, there was no significant differences in the score for the clinical competence between experimental and control group. Conclusion: These findings suggest that a self-directed web-based learning for ventilator practice of nursing students can facilitate the knowledge of care for a ventilated patient. Therefore, faculties should develop a variety of web-based multimedia content programs for clinical instruction based on clinical situation.
Purpose : The purpose of this research was to verify the effects of the clinical practice and the educational satisfaction through internship program on students of health-related majors. Methods : We investigated 120 students using a self-reporting method with experience of internship program. A statistical analysis was performed using SPSS 17.0 for window version. Results : It showed that educational satisfaction had scored 4.18 in curriculum, 4.16 in environment, 4.16 in schedule, 4.32 in teaching and 3.82 in evaluation, 4.21 in satisfaction for clinical practice. Conclusion : It was revealed by this survey that the educational satisfaction of internship program in school hospital had higher score in curriculum, environment, schedule, evaluation, teaching and clinical practice. To maximize the effects of internship program, a clinical internship program in school hospital is needed and further research and attention are suggested.

Purpose: After developing and imparting knowledge of a simulation-based emergency airway management education program for nursing students, this study identified the effects of the education by evaluating emergency airway management knowledge, Clinical Performance Ability, self-efficacy, and critical thinking disposition. Method: The participants were 30 nursing students. Data were collected from October 14 to November 11, 2017, and analyzed using IBM SPSS Version 22.0. Results: The simulation-based nursing education program was developed and applied based on the ADDIE model involving five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. Comparing the pre-and post-education results, we observed statistically significant improvement when considering emergency airway management knowledge (t=-9.98, p<0.001), Clinical Performance Ability (t=-23.90, p<0.001), self-efficacy (t=-16.77, p<0.001), and critical thinking disposition (t=-5.04, p<0.001). Conclusions: Simulation-based emergency airway management training program is an effective educational program that enhances the emergency airway management knowledge, Clinical Performance Ability, self-efficacy, and critical thinking disposition of nursing students. We believe that the program developed in this study contributes towards improvement of patient nursing quality by enhancing the ability of nursing students to cope with emergencies in practice. Furthermore, it can be applied for educating new nursing students, and contribute to the development of nursing practices.
The clinical practice program for home care nurses was implemented in June 1994, to help to set up a hospital-based home care system in the Kwangju City area as a collaborative work between the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Chunnam University Hospital and Chunnam University School of Nursing. Under the developed clinical practice strategy, the eight week training was given to five licensed home care nurses who had completed Part I and II of the home health care nursing practicum from June 1994. The purpose of this descriptive evaluation study was to identify the effectiveness of the clinical practice program for home care nurses specialized in the area of patient care for people with musculoskeletal function impairment. As a method in data analysis, data triangulation was used in the five home care nurse case evaluations. The variety of data analyzed include confidence score by home care nurse self-evaluation, patient and family member satisfaction scores, and competency score by preceptor evaluation. The study findings revealed that an increase rate in nursing performance didrate necessarily coincide with an increase not in competency score and also, not with the patient /family member satisfaction scores. And an order derived from the clinical performance scores of five home care nurses corresponded to those from three measurements-competency score, patient satisfaction score, and family member satisfaction score. However, it differed from the order associated with the confidence score. Consistency derived from the three objective evaluation methods may lead to the possibility that the level of competency measured by educator can be further explained by the levels of patient/family member satisfaction. The salient finding of this study was that, in case of nurse A who have had little clinical experience in the orthopedic patient care, there was a significant increase in the level of confidence and competency in subscale of professional skill with the home care clinical practice. Therefore, the effect of the clinical practice program would be successful for nurses who have had little experience in the area of specialization. The study results suggest that there might be some time difference in the development of cognitive sense (confidence) in performance and actual clinical performance (competency). In future research, relationships between the confidence and competency score, and between the confidence score and the patient satisfaction score should to be measured in different time frame to achieve a better explanation power of the study outcome.

Purpose: This study was to develop evidence-based clinical practice guideline in order to prevent contrastinduced nephropathy (CIN) for patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods: The guideline was developed based on the "Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN)". The first draft of guideline was developed through 5 stages and evaluated by 10 experts.(1) Clinical questions were ensured in PICO format.(2) Two researchers conducted a systematic search through electronic database, identifying 170 studies. We selected 27 full text articles including 16 randomized clinical trials, 7 systematic reviews, and 4 guidelines. Quality of each studies were evaluated by the Cochran's Risk of Bias, AMSTAR, K-AGREEII. Among the studies, 11 studies were excluded.(3) The strength of recommendations were classified and quality of recommendations were ranked.(4) Guideline draft was finalized.(5) Content-validation was conducted by an expert group. All contents were ranked above 0.8 in CVI. Results: Evidence-based clinical practice guideline to prevent CIN was dveloped.(1) The guideline for preventing CIN recommends using 0.9% saline.(2) Standardized rate of fluid therapy is 1 to 1.5ml/kg/hr.(3) Execute hydration for 6~12hrs before PCI and after PCI. Conclusion: This study suggests evidence-based clinical practice guideline for preventing CIN which can be more efficiently used in clinical practice.

This triangulation study was performed in order to analyze the team competency effect of a capstone design nursing research course, and to appraise the content of team activity experiences. Subjects were 99 nursing students who were educated in the capstone design nursing research at D university. The teamwork competency of nursing students was compared before and after class, and the team activity experiences in the capstone design nursing research class was analyzed through narrative data. Our results show significant increases after class in task performance competency (t=-2.166, p=0.033), which includes goal execution competency (t=-2,224, p=0.028). In the interpersonal competency category, leadership was significantly increased after class (t=-2.085, p=0.040). The 5 categories evaluated were 'difficulties in managing resources', 'aware of the importance of personal effort and competency', 'efforts to effectively distribute roles', 'to realize the importance of communication', and 'strengthen the competency needed for clinical practice'. Through this research, we confirm that the capstone design nursing research course is effective for improving teamwork competency, and it provides a positive team activity experience to nursing students. Taken together, our findings indicate that the capstone design nursing research course can be applied to improve the nursing research competency by strengthening teamwork competency.
