A Study on Effects of the Convergence of Story Character Phonics on Preschoolers' Early Reading Development (영어동화와 융합한 스토리 캐릭터 파닉스 교육이 유아의 초기 읽기 발달에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • The Effects of the Story Character Phonics on Preschoolers' Early Reading Abilities and Affective Domains The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the story character phonics on preschoolers' early reading abilities (phonemic awareness and phonics abilities) and their affective domains. 24 participants in the present study were seven years old, and they were divided into two different groups at S kindergarten in Chungnam. There were 12 preschoolers in the experimental group with the story character phonics, and 12 preschoolers in the control group learned English by the story phonics focusing on phonemic awareness and vocabulary for 6 weeks. The results were as follows: First, the story character phonics was more effective in improving the preschoolers' early reading abilities than using the story phonics. Secondly, the story character phonics had some positive effects on the preschoolers' affective domains. This study proved that practicing with the story character phonics is more effective for preschoolers to develop their early reading abilities of English and their affective domains.

Effects of Correlated Color Temperature of LED Light Sources and a Flourescent Light Source on Visual Performance (LED광원과 형광광원의 상관색온도가 시작업 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • Recently, from an environmental conservative point of view, the need of high-efficiency lighting system, using LED(Light Emitting Diode) light sources have been increased. However, applied LED light sources without regard to its color and pattern provide visual discomfort to occupant. The objective of this study is not only to evaluate the performance of task work under different correlated color temperature condition, but also furnish the preliminary data as concerning its purpose and user of inner space. For the purpose of this study, two types of LED light sources and a fluorescent light source were selected. Thirty undergraduate students served as the participants. Two different task work sheets were conducted to evaluate the accuracy and duration of time. Results from subjective performance, task work of error modification showed that LED light sources were 2.5[%] higher in accuracy with 17.1[%] lower duration than a fluorescent light source. In the case of reading task work, It is presented 20.6[%] decrease with the LED light sources comparison with a fluorescent light source.

  • Recently, as the number of entities participating in the Grid system increased, the response time of LDAP system became inadequate. Consequently, we have to design new LDAP that suitable for high performance Grid environments. For this, researches about analysis of performance LDAP system are needed firstly. However, because researches are focused mostly on read operation optimized environments, so these result of researches are not directly applied to high performance Grid environments that write operation occupies most. In this paper, we provide overall results of analysis of performance of LDAP system with respect to number of node, query arrival rate, probability of read and so on. The analysis is based on in analytic performance model by applying the M/M/1 queuing model. Finally, based on the results, we suggest the direction for the design of high performance LDAP system and this research results can be applied as basic materials to design of GIS in high performance Grid environments as well as.

An analysis of Adolescents' media literacy: How do they read, write, and enjoy information and communication media? (읽기, 쓰기, 향유 체험을 중심으로 본 청소년의 미디어 리터러시 분석)

  • This study aimed to find out adolescents' media literacy in terms of reading, writing, and enjoying media or messages. For the purpose, we analyzed the data garnered from 1,036 students enrolled in 5 middle and 5 high schools, respectively. The analyses of the data are summarized as follows: First, mobile phone was most widely used among others, followed by TV, the Internet, mp3 player, computer or video game, radio, a video or DVD in the order. Second, a gender effect was significant in terms of the variety of activities with the Internet, mobile, and SNS: boys were more active in the use of the Internet while girls carried out more activities with a mobile phone and SNS media. Third, high school students showed more critical attitude towards information on the Website than did the middle school students. Fourth, Girls than boys, and high schoolers than middle schoolers, tended to be more active in the production of contents, self-expression, as well as participating in social and political issues online. Fifth, for the enjoyment experiences, time spent for games took up the most of the students' leisure activities, followed by watching TV and the use of the Internet. The findings of the study were discussed in light of media convergence, with implications for developing media literacy education for the youth.

A comparative study of coarticulation features between children with and without reading disability (읽기장애아동과 일반아동의 동시조음 특성 비교)

  • Coarticulation is affected by the continuous movement of the articulator within a limited time and space through the neighboring segments and various overlaps. This study investigated the differences in coarticulation characteristics of children with reading disabilities and nondisabled children in CVC and VCV syllables consisted of stops, affricates, and vowels (a, i, u). The subjects were 13 children with reading disabilities and nondisabled children in the 2nd to 6th grades in elementary school. Two second formants were measured. One was measured at the point where the vowel began, and the other was measured at the mid point of the vowel stable section. Regression analysis was performed with F2 onset and F2 of the following vowel to obtain the locus equation (LE). 3-way ANOVA was conducted to the slope of the LE according to the groups (reading disabilities vs. nondisabled), places of articulation, and phonation types. In CVC syllable, dyslexic children showed a flatter slope than nondisabled children. With respect to the places of articulation, velar or bilabial sounds showed steeper LE slope than alveolar or palatal sounds. There were no main effects regarding group and phonation types variable for VCV syllable, and the significant differences in the places of articulation were also differed from the results for the CVC syllables. This study confirmed that dyslexic children showed a different pattern of coarticulation slope depending on the syllable structure. We also found that the higher pause rate of the dyslexic children had a stronger effect on the coarticulation in VCV structures.

  • 초등학교 통합학급에서의 교육은 과거의 분리교육에서 벗어나 포함교육을 지향하고 있다. 어느 정도의 장애를 떠나 일반학급에서 통합교육을 받고자 한다면 수용하고 그에 해당하는 교육과정과 필요한 지원을 하여야 한다. 특히 통합학급에서 아이들에게 교육하는데 있어서 정보매체를 활용한다면 교육적 효과는 다른 매체 보다 뛰어남을 알 수 있다. 과거의 셈하기와 읽기, 쓰기 교육에서 벗어나 생활중심의 교육이 강조되고 있는 취지에 적절한 정보매체를 활용한다면 보다 질 높은 교육이 이루어짐은 당연할 것이다. 하지만 통합학급의 특수교육 대상아동의 경우 여러 장애를 가지고 있으며 그 유형에 따라 다양한 매체들을 필요로 한다. 하지만 통합학급 환경은 그 필요성과는 달리 어떤 것들을 구비하고 있으며, 활용 실태는 어떻게 되는지 기준 안이 다소 미흡한 것으로 나타나고 있다. 그에 따른 통합학급의 정보매체의 활용실태 분석을 통하여 장애아동 유형별 갖추어야할 시설과 환경 및 자료들은 어떤 것들이 있는지 개선방안을 본 연구를 통해 제시해보고자 하는데 있다.

  • 인터넷의 급격한 발달은 새로운 교육매체를 등장시키고 있다. 인터넷 동화는 인터넷의 발달과 함께 등장한 독서교육의 새로운 대안이며 이미 아동들에게는 친숙한 매체가 되었다. 학교에서도 인터넷 동화는 교사가 쉽게 이용할 수 있는 하나의 교육자료로 자리 잡고 있다. 아동의 창의성 발달을 위한 교육방법인 독서교육과 인터넷 동화를 관련지었을 때 전통적인 독서교육에서 이용하는 인쇄동화와 새로운 매체인 인터넷 동화는 읽기 이해도에서는 큰 차이가 없다고 할 수 있다. 그렇다면 인터넷 동화와 인쇄동화는 아동의 창의성 발달에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 알아보고자 한다.

Writing Korean Numerals in Technical Writing (기술문에서 우리말 숫자 쓰기)

  • There is a problem that some spoken words are not consistent with the written words when Arabic numerals in Korean language are read. Since some rules for reading the Arabic numerals are not clear, the numerals should be read carefully by recognizing the position of the numbers in sentence, the relationship of the numerals with measurement nouns and other writing elements, and context. In view of technical writing, this work is to appreciate some rules for writing Korean numerals in place of Arabic numerals by studying the works regarding numerals, classifiers and measurement nouns.

국립과천과학관 1-m 반사망원경을 활용한 4K CCD 테스트 관측

  • 국립과천과학관은 2008년 11월에 개관하였고, 천체관측소에는 직경 1-m 반사망원경과 4k CCD카메라, UBVRI Filter system이 설치되어있다. 국립과천과학관 관측시스템의 시야는 28.16각분이고, CCD카메라는 Cryogenic 방식의 냉각으로 $-110^{\circ}C$ 정도로 냉각할 수 있다. 또한 CCD카메라는 4개의 증폭기(Amplifier)를 이용하여 읽기 시간을 줄일 수 있도록 설계되어 있다. 이 연구는 국립과천과학관 관측시스템을 과학적인 목적으로 사용하기 위해 기기적인 특성을 먼저 알아보기 위함이며 진행 중에 있다. 현재까지 관측한 자료를 바탕으로 시간에 따른 영점영상의 변화, 노출시간에 따른 암전류 영상의 변화, 증폭기 에 따른 영점영상의 차이 등을 분석하였다.

  • 본 연구는 국가교육과정에서 문자 교육 입문기인 초등학교 1학년을 대상으로 하여 글자크기와 성별에 따른 가독성 차이를 알아보기 위한 연구로서 초등학교 1학년 학생에게 교과서 본문에 쓰이는 글자 크기는 실제 학습에 있어 가독성에 유의미한지 초등학교 1학년 학생들은 성별에 따라 본문 읽기는 어떤 다른 가독성 효과를 보이는지에 대하여 살펴보았다. 본 논문 주제에 대한 접근방법으로 먼저, 가독성의 개념, 가독성에 영향을 미치는 요소, 가독성 측정방법에 대한 고찰과 함께 초등학교 1학년 교과서 본문 글자 크기와 성별에 따라 가독성이 어떻게 달라지는지에 대하여 실험을 통하여 검증하였다. 초등학교 1학년 대상으로 글자 크기에 따른 가독성 차이를 살펴봄으로써 현행 교과서의 체제 개선에 필요한 기초 자료를 마련하고 성별에 따라 가독성 효과가 어떻게 차이가 나는지 살펴봄으로써 성별에 따른 남녀의 언어 발달 차이에 대한 이해와 성별에 따른 읽기 지도 전략에 시사점을 제공하고자 한다.
