Service robots are equipped with various sensors such as vision camera, sonar sensor, laser scanner, and microphones. Although these sensors have their own functions, some of them can be made to work together and perform more complicated functions. AudioFvisual fusion is a typical and powerful combination of audio and video sensors, because audio information is complementary to visual information and vice versa. Human beings also mainly depend on visual and auditory information in their daily life. In this paper, we conduct two studies using audioFvision fusion: one is on enhancing the performance of sound localization, and the other is on improving robot attention through sound localization and face detection.

Process synchronization is one of the most difficult subject for students learning the Operating System courses. It is due to the fact that concurrent process environment, where many events occur at the same time, is difficult to understand for ordinary human who thinks only one thing at a time. Classical synchronization examples like the Bounded buffer problem or the Dining philosopher problem fail to hook attention and interest from lower grade students who just begin to study the Operating System courses in college because these examples are either too technical or too unrealistic. In this paper we propose another synchronization example named the Bank account problem as an alternative to the classical ones. Bank account problem is proved to succeed getting high interest and understanding from the student as it is easy and realistic, and almost every student has the experience using bank account in real life. Various synchronization subjects including controlling the execution sequence of each process, incorrect result due to the race conditions, use of semaphores, deadlock, and monitor are considered to apply them to the Bank account problem.

Recently, consumer demand for safe but minimally processed food has rapidly increased. For this reason, many food processing industries are applying hurdle technology to enhance food safety, extend shelf life, and make foods appear minimally processed. Meanwhile, studies have shown that a treatment (stress) meant to inactivate foodborne pathogens may trigger adaptation mechanisms and could even offer cross protection against subsequent treatments. Also, certain routine farm practices such as antibiotic and herbicide use could result in the development of antibiotic-resistant pathogens. Such bacteria may be tolerant to food processing-associated stress and be more likely to remain viable in processed foods. In this review, we discuss the correlation between food processing-associated stress and antibiotic resistance. We also discuss molecular mechanisms such as the use of sigma factors, SOS response pathways and efflux pumps as means of cross protection against antimicrobial compounds and other food processing-associated stresses.

Recently, the weather has been influenced by the environmental pollution and the oil price has been risen because of the lack of resources. So, the weather and energy are influencing on not only enterprises or nations, but also individual daily life and economic activities very much. Because of these reasons, there are so many researches about management of solar radiation needed to develope solar energy as alternative energy. And many researchers are also interested in identifying the area according to changing characteristics of climate data. However, the researches have not developed how to apply the cluster analysis, retrieval and analytical results according to the characteristics of the area through data mining. In this paper, we design a data model of the data for storing and managing the climate data tested in twenty cities in the domestic area. And we provide the information according to the characteristics of the area after clustering the domestic climate data, using k-means clustering algorithm. And we suggest the way how to apply the department store and amusement park as an applied weather marketing. The proposed system is useful for constructing the database about the weather marketing and for providing the elements and analysis information.

It is well known that speech signals are the most riliable materials for the hearing test and there are various difficult problems in the selection of these materials. Because of these difficulties, there is not a confirmed test material of Korean speech sound up to date. For the basis of the test materials, author had studied articulation scores and confusion patterns of 100 monosyllable korean speech sounds in normal listners, in normal listners under various noisy (white noise and speech noise) circumstances, and in patients with hearing loss, The results reveal as follows. 1. Except for perceptive deafness with poor articulation score, Confusion was occured among initial consonants, vowels and final consonants respectively according to their distinctive features under above various test conditions. 2. There is remarkable differences in articulation scores between different kindes of noise under some intensity levels.

In this study, as a part of practical and customized smart contents development planning research related to smart fitness contents associated with smart wear that can monitor physical activity, we investigated the potential needs for smart fitness contents through research. As a result, the potential needs for smart fitness contents is 'accessibility to use', 'inducement of interest', 'diverse story line' were derived at the stage of 'before exercise', 'Real - time voice coaching', 'accurate exercise posture monitoring', and 'personalized exercise prescription' were derived at the stage of 'during exercise'. At the stage of 'after exercise', 'substantial reward system', 'grading system', 'body figure change monitoring' and 'everyday life monitoring' were derived. At the stage of 'connection to the next exercise', 'triggering exercise motivation', 'high sustainability' wear derived.

In his recent three papers, Joohan Lee defends the following three theses. First, an ordinary term 'believes' is polysemous in that it can refer to three different types of mental attitudes; that is, it can refer to a belief as an involuntary mental disposition, or a pragmatic acceptance as a voluntary mental action, or an epistemic acceptance as a different voluntary mental action. Second, a person's pragmatic acceptance of a proposition is his voluntary mental action which takes it to be true for pragmatic reasons, despite the fact that there is no adequate epistemic evidence for the proposition, whereas a person's epistemic acceptance of a proposition is his voluntary mental action which takes it to be true for epistemic reasons, despite the fact that there is a pragmatic reason to the contrary. Third, mental attitudes to which epistemic norms apply are epistemic acceptances as voluntary mental actions, rather than beliefs as involuntary mental dispositions. If these theses are correct, then they will have important implications for contemporary epistemology. In this paper, however, I argue that Joohan Lee is not successful in defending these theses.

Metaverse is a compound word of 'meta' and 'universe', which means transcendence and the world. It is a digital world where daily life and economic activities are possible. While the Metaverse is being actively used as an alternative space to enjoy leisure life since COVID-19, not much academic research on Metaverse in Korea has been done yet. Based on the previous research on Metaverse in Korea and overseas we conducted a typology analysis on cultural leisure-based Metaverse and a study on its key features. Considering the current situation in which the Metaverse era is blooming we also investigated the development trends of the Metaverse and related technologies at home and abroad. We also presented the direction of advancement of the cultural leisure-based Metaverse. This study differentiates itself from previous domestic and foreign studies by discovering and analyzing theoretical models, frameworks and features in terms of society, collaboration, and leisure use through case studies. It is meaningful that this research presents directions on further Metaverse research that reflect the current information technology (IT) and changes in life.

This qualitative study employed focused group interviews to collect data on the forgetfulness experienced by elderly persons (over the age of 65) who suffer with subjective memory impairment. The participants were ten elderly persons who participated in the cognitive function improvement program at an elderly welfare center in D city. They were divided into three groups that were comprised of three/four people each, and each group was interviewed for 40~60 minutes. The results showed that "difficulties in human relations", "feeling uncomfortable in daily life", "exposure to a safety risk", "inexpressible ambivalence" and "family effort to overcome forgetfulness" were all expressed in the interviews. The elderly who participated in this study and who complained of subjective memory impairment had both feelings of anxiety and anxiety about non-dementia, and they were making efforts to overcome forgetfulness themselves. Based on this study, we suggest that interventions should be developed that reflect the individual needs of elderly people with subjective memory impairment.

Emission characteristics from charbroiling of four different meats (beef, port, duck and chicken) in a pilot-scale cooking facility were investigated in this study. The analyzed air pollutants include gaseous species (CO, NO, $SO_2$, $NH_3$ and PAHs) as well as particulate matters (TSP, $PM_{10}$, $PM_{2.5}$ and black carbon). The emission factors of $PM_{10}$ and PAHs were in the range of 3~47 g-PM/kg-meat and 0.6~11.41 mg-PAHs/kg-meat, respectively, depending on the type of a meat. In addition, the results also revealed that the high ratio of $PM_{2.5}$ to TSP in a meat charbroiling should be considered to design and to operate air pollution control devices.
