The interests of education methods using Serious games have been increasing recently. But resu,lt-oriented game design framework have not been reflected intrinsic motivation. To increase usage of educational serious game as resource, it is needed game design framework for providing the immersion and collaborative active learning that cognitive Psychologic theories recommend. By outlining the background of the serious game design framework and exemplifying its use, a constructive structure to examine purposed based games is introduced.
This study seeks to verify how empathic concern and perspective-taking predict happiness by investigating the mediating effects of cognitive reappraisal. Online surveys about empathic concern, perspective-taking, cognitive reappraisal, and happiness were conducted by 336 adult subjects. First, the correlation analysis indicated that empathic concern and perspective-taking significantly predicted cognitive reappraisal and happiness, respectively. Second, cognitive reappraisal also significantly predicted happiness. Third, the cognitive reappraisal mediated the association between empathic concern and happiness and between perspective-taking and happiness. Specifically, people who emotionally and cognitively empathize with others reported higher levels of cognitive reappraisal, which allowed them to experience higher levels of happiness. These findings have confirmed that people can increase their happiness by enhancing cognitive reappraisal through emotional and cognitive empathy. Finally, the implications and limitations of the present research are discussed.
The purpose of this study was to develop the psychology-based naturalistic competency curriculum so that forest-related experts could fully play the role of a mediator between nature(forest) and human(visitors). The curriculum was designed in three parts: a pleasant life, a wise life, and a meaningful life. Contents were focused on recognizing and naming one's senses and emotions in nature, discovering nature-related memories and Naturalistic Intelligence, experiencing the flow in nature and activating the Default Mode Network. The curriculum supplemented by expert's advice was implemented as job training for forest-related experts, and the curriculum was finally revised by examining the understanding and utilization of the participants. As a result, the curriculum in three areas of emotion, cognition, and practice was completed. It is expected that this curriculum will be upgraded through evaluation in the future so that forest-related experts can provide more qualitative service by strengthening their naturalistic competency.
This article examines the relationship of career indecision, job search behavior, and employment among college seniors based on sub-scales of career indecision (lack of career information, lack of self-clarity, decisiveness, lack of necessity recognition, external Barrier). This study explored the effect of career indecision, job search behavior, and employment successes(number of application, number of interview, number of job offer) in longitudinal method. In result, career indecision had negative effect on job search behavior. In other words, the higher career indecision level is, the less job search behavior is performed. Especially, career indecision is connected with preparatory job search behavior and informal job search behavior. Another finding is that job search behavior in time 1 (first semester of college senior) had a strong effect on all of employment success variables in time 2(second semester of college senior). Finally, the theoretical and practical implications of this research were discussed. Based on the limitation of this study, several directions for future research were also suggested.
In this paper, we introduce the SNUDM-G, a diffusion model analysis tool with improved computational speed. Although the diffusion model has been applied to explain various cognitive tasks, its use was limited due to computational difficulties. In particular, SNUDM(Koh et al., 2020), one of the diffusion model analysis tools, has a disadvantage in terms of processing speed because it sequentially generates 20,000 data when approximating the diffusion process. To overcome this limitation, we propose to use graphic processing units(GPU) in the process of approximating the diffusion process with a random walk process. Since 20,000 data can be generated in parallel using the graphic processing units, the estimation speed can be increased compared to generating data through sequential processing. As a result of analyzing the data of Experiment 1 by Ratcliff et al. (2004) and recovering the parameters with SNUDM-G using GPU and SNUDM using CPU, SNUDM-G estimated slightly higher values for certain parameters than SNUDM. However, in term of computational speed, SNUDM-G estimated the parameters much faster than SNUDM. This result shows that a more efficient diffusion model analysis for various cognitive tasks is possible using this tool and further suggests that the processing speed of various cognitive models can be improved by using graphic processing units in the future.
The aims of this study were 1) to compare irrational gambling beliefs of gamblers and non-gamblers, 2) to investigate the role of cognitive error on winning probability thinking error, and 3) to examine the relationship between attributional bias and gambling behavior. A total of 248 subjects were recruited for this study. All subjects were classified into non-gamblers, social gamblers and pathological gamblers, and administered self-report questionnaires to measure irrational gambling beliefs, the probability inference error, the attriburional style, and the attributional bias. A pathological gambler group scored highest on irrational gambling beliefs, especially the overestimation of self-ability factor, and a social gambler group and a non-gambler group follow. All three groups scored higher on the magnification of gambling skills than the mean (4.0) of the scale. Pathological gamblers and social gamblers scored higher on the probability thinking error than non-gamblers. Pathological gamblers displayed higher external attribution, lower internal attribution in their daily life events and higher internal attribution in failure situation than social gamblers and non-gamblers. The results indicate that cognitive errors would be a factor that differentiates pathological gamblers from social gamblers and non-gamblers. In predicting gambling behaviors, overestimation of self-ability of irrational gambling beliefs, internal attribution in failure situation, external attribution in daily live event, and probability thinking error were identified as significant factors. It is concluded that a public education about common cognitive bias featured in gamblers might be important in prevention of pathological gambling behaviors.
The purpose of this study was to investigate psychological processes based on the Korean college students' development of social justice interest and commitment. For this study, we replicated Miller and colleagues'(2009) study, which explained the development of social justice interest and commitment by social-cognitive career theory(SCCT). Social desirability was controlled, and then self-reports data from 343 college students were analyzed using Structural Estimate Modeling(SEM). As a result, the final research model that social justice self-efficacy and outcome expectations affect social justice interest and commitment was proven valid for Korean college students. Also, in comparison with the direct effects model(social supports and barriers affect directly on commitment), the indirect effects model(social supports and barriers affect indirectly on commitment through self-efficacy) was supported. As an unique path of social-justice domain, the indirect effect by social support on commitment through outcome expectation was proved, as well. This study covers measurement limitations, future directions for research, and some lessons points with regards to how Korean college students to have social justice interest and commitment.

The world's senior population is on the rise. In particular, unlike the past seniors who were in the digital insensitivity class, the smart seniors who want to continue to use smart devices and the Internet are emerging. Although the definition of senior is merely defined as a senior group, research on the characteristics of seniors has been done in psychology studies, but research using data based senior cognitive response is only at an early stage. In order to provide contents according to the cognitive characteristics of Smart Senior, there is a need to classify the cognitive characteristics of Smart Senior well. Therefore, this paper suggests a data - driven senior cognitive response modeling method that helps the enjoyment of culture for seniors through classification of cognitive responses to smart seniors.
This purposed of this study was to investigate the effect of empathy on social justice commitment from a social-cognitive perspective. Specifically, we examined how cognitive and affective empathy affect social justice commitment through social justice self-efficacy, social justice outcome expectation, and social justice interest which represent a social-cognitive path of behavior. Based on the self-report survey sample of 537 people in their twenties, we first controlled social desirability, and then analyzed the measurement and structure model using Structure Estimate Modeling(SEM). As a result, it turned out that both cognitive and affective empathy indirectly affected social justice commitment through the path of the social-cognitive model. However, affective empathy had a larger effect size compared to cognitive empathy. Results suggest that empathy competence has an effect on not only general altruistic behavior as known before but also social justice behavior which include the value of equality and anti-discrimination. Finally, ways for facilitating social justice commitment in terms of cognitive and affective empathy were suggested.
This study is to find a theoretical basis for the effective teaching-learning of the geographical concept through comparing two cognitive pshychological perspectives: Piaget's cognitive development stage theory and Vygotsky's theory with higher mectal function and zone of proximal development(ZPD). Piaget't theory of cognitive development stage has been empirically proved in the spatial concept development and provided a basis for geographical educational psychology. In spite of this contribution, it has its own limitation in that students cannot learn cocepts beyond their cognitive development stage. On the other hand, Vygotsky supposed that concept development has been done by teaching-learning. This study suggests that Vygotsky's theory gives more comprehensive thoretical basis for its effective teaching-learning about the geographical concept development.
