  • In this Paper. we Presents subband design techniques of a compensating filter and adaptive feedback canceller for the digital hearing aid. The sensorineural hearing loss has a hearing threshold that shows a nonlinear characteristic in frequency domain. and its compensation suffers from an echo that produced by an undesired time varying feedback path. Therefore. the digital hearing aid requires the compensator that can adjust gains nonlinearly in frequency bands and eliminate the echo rapidly In the Proposed digital hearing aid. the compensating filter is designed by the adaptive system identification method in subband structure, and the adaptive feedback canceller is designed by the subband affine projection algorithm. The designed compensation filter can control the nonlinear gain in each subband respectively, therefore precise compensation is possible. And the feedback canceller using the subband adaptive filter achieves fast convergence rate. The Performances of the Proposed method are verified by computer simulations as comparing with the behaviors of the previous trials.

A Filtered-x Affine Projection Sign Algorithm with Improved Convergence Rate for Active Impulsive Noise Control (능동 충격성 소음 제어를 위한 향상된 수렴 속도를 가지는 Filtered-x 인접 투사 부호 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, we propose a new Modified Filtered-x Affine Projection Sign Algorithm(MFxAPSA) to improve the convergence speed of the conventional MFxAPSA which has been proposed for active control of impulsive noise. Under the impulsive noise environment, the adaptive algorithms based on the second order moment such as the Filtered-x Least Mean Square(FxLMS) show slow convergence speed or diverge because the noise source tends to have infinite variance. The MFxAPSA is the algorithm derived by applying the Affine Projection Sign Algorithm(APSA) to active noise control. The APSA has an advantage that it does not need the calculation for the inverse matrix, so it may be suitable for the active noise control that requires low computational burden. The proposed MFxAPSA also has APSA's advantage and furthermore, better performance than the conventional MFxAPSA. We carried out a performance comparison of the proposed MFxAPSA with the conventional MFxAPSA. It is shown that the proposed MFxAPSA has the faster convergence speed than the conventional MFxAPSA.

Character Grouping using 3-D Neighborhood Graph on Raster Map (래스터 지도상에서 3차원 인접 그래프를 이용한 문자 그룹핑)

  • 래스터 지도에서 직선 또는 곡선과 중첩되어 있는 경우의 문자는 추출하기가 쉽지 않다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 고립되어 있는 문자뿐만 아니라 문자이외의 요소와 중첩되어 있는 문자도 효과적으로 추출할수 있는 분할 정복(divide and conquer) 개념에 기반한 문자 추출방법을 제시한다. 이를 위해 먼저 이미지의 연결 요소로부터 볼록다각형(convex hull)을 생성한다. 그리고 이 다각형이 충분한게 문자영역만을 포함할때가지 볼록 다각형을 이등분하면서 가장 긴 선분(투사 선분)을 기준으로 두 영역으로 분할한다. 다음으로 문자를 추출하기 위해서 이 선분을 기준으로 연결 요소상의 픽셀의 밀집도를 계산하는 알고리즘(프로파일링)을 적용한다. 또한 지도상에서 추출된 개별적인 문자들을 의미있는 단어들로 묶기(grouping)한 새로운 알고리즘을 소개한다. 특히 지도상에 나타나는 문자의 종류는 매우 다양하고 또한 이 문자들이 놓여있는 방향 역시 일정하지 않기 때문에 이러한 단어를 찾는 kd법은 쉽지 않다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 3차원 인접 그래프(3-D neighborhood graph)G를 소개한다. 이 그래프 G에서 각 노드는 하나의 분리된 문자를 나타내며 자신의 크기와 위치에 따라서 3차원 공간상에서 위치하게된다. 따라서, 크기가 큰 (작은)문자들은 보다 큰 (작은) z값을 가지고 되며 이 그래프 G에서 서로 인접한 노드들을 연결함으로써 지도상에 존재하는 서로 다른 종류의 문자 스트링을 추출할수 있다. 실험결과는 서로 다른 지도 이미지에 대해서 약 95% 이상의 단어 추출율을 보여준다.

Statistical Analysis of the MSE for the MDPSAP Adaptive Filter (MPDSAP 적응필터를 위한 MSE의 통계적 해석)

  • This paper presents a statistical analysis of the MSE of adaptation for the MPDSAP (Maximally polyphase decomposed Subband Affine Projection) algorithm for the an autoregressive (AR) inputs with P order. In subband structure, the Affine Projection (AP) algorithm is transformed to the Normalized Least Mean Square (NLMS) algorithm by applying the polyphase decomposition and the noble identity to the adaptive filter. And also, AR input can be pre-whitened by subband filtering with the Orthonormal Analysis Filters(OAF). In the subband structure, the pre-whitening of the AR(P) inputs provides simple and valid approximations for a statistical analysis of the MSE behaviors for the SAP adaptive filter.

Subband Affine Projection Adaptive Filter using Variable Step Size and Pipeline Transform (가변 적응상수와 파이프라인 변환을 이용한 부밴드 인접투사 적응필터)

  • In this paper, we suggest a new technique which employ the pipelined architecture for the implementation of the SAP adaptive filter using variable step size. According as SAP adaptive filter is sufficiently decomposed, a simplified SAP adaptive filter can be derived, and the weights of adaptive sub-filters can be updated by a simple formular without a matrix inversion. The convergence speed and the steady state error of the simplified SAP adaptive filter are improved by using variable step size. For practical implementation, the simplified SAP adaptive sub-filters are transformed by the pipeline technique.
