  • The present study proposes a realistic method to analyze the prestressed concrete members subjected to torsion. For this end, this study devises a method to realistically take into account the tensile stiffness of concrete after cracking. The effects of biaxial compressive and tensile loadings on the compressive and tensile strengths of concrete are also taken into account in the present model. The comparison of the present theory with experimental data indicates that the proposed model dipicts reasonably well the actual behavior of prestressed concrete members subjected to torsion. The present model can predict not only the service load behavior, but also up to the behavior of ultimate load stages.

  • Block shear failure is one of limit states, and demands great caution in designing the tension member or connection joint of steel structures. From many studies and design specification, it is shown that the effect of the bolted connection type on the block shear failure was not considered. In order to investigate the effect of the bolted connection type(bearing type connection and slip critical connection) on the mode/strength of the block shear failure, tensile experiment is conducted in this study. Differences about the failure mode according to the design specification, bearing type connection, and slip critical connection are proposed from the analysis of test results. The variation of the block shear failure strength due to the frictional force in the slip critical connection is also investigated.

  • The distributor for hydraulic pumps or motors, particularly radial piston motors, include rotary member which has equally both surface shape for dynamic balance and two fixed members, located in both side of rotary member, which have equal surface shape for dynamic balance and circular ring which use to retain predetermined clearance between two fixed members. Rotary member must have valve part for flow-distribution and can have hydrostatic bearing for excellently dynamic balance. At least two annular steps located on said pressure plate which use in compensation of bolt expansion.

  • The ductility capacity should be estimated for inelastic analysis and design of reinforced concrete flexural members. Therefore, to estimate the ductility capacity, the model of moment-curvature relationship of reinforced concrete flexural member is assumed in this study. The curvature, rotation, and displacement(deflection) of reinforced concrete cantilever beams are analyzed and tested. The analytical results are compared with the test results. According to the analytical and test results, the assumed model of moment-curvature relationship in this study is adequate in flexural analysis of reinforced concrete members because the analytical results are well agreed with the test results, and it is resonable to express the ductility capacity in the rotation or displacement ductility, Because the curvature ductility is the limited index in a certain section. It is investigated that the ductility capacity is proportional to lateral reinforcement and compression reinforcement and inversely proportional to tension reinforcement.

  • Although structural concrete is well known for its good economic efficiency, it has limits of structural performance due to the low tensile strength, for which new structural members utilizing various concrete composite materials have been developed. Steel Fiber-Reinforced Concrete(SFRC) has great tensile strength, which is the one of the excellent composite material to complement the weakness of concrete, and it is also considered as a good alternative to prevent the explosive failure of high strength concrete under fire. Also, prestressed concrete members are of great advantages to long span structures and have greater shear strength compared to conventional reinforced concrete members. In this research, thus, a total of 22 direct shear test specimens were fabricated and tested to understand the shear behavior of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Prestressed Concrete(SFR-PSC) members, in which SFRC members combined with prestressing method. Based on the test results, the constitutive equations of shear behavior at crack interfaces were proposed, which provided good estimation on the shear behavior of the SFR-PSC direct shear test specimens.

  • The application of the diagrid structural system has increased of late, but cyclic loadings such as winds and earthquakes cannot be fully understood through only an analytical study due to the difficulty of considering its welding property. In this study, diagrid nodes that had been scaled down to 1/5 of their full sizes were tested to find out their structural behavior under seismic or wind loads. Four specimens were used with five parameters, including the welding method and the design details. Cyclic loading tests were carried out, where a tensile load was applied to one brace member and a compression load to the other. The major failure modes in the tests were only failure of bending with tensile stress and tension failure. The welding method and the design details had no effect on the initial stiffness and yielding stress but play a significant role in the failure mode and energy dissipation, respectively.

  • Stress concentrations around discontinuities, such as a hole or a sudden change in cross section of a structural member, have great important cause in the most materials failure because the stress near the points of application of concentrated loads can reach values much larger than the average value of the stress in the member. This paper presents the stress concentrations between fillet and hole at different locations in a stepped plate under tensile loading. The analysis for interaction effect of stress concentration was performed by photoelasticity and ANSYS which is a commercial finite element software. From the analysis results, the circular hole located at the different position from the fillet radius can cause different values of stress concentration factor within interacting region.

  • In case of calculation of an immediate deflection according to EC2, a curvature and average curvature are calculated by reflecting tension stiffening effect. In this study, tension stiffening effects according to MC90 and EC2 were considered, and an immediate deflection was calculated. And also, it was compared to results in KCI provision and experimental data. In results, it has difference around 8~15% with respect to tension stiffening effect, but all of them predict well for the load-deflection behavior after yielding state.
