Study on Development of Automated Program Model for Measuring Sensibility Preference of Portrait (인물사진의 감성 선호도 측정 자동화 프로그램 모형 개발 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop measurement program model for a human being-oriented product through the between the evaluation factors of portrait and general preferences of portraits. We added new items that are essential to the image evaluation by analysing previous studies. In this study, We identified the facial focus for the first step, and the portraits were evaluated by dividing it into objective and subjective image quality evaluation items. RSC Contrast and Dynamic Range were selected as the Objective evaluation items, and the numerical values of each image could be evaluation items, and the numerical values of each image could be evaluated by statistical analysis method. Facial Exposure, Composition, Position, Ratio, Out of focus, and Emotions and Color tone of image were selected as the Subjective evaluation items. In addition, a new face recognition algorithm is applied to judge the emotions, the manufacturer can get the information that they can analyze the people's emotion. The program developed to quantitatively and qualitatively compiles the evaluation items when evaluating portraits. The program that I developed through this study can be used an analysis program that produce the data for developing the evaluation model of the product more suitable to general users of imaging systems.

Optimum Parameter Ranges on Highly Preferred Images: Focus on Dynamic Range, Color, and Contrast (선호도 높은 이미지의 최적 파라미터 범위 연구: 다이내믹 레인지, 컬러, 콘트라스트를 중심으로)

  • In order to measure the parameters of consumers' preferred image quality, this research suggests image quality assessment factors; dynamic range, color, and contrast. They have both physical image quality factors and psychological characteristics from the previous researches. We found out the specific ranges of preferred image quality metrics. As a result, Digital Zone System meant for dynamic range generally shows 6~10 stop ranges in portrait, nightscape, and landscape. Total RGB mean values represent in portrait (67.2~215.2), nightscape (46~142), and landscape (52~185). Portrait total RGB averages have the widest range, landscape, and nightscape, respectively. Total scene contrast ranges show in portrait (196~589), nightscape (131~575), and landscape (104~767). Especially in portrait, skin tone RGB mean values are in ZONE V as the exposure standard, but practically image consumers' preferred skin tone level is in ZONE IV. Also, total scene versus main subject contrast ratio represents 1:1.2; therefore, we conclude that image consumers prefer the out-of-focus effect in portrait. Throughout this research, we can measure the preferred image quality metrics ranges. Also, we expect the practical and specific dynamic range, color, and contrast information of preferred image quality to positively influence product development.

  • Currently, digital restoration has s long way to go. Character restoration is only used as a one-time event to restore the shape of a specific person, and building restoration is only composed of digital modeling rather than using the restored cultural assets as content. There is a limit to restoring even the story of a building or a person with the current restoration method alone. Therefore, this study analyzed the method and process of digital restoration of a 'historical and cultural space' encompassing spaces, people, and events, focusing on relationships. In order to derive digital restoration methods, the case of 'Latelier', an indoor theme park based on Gogh, was analyzed. According to the study, the relationship of the person important for digital restoration is important. Based on Gogh's relationship, the process was formalized in four stages for digital restoration: the preparation stage, the digital archive stage, the DB advancement stage, and the demonstration stage. The restoration of the story of the character through the relationship can be expected to converge the past and the present as a true historical restoration, and through this, it is expected that the innovative development of digital restoration can be achieved.

The Using of Music for Psychological Expression in the Film 「Punch-Drunk Love」 (영화 「펀치 드렁크 러브(Punch-Drunk Love)」에서 심리표현을 위한 음악의 활용)

  • The film is an audiovisual art and conveys stories using various audiovisual techniques. Among the auditory elements, music has a wide variety of expressive techniques, a wide range of applications, and is sometimes used as a proprietary tool to convey stories. This study examines the musical expression technique for expressing the psychology of the character in the film by using the movie "Punch Drunk Love" as a subject of study. We study the use of music used to reveal meaning that does not appear on the screen in the film story flow, which is a tool to create the hidden meaning of the person's inner psychology and situation. This provides an example and perspective of the contrast and symbolic expression of character psychology in film music.

A Study on the Delusional Characters and Their Narratives of Love in Cartoon Works of Jungae Lee and Shijin Yoo (이정애, 유시진 만화에 나타난 망상형 인물과 연애서사 연구)

  • This study analyzed the narratives of love of "delusional" characters in the works of Jungae Lee and Shijin Yoo, whose cartoon creations were prominent in the 1990s and the early 2000s. Their delusional characters can be characterized by excessive obsession with their objects of love, rejection of realistic logic, madness, and extreme selfishness. They make a type of characters whose traces have disappeared not only in the South Korean society of the 21st century, where love and dating are included in the discourse of self-development and dramatic pathos is regarded as the waste of feelings, but also in creative works. It is still, however, needed to pay attention to the selfishness and collapse of those delusional characters that reject the order of the world and focus only on their love because they make the audience betray the sentimentality of melodramas stimulated by the popular culture and reconsider the concept of "love" itself. While Jungae Lee displays the progress of delusional characters and their narratives of love toward collectivized compulsion with the Messiah motif of Christianity, Shijin Yoo presents a narrative of delusional characters with lost memories reacting to hysterical fantasies and eventually choosing their collapse. Their two narratives are significant in that they propose the archetype of personal desire eliminated by the narratives of love in melodramas.

  • This study aimed to develop a model of the program for automation measuring the preference of the portraits based on the relationship between the image quality factors and the preferences in the portraits for manufacturers aiming at high utilization of the users. in order to proceed with the evaluation, the image quality measurement was divided into objective and subjective items, and the evaluation was done through image processing and statistical methods. the image quality measurement items can be divided into objective evaluation items and subjective evaluation items. RSC Contrast, Dynamic Range and Noise were selected for the objective evaluation items, and the numerical values were statistically analyzed and evaluated through the program. Exposure, Color Tone, composition of person, position of person, and out of focus were selected for subjective evaluation items and evaluated by image processing method. By applying objective and subjective assessment items, the results were very accurate, with the results obtained by the developed program and the results of the actual visual inspection. but since the currently developed program can be evalua ted only after facial recognition of the person, future research will need to develop a program that can evaluate all kinds of portraits.

Actors' Challenging Journey to Self-discoveries in Building a Character (배우의 자아발견을 향한 여정과 인물구축을 위한 도전)

  • There is much confusion with the relationship between character and actor. Under the pressure of 'becoming' a character, the actor tends to begin his work apart from his own senses, imagination and memory, and is most likely to fall into the trap of artificiality and clich$\acute{e}$. Like every other art, the actor has to begin honestly with himself who, in nature, has unfathomable possibilities. To be and live as a character, the actor has to experience. To experience, to react. To react, to see with all the senses. Like ours, each character's life goes on from reaction to reaction, reacting to the images from the imagination and the memory. "You are what you see." The actor is put into the extremely unfamiliar circumstances of drama, given only with his own senses, imagination and memory. Fear comes in. However, fear cannot stop the actor's challenging journey to self-discoveries. The actor does and acts, not because he is certain but because he is not. The actor challenges himself to go beyond the limit and uncertainty, so that he will finally come to know and truly understand human beings from the challenges of his own. In a nutshell, acting is a journey to the unknown and the unfamiliar in which the actor unceasingly discover new 'I's.

  • The information of figures in science which could induce interest in science and have educational importance is the value-added content through information sharing and connectivity. In this study, we analyzed domestic and overseas cases of Linked Open Data(LOD) that are being increased recently in order to provide a better service through information sharing and utilization of scientific figures. We suggested an efficient scientific figures ontology and the method for LOD construction reflecting the results of the analysis. We also presented plans for the interlinking among various external resources and for promoting LOD information use.
