  • Today, fishing villages are on the verge of extinction due to severe aging within the population and outward migration. Recent projects and studies targeting fishing villages viewed the fishing villages from an outsider-centered perspective, without a local-centered understanding of the village as a daily living space. Therefore, to understand the settlement environment of fishing villages, this study analyzed empirical data on the usage behavior of fishing village residents to gain insight into the characteristics of the outdoor space uses of residents in fishing villages. In this regard, a face-to-face survey was conducted among residents, and a village map drawn by the villagers showedthe spatial perception of the villagers. Empirical data on the behavior of fishing villagers using the village space was collected and analyzed through GPS. The study results suggested that residents of fishing villages tend to focus on productive activities, such as fishing, leading to a lack of awareness of other leisure activities and spaces. This monotonous pattern of space utilization within the village appears to stem from an absolute lack of available facilities within the target area. Therefore, in future village regeneration projects aimed at improving the quality of life for residents in fishing villages, it is essential to consider the residents' perception and utilization of space as a priority. The results of this study can be considered valuable foundational data for understanding the utilization of spaces within fishing villages and can be effectively utilized in planning initiatives to enhance quality of life.

  • Regional disparities between eastern and western regions is the most of serious problem for balanced regional development in Turkey. The Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) is being implemented to eliminate these regional development disparities. The work that was initially planned as predominantly for hydraulic energy production to utilize water resources of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers more effectively was later transformed into an integrated multi-sector regional development project. This study noted that this region had very limited cash crop production because of the constraints of semi-arid climate of the southeastern region, however, later, it has changed Turkey's major cotton producing region since Southeastern Anatolia Project carried out. Therefore, this study investigated background, process, and content of the Southeastern Anatolia Project with respect to high cotton productivity in this region and examined the dynamic changes of cotton productivity in this region. In addition, Sanliurfa prefecture is one of the main development axes of the Southeastern Anatolia Project, because government investments are concentrated on this prefecture. Therefore, this study examined the background and process of cotton farming growth in this prefecture. In 2011, Sanliurfa prefecture produced 37.6% of Turkey's total cotton production. This is mainly due to agricultural infrastructure expansion such as land consolidation, irrigation, roads and farm roads. Also, it is one of the main factor that subsidies paid to farmers for cotton cultivation. The introduction of irrigation has dramatically changed the direction of seasonal migration of this area. Prior to irrigation, this area had a serious social issue about out-migration for seasonal labor to other areas. However, the introduction of irrigation made this area that changed to in-migration and intramigration for cotton cultivation. Irrigation water is supplied to farmers through the WUAs (Water User Associations) that handed over irrigation water management, operation from DSI (General Directorate of State of Hydraulic Works). However, the WUAs are under the influence of Ashiret, a traditional feudal social structure. Because of this reason, it does not have an efficient management for farmers. Also, it is one of the reasons that this area does not have autonomous farmer organization.

  • The 3390 million people, around 83% of the adult population in Korea use smartphone. Although the safety problem of the certificate has been occurred continuously, most of these users use the certificate. These safety issues as a solution to 'The owner of a mobile phone using SMS authentication technology', 'Biometric authentication', etc are being proposed. but, a secure and reliable authentication scheme has not been proposed for replace the certificate yet. and there are many attacks to steal the certificate and private key. For these reasons, security experts recommend to store the certificate and private key on usb flash drive, security tokens, smartphone. but smartphones are easily infected malware, an attacker can steal certificate and private key by malicious code. If an attacker snatchs the certificate, the private key file, and the password for the private key password, he can always act as valid user. In this paper, we proposed a safe way to keep the private key on smartphone using smartphone's unique information and user password. If an attacker knows the user password, the certificate and the private key, he can not know the smart phone's unique information, so it is impossible to use the encrypted private key. Therefore smartphone user use IT service safely.

  • The investigation of water quality was performed at the upstream of Seomjinkang dam reservoir for the examination of pollutant load characteristics of the reservoir watershed during flood and normal flow periods. The highest water quality concentration was occurred at Y ongsan during normal flow period where it has been more polluted by population and livestock than other sites. Pollutant load varied depending on the sampling site, rainfall intensity and antecedent precipitation during the rainy period. Based on the water quality data measured from 1998 to 1999, the average concentration during rainy period was much higher than that of non~rainy period: BOD was 1.2~1.4 times, COD 1.2~1.7 times, SS 2.6~5.4 times, T-N 2.3~3.0 times, and T-P 2.4~7.5 times respectively. When the pollutant load measured during 7 different rainy periods in 1999 was compared with total pollutant load in 1999, the BOD and COD load measured during the 7 different rainy periods were 28% that is about 1.6 times as high as those of 1999. On the other hand, the rainfall amount measured during the 7 different rainy periods was about 17.5% of total rainfall amount in 1999. The total pollutant load of TN and TP measured during the 7 different rainy periods was almost 50% of total TN and TP loads in 1999. In case of SS, it was 72.8%. It was concluded that the inflow of pollutants into the lake during the rainy period held a high portion of total inflow in 1999. It was suggested that long~term water quality monitoring be performed to better quantity pollutant load to the lake especially during rainy periods.eriods.

  • The Philippines is known for its abundant water resources such as the rainfall, where it has a mean annual rainfall range from 965 to 4,100mm. Due to the rapid urbanization of the country, the population in Metro Manila has been continuously increasing hence, the demand for a potable water supply also increases. To mitigate the scarcity of potable water supply, utilization of the water resources should be practiced. Rainwater harvesting is one way to utilize the rainfall runoff. This study analyzedthe potentiality of the rainwater harvesting on residential areas in Metro Manila. A water balance method based spreadsheet was used with input parameters including daily rainfall, catchment area, runoff coefficient, population and the water demand. The efficiency of the domestic water tank was analyzedusing the three different climatic conditions (i.e., minimum, median andmaximum annual rainfalls) and three different types of toilets (i.e., inefficient, conventional and dual-flush toilets). Furthermore, the overflow volume was used to determine which size of rainwater storage was more appropriate for the study area. The results of the study showed that for the three types of rainfall years, only the conventional and dual-flush toilets were suitable for the utilization of rainwater harvesting. The utilization of the $60m^3$ storage tank was sufficient for supplying the demandsof the 90 houses only for a small period of time, 3 months. Based from this study, to fully sustain the long-term water demand of the houses, the enlargement of the tank size having a capacity of 1,100 to $2,500m^3$ is ideal.

  • Paldang lake which is the most important water resource in Korea is classified as a stream type reservoir and water quality of Paldang lake can be significantly influenced by external pollutant source. So this study was aimed to determine focused control BOD and TP sources of each unit watershed upper Paldang lake through analysis of pollutant source distribution and pollutant runoff characteristics. Generated load, discharge load, delivery load and each load density of 11 unit watersheds upper Paldang lake were calculated using data of water quality and flow rate from pollutant sources and 74 small streams. As a result of generated load, discharge load and delivery load of BOD and TP from pollutant sources, the most BOD generated load was taken by livestock with 66% of total BOD discharge load and domestic had the most BOD discharge load, 42.7%. The ratio of delivery load of livestock and domestic was 36.4% and 34.3%, respectively. Livestock occupied high ratio of TP generated load, discharge load and delivery load with 82.5%, 44.4% and 46.7%, respectively. Gyeongan watershed which had high population density showed the highest BOD delivery load density of $14.6kg/km^2/d$ and the highest TP delivery load density with $1.23kg/km^2/d$ was analyzed in Cheongmi watershed including the biggest number of livestock. From these results, management of domestic sewer and livestock excrement was determined as a focused control pollutant source. And intensive management about domestic sewer in Gyeongan stream and livestock excrement in Cheongmi stream is required for water quality improvement of Paldang lake.

  • This study was to investigate the impact of region-wide travel pattern on local fiscal capacity in the Seoul metropolitan area. The study adopted both factor analysis and regression modeling for it, while using fiscal-and travel-related variables as well as urban characteristics determining travel patterns. We used the former method to compress independent variables of travel and urban characteristics because of strong correlationship between them. Four factors identified by the analysis output were adopted in regression models with some dependent variables representing local fiscal capacity. Their results resulting from both analyses showed that local fiscal inequality within the metropolitan area is driven by region-wide travel Patterns such as total trips. inner trip ratio, and the ratio of trips from and to the Seoul city.

  • In case of inundation in a city where populations and properties are highly concentrated, unlike rural areas it is necessary to apply the method of calculating the damage amount considering the sewage overflow and the corresponding building damage. In this study, Dorim 1 drainage sector has been analyzed with Multi-Dimensional Flood Damage Assessment (MD-FDA) for flood forecast. It is analyzed with past flood history through the SWMM model and calculated the amount of damage with district base data and the result of flow analysis. The result of the SWMM model to predict a range of flood, it was shown that the wide area after 4 hours (at 16:30) by sewer overflow. The building damage was estimated using MD-FDA. As a result, the maximum flood area has shown as $205,955m^2$ (0~0.5 m: $205,190m^2$, over 0.5 m: $865m^2$) and estimated building damage of Dorim 1 drainage sector is approximately 15.5 billion KRW (Korean won) and other contents is 7 billion KRW (Korean won). Also from 0 to 0.5 m depth estimated damage is approximately 22.4 billion KRW (Korean won) and over 0.5 m is 100 million KRW (Korean won). Based on the results of this study, it would be necessary to estimate the amount of sub-divided flood damage in urban areas according to various damage patterns such as flood depth and flood time.

  • A preliminary study of the isotope hydrology of the Han River Valley is presented. This investigation is part of a project whose overall aim is to relate the levels of heavy metal ions to the dynamics of the groundwater movement in order to establish (i) whether there is any evidence for the deterioration in groundwater quality associated with the release of industrial effluents and (ii) if so, to determine the migration path-ways. Evidence is adduced that the recharge mechanism is principally determined by the degree of urbanisation. In the metropolitan area of Seoul, river recharge dominates probably due to the combined effects of reduced infiltration and increased pumpage. In the inter-urban region, the major source of recharge is local precipitation. During the spring sampling period when the river levels were low. evidence was obtained for appreciable groundwater infiltration in the vicinity of the upstream transect. No significant correlations were observed between the levels of heavy metals in the groundwater, and the recharge mechanism, the distance from the river or the electrical conductivity of the samples.
