Study of Artificial Aging Procedure for Asphalt Mixtures (아스팔트 혼합물의 인공노화 방안 연구)

  • This study was carried out for developing artificial short-term aging(SA) and long-term aging(LA) methods of asphalt mixtures in which the aging level is properly matched with those of RTFO and PAV aged binders, respectively. The specimens were made of the short-term aged loose asphalt mixture which was kept in a convection oven at $154^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours and were aged at $110^{\circ}C$ for 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours for SA. Large molecular size(LMS) were measured using GPC after SA and LA to evaluate aging extents of each mixture with aging time. It is shown that the LMS was increased with aging time increment and that from the LMS(%) change ratio, it was possible to suggest an appropriate artificial aging time which is corresponding level of aging with RTFO and PAV. It was found that SA was somewhat strong and LA for 48 hours at $110^{\circ}C$ would be appropriate if sort-term aging is properly controlled.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate physical property change of asphalt cement chromatograms (by HP-GPC) were experimentally obtained from 3 types of AC-20 virgin ACs, 5 and 24-hour artificially aged ACs, and naturally aged 4 ACs that were recovered from 4 different roads. Absolute viscosity, kinematic visoosity and penetration were the physical properties tested. THF was used for mobil phase and RI detector was used as a detector for Hp-GPC testing. Correlation between each physical property change and the chromatogram variation was evaluated. Each chromatogram was divided into ten-equal-time slices. The percentage areas of 10 slices and each physical property were used for statistical correlation evaluation. Statistical analysis results showed that eaoh physical property had a strong correlation with the chromatogram characteristics. Aging was identified as a mechanism of change of molecular size distribution - increasing large size molecules and reducing coresponding samll size molecules.

  • Artificial skin culture broth (DA-3711) was developed by using Dong-A pharmaceutical's artificial skin culture technique, and it contains plenty of nutrients, natural extracellular matrix proteins and human growth factors, which may improve aged skin conditions. The anti-aging effect of DA-3711 was investigated both in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore the clinical studies showed that DA-3711 had been very effective in improving firmness and reducing wrinkles. The results suggest that the novel anti-wrinkle agent. DA-3711, may have anti-aging and anti-wrinkle effects by stimulating skin regeneration.

  • This study was Performed to evaluate applicability of color flexible pavement concrete (CFPC) for motorway pavement. Color flexible pavement has been applied to non-motorway pavements, such as pedestrian and bicycle road. Two polymers were used to modify the binder and to strengthen the stiffness of pavement mixture. Waste paper was used to prevent the asphalt of gap-grade mixture from draining. Marshall properties, indirect tensile strength(ITS), tensile strength ratio(TSR) before and after freezing-and-thawing treatment and artificial aging, permanent deformation and fatigue life were measured. Color bituminous concrete mixtures used this study had nearly the same quality in mechanical properties when compared with conventional asphalt concrete mixtures manufactured with AP-3 and all mixtures satisfied with domestic specification for motorway pavement. Therefore, it is proved that the color bituminous concrete used this study can be applied for motorway pavement.

Influence of Chromosome Number on Cell Growth and Cell Aging in Yeast (효모에서 염색체의 수가 세포성장과 노화에 미치는 영향)

  • The influence of chromosome number on cell growth and cell aging was investigated in various yeast strains that have many artificial chromosomes constructed using a chromosome manipulation technique. Host strain FY833 and the YKY18, YKY18R, YKY24, and YKY30 strains harboring 16 natural chromosomes, 18 chromosomes, 18 chromosomes containing rDNA chromosome, 24 chromosomes, and 30 chromosomes, respectively, were used, and the specific growth rate of each strain was compared. The specific growth rates in the YKY18 and YKY24 strains were indistinguishable from that in the host strain, while those of the YKY18R and YKY30 strains were reduced to approximately 25% and 40% of the host strain level, respectively. Subsequently, the replicative life span was examined to investigate the relationship between the number of chromosomes and cell aging, and the life span was decreased to approximately 14% and 45% of the host strain level in the YKY24 and YKY30 strains, respectively. Moreover, telomere length, well known as a senescence factor, was shorter and more diversified in the strain, showing decreased life span. Therefore, these results suggest the possibility that an increase in the number of chromosomes containing artificial chromosomes caused cell aging, and we expected these observations would be applied to improve industrial strain harboring of versatile and special artificial chromosomes.

  • 본 연구는 피부의 노화방지 및 미백 효과에 탁월한 비타민 E를 섬유에 부착시켜 인체에 미치는 생리적 반응을 보기 위하여 온열감, 습윤감, 쾌적감의 주관적 감각평가와 심박수, 피부온, 의복내 온도 및 습도를 측정하였다. 연구방법 및 결과는 다음과 같다. 실험은 온도 30±1℃, 상대습도 50±15%, 기류 0.2m/s 이하로 설정된 인공기수실에서 실시하였다. 피험자는 평균연령 21세의 건강한 성인여자 5명으로, 체중, 신장 및 체표면적의 평균치는 52.2㎏, 161.2cm 및 155㎡이다. (중략)
