A Study on the Perception and Attitude of 'Do Not Resuscitate' in Adults (성인의 심폐소생술 금지(DNR)에 대한 인식 및 태도에 대한 조사 연구)

  • This is a descriptive study on the perception and attitude toward DNR in adults. Structured questionnaires were used and 210 subjects were studied. In recognition of DNR, DNR was helpful for 'a comfortable dying(64.3%)'. The need for DNR in situation investigated 'For dignified dying (41.3%)' and 'to alleviate patient suffering(23.9%)'. Respondents who do not agree with DNR are shown 'Because legal issues can arise(61.7%)', 'Because human dignity is the life-sustaining priority(16.7%)'. In the attitude toward DNR, the most significant result was 'I want to know if I have an incurable disease (4.21).' There was no difference in attitudes toward DNR among adults. The DNR is not a method of Withdrawing in lifeprolonging treatment, It should be addressed in a comprehensive context in which human beings exercise autonomy over the process of dying and death.

  • 3월 8일은 '세계 여성의 날' 이다. 1908년 당시 미국의 여성노동자들은 먼지 자욱한 현장에서 하루 12~14시간씩 일해야 했으나, 여성이라는 이유만으로 선거권과 노동조합 결성의 자유가 주어지지 않았다. 굶지 않기 위해 일하면서도 인간 이하의 삶을 강요받아야 했던 것이다. 그러던 1908년 3월 8일, 전 의류노동자들의 시위를 계기로 의류노동자연합이라는 조직이 탄생됐다. 이를 기념해 1911년부터 3월 8일을 '세계여성의 날'로 선정해 세계 곳곳에서 여성의 날 기념행사를 펼쳐오고 있다. 여성의 날에는 '그녀에게 빵과 장미를'이라는 구호를 외치는데, 여기서 빵은 생존을, 장미는 인간 존엄을 의미한다. 세계 여성의 날을 맞아 예전보다는 많이 호전됐지만 이직도 갈 길이 먼 여성경영활동 여건과 여성인쇄인에 대해 알아본다.

  • 현재 우리는 급속한 정보화.세계화 물결의 혼란 속에서 인간이 존엄성과 가치 및 공동체적 삶의 가치를 미처 정리하지 못하고 참다운 삶의 방향 감각을 상실한 채 살아가고 있다. 가치 창조적 삶의 의미를 망각한 우리 사회는 물질만능과 즉흥적이고 쾌락적.감성적인 행동에 의해 지배되고 있으며 이로 인하여 생명의 경시풍조와 인간소외 현상이 만연되어가고 있다. 이러한 가치관의 혼란과 비복지적 현실 가운데 우리는 우리의 삶, 우리의 후손교육, 우리의 가정과 지역사회 이대로 좋은 것인가\ulcorner 라는 자성적 질문과 함께 미래지향적인 삶과 사랑으로 더불어 사는 공동체 사회를 지향하여 온 국민이 더불어 할 일이 또 하나 있음을 깨닫게 된다. 현대인에게 있어서 자원봉사는 선행이 아니라 권리의 행사이다. 왜냐하면 자원봉사를 통하여 어떻게 살아야 할 것인가\ulcorner 라는 근본 물음에 대한 정답을 얻을 수 있기 때문이다. 이러한 시점에서 청소년에 대한 볼런터리즘(voluntarism)교육은 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 본 논문에서는 1995년 5.13교육 개혁으로 의무화된 중.고등학교 학생들의 자원봉사화동을 재 조명하여 보고, 청소년 문제 해결을 위한 자원봉사 활성화 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

Suffering and Hospice Care (고통과 호스피스 케어)

  • Although hospice care includes palliative care technology in terminally ill person for pain, it is much more holistic including emotional, spiritual and other life dimension. Human suffering that experiencing the hospice client must be reconsidered whether one starts with an objective side or a subjective side of suffering, the strategies about the expanded consciousness is important. In the hospice caring perspectives, the body, mind and spirit are integrated so the objectivity and subjectivity can merge; the extended awareness with inner resource or energy, and the positive thinking about the God is meaningful especially dying person, family member, and the hospice team.

  • The current AI technology has been developing rapidly enough to realize or even exceed the level of abilities that only humans had in the past. In the near future, it is predicted that humans and AI will influence each other as members of the metaverse society. Therefore, this study emphasizes the importance of empathy as a core competency for humans to pursue happiness while maintaining the dignity of humans in the era when AI and humans will coexist in the metaverse. In this study, 'Digital Human Empathy Index (DHEI)' is developed that reflects the social nature of computer-mediated communication in the metaverse As a result, DHEI consisted of a total of 7 factors, which are Perspective Taking, Self/Other Awareness, Contextual Understanding of Systemic Barriers, Impact Assessment, Solidarity, Being Peaceful, and Anthropomorphism. This study is expected to contribute to setting the direction of future education by suggesting a new measure of empathy.

  • 'Old man' or 'old age' was not the parts of academic discipline in the Joseon era but Yeoheon put it in the philosophical 'problematization' of the learning of the Confucianism. He was argued that the old man or old age is not merely biological decline but it has the goal to achieve. The completion of self is the meaning and end of the life throughout the subjective realization and procedure of attaining the goal step by step. Well-aged old man is affirming the getting old and making the positive changing of old life time in his one sake. This essay is showing the Yeoheon's thought of old aging as the self-realizing well-ageing. Next, it is argued that the predicament of old age or old man is not just social welfare or biological aspects but it is serious philosophical problems. If it was just social or biological aspects then it is just a social phenomenon to approach the view of scientists. However, this is not only life and death and flux of time and relativities but also it is problematizing the self-identification subjectivities. Obviously, it is the significant that the old and or old age is fundamentally philosophical subject rather than social or biological materials. In the third chapter, we are dealing with the views of the life and death of Yeoheon. He was insisted that quite interesting opinion that is the all the lives in the universe include himself is 'a wayfarer'. It looks like a time traveler in the universe; we are just one who stays in a body for awhile. When we follow him, we are living in this universe in a time (disposable) but the same theorem is applying to the whole universe as well myriad creatures. Therefore, man has a job to do as an entity of the universe. Yeoheon was called it is the business as a job and we have to do the Dao till you end. The fourth, Yeoheon was suggested that the old man has his work and business. There are two kind of works for an old man, the former is self control as an old age that is call the old man's job and the latter is staying with the Dao that is called the old man's business. According to Yeoheon, man has charged to realize the law of the universe that means we are the moral entity; therefore we are business to complete ourselves. Old age is decline of physical activities rather than vigorous, therefore, we have to follow our body and self-affirmation of declination is the Dao. The final, Yeoheon was advised that the old man better saved in the current of the Dao, because the physical function is declining but the shining Dao is within the mind in the body. It is motivation of the self-dignity of old man and one who recognizes the work to do even in the old body that he will be the significant among all the society not a lonely old man anymore. Old aging is biological twilight but the considerable real size expertise and self-affirmation is the Dao of old age. We are meditating nowadays in Yeoheon's philosophical context on old man or old aging. By him, the old age is man of dignity as long as he realizes in his Dao through the business and self-affirmation.

Presumed Will of Pause or Stop of Meaningless Life Extension (연명치료중단에 대한 추정적 의사)

  • The Korean supreme court said that Mrs Kim who was in a persistent vegetative state had a right to die if she had a presumed will or assumption of dying against Severance hospital in 2009. Presumed would be vague and can not be subjective to conjecture though, the court had a developed trial on the case. I recommend the higher valued notion such as the 'right to decide on the life extension' is more logical than assumptive will. To achieve this recommendation, I will search right to life, right to decision, human dignity and find the good relationship between them. In conclusion, I will announce that if PVS patients without advanced directives aren't able to express their will and no one could not assume their right to die in spite of meaningless life extension. So only the due and strict procedure about the extinction of meaningless PVS patients will allow them to sacrifice themselves or remove life extension ventilators. Also active euthanasia would be possible under the strict procedure of making advanced directives and the act of helping active euthanasia additionally, the crime of abetting suicide would not be executed in the legal scope.

  • The society of intelligence-information complex is a fresh world that connects things, knowledge and calculation with human. What is the condition of educational reform in this world? Robinson and Aronica(2015) suggest educational reform at the center of organic agriculture, in which they focus on the dignity of human as an organic being. Human consists in an intelligence and a life. We have to ask to ourselves what is the human in this Age. The development of AI represented by deep-learning will be an actual condition in the educational reform. In the other hand, the combination with an information technology and art rises a question about a life itself. So, we have to ask the question seriously that overlap what is the human and what is a life. Two questions about human and a life cast a philosophical paradox in the age of AI.

  • 한국과 일본은 사회문화적 환경이 지구상에서 가장 유사하며, 근접한 국가이다. 특히, 두나라는 공통적으로 고령화의 진전속도가 매우 급속히 이루어졌으며, 국가적으로도 유사한 형태로 진행되어 왔다. 본 연구는 시대적 요청에 의해 인접한 두 국가의 다양한 고령기 대책을 마련하기 위한 전략모색과 초고령 한국사회에 대비하여 노인문제를 앞서 경험한 일본의 시사점을 통하여 대응방안의 기초를 마련하고자 한다. 본 연구는 한국과 일본 두 국가에서 각각 노인복지관, 시니어클럽, 고령자봉사센터 등을 통하여 양국가의 언어로 번역된 설문지조사로 실시되었다. 본 연구를 토대로 고령사회는<얼마나 오래사느냐>가 아니라, <어떻게 잘 사느냐>에 초점을 두고, 인간의 행복과 존엄의 가치에 입각하여 미래사회의 성장잠재력, 세대간의 조화, 성공적 노화적응에 준비하고자 한다.

  • To solve modern social problems, it is important that improve the democratic citizenship quality of people. This quality includes the rational and democratic problem-solving capacity, decision-making capacity, democratic skills and attitudes such as human dignity, dialogue, compromise. To use an educational network simulation game that has the merits of game, simulatio and network will help children to improve the democratic citizenship educaiton. This study explorers the structure, flow, system, database, interface and teaching-learning tool for this educational network simulation game.
