Speciation of Phosphorus Dependent upon pH and Oxidation Reduction Potential in Overlying Water and Sediment (pH와 산화환원전위에 따른 상등수-퇴적물에서의 인 형태 변화)

  • In this research, speciation of phosphorus in sediment and overlying water dependent upon pH and ORP(Oxidation Reduction Potential) was studied. Three possible conditions were simulated: open system with circulation, closed system with stratification and closed system with sand capping on the sediment. Phosphorus release rate from sediment was increased for both open system and closed system if pH was less than 6.0. Phosphorus concentration for closed system was increased from 0.9 mg/L to 0.51 mg/L, and stabilized at 0.34 mg/L if anaerobic conditions were maintained in the overlying water. When sand capping was implemented, phosphorus concentrations of overlying water were maintained less than those of closed system.

  • 본 연구는 목재로서 활용가치가 적은 수피(bark)를 활용하여 수질오염물질을 제거할 수 있는 여과 시스템에 대한 기초연구로서 소나무의 일종인 loblolly pine(Pinus taeda L.) 수피의 인 ($PO_4-P$) 흡착특성을 연구하였다. 실험에 사용된 수피는 입상형태로서 polyallylamine hydrochloride로 전처리하여 회분식 등온 흡착실험을 수행하였다. 회분식 등온흡착실험은 수용액 pH 3~pH 8범위에서, 인의 농도별(10, 20, 30, 40 mg/L)로 수행하였다. pH 5에서 가장 높은 인 제거 효율을 나타냈으며, 수용액의 pH는 실험 후 pH 3으로 감소하였다. 이러한 감소는 수피에 의한 phosphate의 흡착이 Lewis acid-base 반응으로서 이 과정에서 $H^+$의 방출로 인하여 나타난 현상인 것으로 여겨지며, 주된 반응 메카니즘은 더 연구할 필요성이 있다. 인 흡착은 초기에 빠른 속도로 진행되었으며 대략 200분 이후에 평형에 도달하였고, 시간이 지날수록 흡착양이 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 인의 흡착특성 결과는 Langmuir 등온흡착식과 Freundlich 등온흡착식으로 설명될 수 있으며, 등온흡착식 적용결과, 흡착제에 대한 최대 흡착능은 7.14 mg/g 이며 다른 흡착제와 비교하여 더 높았다. 실험결과와 모델에 의한 흡착능을 비교하고자 pseudo second-order model을 적용하여 흡착 동역학 상수를 구하였다. 또한 EDXA분석으로 회분식 흡착실험 후 수피와 인이 결합되어있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

Effects of Feeding Laying Hens Different Levels of Dietary Phosphorus at Different Physiological Status (생리적 요구에 따른 인의 시간별 급여가 산란계의 능력에 미치는 영향)

  • An experiment was conducted for 14 days using 108 Manina Brown laying hens of 27 weeks of age to study the effects of dietary phosphorus levels on egg production, feed intake, feed efficiency, time of oviposition, specific gravity and weight of eggs. Hens were divided into 12 pens and each was assigned to one of the three treatments with 4 replications. Each hen was housed in individual cage. Birds on treatment 1 were fed a control diet (0.70% P) continuously and served as control. Hens on treatment 2 received a high phosphorus diet (HP: 2.54% P) between 06:00 and 10:00 and a low phosphorus diet(LP;0.33% P) for the rest of the day, Treatment 3 was fed HP diet for four hours immediately following oviposition and LP diet for the rest of the day. All diets contained a constant level of calcium (4.04 %). Results indicated that egg production, feed intake, feed efficiency were not significantly affected by the treatments. Hens in treatment 3 tended to lay earlier than those in treatments 1 (P〈.0.05 ) and 2 (P〈.0.01 ). There were no significant differences in egg weights among treatments. Egg specific gravity, however, was significantly (P〈0.01) improved by feeding HP diet for 4 hours immediately fellowing oviposition (treatment 3). There was no significant difference in the specific gravity between eggs from the control and treatment 2. There were found a linear relationship for egg weight and a quadratic relationship for egg specific gravity (P〈0.01) with time of oviposition. Specific gravity of eggs tended to be low as the egg weight increased.

Estimation of Phosphorus Adsorption Capacity of Alum-amended and Composted Paper Mill Sludge (제지슬러지에 대한 alum 처리 및 퇴비화에 따른 인 흡착능 변화)

  • Excess application of paper mill sludge (PMS) in field can limit phosphorus uptake by crops because aluminum presented in the sludge can fix or adsorb available phosphorus which is necessary for crop growth. To investigate phosphorus (P) adsorption characteristics of PMS, we examined P adsorption maximum $(X_m)$ using Langmuir isotherm and P adsorption energy constant $(K_f)$ using Freundlich isotherm for PMS without alum, PMS with alum, and composted PMS with alum through a laboratory incubation test. The maximum P adsorption capacities were 800 ${\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ in soil, 47 $mg\;g^{-1}$ in PMS without alum and 61 $mg\;g^{-1}$ in PMS with alum. P adsorption capacity with alum treatment for PMS increased by 30%. That of PMS compost was 68 $mg\;g^{-1}$ and showed that composting increases 11% of P adsorption. Freundlich constant $K_f$ was 22 in check soil, while $K_f$ values in PMS without alum and in PMS with alum were 398 and 426, respectively. After composting, $K_f$ value of PMS compost significantly increased as 1,819. In conclusions, p adsorption capacity for PMS were increased by alum treatment or composting and therefore excess or continuous land application of alum-amended or composted PMS can limit P uptake for crops by reducing available P in sell.

Isolation and Characterization of Phosphorus Accumulating Acinetobacter CW3 (인 축적균 Acinetobacter CW3의 분리 및 특성)

  • A highly effective phosphorus accumulating bacterium named Acinetobacter CW3 was isolated from the nature by using Winogradsky columns. The optimal cultivation conditions of Acinetobacter CW3 in shaking flask were determined as $20^{\circ}C$, pH 7, 200rpm, 18.5mg $PO_4$-P/L. Acientobacter CW3 could remove phosphorus completely in 12hours for a batch culture at optimal cultivation condition. This bacterium could uptake phosphorus on aerobic condition and release it on anaerobic condition.

Trends of Thermochemical Technology for the Recovery of Phosphorus from Sewage Sludge Ash (열화학적 방법에 의한 하수 슬러지 소각재에서의 인 회수 기술 동향)

  • Phosphorus (P) is an essential and irreplaceable element for all living organisms, and it is widely used as a fertilizer. Unfortunately, it is estimated that phosphate reservoir is depleted within about 100 years. Sewage sludge ash (SSA) is an alternative resource for P recovery because of its high P content. However, SSA cannot be directly used as a fertilizer due to heavy metals in it and low P bioavailability. Thermochemical treatment with Cl donor is known to reduce heavy metal contents and increase P bioavailability of SSA. Literature review on thermochemical technologies of SSA for the reduction of heavy metals and bioavailability enhancement has been carried out to estimate the status of current P recovery technology and to develop strategic future research plan for P recovery. The review showed that $CaCl_2$ and $MgCl_2$ were the most effective Cl donors and reaction temperature (< $1000^{\circ}C$) was the critical operation condition for the reduction. The removal efficiency depends on the species of heavy metals. Thermochemical technology of SSA for P recovery showed the possibility of commercial application in the near future to overcome the coming crisis of human sustainability by P depletion, but it needs cost effectiveness and more ecofriendly process to reduce energy consumption.

Phosphorus Fractionations in Sediment of Mankyung and Dongjin River (만경강과 동진강 주요 지점 하천토사 중 형태별 인의 함량)

  • Sediments of Mankyung and Dongjin river were examined on the physico-chemical properties and phosphorus fractionations. The content of total-P in sediment of Mankyung river ranged from 290.1 to 405.4 mg/kg (average = 363.4 mg/kg), while that in sediment of Dongjin river ranged from 304.1 to 431.7 mg/kg (average = 353.6 mg/kg). In both rivers, the total-P was highest in June to September. It is presumed that surficial sediment in arable land flowed into the rivers with rainfall-runoff. Phosphorus fractionations in Mankyung and Dongjin river were apatite-P 52.1% and 42.7%, residual-P 27.3% and 34.2%, nonapatite inorganic-P 18.1% and 22.5%, and adsorbed-P 0.6% and 0.6%, respectively. Adsorbed-P in sediment was the most scarcity fraction. It thus appears that adsorbed phosphorus was not effected in aquatic ecosystem. But nonapatite inorganic-P would be highly released under changes of redox condition and pH in aquatic ecosystem.

  • 논에서 수질변화특성에 관한 메카니즘은 매우 복잡하다. 영양물질의 농도특성을 정확히 파악하기 위해서는 영농활동에 따른 체계적인 모니터링을 통한 다양한 측정 자료가 필요하다. 그러나 현재 논에서 토양의 산화환원에 관한 연구 자료는 많지 않기 때문에 그의 특성을 파악하기에는 어려운 실정에 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 충북대학교 부속농장 필지논에서 2008년 영농기간을 중심으로 논에서의 영양물질인 총인(TP), 인산성 인($PO_4-P$) 및 산화환원전위(Eh)의 변화특성을 파악함으로써, 논으로부터의 영양물질 유출제어에 관한 기초 자료를 제공하는데 있다. 이 연구는 2008년 6월부터 10월까지 필지논에서 논 표면수의 TP 와 $PO_4-P$의 농도변화와 토양의 산화환원전위(Eh)와의 관계 특성을 파악하였다. 관개기의 논에서 인은 분얼비 시기에 인성분이 시비되지 않았는데도 불구하고 분얼비 직후와 분얼비 1주일 후에 TP농도가 높게 나타났는데 이는 담수의 영향으로 논이 환원상태로 되어, 논바닥에 침전된 철이온에 흡착되어 있던 인이 철이온의 환원으로 함께 용출하기 때문이라고 생각된다. 산화환원전위(Eh)는 높아지면 산화경향을, 낮아지면 환원경향을 나타낸다. 본 연구기간 동안의 산화환원전위(Eh) 값은 비 관개기에 $201^{\sim}405$ mV로 높게 나타났고, 관개기에는 $93^{\sim}195$ mV로 낮게 나타났다. 필지논 표면수의 인농도는 분얼비 직후 1주일후까지 TP 와 $PO_4-P$ 농도는 같이 상승하다가 TP농도는 약 2주일까지 더 상승하여 2008년 최대값을 나타냈고 $PO_4-P$농도는 하강하였는데 이는 논 토양이 환원상태로 되면서 바닥에 있던 입자성 인이 논 표면으로 떠올랐기 때문으로 사료된다. 그 후에 담수가 끝나는 시점까지 농도는 낮아졌다. 강우량이 적은 관개초기에 인의 농도는 비교적 높게 나타났지만 강우량이 많은 여름에는 작물의 생장에 필요한 영양물질 섭취 등으로 인농도가 낮게 나타나 논은 인의 유출을 억제하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같이 인의 유출특성 및 산화환원전위(Eh)의 변화에 따른 논에서의 유출부하 특성이 규명된다면, 환경부하가 적은 효과적인 물관리가 가능해 질 것으로 판단된다.

Fertilization Effects on Growth, Foliar Nutrients and Extract Concentrations in Ginkgo Seedlings (은행나무 묘목(苗木)에 대(對)한 시비(施肥)가 생장(生長) 및 엽내(葉內) 양분(養分)과 유용(有用) 추출물(抽出物) 농도(濃度)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • We measured seedling growth, foliar nutrient and extract concentrations of 3-year-old Ginkgo biloba seedlings growing in a nursery following a single fertilization with nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and nitrogen plus phosphorus (N+P) fertilizers. Fertilization did not change foliage, stem and root biomass of the seedlings except for the high N+P treatment, Foliar N and P concentrations following fertilization varied according to the amount of fertilizers. In general, foliar N and P concentrations increased with fertilization, but fertilization with 400kg N/ha and 100kg P/ha decreased foliar N and P concentrations, respectively. Seedling growth and foliar nutrient concentrations showed that N and P were the growth-limiting nutrients in our study site. It was found that fertilization reduced the concentrations of secondary metabolites (Ginkgo flavon glycosides and terpene lactones) in foliages. It seemed there was a relationship between foliage biomass production and secondary chemicals in G. biloba seedlings.

Recovery of Calcium Phosphate from Sewage Sludge Ash (하수슬러지 소각재로부터 Ca-P 형태의 인 회수)

  • In this study, optimum extraction conditions for phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge ash(SSA) were investigated. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted to determine optimal recovery conditions for Ca-P type phosphorus by using calcium component in the recycled aggregate residue. The phosphorus content of sewage sludge ash was confirmed to be 5.0 %. When $H_2SO_4$ was used as an extract, concentration of 1 N $H_2SO_4$, L/S ratio of 10, and extraction time of 30 min were found to be the optimal extraction conditions. Phosphorus was extracted by using optimal extraction conditions, and then the heavy metals eluted with phosphorus were removed using 1~20 g of cation exchange resin. In 20 g of cation exchange resin, Fe 71.3%, Cu 82.4%, Zn 79.9%, and Cr 15% were removed. After that, the mixing ratio of the calcium extract obtained from the recycled aggregate residue (RAR) was changed to 1:1, 1:5, 1:10. The pH of the SSA to RAR mixture was adjusted to 2, 4, 8 and 12 by the addition of 5 N NaOH to the mixture of 1:5, and the phosphorus was recovered as Ca-P type precipitate. The optimum pH was 8. When recycled aggregate residues were used, the weight of calcium phosphate increased, but the amount of wastewater generated also increased. Therefore, it was concluded that the use of recycled aggregate residue was not economically feasible.
