Robust Optimal Design Method Using Two-Point Diagonal Quadratic Approximation and Statistical Constraints (이점 대각 이차 근사화 기법과 통계적 제한조건을 적용한 강건 최적설계 기법)

  • This study presents an efficient method for robust optimal design. In order to avoid the excessive evaluations of the exact performance functions, two-point diagonal quadratic approximation method is employed for approximating them during optimization process. This approximation method is one of the two point approximation methods. Therefore, the second order sensitivity information of the approximated performance functions are calculated by an analytical method. As a result, this enables one to avoid the expensive evaluations of the exact $2^{nd}$ derivatives of the performance functions unlike the conventional robust optimal design methods based on the gradient information. Finally, in order to show the numerical performance of the proposed method, one mathematical problem and two mechanical design problems are solved and their results are compared with those of the conventional methods.

A Study On Performance of Fiber Optic CDMA System for Parallel Transmission of Two Dimensional Data (2차원 데이터의 병렬전송을 위한 광부호분할 다중접속 시스템의 성능에 관한 연구)

  • Generally, one-dimensional fiber optic code-division multiple-access(CDMA) system is encoded and decoded using optical orthogonal codes(OOC’s), where two-dimensional fiber optic CDMA system uses optical orthogonal signature pattern codes(OOSPC’s) for parallel data link process. The OOSPC’s should have good autocorrelation and cross-correlation properties. However, if timing information or synchronization of OOSPC’s can be obtained by other means, the property of autocorrelation may not be restricted and we can increase the number of pattern codes. In this paper we introduce the fiber optic CDMA system for parallel transmission of two-dimensional data and investigate methods of generation of two-dimensional pattern codes. The probability density function of interference noise is calculated in interfering OOSPC’s of the users and the corresponding bit error rate is derived.. We compare each OOSPC’s by plotting bit error rate versus threshold values and the number of simultaneous users, from the result, we propose the optimal OOSPC’s conditions for the parallel transmission of two-dimensional data.

  • Abstract Secondary cell wall is the most abundant biomass produced by plants. Plant secondary cell wall is composed of a complex mixture of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin. Lignin, a phenolic polymer that hinders the degradation of cell wall polysaccharides to simple sugars destined for fermentation to bio-ethanol. Cell wall biosynthesis pathway-specific biomass engineering offers an attractive 'genetic pretreatment' strategy to improve bioenergy feedstock. Recently, we found a transcription factor, MYB7, which is a transcriptional switch that may turns off the genes necessary for lignin biosynthesis. To gain insights into MYB7 mediated transcriptional regulation, we first established a dominant suppression system in Arabidopsis by expressing MYB7-SRDX. Then we used a transient transcriptional activation assay to confirm that MYB7 suppress the transcription of the lignin biosynthetic gene. Taken together, we conclude that MYB7 function as a repressor of the genes involved in the lignin biosynthesis.

Smoke Chamber를 이용한 고체 추진제 연소 기체의 연기 측정

  • 추진제 연소 기체의 연기도(degree of smoke)의 정량적 측정을 위하여 설계, 제작된 Smoke Chamber를 이용하여, 고체 추진제의 연소 기체에 대한 연기도의 측정 기법을 확립하였으며, 몇가지 유연성 및 무연성 혼합형 고체 추진제 조성들과 복기형 추진제의 연소 기체에 대하여 온·습도 조건의 변화에 따라 연기도를 측정하여 결과를 종합, 분석하였다. 그 결과, Smoke Chamber장비를 이용한 측정을 통하여 추진제 연소 기체중의 연기 생성도를 정량화 함으로써, 기후 조건과 추진제 조성에 따른 연기도의 차이를 구분할 수 있었으며, 일차 연기(primary smoke)와 이차연기(secondary smoke)의 생성 조건 및 이들의 분리 측정이 가능하다는 결론을 얻었다. 측정 파장 영역에 대한 확장을 통하여 측정 범위룰 보완한다면, Smoke Chamber System은 향후 고체 추진제의 연소 기체의 연기 특성의 파악 및 로켓 모터 plume 연구의 기초 자료 획득에 유용하게 이용될 수 있다고 판단된다.

Isolation and Identification of Proteins Increasingly Expressed in Beef Loin on Maturation (성장기 소의 등심에 발현되는 단백질들의 분리 및 동정)

  • Protein profiles of beef loin were constructed by comparing two-dimensional gel electrophoresis patterns of the proteins from different growth stages of Hanwoo, Korean cattle. Proteins from the lean muscle of 0, 6, 12 and 24 months old Hanwoo were separated by isoelectric focusing (IEF) on 16 cm tube gels, and further processed second dimensionally by 12% SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) using $18{\times}20$ cm gel. Proteins with pI values ranging 3.0 to 9.0 and molecular weight of 15 to 100 kDa could be clearly detected on gel by silver staining. Interestingly, many of the proteins significantly increased and decreased during growth happened to be low molecular ones. To isolate the increased proteins, the soluble proteins were obtained from the tissue by 1% Triton X-100 extraction, then, fractionated by 30% and 50% ammonium sulfate. The isolation condition of each particular protein was determined. According to the conditions, two of the increased proteins were isolated, and transferred to PVDF membrane and microsequenced.

  • We present a new dual sequential approximate optimization (SAO) algorithm called SD-TDQAO (sequential dual two-point diagonal quadratic approximate optimization). This algorithm solves engineering optimization problems with a nonlinear objective and nonlinear inequality constraints. The two-point diagonal quadratic approximation (TDQA) was originally non-convex and inseparable quadratic approximation in the primal design variable space. To use the dual method, SD-TDQAO uses diagonal quadratic explicit separable approximation; this can easily ensure convexity and separability. An important feature is that the second-derivative terms of the quadratic approximation are approximated by TDQA, which uses only information on the function and the derivative values at two consecutive iteration points. The algorithm will be illustrated using mathematical and topological test problems, and its performance will be compared with that of the MMA algorithm.

  • This study investigated the effect of the type of alkaline precipitant used on the synthesis of lithium hydroxide by examining the behavior of lithium hydroxide produced using lithium sulfate recovered from a waste lithium secondary battery as a raw material. The double-replacement reaction (DRR) process was used to remove the impurities contained in the lithium salt precursor of lithium sulfate and to improve the efficiency of the synthesis of lithium hydroxide. The experiment was conducted by control the molar ratio of the precursor ([Li]/[OH]), the reaction temperature, and the composition of the alkaline precipitant (KOH, Ca(OH)2, Ba(OH)2) used for the production of highly-crystalline lithium hydroxide. A secondary solid-liquid separation was performed following the reaction to remove the impurities generated, and the purified aqueous solution of lithium hydroxide was evaporated to remove the moisture and obtain the product as a powder. The crystallinity and synthesis behavior of the product were examined.

  • 최근에 개발된 강력한 레이저는 원자가 tunneling 이온화 될 수 있는 충분한 세기를 가지고 있다$^{(1)}$ . Tunneling 이온화 된 전자는 원자의 Coulomb 퍼텐셜 보다 레이저 장에 의한 영향이 훨씬 크므로 기존의 perturbation 이론으로는 이들간의 상호작용을 설명하기에 부족하였다. 뿐만 아니라 이온화된 전자가 레이저 장의 방향이 바뀜에 따라 재결합함으로써 발생되는 고차조화파는 기존의 perturbation 이론으로는 설명될 수 없는 발생효율이 차수에 상관없이 거의 일정한 평탄영역을 가지고 있음이 실험적으로 관측되었다$^{(2)}$ . 강력한 레이저 장과 원자들과의 상호작용에 의해서 생성된 고차조화파는 기존의 비선형 현상으로 설명되어지는 이차 조화파나 삼차 조화파와 같이 레이저의 간섭성을 그대로 물려 받으므로 극자외선 영역의 간섭광원으로써 이의 활용가치가 높을 것으로 보고 있다. 현재에는 기존의 엑스선 레이저로 가능했던 고밀도 플라즈마 밀도 측정등과 같이 극자외선 간섭광이 필요로 하는 연구등에 활용 되어지고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 고차조화파는 효율이 거의 일정한 넓은 파장 영역인 평탄 영역을 가지므로 이의 넓은 파장 영역을 이용하면 아토초 수준의 짧은 극자외선 광원을 만들 수 있을 것으로 이론적으로 예견되어 지고 있다$^{(3)}$ . Principles and Comparative Studies of Various Power Measurement Methods for Lithium Secondary Batteries (리튬이차전지 출력측정법의 원리 및 측정법간 비교 연구)

  • As the market of lithium secondary batteries moves from mobile IT devices to large-format electric vehicles or energy storage systems, the strengthened battery specifications such as long-term reliability longer than 10 years, pack-level safety and tough competitive price have been required. Moreover, even though high power properties should also be achieved for hybrid electric vehicles, it is not easy to measure accurate power values at various conditions. Because it is difficult to choose a proper measurement method and its experimental condition is more complex comparing to capacity measurement. In addition, the power values are very sensitive to power duration time, state-of-charge (SOC) of cells, cut-off voltages, and temperatures, whereas capacity values are not. In this paper, we introduce three kinds of power measurement methods, hybrid pulse power characterization (HPPC) suggested by US FreedomCar, so-called J-pulse by Japan electric vehicle association standards (JEVS) and constant power measurement, respectively. Moreover, with pouch-type unit cells for HEV, experimental power data are discussed in order to compare each power measurement.

An Extended Robust $H{\infty}$ Filter for Nonlinear Constrained Uncertain System (제약조건을 갖는 비선형 불확실 시스템을 위한 확장 강인 $H{\infty}$)

  • 본 논문에서는 시스템의 모델 불확실성과 백색 가우시안이 아닌 $L_2$ 잡음이 존재하는 경우에 시스템 상태변수의 효과적인 추정을 위한 강인 필터를 제안한다. 제안된 필터는 적분이차제약조건(integral quadratic constraint)을 갖는 일반적인 비선형 불확실 시스템을 위해 선형근사화를 통하여 구성된다. 또한 제안된 필터의 중요한 특성인 변형된 $H{\infty}$ 성능 지수를 유도하고, 해석적 방법을 통해 제안된 필터의 잡음과 시스템 파라미터 불확실성에 대한 강인성을 분석하며, 시뮬레이션 결과를 통하여 제안된 필터가 추정치의 정확도를 효과적으로 향상시키는 것을 보인다.
