Optimum Design of Outfall System by Analyzing Mixing Characteristics of Heat and Brine Discharge at Near Field Region (온배수 및 염배수의 근역혼합특성 분석을 통한 방류시스템의 최적설계)

  • When planning outfall system, the first target cif design is to maximize initial dilution of discharge effluent. To achieve the target effectively, the characteristics of mixing phenomenon between ambient and discharged water should be analyzed. Especially the analysis at the Near-Field-Region(NFR) as initial dilution zone should be preceded. Usually, the initial behavior of effluent through outfall system is rising toward the surface due to mixing with ambient water for heat discharge and sinking toward the bottom due to the difference of density for brine discharge. After mixed with eddies accompanied by the ambient water, the plumes are showing the same density and internal current pattern by advection and diffusion. Until recently, lots of studies are being carried out for the optimum design of outfall system. but it is difficult to find any studies of heat and brine discharge at the same time. Therefore, this study is hoped to provide some basic data for optimum design of outfall system.

  • A Very High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor (VHTR) has been selected as a high energy heat source of the order of $950^{\circ}C$ for nuclear hydrogen generation, which can produce hydrogen from water or natural gas. A primary hot gas duct (HGD) as a coaxial double-tube type cross vessel is a key component connecting a reactor pressure vessel and an intermediate heat exchanger in the VHTR. In this study, a structural sizing methodology for the primary HGD of the VHTR is suggested in order to modulate a flow-induced vibration (FIV). And as an example, a structural sizing of the horizontal HGD with a coaxial double-tube structure was carried out using the suggested method. These activities include a decision of the geometric dimensions, a selection of the material, and an evaluation of the strength of the coaxial double-tube type cross vessel components. Also in order to compare the FIV characteristics of the proposed design cases, a fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analysis was carried out using the ADINA code.

춘.추분 시기 천리안위성에 미치는 태양 영향

  • 천리안위성은 우리나라 최초의 정지궤도복합위성(COMS: Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite)으로 2010년 6월 27일, 남미 기아나 쿠루기지에서 아리안-5 로켓에 의해 발사된 후 동경 128.2도, 적도 상공 약 35,800 km 고도의 정지궤도에 안착되었다. 이 후 궤도상시험 기간과 안정화 기간을 거쳐 2011년 4월 1일, 기상청은 위성자료 서비스를 시작하였다. 천리안위성의 기상영상기는 한반도 주변의 기상변화와 전 지구적 기후 변화 및 대기 운동을 감시하기 위해 실시간 관측 및 전송 시스템을 갖춘 탑재체이다. 이 기상영상기는 하루 8번의 지구 반면 영역과 각각 80번 내외의 북반구 및 한반도 영역을 관측하며, 이 자료는 지상에서 복사보정과 기하보정을 거친 후 위성을 통해 다시 사용자에게 배포된다. 천리안위성 기상영상기는 쉼 없이 관측하고, 일정 시간 이내에 그 자료를 배포해야 한다. 이러한 자료서비스는 운영시스템의 장애나 자연현상에 의한 자료 미수신 혹은 미처리가 발생할 경우 운영 결과 및 성과에 영향을 미친다. 이와 같은 장애에 대비해 국가기상위성센터는 이중화된 시스템을 구축했으며, 자료 백업 부기관으로서 한국항공우주연구원과의 사이트 이중화도 시행하고 있다. 그러나 정지궤도에 있는 위성과 태양 및 지구의 역학적인 관계에 따라 태양 전파 잡음의 영향인 태양간섭과, 위성 태양전지판 충전 장애를 일으킬 수 있는 위성식, 그리고 위성 자정 주변에 발생할 수 있는 태양광 침입 및 산란광 영향 등은 미리 예측되어야 하며, 이 시기 운영 방안 마련과 사용자 공지 등의 조치가 수반되어야 한다. 국가기상위성센터는 춘 추분 시기에 발생하는 이러한 태양 영향을 예측하고 검증했으며, 이 시기 위성 및 지상국의 효율적인 운영방안을 마련하였다.

  • 지구 온난화 등 기상이변으로 추정되는 단시간 동안 특정지역에 집중되는 국지성 집중호우가 빈번해지고 있으며, 내수침수가 홍수재해의 주된 원인이 되고 있다. 내수침수의 원인으로는 하수관로의 통수능력 부족(39%), 저지대 침수(37%), 내수배제불량(16%) 및 기타(8%)로 조사된 바 있으며, 이중 하수관로의 경우 용량 및 통수능 부족, 구배불량, 토사퇴적에 의한 배수 불량 등으로 이에 대처하기 위해서는 기초자료의 조사가 우선 되어야 한다. 하수관로의 문제로 인한 내수침수의 원인으로 첫째 하수관로 내·외부 불량으로 인한 통수능 저하로 측구 및 빗물받이에 토사 등 장애물, 관로내부 장애물, 관로내부 불량(뿌리침임, 영구장애물, 관붕괴, 관파손, 관변형, 내피생성, 토사퇴적 등)이 있으며, 두 번째로 하수관로 구배불량과 마지막으로 외수위(또는 해수위) 상승으로 인한 내수침수로 구분될 수 있다. 이러한 하수관로의 문제점은 많은 부분이 불탐지역으로 조사가 매우 어려워서 대안 없이 방치되는 실정이다. 금회 연구에서는 이러한 불탐지역의 조사를 위한 장비의 개발 및 정밀조사를 통해서 하수관로를 진단하고 내수침수 예방을 위한 대책을 찾고자 하였다. 특히, 계단부 관로조사용 내시경 VR장비, 준만관 조사용 부유식 VR장비, 가스 및 안전위험 지역 조사용 지하 드론 장비를 개발하여 시험검증을 하고자 하였다. 또한, 스마트 하수관로 체계에 빅데이터를 기반으로 한 하수관로 토탈 솔류션(nPASS) 시스템으로 내수침수대응 및 하수관로 유지관리를 위한 시스템의 필요성을 규명하고자 하였다. 하수관로의 선진화를 통한 내수침수예방의 시작은 불탐지역 하수관로 조사를 통한 정확한 원인 파악이며, 조사 및 축적되는 빅데이타를 기반으로 하수관로 토탈 유지관리 시스템의 구축을 제안하고자 하였다.

A Study on the Double-Wall Greenhouse Filled with Styrene Pellets (입자충전형 이중벽 온실에 관한 연구)

  • This study was conducted to develope the automatic insulation system which control inside temperature of the greenhouse. For this purpose, the double- wall greenhouse and system which could automatically supply and discharge styrene pellets were constructed and abrasion of the pellets, blower ability, insulating property, transmittance and shading effect were analyzed by the experiments. The results obtained from this study can be summarized as follows : 1. It took an hour and fifteen minutes to supply and discharge about 2㎥ pellets in the experimental greenhouse. However, it is possible to reduce the operation time by proper selection of the blower and exhaust port, and by proper control of the supply and return pipe. 2. It was founded that the indirect delivery way was more profitable than the direct one in the supply and return of pellets. 3. When the transmittance was measured between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., the average light transmissivity rate was 67%. 4. In winter nighttime, the inside temperature of the double- wall greenhouse with out the pellets was higher than the outside temperature by 3.4$^{\circ}C$ on an average. However, the inside temperature of the double - wall greenhouse with insulated area 73% was higher than the outside by one 6.6$^{\circ}C$ on an average, and the inside temperature of the greenhouse with insulated area 100% was higher than outside one by 13.5$^{\circ}C$ on an average. Therefore, it was proved that the insulating ability of the double - wall greenhouse in nighttime was excellent. 5. When the outside temperature was 36.9$^{\circ}C$ on an average, the inside temperature of the double- wail greenhouse with insulated area 100% was 3$0^{\circ}C$ on an average. As the inside temperature was lower than the outside one by 7$^{\circ}C$ on an average, we could know that the shading effects of the double- wall greenhouse were excellent in summer daytime.

한전의 발전소 운전원 훈련용 시뮬레이터 국산화 개발

  • 한국전력공사 전력연구원에서는 최근 영광 #3·4, 보령 #3·4 및 고리 #2 등 원자력 시뮬레이터 2기, 화력 시뮬레이터 1기의 국산화 개발 사업에 착수하였다. 이번에 국산화 개발되는 시뮬레이터는 UNIX 운영체계(OS)를 사용하는 워크스테이션을 채택하므로서 기존의 시뮬레이터 전용 컴퓨터 시스템 사용에 따른 폐쇄성을 극복하게 되며, 발전소 계통 시뮬레이션 모델이 정교하고 사용자 편의성이 대폭 증가된 Graphic User Interface 개발을 그 특징으로 한다. 본 국산화 개발사업은 향후 5년간 단계적으로 진행될 예정인데, 삼성전자(주)를 주 계약자로 하고 미국의 537(Simulation, Systems & Services Tech. Co.)사와 기술제휴로 1단계에서는 영광 #3·4호기용 및 보령 #3·4호기용 시뮬레이터 개발을 통한 기술전수를, 2단계에서는 전수기술을 활용한 고리 #2 시뮬레이터 개발을 통해서 국산화 기술자립을 확보할 예정이다.

A Study on the Flow Characteristic of Lubrication Oil System in Manual Transmission System for Large Commercial Vehicle (대형 상용차용 수동변속기내 윤활시스템의 유동특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study has conducted numerical analysis for lubrication system of transmission for commercial vehicle. The lubrication oil system in transmission can be applied to a large scale commercial vehicle which is over 15tons. The flow rate of lubricating oil has been obtained for each of branch port from the lubrication pipe. The results from numerical simulation are mainly suggested for the mass flow rate of lubrication oil in the rotating main shaft of transmission system. It has been found that the mass flow rate from oil hole increased with an rotating rate of main shaft. The flow characteristic from oil hole has been presented for the lubricating system in the manual transmission.

  • As a large scale port development in coastal waters proceeds step by step and populations in the vicinity of port are getting increased, the issue on 'how to dispose the treated municipal water and wastewater in harbor' brings peoples' concern. The submarine outfall system discharges the primary or secondary treated effluent at the coastline or in deep water, or between these two. The effluent, which has a density similar to that of fresh water, rises to the sea surface forming plume or jet, together with entraining the surrounding sea water and becomes very dilute. We intended in this paper to investigate the impact on dilution of effluent and the behavior of flume under the conditions of the seasonal and spatial temperature variations, which have not been noticeable in designing effective marine outfall system. To predict and analyze the behaviour and dilution characteristics of plume not just with the effluent temperature, but also with the seasonal variation of temperature of surround water, CORMIX( Cornell Mixing Zone Expert System)-GI have been applied. The results should be used with caution in evaluation the mixing zone characteristics of discharged water. We hope to help for the effective operation of outfall system, probable outfall design, protection of water quality, and warm water discharges from a power plant, etc.

Study on the damage effect to the Gas pipeline coating by the crashed stone backfill material (쇄석을 가스배관 채움재로 사용시 배관피복에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • To protect the underground pipeline from the mechanical damage and to enhance the cathodic protection effect, the river sand has been backfilled traditionally around the buried pipeline. However, river sand became depleted and expensive. One has to seek for the economic alternative materials. Crashed stone is a good candidate for the backfill material. In this study, how much the particle size and shape of the crashed stone can effect on the gas pipeline coating was examined. A series of laboratory and field test was performed. In the Lab, the increasing loads were applied to the coated pipeline surrounded by the crashed stone, where no significant damage was observed.

Commercialization of Ion Exchange Fiber System for Recovering Valuable Metals in Plating Wastewater (도금 폐수 중 유가 금속 회수를 위한 이온교환섬유의 상용화기술)

  • On the basis of 200 ppm of Ag and 120 l/h of feed flow rate, we built a pilot plant of an ion exchange fiber system having an double tube type ion exchange chamber with strong base ion exchange fiber (FIVAN A-6) which was designed to replace fibers easily and to eliminate the need for a fixture. The following results were obtained for the double tube type of ion exchange fiber system with an ion exchange capacity of 4.6 meq/g for Ag. The adsorption process was operated in the range of 40~90 l/h after confirming the effect of the flow rate and, pH did not affect formation of complex ion of Ag in the range of pH 7~12. In the case of backwash process, the recovery rate of Ag was tested in the range of 60~120 l/h and comparative experiments were carried out using NaOH, $NH_4Cl$, and NaCl as the chemicals for backwash. Although the desorption time was shortened at higher concentration, the desorption efficiency per mol was lowered. Therefore, it was confirmed that the desorption time and the concentration should be well balanced to operate economically. The desorption pattern of the backwash process is slower than the adsorption process and takes a lot of time. The results showed that the Ag adsorption ratio was 99.5% or more and the Ag recovery ratio was 96% or more, and commercialization was possible.
