INTERNAL FLOW PROPERTIES AND THRUST CHARACTERISTICS OF AXI-SYMMETRIC ANNULAR BELL TYPE EJECTOR-JET (축대칭 환형 이젝터 제트의 내부 유동과 추력특성)

  • An experimental and numerical investigation of the ejector-jets focusing on its geometric parameters that effect on thrust performance was carried out. The area ratio of the primary nozzle that was tested in the present study was 2.17 and 3.18, while the ratio of the length to the diameter of the duct downstream the primary nozzle inlet had values of 3.41, 6.82, and 10.23. Internal flow properties of ejector-jet were estimated by comparison experiment data and CFD analysis for basic study of ejector-jet thrust performance. For examination of thrust performance, the thrust ratios increased with increase in L/D. Especially at AR=2.17, the maximum thrust augmentation was 33 percent for the shortest L/D. It is expected that the increase of mixing duct length of ejector-jet will be helpful in a thrust performance by improving mixing efficiency.

  • A new method to improve the efficiency of a hydrogen fuel cell system was introduced by using variable sonic/supersonic ejectors. To obtain the variable area ratio of the nozzle throat to ejector throat which controls the mass flow rate of the suction flow, the ejectors used a movable cylinder inserted into a conventional ejector-diffuser system. Experiments were carried out to understand the flow characteristics inside the variable ejector system. The secondary mass flow rates of subsonic and supersonic ejectors were examined by varying the operating pressure ratio and area ratio. The results showed that the variable sonic/supersonic ejectors could control the recirculation ratio by changing the throat area ratio, and also showed that the recirculation ratio increased fur the variable sonic ejector and decreased for the variable supersonic ejector, as the throat area ratio increases.

  • An experimental investigation or the sonic and supersonic air ejector systems has beer conducted to develop design and prediction programs for practical ejector system. Five different primary nozzles have been employed to operate the ejector systems in the ranges of low and moderate operating pressure ratios. The ejector operating pressure ratio for the secondary chamber pressure to be minimized has a strong influence of the ejector throat ratio. The pressure inside the ejector diffuser is not dependent on the primary nozzle configurations employed but only a function of the ejector operating pressure ratio. Experimental results show that a supersonic ejector system is more desirable for obtaining high vacuum pressure of the secondary chamber than a sonic ejector system.

  • A cone cylinder is used to obtain variable operation conditions for the sonic ejector-diffuser system. The cone cylinder is designed to move upstream and downstream to change the ejector throat area ratio, thus obtaining variable mass flow rates. The present study investigates the effects of ejector throat area ratio and operating pressure ratio on the entrainment of secondary stream for the variable sonic ejector system. In experiment, the ejector throat area is varied in the range from ${\psi}=11.88$ to 66.69, and the operating pressure ratio from $p_{0p}/p_a=1.25$ to 9.0. The results show that the variable sonic ejector system is suitable for a required entrainment ratio of secondary stream by altering the ejector throat area ratio and operating pressure ratio.

  • The ejector system is used for making a vacuum in an enclosed tank. This research represents the method to improve ejector performance by inserting a strut at the center of ejector outlet. This proposed ejector system is so simple and have a low cost to improve the ejector performance. There are many kinds of method for obtaining a lower vacuum pressure. The ejector is consists of nozzle, straight pipe and outlet diffuser and we focused on the outlet diffuser for high ejector performance. The strut is located at the center of ejector outlet diffuser. As the experimental result, we compared the vacuum pressure with and without a strut and without strut, and the ejector performance showed an improvement with 40% or more than the case without strut. This means that the stable fluid low energy loss was obtained by inserting the strut.

  • This paper dipicts the computational results for the axisymmetric subsonic/sonic ejector systems with a second throat. The numerical simulations are based on a fully implicit finite volume scheme of the compressible Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equation in a domain that extends from the stagnation chamber to the ejector diffuser exit. In order to obtain practical design factors for subsonic/sonic ejector systems, the ejector throat area, the mixing section configuration, and the ejector throat length were changed in computations. For the subsonic/sonic ejector systems operating in the range of low operation pressure ratio, the effects of the design factors on the flow are discussed.

  • A vacuum system with ejector has been widely used because of its simple construction and easy maintenance. Ejectors are the main part of the vacuum system, of which designs determine the efficiency of vacuum system. The ejector with the capacity of 1.5 ton/hr steam consumption was designed and tested. The results showed that the tested values are satisfied with the designed specifications. Comparing with other ejectors designed by overseas specialist makers, it seems to have a good performance.

  • 곡물선별기는 호퍼, 진동식 정량시료공급장치, 공급벨트 또는 슈트, 램프, 이미지 센서, 공기총, 제어장치로 이루어져 있고, 농산물 등의 제품속의 이물질이나 불량품을 선별해내는 장치로 최근의 국내외 식생활의 향상과 더불어 매우 부가가치가 높은 제품으로 평가받고 있다. 본고에서는 곡물선별기의 국내외 최신동향을 다루었으며, 곡물선별기에 있어 핵심부품인 이젝터 및 이젝터용 밸브를 집중적으로 조명하였다. 특히 솔레노이드 밸브를 대신하는 압전식 밸브의 타당성을 논하기 위하여 압전 액추에이터 설계/제작/실험결과 관련 정보를 수록하였다.

  • Ejector is a simple device which can transport a low-pressure secondary flow by using a high-pressure primary flow. The efficiency of the ejector system is relatively very low, compared to other fluid transport devices driven mainly by the forces acting on the normal direction. However, its major advantage is a simple structure with no moving parts, and it transports a large amount of fluid with a small driving energy. In this study, the performance of side-type liquid ejector commonly used in ships; is analyzed by using experimental and CFD methods under steady and incompressible flow condition by varying the length of the throat and diffuser, the flow pattern and suction phenomenon were studied in detail.
